A Moments Respite and Reflection
Author's Note
Excuse the very short story (literally just over 1k words), but, I just felt like maybe giving my OC a sort of back story. It's extremely short, but I think it's okay, since it's just a small inner monologue. Tell me what you think in the comments below.
Also, sorry for the absence of updates as of late. I'm still working on the next chapter to 'H.D.T.H.?'

Reflection
Just sitting here, Staring at the clouds slowly drifting on by. Not worrying about anything, since, you know, they're clouds. Have you ever just...sat down and thunk about...you know...about whatever? I guess we all do sometimes. Or at least I know I do that.
Well, today is one of those days. I'm just sitting here on this cloud here with my hands behind my head and my feet dangling off the side of the cloud that I laying down on. Just staring up at all the fluffy white clouds that pass overhead. I can't help but think what my parents would think of me now. I left home when I was nineteen, I found a great place here in Ponyville, have a good job, do what I love to do in my spare time. Sitting down and streaming games for ponies and others alike that love to watch the sort of thing on the internet. I never believed I would be living on my own, you know? It just sorta happened. The moment presented itself, and I took it. I mean it's not everyday that you are able to go learn what you wanna be able to do for the rest of your life at one of the best schools in Canterlot and then find a place of your own, to live by yourself, with no one to tell you what to do, when to get up, when to go to sleep, or even pester you about where you're going.
I did sorta just leave, just like that though. They were a bit...surprised? I guess that would be the best description for the look on their faces when I came up to them and told them that I would be moving out to go and learn in Canterlot. They bombarded me with questions like, "Where will you live?" "Where will you work for money for school?" "What about all the schools that teach the same thing here?" To which I just answered with, "A friend, a store that needed a part time artist for their ads, and the school in Canterlot will give me a better chance at getting the job I really want."
Of course, now look at me. Living in Ponyville, doing what I love, and not only that, but I also don't have to go anywhere for work. I can just wake up and walk like five feet out my bedroom and into the next room where my computer is.
And you know, the even better part is that I constantly wake up feeling happy about where I am. Well, except for today that is. Just woke up not feeling one hundred percent. From the minute I woke up, I just haven't really felt...right? I dunno how to explain it, but you know those days when you just don't have that usual 'pep' in your step? Ya, I guess I'm having one of those days today.
I just haven't felt the least bit happy today. Now that's not to say I'm feeling depressed or sad. Just not feeling it today. That's why I came out here...to think for a while. Try and clear my head and get everything back in order.
Sure I have all the time in the world to myself now, and I got the job I always wanted, but I left a lot of stuff behind. Old friends, family, a home. That's a lot of stuff to leave behind, but I guess you gotta move on a some point, right? I guess that's why I'm asking myself now.
Was it worth it?
Was it worth leaving all that behind and moving so far away. I moved half-way across the country to come and live here and work, and only until now am I thinking about this.
But then again,
"HEY!"
I looked over the edge of the cloud to see Dash and the rest of the girls down below.
"The girls and I are going to the pond to go swimming, you wanna come with!?"
I think I remember why I'm always so happy.
I jumped off of the cloud and flapped my wings once before landing with a soft 'thump' on the ground.
"Sure, let's get going. Let's not burn the daylight away by standing here wasting time while we could be swimming!" I said enthusiastically.
"Well come on then, let's go Sound." Dash said before starting to head for the pond.
It's because I met the six most amazing mare, who may I mention have saved Equestria many a time over, and became their friend, not to mention the fact that I'm together with that prismatic mare. Seeing her always puts a smile on my muzzle.
"Come on ya' slowpoke! Hurry up!"
"Yeah, yeah, I'm comin' I'm comin'!" I shouted back as I jogged up them her to catch up, and to surprise her by ducking uder her and lifting her onto my back, giving her a pony-back ride.
"What the hay!" Dash shouted, trying to sound angry, knowing all too well that I knew she wasn't at all.
"Hehehe, yeeeeees Dashie?"
She just shook her head, chuckled and settled her muzzle in the crook of my neck.
"Nothing."
Yeah, I think I remember why I came here. It was worth it. Completely and totally worth it. I know without a doubt in my mind now that I made all the right decisions in coming here, because now I have a home, a job, a hobby I love and an awesome rainbow marefriend.
So now, here I am. Walking. With my marefriend on my back, walking to the pond with the rest of our friends to go swimming. I think it's because of them that I am glad I moved all the way out here. To this little remote town. Yeah, I'm sure now.
It was definitely worth it.
I'm twenty-one, living with my marefriend on occasion, with the best job I could ask for, doing something in my spare time that turned into a second job at times, but I still love. But most of all.
I don't think I'll ever look back, and that's just how it's going to stay.
