The cave was huge. Crystalline structures and tunnels stretched as far as the eye could see. Twilight glanced around. Aside from some scuffing on her clothes and a slightly strained ankle, she appeared to be fine. Whatever teleportation spell Cadance had used, she couldn't tell where she had landed.
“Enjoying the view?”
The voice was definitely Cadance's. It was impossible to tell where it was coming from.
“Show yourself!” Twilight shouted.
Cadance laughed. “If you insist.” Lights flashed through the cave, and a picture of Cadance's face appeared on one of the larger crystals. “Do you like the view? These caves are quite far beneath Canterlot. I believe some unicorns tried mining here or something a long time ago.”
“Do you expect some silly caves to stop me? I'll get out of here, and I'll expose you to everypony else!”
Cadance laughed again. It sounded like ground glass, short and rough. “Oh, wander around all you like. You'll never escape in time to rescue your brother.”
“You leave my brother alone, you witch!”
“Oh, and feel free to say hi to the real Cadance while you're down there. I imagine she could use some company.” The picture faded, though a faint chortle echoed through the cave.
The real Cadance? Twilight thought. Whatever that meant, it certainly didn't sound good.
She froze. She had definitely heard something. Sharp, heavy breathing.
Twilight tried to follow the noise. It sounded close, but it was hard to tell in the echo-laden cavern.
She turned a corner. Her hand reflexively covered her mouth in disgust. It certainly looked like Cadance—same hairstyle and body and face. Her pink dress also looked similar despite the layer of dirt coating it.
That was where the similarities stopped. Cadance was bound to one of the large crystal walls, her wrists glued to it by some green liquid. More of the stuff covered her mouth, and strands of it stood out sharply against the pink of her hair.

Twilight rushed over to her. “Cadance. By Celestia, what did that impostor do to you?”
Cadance didn't answer. Her eyes were closed, her head rested loosely against the crystal.
Twilight tore off a piece of her skirt. The goop didn't seem that dangerous, but it was best not to take chances. She certainly didn't want to use a spell to burn it off that close to Cadance's face.
She wrapped her hand in the strip of cloth, brought it up to Cadance's mouth. The gunk, whatever it was, was warm and sticky. She managed to pry it off, and tossed the soaked rag aside.
“Cadance?”
Cadance opened her eyes. They seemed dull, glazed over. Her mouth hung open, and for a moment it looked like she was trying to say something.
“Cadance, it's me, Twilight.”
Cadance's mouth moved again. Her words were barely audible even in the silence of the cave. “Twi-light?”
“Come on, we have to get you out of here. Especially before that impostor does whatever she's planning for Shining.”
“Shi-ning?” Cadance whispered.
Twilight freed Cadance's wrists easily. She slumped further down, her arms falling limply to her sides.
Twilight hooked Cadance's arm over her shoulders. Getting a grip on Cadance's waist was a little tricky, but despite the height difference she managed to pull both of them to their feet.
Cadance's legs wobbled, her mouth still hung open. Whatever they had done to her had taken its toll. Definitely too risky to levitate or teleport her in this condition.
Twilight took a step forward and Cadance matched it, just barely.
“It'll be okay, Cadance. We'll get out of here and expose that impostor. Then we can get you some medical treatment or something.”
Cadance's mouth moved, but no words came out.
It was slow. Every step took ages. It was probably impressive that Cadance's legs worked at all, but that didn't make it any less frustrating. There was no telling how long she had been down here, and Twilight tried to be gentle. The thought of that monster alone with her brother kept sneaking up on her, however, making her take larger steps than she should have.
Finally, an intersection came into view.
“Well, it's a start, I guess,” Twilight muttered. “Maybe I can cast a mapping spell or something and—”
Cadance dropped to her knees, dragging Twilight with her.
“Cadance? What's wrong? Did you—”
Cadance's mouth moved again.
“Cadance? What did you say?”
“Egg,” Cadance whispered.
Egg? Before Twilight could puzzle out what that meant, Cadance bent her legs, took her arm off Twilight.
The sound was not loud, but it didn't need to be. It filled the cave with slurping and squelching and the wet echoes were impossible not to hear.
Cadance moaned, planted her hands on the cavern floor. There was a wet, heavy thunk.
Twilight reached forward, slowly, gingerly. It was tempting to ignore whatever had just happened. She had to know, though. Medical procedure demanded she know as much as possible, and her disgust couldn’t override her common sense. If they were going to fix it later, she had to look.
She moved Cadance's dress aside. The slits in its side had become exaggerated after so much damage, and it did not resist.
She clamped her hand to her mouth again. More of the green slime was dripping out of Cadance's vagina and butt. A dark green egg sat on the cave floor, a pool of the gunk already hardening around it.

