//-------------------------------------------------------// Rainbow Power, or Rainbow Death? -by MidnightDawnScarlet- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter one //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter one Rainbow stood in front of the tree of harmony. Thinking back on the day she was born. She lay in the middle of a large pool of rainbows, it was as big as a lake almost. It was inside a large cave, the walls and ceiling dripping with rainbows and bright colors. The filly Rainbow Dash lay there, looking around herself. She was smaller than a five year old filly, but not as small as pound or pumpkin. Whom did not exist at the time. She heard a beautiful voice, smooth, strong, feminine, much like a beautiful singers voice. "Hello, my little filly." Rainbow tried to speak "h-h-heh-" she was straining to talk, not knowing how. "Heh-lo" The large voice chuckled "I am still unsure of what to name you" Out of nowhere seemingly, streams of rainbows grew out of the pool and twisted and combined into each other to create a most beautiful mare. An alicorn; her mane and tail flowing like celestias, but was more vibrant than Celestias; it was the same colors as Rainbow's mane. Her spiral horn faded from white into rainbows as it traveled up her horn, her body, was spotted. Black and grey spots, some pink and brown along the way. Her eyes, the same colors as her mane and tail. Her stance was  taller than Celestias; almost as tall as queen galaxias stance. Her cutie mark a gem in the middle of all 6 colors of the rainbow spiraling separately out of the crystal. Dash looked up at the stunning mare before her. Her eyes wide with amazement, was this her mother? The mare observed her latest creation, and smiled "I shall name you, Rainbow Dash." Dash smiled "raiboo da!" She held her fore hooves out to hug her mom. The mare smiled warmly and hugged her filly. Rainbow continued to stare at the tree, she smiled huge and warm at her first memories. "I miss her. I miss mom so much..." Her ears flopped down to the sides of her head as she looked down at the puddle of tears she just realized she'd created. "DARN IT!! I HATE CRYING" she stomped a hoof to the ground She remembered back to her filly hood growing up, before she even met anypony other than her mother The filly stood proud and tall just outside the cave, in a soldier like position. Her gaze directed straight ahead. No where else. The everfree forest surroundings where there and visible however the creatures outside the magical barrier were blocked off. The tall mare stood in front of the filly, a stern, yet visibly sad, expression coated her face. "Rainbow Jessica Dash, you are to tell no pony or other creature of my existence." "Yes, Ma'am!" "You are to claim you were abandoned by your parents" "Yes, ma'am!" "And, Do not, whatever you do, do NOT become close to being as powerful as an alicorn princess." "Yes, ma'am! But, why ma'am?" "Because you are already extremly powerful as it is, of you become more powerful, you could end up destroying everything with a single flick of your ear." A Tear rolled down the mares cheek. She didn't want to let her precious filly go. Rainbow teared up, she didn't want to leave her mom. But whatever she needed to do for her, that was her job "You must go because a filly can not simply stay in a cave the rest of her days, she must live somewhere! Meet somepony! And make friends!" "So, what will happen to me if I get to powerful?" The mare froze, she couldn't find words, she knew the answer to that question, but she wasn't ready to answer it, however she did anyways because Rainbow Dash needed to know and had a right to know. "You will die..." The soon-to-be speedster gasped, her wings flared open. Rainbow shook her head rapidly, realizing that if she stayed alive when she did become powerfuler, she would have to die. "Yes ma'am" "Now, I love you Rainbow, but you must go, now!" She pointed hoof to the outskirts of the magic bubble, a doorway opening in it. "Yes ma'am, I love you mommy, I won't forget you." She sobbed lightly as she made her way to the magical doorway. The rainbow alicorn stayed firm until rainbow disappeared out of sight, then fell to the ground sobbing and wailing. Rainbow sat on her haunches crying, her wings drooped down to the ground as a puddle of tears fell to the ground below her. "I love you, mommy.." She lifted her head slightly, and then Dropping it again, She snapped out of her day dream, shaking her head rapidly "no, I can't be to powerful. "She stood up and looked at her hooves "Nah  I ain't THAT powerful. But that doesn't mean I'm not awesome! She flared her wings out, and puffed out here chest, a look of pride on her face. "Yea, ain't getting killed any time soon." She took off, flying towards the sky. She flew over Twilights castle, then twirled around, diving head first towards the top of the castle. She almost rammed her head into the top, then screeching at a halt last moment, then swooping down and landing on her front doormat. She knocked "Hello?" Twilight answered "oh! Hey Rainbow! What brings you here?" "Eh, just needed some company." "Alright!" She lead the speedster up into the throne room, where sat all her friends "Hey guys!" Dash smiled fakly "Heya, Dash!" Applejack said sleepily "Hello, Rainbow Dash" rarity yawned "how might you be?" "Eh I'm fine. " Fluttershy sat sleeping sitting up in her throne, sleeping silently. Pinkie sat there wide eyed as always. Spike was sleeping in his throne as well. Discord slept in a ball in the back corner, snoring loudly. "Uhhh, ya know what? Never mind, I'm gonna sleep in my house." "Well alright then." Twilight answered. Pinkie nodded " ok, Dashie!" Dash grinned before flying out the window. