I Did Your Mother
Let's fill in some blanks shall we
Previous ChapterNext Chapter“So, sweetheart,” Firefly spoke out quietly as she filled her daughter’s coffee cup with warm herbal tea. “Now that Soarin is gone, why don’t you tell me more about why you’re not very fond of him.”
For a few seconds Dash said nothing, and with the only sound being from the nearby cuckoo clock ticking away, she picked up the tea with her hooves and took a little sip before putting it back on the table. It was later in the same day that Dash came to visit her mother and had her confrontation with Soarin, and though he was gone from the house and back at his own place, Dash still wasn’t fond of him being with her mother at all.
“Mhm, you made good tea, mom,” Dash replied as she looked up at her mother and saw her patiently waiting for an answer. “Anyhow, you would understand my point better if your were at the bar with me. He wouldn’t keep his hooves off of me, and he stumbled away after I rejected him for like the tenth time, but not before he knocked over my drink and it spilled on me.”
“Really? How drunk was he?” Firefly asked as she poured her own cup of tea.
“Drunk enough that he fell on his face before he left the bar, so he had to be pretty plastered. Part of me even thinks he knocked over my drink on purpose though, considering I snapped at him and he didn’t say anything in return. Ugh, and don’t get on me about how touchy he was,” Dash added in as she mentally compared Soarin to a certain draconequus that had a habit of being overly touchy when he shouldn’t be. “I swear he couldn’t keep his hooves off of me. He kept trying to feel up my legs and even tried kissing my wings. Ugh, I can still smell his nasty horse breath when I open my wings. He wouldn’t take no for an answer at all.”
“W-was he that bad?” Firefly asked, nearly dropping the teapot, wondering if Dash was too drunk herself that night to remember things clearly. “Funny, he seemed very sober and very kind when I saw him at the bar I went to.”
“Probably sobered up enough after I rejected his sorry ass. He’s just lucky I didn’t break his nose or any other parts for how he acted to me.”
“Are you sure it was Soarin?” Firefly asked as she found the Soarin that Dash was describing nothing like the Soarin she met and seduced that night.
“What? Don’t you believe me?” Dash replied, starting to become a bit hurt that her own mother wasn’t fully believing her.
“Well it’s just… the Soarin I met was heartbroken, but he was very kind to me… hun, why didn’t you bring this up earlier?” Firefly asked, wondering why Dash didn’t say anything before.
“Well, you were blowing me off mostly so I didn’t bother,” Dash replied as she looked away. “Plus I hate arguing with you when you get stubborn.”
Though a bit taken back by the harshness of her words, Firefly knew her daughter was right. Whenever an argument played out back when Dash was a filly, Firefly almost always won thanks to how stubborn she got when someone tried to prove her wrong. It was either she was right or no one was right, yet now that she was getting up in years, she was calming down more and seeing things with more clarity.
“I’m sorry, sweetheart,” Firefly said quietly as she reached over the table and put her her hoof on Dash’s. “I’m willing to listen now.”
Still a bit upset, Dash looked at her mother’s hoof and knew she meant well deep down. Letting out a deep sigh, Dash spoke up again.
“I know you are, but I just don’t trust Soarin after the other night. I thought he was a nice pony to be around before, but he sure acted differently at the bar. Different enough that I don’t really trust him anymore.”
“Sweetheart, you know how rowdy and sexually driven us pegasi get after we drink a lot. We like to be all high and mighty, and when someone says no to us, we get very mad… or very depressed, depending on who it was,” Firefly replied as she started to recall a fond memory. “We should both know this considering that we act very differently when we get drunk. Remember that time you got so drunk you got mad enough that you broke a table?”
Not saying anything, Dash let out a sigh as she knew her mother spoke the truth and she started to quickly remember a night where she took a mare out to the bar, got both her and the mare drunk and tried to hit on her explicitly. Sadly for that night, it ended in rejection and Dash coming home to her mother’s place, upset and angry that she ended up breaking the living room table.