First it was mostly slime. It fell out of Cadance like a slow faucet, dripped down her legs, then onto her dress. Finally, it splattered onto the first egg, more drops following after.

Twilight forced herself to inch back towards Cadance. She had to help her. Whatever that imposter had done to her, this only reinforced how important escape was.
Twilight picked up Cadance again. She tried as hard as possible to keep her hand away from any particular area, but as they shuffled forward it was hard not to touch Cadance's skin now and then. The tears in her dress made it impossible to avoid.
“Don't...don't worry Cadance. We'll get out of here and Celestia will be able to fix you just fine. I'm...I'm sure the Canterlot doctors have dealt with worse things.”
They moved forward. It was a simple spell to make a compass or to locate places, so Twilight knew they wouldn't get lost. Then Cadance slumped to her knees again, whispered that word.
She kept laying eggs, over and over again. Twilight didn't bother to time it, or to count the eggs. It almost seemed like the frequency increased the more it happened. Part of her said that such information would be useful later for treating her condition, but the thought didn't help. She didn't even look each time Cadance did it, preferring to glance at a wall.
Finally, after what felt like hours, they arrived at a larger cavern. The crystals provided some light, but it was still a very dark place.
“Don't worry, Cadance. My spell says we're getting closer. We should emerge near the castle, then somebody can help us alert the princesses—”
Twilight froze. She had definitely heard something. Scraping or clicking or something like that.
“What was that?” she whispered.
“Eggs.” Cadance didn't kneel down.
Twilight tried to focus. Maybe that impostor had put something down here to guard them. It would only make sense. Her eyes began to glow and an orb of light bloomed in front of her. She grabbed it and threw it upwards, and it silently stuck to the ceiling.
She scanned the room. It was not as big as she had thought, but there were still plenty of branching tunnels that a guard might hide in.

A shadow shifted in one of the tunnels. She focused again, maybe a weak fire spell would scare it off, since the candle spell hadn't.

Finally, the creature stepped into the light. Though perhaps “skittered” would have been a better word; it crawled on all fours, each step making another soft click.
It looked like a regular person, or at least it had the body shape of one. No taller than a teenager, but it was proportioned just like an adult. The breasts and hips were certainly a testament to that. Its skin was solid black, but it didn't look like normal skin. It was slightly shiny, and Twilight could see the light from both her spells reflected in it. It looked up at her, and its teal, pupil-less eyes unnerved her immediately.

“Just what are you? Did that impostor put you here to guard us?”

Twilight turned back to the creature. More had joined it. They all looked the same, though their heights varied slightly.
She charged another spell. “So you are the guards then.”

