The Game
"Are you sure this will be fun?"
The yellow pegasus asked her orange companion.
"Ah now sugar cube. This will be fun for the both of us. Ya'll need some time off work and this be the best spot for relaxing," The orange earth pony reassured her pegasi friend.
"Oh alright," Fluttershy said reluctantly.
"Okay sugar cube ya'll have fun now." Applejack said as she disappeared into the maze of machines.
The yellow pony looked around the crowded room. Some ponies were at the brightly light machines starting intently at the screen's animation while others roamed the arcade for a new source of entertainment. Fluttershy fiddled with the golden coins in her hooves, looking for Applejack but her orange companion was no where to be found.
"Oh sorry," Fluttershy apologized as somepony pushed her out of the way making her spill her tokens all over the arcade floor. The pony didn't look back as Fluttershy picked up the dropped items. 21...,22,...23,24... Fluttershy counted in her head. 25?
"Huh?"
The token made a soft thud as it landed on the black carpeting. The yellow pegasi followed the path of the small noise somehow hearing it over the loud shouting and beeps of the arcade. The coins path had ended at a neon blue machine. Fluttershy's hoof began to reach out to the lost coin but just as she did this a young filly had scooped up the missing token from under the machine.
"YES! I can finally play that game!" The young earth pony exclaimed in a heavy Manehatten accent, waving the token excitedly in the air.
Fluttershy stared at her missing token, now reclaimed by the young cyan filly. The filly had trotted off to rejoin her group. The yellow pegasi now sadden by the lost of her coin walked down the crowed maze of machines.
"Hey was this your coin?"
Fluttershy turned only to see the cyan filly once again holding the coin out in a friendly gesture. "You dropped this right?" The filly asked once more.
"Yes,"
The yellow pegasi nodded. "Okay here you go," The cyan earth pony said as she offered the coin back to Fluttershy. The yellow pegasi hesitated but soon took the coin from the small filly.
"Thank you."
The filly turned back. "No prob. It's yours anyways. Hey try it out on that game," she said pointing to the neon blue machine where she had first claimed the coin. "It's my fav game! Ya should try it!" The cyan earth pony continued her journey to her group of peers.
Fluttershy looked up at the neon machine. The side glowed the blue words "Mega Stacker". An animation of the game's name shown repetitively onscreen. Fluttershy cocked her head. She sat on the blue chair next to the machine. She wondered what was so good about the arcade game that made it the foal's favorite. I'll give it a try, the element of kindness thought, I don't want to let her down!
Flutttershy put the coin into the slot. It made a reassuring beep. The screen's animation changed. Three blue squares appeared onscreen. Fluttershy watched, confused, as the squares slide back and fort simultaneously as though it was a dance. She looked around but with no hope she found nothing to help her. Fluttershy looked back once more trying to figure out what to do. She looked at the instructions engraved on the machine.