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter Two //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter Two Dash soared through the sky, feeling proud of herself and confident. Yep. She was one happy mare. Just as she flew, a quick and bright flash as many bright colors whisper past her at astonishing speeds. It was the color of her own trail, only wider, and light pinks and browns in the mix. She gulped. She thought she knew who's trail that was, but she didn't really want to find out for sure. She just hovered there, scared eyes. Was she really gonna die? She shook her head rapidly, ad then turned back to where she left off. She resumed her flight. She swooped down and landed in front of her own doorstep. She loved her house. She trotted inside, happy with her little paradise. "SCOOTS!" She hollered for her younger sister. She heard nothing; maybe she was out playing with her crusader friends. She flew up the stairs and went into her bedroom, sitting on the bed. Nap time. She heard small faint hoofsteps inside the household, she thought it might be Scootaloo, so she lightly flapped her wings down the stairs, hopping to startle the filly. She turned  her head over the railing of the steps, but instead of scootaloo, she saw a large multicolored mare. Dash knew she was in trouble now. She zapped up the stairs, as much as she missed her mom, she didn't wanna die. The alicorn mare by the name of colors stood in her daughters living room, staring at the wonderbolts posters, her wonderbolt academy badge, her passed test, her wonderbolt academy suit. She was so proud of her daughter. The fastest flier in all equestria, the element of loyalty, and friend of a princess. But she knew as well as her daughter what had to be done. She had gained to much power. She heard small faint zapping sound, must've been Rainbow Dash. She lightly trotted up the stairs, looking left and right for Dash, then heard a smaller, but loud set of hooves on the door step, she teleported out of there. Dash lay on her side, hugging her hind hooves Her eyes like pinpricks, she shook like a leaf. She then heard the familiar sound of her younger sister. "Rainbow Dash! Where are you? I know your here! The door was unlocked!" Dash hollered "YOU CANT TRY AND LURE ME OUT, MOM." Scootaloo stood outside the door, a very and utterly confused look on her face "huh?" Dash slid off the bed and crawled to the door, looking under the bottom crack, seeing the familiar small orange hooves. She then stood up and peared through the peep hole, seeing scoot's familiar face. She sighed in relief and opened the door "hey, kid!" She had stopped shaking; maybe she was just being paranoid. "What was that all about  Dash? "Scoots tilted her head at the Rainbow maned mare. "Eh, nothing. Just a......" Her mind wandered trying to think up an excuse. "....bad dream!" "But you don't get bad dreams.." "Yea, well, whatever. First time for everything I guess." She waved a dismissive hoof. "Well, ok. But are you sure your alright, Dash?" "Yea!" She gave a nervous smile. "Well, alright then." //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter three //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter three It's been a month since she and her mother were in the same house, and RD hadn't seen any sign of her since. She was begining to wonder if her mother was sparing her...? She didn't know. She just knew that she was still alive. She has kept going back to the tree of harmony off and on since she gained her rainbow powers and she's starting to reallyyyy hate that tree. But again, it reminds her of something. Something nice. She loved the tree, but she still hated it. And now, she sits here. on her haunches. Staring at it. Marveling it beauty. Completly untarnished even after that whole escapade with discord's vine seeds. After millions of years, since before celestia was born, it still remained thriving right here. In this spot. It astonished Rainbow Dash. That's partially the reason she envied it. Did she want to be a tree? Hell no. Did she want to be eternal and beautiful and regal just like the tree? Fuck yeah. "Why does a tree get such an awesome and long life, but I dont?" She asked herself, the universe, the tree, and anypony who might be listening. That's when something near the tree started moving, growing, rising, moving towards her! She stepped back, but then realized that a new branch or root, maybe a vine, From the cristal, element bearing, powerful tree known as the tree of harmony. The root was about as tall as her, and it had some striped on the over-all length of it on top of the purple and blue crystal. On the end, a flower bloom that was colored with her mane and tail colors, the end slightly resembling her tail and on the very front petal, her cutie mark. She gaped at the flower, in utter shock. Had the tree just answered her? She remembered how twilight opened the last flower, so she walked upto the flower, touching it with a hoof. She had touched the cutie mark,  a small shock of -not painful, but pleasurable- energy shocked through her body. It was like a gentle massage over her entire body. The flower opened, revealing not a chest, but a necklace. But it wasn't more a necklace