Equestria's alchemy

Ed mumbled "Why did I think cutting though the Everfree was a good idea?!" he said moving a branch up over his head.

Fluttershy smiled and hummed softly as she walked with small birds flying by her head, she felt a sharp pain in her hind leg as the jaws of the trap snapped shut and the chain became full of tension, not letting her go any further. She fell to the ground and began to cry from the pain "Please go find someone to help me." she said and the birds took off towards the town. She sat their in the silence for a moment before she tried to move her leg, only to get a fresh feeling of pain shooting through her entire body and new tears forming and running down her cheeks, "Please. . . someone, anyone help me please . . . help me." she whispered to herself before screaming out in pain as if someone had just stepped on the jaws of the trap.

Ed looked up when heard a scream and began to run in the direction from the which the scream seemed to come from and took off in a full blown run, "Hello?! Is anyone there!" He yelled as he was running, he began to slow down a little to catch his breath and her heard faint sobbing. He began to run again before seeing a bit of what looked like open space between a couple of tree's and in his hurry he tripped over the roots that was sticking out of the ground and fell into the clearing. The sobbing was louder now, he got up and brushed the dust off of him and looked up seeing the light pink hair of a pony, "Ma'am? Are you alright?" he asked moving closer to her.

Fluttershy looked up and behind her at the stranger that had just appeared "Please, can you help me?" she asked wiping the tears away.

Ed nodded "Yeah, what happened?" he asked only to see the answer as he moved around the bush that was hiding most of her body from view, "My god..." he said as he crouched down to looked at the wound, "It'll be okay, I promise." he said as he looked at her leg.

Fluttershy watched him looking at her leg, "Can you get me out?" she asked holding back a yelp of pain as he touched the traps upper jaw.

He saw her cover her mouth and quickly slipped his right hand under the traps upper jaw and put his knee on the lower jaw, under his hand, "Okay, I'm going to open the jaw's and you pull your leg out okay?"

She nodded her head and got ready to pull as soon as he opened the jaw's, "Okay, one, two, three!" he said opening the jaw's as wide as they could go. Quickly she pulled her leg out, as soon as it was out he let the jaws go and the sound of metal on metal rang out from it. Ed quickly pulled his jacket off and ripped in half and began to wrap her leg up with it trying his best to stop the bleeding or to slow it down at the very least.

Fluttershy had passed out from the pain that shot through her as she pulled her leg out of the trap and blood loss. She awoke a little while later while Ed was running with her in his arms "Wh-Where are we?" she asked everything to her going in a blur.

Ed looked down at her and smiled slightly, "Good to see that you're awake, miss." he said before he jumped over a cart in his way, she heard the pony yell a few curse's at them while shaking a hoof at them. Ed rushed in and sat Fluttershy down on a chair in the waiting room and went to talk with the man behind the counter, she could see that the man was confused at why the stranger that had saved her was covered in blood before he looked over at her and saw the wrapped leg and quickly nodded his head as he pointed at her, seeming to understand. Ed walked back and picked her up not saying a word as they walked with the man to a room.

Ed sat in the waiting room for the ER "Come on please letter be okay." he said to himself, a few moments a nurse came out and walked over to him "Are you the one who brought the butterscotch mare?"

Ed looked up at her and nodded, "Yes that was me, did something happen?!" he said shooting strait up with concern in his voice. The nurse shook her head with a smile, "She'll be okay, if you will follow me please." she said before she began to walk down a hall. They walked in silence with the clip-clop of the nurses hooves on the tile floor. She opened the door to the room that Fluttershy was in, "She's asleep still, but she should wake up anytime." the nurse said before leaving Ed standing in-front of Fluttershy's room.

Fluttershy woke up to her hoof being held by the stranger that had saved her, "H-Hello," she said softly, she slowly looked at her surroundings, "where I-I'm I?" she asked to no one in particular only to have it answered by a new voice.

"Your in the hospital Miss, you got your leg got in a hunters trap, do you remember?" the doctor asked while he walked over the opposite side of the bed she was in, "If it wasn't for your friend here you might have bleed out." he said looking at Ed before he looked down at her again and picked up a small cup of water, "You must be thirsty after all of that." he said as he placed in-front of her and let her drink it all down before refilling the cup, he sat it down on the table next to her. A nurse walked in and whispered something to the doctor before the doctor said his farewells and left the two in the room.

Ed looked around trying to think of something that he could say to break the silence that the doctor had left them with, "I guess I should ask you what your name is." he said after awhile of thinking.

"Fluttershy and you are?" She said with a smile. Ed returned the smile, "Edward Elric, but you can call me Ed." He said seeing her gaze shift to his arm, "I'll tell you the story if you want." he said shifting his position in the chair. Fluttershy smiled and found a better place to lay and waited for Ed to begin.

Ed sighed after he finished his story and looked down, "So, that's my life story." he said not wanting to look up at the pony for some odd reason.

Fluttershy sat in silence for a moment before she moved over and hugged him the best she could, "I sorry for having you bring up bad memories." she said in a soothing voice. She held a little longer before letting go of him.

