Chapter 1: I died

Deep Darkness surrounded me as I floated in the abyss, I looked right and then left, but there was nothing to see, save the dark.

Then I looked down at myself and, was surprised that I could see myself. Again I checked the darkness for any sign of light, but, there was no light here.

"But that doesn't make sense,"I thought to myself."one needs light to see."

Then I tried to breath in, but was panicked to find that my lungs would not obey my wishes, frantically I tried to grab at my throat but my legs would not move either.

I then tried to call out, to anypony that was listening, but my voice failed me.

Panic began to build in my chest and I began to sweat, if I where able to breath it would have been erratic.

Then I remembered what happened, I was fighting somepony, with my friends, Silver Sea and Burning Stone, but, they where nowhere to be seen, it was just me here, just me and my thoughts.

"Oh my gods!"I thought as I remembered what happened during the fight."I....I'm dead!"

                           ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                                                           Thirteen seconds ago.

"Damn Mage,"My friend Silver shouted as she charged at the mage that had come into the ruin we had been plundering all week."this our ruin!"

Suddenly a golden aurora surrounded her and she was thrown across the room we were in.

"By order of Princess Celestia, all grave robbers are to be put to death!"He shouted back.

"Go to hell!"Burning Stone yelled as he followed Silver's example, but, was met with the same answer, a wall.

"But, if you surrender you will be spared!"He continued as he gave me a nasty look.

I quickly thought about my options and decided that I would rather die here then spend the rest of my life in jail, so, I like my friends raised my sword shakily in my magic( I had never been good at casting spells,) and jumped at him.

He side stepped easily dodging my attack and fired a magical ball of fire at me, for a second everything was hot, so hot, then it was cold, painfully cold, then numbness and darkness.

                                 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                                                                    Back in the void

I floated there, now remembering what happened I was filled with sadness, I was dead and this was the after life, and what about my friends? I swirled around again, looking for anything, anypony, but, there still was nothing.

"And I wasted my life looking for gold, in other peoples tombs."I said sadly."And I didn't even find any!"

Then to my right I saw a bright flash of golden magic, the same color that the mage used. As I looked at it, it began to come at me, faster and faster as it got closer.

As it neared me I began to get worried, why was the mage's magic that had killed me coming at me now, now that I was dead?

I tried to turn to get away, to move just enough that it would not hit me, but, I could not move, I could not even look away.

Then it struck me in my chest, burning into my skin, my blood felt like it was boiling and my very soul burnt.

I cried out in pain, but no sound was made, I tried to grab my chest to rip it apart, anything to stop the pain, but, my forelegs would not move.

After what felt like years the pain finally stopped and my eyes were assaulted by the brightest light I had ever seen, but, as soon as it appeared, it went.

I rolled over, finally in control of my own body, and got to my hooves.

"Was it all a dream?"I asked myself.

The clash of steel behind me drew my attention, I wiped around to see my friend Burning Stone kicked in the face by the same mage as before.

Rage burned in my chest as I drew my sword, this mage would pay for not killing me when he had the chance.

I leaped forward with my sword held high, then swung down with all my might.

            "SHING"

Metal scraped against metal, until my blade found a weakness in the armor it had struck.

My eyes opened wide in terror as my blade cut through Burning Stone, my best friend, but, I knew I had aimed for the mage.

My blade pulled itself free from the body of my friend on its own, no, through my magic, but I didn't command it.

Then I saw the mage smiling, smiling at me.

"Good,"He said."now, kill the other one."

At his command I turned toward Silver Sea, she was just getting up, then she looked at me, straight into my eyes, then my sword lifted.

            "No!"I screamed in my head.

But, against my will, my sword came down cutting Silver's head off, a second later my sword fell from my magic, and I heard the mage walking up from behind me.

"And,"He started as my eyes began to darken."all you had to do was surrender."

As his word's faded, so did the world, and, I was again in the void, but, this time, I was glad I was alone

Alone never to see anypony again, never to see light again, never to smell again, never to feel, never to breath, never to move, and never, ever to see my friends again.

"Damn you,"I thought to myself."damn you, Celestia!"

The void seemed alive around me, it seemed to taunt me, reminding me, now, and for all eternity, that I was dead.

As I drifted throught the emty space of the void, I found myself remembering my past, and the LIFE I once had.
