Load Full StoryIt was a chilly night in the town of ponyville. Unless you were at the Doo house, where Ditzy Doo was currently reading a book while her daughter Dinky played on the carpet.
Looking up from the book titled “Daring Do and the river of gloom” Ditzy looked at the clock in shock. “Oh no!” said Ditzy causing Dinky to look up in confusion.
“What’s wrong mommy?” asked Dinky.
“Oh my little muffin you were supposed to be in bed a half hour ago,” replied Ditzy putting aside her book. “Come on I’ll tuck you in.”
“Oh mommy do I have to,” said Dinky with puppy eyes.
Her heart melting at the sight Ditzy stood steadfast. “Yes I’m afraid so,” she said.
“Oh okay,” said Dinky with a sad sigh.
Not wanting to see her daughter said Ditzy came up with a idea. “Tell you what! I’ll read you a bedtime story how does that sound?”
The sound of rushing hooves upstairs answered her.
After brushing her teeth and doing her business Dinky got into bed to be tucked in my her mother.
“Ready to hear the story my little muffin?” said Ditzy wiping some hair out of her daughter’s eye.
“Yes mommy,” said Dinky giggling from her mothers touch.
“Okay, once upon a time
There lived three siblings and their grandpa in a forest. The eldest was a strong, blue stallion who only said nay and ayy, the middle sibling was a yellow mare who always was honest but only about bad things about a pony, and the the third sibling was a small, sweet, adorable red mare by the name of sprucing.
Now Sprucing was the least favorite of the family, the older siblings would make fun of her and pull her hair and the grandpa just spat in her food.
“You would never do that to me would you mommy?” asked a worried Dinky.
“Of course not muffin,” said Ditzy bopping Dinky on the nose that caused her to giggle. “Your food is spit free.”
Anyway the siblings would go out each day and go chop down trees for lumber. Their lunch was this, for the eldest a big slice of cake and a mug of apple cider, for the middle a medium slice of cake and a smaller mug of apple cider, and for Sprucing a small piece of burnt bread and a cup of water
“Thats not fair,” said Dinky.
“No it was not,” said Ditzy
Now one day when the they went lumbering the eldest came upon a big tree and was about to chop it down when he heard “Help me, please?” said a voice that belonged to a elderly stallion in a brown suit. “If you kind sir would simply give me a small bite to eat and a sip to drink, I think I might be able to make it to the next town.”
All the stallions said was “Nay” and ate his meal in front of the stallion before heading to chop down a different tree. Upon find one he curled his neck back and swung the blade causing it to come out and cut him in the knee, so after crying away home to get it mended the middle sibling found the same big tree along with the same stallion.
“Please my good lady, if you would kindly spare me a piece of food to nibble on and a drop of liquid to quench my thirst I might be able to make it to the next town?” said the stallion.
“Get a bucking job you hermit!” shouted the middle sibling before eating her meal in front of the stallion before leaving and find a different tree to cut down. Finding one she curled her arms to chop it down but when she threw the axe it’s blade fell out and cut her knee. So she too ran home crying while Sprucing came upon the same big tree.
Seeing the old stallion under the tree she said “Mister is there anyway I can help you?”
Looking up the stallion though he had found help but was disappointed to see a filly with only burnt bread and water. “No thank you my child. You need the food more than-nom nom” he said as the filly put the bread in his mouth and gave him a cup of water.
“Feeling better mister?” asked Sprucing with a smile.
“Yes my dear and so will you for since you have given me two helps I will in turn help you two times,” he said walking away.
“Ok?” said Sprucing before looking at the giant tree before her, taking her axe she curled her arms and struck the tree expecting just a dent, but instead the tree split open to reveal a golden pigeon that laid golden eggs. Rushing home with the magical bird she saw the sight of her sibling getting their wounds fixed while grumbling. “Look everypony! I got a magical-”
“Shut up!” shouted the grandpa before going for a belt.
Seeing this the siblings held him off while the middle sibling shouted “Run spruce!”
Galloping far away from her house with tears in her eyes she traveled for days upon end till she came to a city of a queen and a prince. The prince had a confliction that made a hyra come out of his mouth and attack the city when it was the last weekend of the month. So the queen announced that whoever could defeat the hydra would be able to marry her son and become the heir to her kingdom. When the prince and Spruce saw each other they instantly fell in love but spruce knew she could never beat the hydra….not alone at least. So waiting in the town square for the snake to appear she was met by the sight of a blacksmith who just so happened to be the stallion she rescued.
“Take this,” he said giving her a sword. “And use it to scare the hyrd,” he said before galloping away.
When the hydra appeared, sprucing quickly threw the sword at the beast many heads, scaring them all of at the same time and making the creature run off never to attack the city again.
The next morning the prince and sprucing were married and the siblings came to live with her while the grandpa went to anger management classes and the festivals were so great that you probably want to know how I know? Because I stayed for so long till the guards threw me, the stallion out with a smile on my face and they all lived happily ever after.
“The end,” said Ditzy kissing Dinky on the head.
“Thank you mommy, I love you,” said Dinky drifting off to sleep.
“I love you too muffin,” said Ditzy closing the door gently “Forever.”