"It's fine, I'm used to telling the story by now and I'm happy that I have the automail arm and leg, I met some pretty nice and some pretty funny people if it wasn't for this happening to me." he said as he hugged her back with a smile, "Anyway it's best not to dwell on the past." he said as he stood and stretched.

A nurse came in a hour or so later, "Visiting hours are over now." she said and Ed sighed, "I'll see yeah tomorrow if that's alright?" he said standing up.

Fluttershy nodded, "Of course I don't mind at all, I would to love here more of your stories." she said with a smile. Ed smiled at her and waved as he walked out, "Alright see you tomorrow."

The next day Ed walked in and smiled when he saw Fluttershy only to jump back when a cotton candy pink pony decided to appear out of nowhere and begin to ask him questions, "WHOAREYOUANDWHYAREYOUHERE!" the pink pony asked him as she pushed in back into a wall.

"Pinkie would you mind leaving Ed alone?..." Fluttershy asked almost in a whisper. The other four stood their ground and began to yell questions as well. Fluttershy pulled the sheets over her face slightly.

Ed just stood their and listened to the question that where being thrown at him, "Is everyone done yelling now?" he asked once the room had gone quiet. The five ponies now stared at him waiting to see if he was going to say anything, "Well? Are you going to start explaining?" a white cream color pony asked. Ed sighed, "I'm Edward Elric, I'm a state alchemist and I'm the one who saved your friend from the trap that the doctor hopefully should have mentioned to you before hand." he said calmly, but with the anger in his tone.

After a long while of explaining things to them and learning the names of all them, Ed finally relaxed a bit and let them tell stories of past adventures with each other, along with Ed telling them his adventures with his brother and other people he's met along his journey. Fluttershy smiled and giggled at some of the funny parts that her friends and Ed had said in their stories.

The doctor came in and the whole room became quiet as the doctor cleared his throat, "We will be releasing Miss Fluttershy tomorrow since she's taken to the blood transfusion well, along with her friends being by her side she should recover quickly." he said with a smile on his face. Everyone returned the smile and celebrated that Fluttershy was be released so early from the hospital, later a nurse came in and began to change Fluttershy's bandages, Ed and everyone stayed so the nurse can explain how to change the bandages and when to change them, "And their you have it fresh new bandages." said the nurse as she finished doing the new wrap up, "Hope you have a nice returning home welcome." said the nurse as she left. Later that evening they all said their goodbyes and that they would help her with whatever she needed once she got back to her cottage.

The next afternoon Ed, Twilight, and Twilight's friends helped Fluttershy back to her cottage and began to argue over who will stay to watch over her while she recovered from the wound. Ed just found a comfortable seat and sat in it while he listened to them fight about it, "ENOUGH!" Fluttershy yelled at everyone, "now it would be lovely to have you girls help me out, but you all have important things to do."

"But Fluttershy, you need to have someone look over you while you recover." Twilight said with concern more than obvious in her voice.

Fluttershy nodded her head, "Yes, and I have someone in mind." she said looking past all of them to find Ed sitting on a chair.

Ed looked up feeling all their eyes on him, "What?" he asked to see if anyone would explain why they where all looking at him.

They all stood there in silence before Rarity broke the silence, "Why would you choose um... Well him darling?" she asked looking at Fluttershy with a questioning face.

"Because he saved me Rarity." she said calmly.

Rarity had a look of pain on her face before coming up with a reply, "yes I know darling, but you don't know a whole lot about him. For all we could know is that he's lying about being a state whatever you call it, he could really be a murderer or a rapist for all we know!" she said forgetting that he was in the same room as her.

All of a sudden you hear the sound of a single clap before a hissing sound, all eyes turn to Ed who now had a blade coming from his right arm, "You want to see proof that I am a state alchemist then here you go!" he said tossing his watch over to them.

Twilight caught it in her vale of magic and looked at it closely, "It is indeed a state alchemist watch," she said looking up from it, "what's your code name?" she asked with a bit of a smile.

"Fullmetal." he said with a smile. He changed his arm back to it's original form and sat down while the five ponies huddled together.

"So what do you girls say?" Twilight whispered. Apple jack looked at the others, "I say one of us stay the night with Fluttershy, ya'no  just ta make sure he trust worthy." The other four looked at each other and nodded their heads, "Alright," said Rainbow dash, "who's going to stay the night?" she asked another question that was dwelling on their minds, Rarity thought for a moment, "It should be someone who can move quickly. Aj or you Rainbow." Rarity said looking from Apple jack to Rainbow dash.

Fluttershy just sat their with a confused look on her face as they continued to talk without including her her.

After some time of talking Twilight handed Ed's watch back to him and cleared her throat, "We have made a concluded our little meeting. Since we're still a little skeptical on you Ed we're going to have Rainbow dash stay the night with you and Fluttershy, just to make sure you don't pull anything funny." she said looking over at Rainbow as she finished speaking.

Ed smiled as he leaned forward, "Fine by me, but I call couch." he said dropping the smile and replacing it with a stone cold face.