“Rather not remember that night, mother,” Dash replied sternly, not wanting any more repressed memories coming up. “But… you’ve got a point. Yeah, I guess it makes sense for Soarin, and it sure didn’t help that his Wonderbolt buddies kept egging him on to hit on me.”
“His teammates were there as well?”
“Only for a bit. They took off after a bit and left Soarin alone,” Dash replied.
“Hmph, some teammates he has,” Firefly huffed as she took another sip of her tea.
“What do you expect from a bunch of drunks?” Dash replied as she took her own sip. “But still… regardless of what happened the other night, I wasn’t very fond of how arrogant he acted this morning.”
“You have a point there, sweetheart. I did find his attitude could use a bit of an adjustment but that’s because I found it more funny then anything.”
“Yeah, funny at my expense,” Dash grunted as she started to feel more sore.
“Hey come on… well if he was like he was at the bar then I can see why you’re angry at him, but I still think you should give him another chance. We all have our bad nights, and I’m sure… wait, did he at least try to apologize to you earlier?”
Staying quiet for a second, Dash remembered that Soarin tried to talk to her before he left, and though at the time he looked like he was planning to say sorry, Dash didn’t want any of it.
“I think so… not really sure actually,” Dash replied as she wasn’t sure of his plan at the time. “I don’t know… I think he tried to say sorry, but I really didn’t want to talk to him earlier.”
“You didn’t give him a chance to speak?”
“Not really, I just wanted to be left alone earlier,” Dash replied as she looked down at her tea.
“Hmm, then I think the both of you should have a real talk, and not one like you had before,” Firefly replied in turn as she remembered hearing some of the conversation Dash and he had while she was in the kitchen.
“I guess… but I wasn’t fond of how cocky he acted when he bragged about having sex with you. And seriously, why did you let him get away with that? Like what the fuck, mom? I love you and everything, but I really didn’t want to hear about how you two broke the bed.”
Taking another sip of her tea, Firefly gave off a smile before she spoke up.
“Hmm, not one of my finer moments, but I think you would understand it more if you didn’t have sex for months,” Firefly replied as fond memories of the night started to come back. “When a stallion like Soarin gives it to you as hard as he gave it to me then you can see that he deserves to be a bit cocky about it.”
“Eww, don’t give me those mental images,” Dash replied as she closed her eyes and shook her head.
“Well you asked and I answered.”
“Blah, should have stayed quiet about it,” Dash replied as she found a bad taste building up in her mouth, and she took another sip of tea in order to drown the feeling. “Ugh, you both are just perverted old ponies.”
“Heheh, oh come now, I’ve lived long enough that I think I’ve earned it,” Firefly replied as she put a cocky smile on her face. “But sweetheart, I still think the both of you should make up and remedy what happened between you. You know it’s not healthy to stay mad at ponies forever.”
As Dash was about to respond, the sound of the doorbell ringing made the both of them look to the front door and wonder who it was.
“Hmm, another visitor?” Firefly spoke out as she got out of her seat and walked to the door. “Seems my little home is popular today.”
The doorbell rang again.
“Yes, yes! I’m coming!” Firefly groaned loudly as she went faster.
From her seated position at the kitchen table, Dash was able to watch her mother open the door and be greeted by a mail carrier. Though they usually didn’t do delivery rounds so late, Dash quickly noted that the gray delivery mare was sporting a Wonderbolt logo on her mail hat, and Dash remembered that the Wonderbolts had their own special delivery system for handing out letters on the same day they were written. On top of that they were operated twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
“Hmm, Soarin must be up to something,” Dash pondered quietly to herself as she saw her mother take an unmarked letter from the mare before the mail mare opened her wings and took to the sky. “Hey, what did you get?”
“It’s blank,” Firefly replied as she flipped the letter over a bunch of times as she tried to find a means to why she got it. “Let’s see what’s inside.”