“We're just stalling,” said another.
“The queen wanted to be here when you were defeated,” said the third.
Twilight fired her spell, and the creatures scattered. If it hit any of them, they didn't react to the pain.
“Cadance, I need you to stay behind me. There's no telling what these things—”
Twilight's sentence was cut off by another moan. Cadance had hunched over again, and the squelch of eggs echoed through the cave.
“Mmm, I never get tired of that sound.”
Twilight turned around. Cadance's doppelganger stood at one of the tunnels, her mouth curled up in a smile.
The impostor licked her lips. “I see you found the real Cadance. Did you two have a nice chat?”
Twilight fired the spell. A flash of purple and red and green lit the cave, but it faded quickly.
The fake Cadance was unharmed. Her cocky, hip-tilted pose hadn't moved an inch. “Was that all?”
“How did you block that?”
“Well, I have been feeding on your brother for quite a while now. Some little girl isn't going to be able to beat me with a simple fire spell.” She laughed. “You know, after all those stories about what a magical prodigy you are, I'm rather disappointed.”
Twilight began to charge another spell. She screamed. One of the smaller creatures had leapt onto her arm, dug its teeth into her bicep. She drew her hand back, tried to remember what Shining had taught her about punching, but another latched onto her other arm, dragged it down with its weight.
The fake Cadance strolled toward her. She licked her lips. “Mmm.” She unbuttoned her dress. “I love it when they struggle.”
Another one of the creatures had clamped onto each of Twilight's legs, and another was scurrying onto her back. Every time she tried to charge a spell, one of them would pinch or scratch or bite her and break her concentration.
“You...you won't get away with this.”

Before long you won't have a lot of things left in your head, and the name of your new mistress should be important.”

“Tsk tsk, so vulgar. I suppose we should skip straight to the training then.” Chrysalis knelt down, pushed aside Twilight's skirt.
Twilight tried to protest. A kick might've helped, but her legs had more of that goo plastered on them.

Her body deflated, she felt her head shift slightly. She took another long, slow breath. She dimly felt the walls of Chrysalis’ sack shrink slightly, bundle her together. This feels kind of nice. The color green overran her vision as the world melted and her thoughts ceased.
A gurgle leaked out of Chrysalis’ sack. Perhaps calling it that was a bit crude, but changelings didn’t really bother to name their own anatomy. She pulled her butt upwards, and her sack lurched and sloshed to match her movements. The cave rock did not make a good recliner.
“Finally. I thought that would never finish.” She pointed at two of the taller changelings, too lazy and sanguine to bother with telepathy. “You two. I’m going to give you the honor of helping Twilight leave my body.” She leaned forward, as best she could on the intolerable rock. “Don’t be gentle.”

A loud, uneven gasp echoed the cave. The puddle shifted, and a little dimple appeared in the center of it. Parts of it rose up, flattened and tried again. Finally, an opaque green finger poked out of the surface. Another followed, and another. A hand pushed through, followed by an arm. Then another arm, and the top of a familiar, flat haircut.
Twilight planted her gooey hands on the cave floor as she pulled her body up and out of the puddle. She coughed again, and the green spit sunk right back into the rest of her body. Twilight looked up. Her eyes and sclera looked off. Too transparent. Plus there was that green tint across everything.

Chrysalis smirked. “I broke your mind and turned you into my slave, remember?”

“Now, we have a rehearsal dinner to get to.” Chrysalis ran a hand through Twilight’s hair. It had individual strands, but it felt too slick. “Why don’t you concentrate a bit and solidify your skin. We can’t have any more suspicious people so close to my victory.”
Twilight closed her eyes. They scrunched together, and her skin slowly darkened, shifted colors, lost its green tint. Her eyes snapped open. “Is that better, mistress?”
“Perfect, you look just like your old self.” Chrysalis ran a finger across her new pet’s cheek. It felt just like real skin. Perhaps it was. Magic could do all sorts of things, and she had quite a lot of it. “When we get back to the castle, act natural.”
“Of course, mistress.” Twilight blinked, slowly and visibly. “I mean, Cadance.”
Chrysalis smiled. “Good girl.” She saw Twilight’s body shudder with pleasure at the compliment. It was almost enough to make her hard again. She would have plenty of time to test out the changes later, though. “Now get dressed. Have to seem normal. I should get changed myself.”