than an amulet. It resembled her cutie mark, much like her element of harmony necklace, but it wasn't the same at all. The necklace itself (exept the element jewel) was made from what looked like diamond. Mostly, anyways. She saw some of sombra's dark crystals on the outer ends, but they were small. There was small designs with platinum, gold, silver, ruby, Emerald, Opal, sapphire, amethyst, and many others, even onyx. It was very busy, but very beautiful. Stunning. Raroty would faint at the sight, but not because it was ugly! No... Because it was to beautiful for someone to handle. Especially rarity since she was such a fashionista. It literally glowed brightly, not blinding, but just enough to add that powerful and beautiful touch. They had a few rainbow colored lines in there too. The outline was crystal mostly. Matching the tree's crystal. It was bigger than her last necklace, but still looked well-fitting. She decided to pick it up, hoping it wouldn't shatter like that blasted chrystal cup that she had to put back together at the chrystal fair. She could feel the energy and power emiting off it. She saw the inner lining was plush red silk to conpmfort her chest and neck. She smiled at this. The scratching of gold against her fur didn't exactly feel amazing on that sensitive skin and coat. She put the necklace around her neck, but that's when something amazing happened. She found herself in a sparkling space, no flooring. Wavering and fluxiating air. She felt amazing but confused. The tree was still there, though. Out of the branch that held her cutie mark, a ball of white light emerged and floated slowly towards her forehead. Rd was utterly confused but trusted the tree. Somehow. She closed her eyes and waited for something to happen. She felt a tingling on her head where the light was on her head, and the necklace seemed to vibrate. Her wings tingled, too. She found herself in a massive space of brightness, unable to see anything but bright blinding light. She waited patiently for it to die down. Surprisingly, it didn't hurt her eyes to look at. It was simply to bright to see through. After about five minutes, it started to die down. She blinked. Now it was bothering her eyes a little. She blinked quickly, trying to shake off the brightness. Finally, her vision came into focus and the light was gone. She was in the middle of ponyville, town square. "What the hay?" She looked around in utter confusion. She actually felt pretty content and peacefull, but she was still confused and wanted to be informed about what the hell was happening. She looked at her wings first, they were after all her closest friends. Even closer than scootaloo or her other friends. She noticed they had grown in size, mor elite alicorn anatomy "fuck." She looked up, checking for a horn. She thought she saw something but wasn't sure. She reached a hoof up and touched her horn. "oh shit..." //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter four //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter four Dash stood in the middle of town square, completly stunned. Oh shit oh shit oh shit oh fuck nonononononNONONONO! this can't be happening! Yea, I can't fly faster now, but that's not something to die for! I'm to young to die! I haven't even become a full fledged wonderbolt yet! she flapped her new huge wings, hating them. This was the only time in her entire life she wished she was an earth pony. Her friends all came running up, panting and gasping for air. "Rainbow Dash! " well, all exept Pinkie Pie. "OhmigoshohmigoshohmiGOSH!" She bounced around her friend and tugged dash's wing "your an alicorn princess now?!" Dash forced a grin "yea! I guess I am!" "But wait; what's that?" Twilight pointed to Rainbow's necklace "I thought the elements of harmony couldn't be taken back away from the tree of harmony..." Rainbow Dash had completly forgotten about the necklace "oh yea, when I was near the tree-" "Why were you near the tree of harmony? You don't usually care about that sort of thing unless it's in immediate danger!" Twilight became concerned. "Um, yeah, I uh... " she trailed off a bit trying to think of an answer "I figured that a cave probably wouldn't keep the tree very safe so I decided I'd go check up on it once in a while. Y'know, to make sure it stays safe and all." "So, anyways, I'm checkin' on it and all, I sit down in front of it and some branch grows out and has a flower on it, I touch the flower, it blooms and gives me this, I go somewhere else, I become an alicorn princess." Twilight levitated the necklace off of rainbow's neck, spinning it around to scan it. Rainbow felt a tingling sensation on her horn and her wings "what the-" She turned to her wings and saw they ha fre turned to theyre pegasus form. She put a hoof on her head to feel for a horn. Nothing was there at all. "Huh? " All of her friends gasped "hmm.. This is strange..." Twilight put the necklace back on Rainbow's neck, and her horn and alicorn wings grew back in a flash of bright white light "So, you can be both an alicorn and a pegasus?" Fluttershy asked in curiosity "Apparently so... " Twilight cocked her head to the side whilst pacing around rainbow. Dash didn't have to force a grin now; she now had the power of lying to her mother! Dash sat on her bed, thinking of the events of that day. "Wow. I'm an alicorn" she muttered to herself "and I'm not dead!" She grinned happily as she lay on her back on top of the covers of her bed. "Hello Dashie."