Quickly trotting to a small side table in her living area, Firefly grabbed a letter opener and, with a quick motion of her hoof, cut it open and looked inside. Pulling out two tickets along with a letter, Dash quickly recognized the tickets as Wonderbolt race tickets. As Dash found her eyes on the tickets, Firefly was reading a small letter and quickly smiled as she finished.
“Hmm, looks like Soarin invited me and you to see a Wonderbolt exhibition race at the Cloudsdale stadium tomorrow afternoon!” Firefly spoke with joy as her wings fluttered at her sides. “And he even got us front row seats.”
Though Dash was surprised that he sent them front row seat tickets, she still didn’t trust him.
“Oh lovely, looks like he’s trying to win me over,” Dash grunted as she grabbed her tea and chugged the rest of it down.
“Oh come now, sweetheart, think of it this way,” Firefly replied as her mind thought of a good idea. “I bet he’s going to say sorry to you tomorrow if you go. It would be a good idea to make up with him, you know?”
“Ugh, rather not see him so soon,” Dash groaned as she put her empty cup down.
“Oh please don’t be like that, dear. Could you just give him a chance for me? I promise if both of you don’t mend your ways then I’ll dump him for your sake.”
Going quiet at her mother’s words, Dash wasn’t going to deny that she was liking the idea of her mother dumping Soarin, and if all she had to do was tag along and watch a race, then she was going to stop resisting right away and give in to her mother’s plea.
“Hm, I’ll hold you to your word, mom,” Dash replied as she smiled and got out of her chair. “Fine, I’ll go with you. Maybe I’ll get lucky and watch him crash into a cloud.”
Rolling her eyes at her daughter's behavior, Firefly said nothing as she put the envelop, letter, and tickets on the side table before her.
“Well if that’s enough for you to come with me, then I won’t let your imagination bother me one little bit,” Firefly replied as the cuckoo clock started to ring loudly. “Oh wow, is it already nine o’clock?”
“Wow, really? Didn’t think it was that late. Now I’m even more surprised by that letter,” Dash replied as she looked to the clock as well. “Crud, and I still gotta fly home.”
“You know you can stay tonight if you want, dear,” Firefly replied.
“Really? I figured you would have moved a bunch of things into my room and made it a mess,” Dash replied as she looked to the staircase going upstairs.
“Ugh,” Firefly started to speak as she realized Dash spoke the truth without realizing it. “A-actually, I kinda did move some things into your room.”
Though she turned her face to her mother and giving her an unamused look, Dash still liked the idea of staying over for the night.
“Figured you would horde stuff in my room,” Dash teased. “But I guess I can stay in the spare room for the night.”
“Uhhh, spare room is… umm… full as well,” Firefly replied sheepishly.
“Seriously? With what?”
“Your uncle’s stuff is in there until his storage attic is remodeled. You know how much stuff he likes to collect.” Firefly replied as she forced a smile.
“Ugh, both you and he horde too much stuff you know,” Dash groaned as she looked to the living room. “I swear you two have dragon blood. Whatever, guess I’ll just crash on the couch for the night.”
“You heading to bed now?” Firefly asked as she watched Dash began trotting for the couch.
“I usually head to bed early nowadays,” Dash replied as she stopped and looked back. “Wonderbolt Academy had early morning drills starting at six, and since then I’ve been going to bed early.”
“That makes sense I guess. Alrighty, I’ll go get you a spare pillow and blanket then,” Firefly said to her as she turned for the staircase and began to trot for it. “I’ll be right back.”
As Dash watched her mother climb up stairs and watched her disappear into a nearby room, she then jumped onto the couch and stretched out her back against it.
“Hmm, feels weird sleeping in this house again,” Dash spoke quietly as she started to reminisce about her childhood. “Feels like old times.”
“Ahh! Blasted music box! Why do I even keep this garbage!?” Firefly shouted from the room as the sound of items being kicked around played out.
Listening to her mother complain about the things she was hoarding, Dash just smiled and stared quietly at the ceiling.
