Rarity's new dress
It's a sunny day in ponyville and at the carousel boutique Rarity is almost finished with her latest dress for a pony Pegasus Fancy Feather. Fancy Feather requested rarity to make one of the most complicated designs she has ever heard of...it also had to be made by hoof.
"And...finished" Rarity said with a yawn. She has been up all night working on the finishing touches for the dress. Rarity looked up at the clock "Dear Celestia, it's morning already? I hope Twilight has a spell to keep me awake for when Fancy Feathers shows up....stop it Rarity, talking to yourself isn't ladylike." She said as she was about to trot out the front doors of the boutique, Sweetie Belle came running down the stairs.
"Rarity..." Sweetie belle said, without a smile in the morning, for once.
Rarity yawns "Yes, sweetie?"
"Can you walk to school with me?"
Rarity gives Sweetie a questioning look...but yawns again "Why...you walked to school with your friends all those times."
"Oh...I thought we could have sister time walking to the school" Sweetie Belle was afraid that if she told her about Diamond Tiara, and if Rarity took up on the subject, it would make it worse for her and Tiara.
"I'm sorry sweetie-" Rarity yawns "-Belle, I'm going over to Twilight's right now"
"...okay rarity" Sweetie belle looks down at her hooves
"Cheer up Sweetie...I promise, once you get home, you can have ice cream" Rarity said as she put a hoof on her sister's shoulder
"Really?!" Sweetie belle said in her squeaking voice bouncing up and down.
"Yes, really" Rarity said and then thought 'if she and pinkie were in a bouncing contest, they'd have some competition...and I better but some ice cream after going to Twilight's'
"Yay! Thanks rarity, and your dress looks great! Bye" Sweetie hugged Rarity and ran out the door to her school
Rarity smiled and walked out of the boutique and started trotting to Twilight's. When she got there, there was a sign on the door saying "Library Closed". Rarity knew it meant either Twilight wasn't really there or she was in the middle of intense studying. "Great...I guess I'll have to try to stay awake...guess I'll go get the Ice cream." Rarity starting trotting to the shopping district when she got there, it was busy. Rarity groaned and tried to walk through the colorful river of ponies. She was bumped into a couple times, but nothing bad happened and she got the ice cream. She paid the stallion running the freezer stand and put the tub of ice cream in her saddle bags, and she walked back to the boutique.
Rarity arrived at the boutique, she felt like her hooves were going to give out on her "I should've at least gotten a little sleep" rarity said opening the front door to the boutique. She walked in, afraid something might've happened to her dress, but everything was just as it was when she left. With a sigh of relief, she went into the kitchen and put the ice cream in the freezer. Rarity looked at the clock and felt like she should hurry for...something. It took her a few minutes, but she then realized it was Sunday. "Oh no, I gotta get to the spa, quick!" When rarity opened the door a yellow Pegasus had her hoof raised, she then put down the hoof.
"Hello Rarity" Fluttershy said in her quiet voice, as usual.
"Oh dear, fluttershy, I'm sorry, I almost for got our spa date today." Rarity said walking out of her boutique and locking the door
"Oh it's not a problem at all Rarity, I was just coming over to tell you about the spa" says Fluttershy with a kind smile. Fluttershy looked through the window on Rarity's door and she sees Rarity's new design for the dress, "You're making a new dress?"
"Hm? Oh, yes, I am. I got an order to make a dress for a party, how does it look?" Rarity says with a bit of worry in her voice.
"Well....um...." Fluttershy says, trying to figure out what to say about the dress.
"It's...?"
"Well....it doesn't really look original, the thread should be a darker shade, judging by the holes, she's a Pegasus, so the holes for wings should be wider, and you got to work on the neck a bit...I mean if that's okay with my opinion." Fluttershy said, trying to not hurt her friend's feelings.
"Oh....I see....so it isn't....original...." Rarity said, feeling a slight eye twitch with it being the 2nd time Fluttershy knew better about dresses, and that Fluttershy disagreed with her dresses, yet again.
"I-I'm sorry if it hurt your feelings......."
"No, it's quite alright darling, no harm done....." Rarity said basically choking on her breath.
"Oh, for a second there, I thought I hurt your feelings...."
"Not at all darling, now let us get to the spa, we have relaxing to do." Rarity starts trotting to their usual spa, with her yellow Pegasus friend behind her.
It was a long trot to the spa as Rarity was getting bumped into again and again by mares and stallions, "I swear, ponies have to learn some manners, one way or another."
As that was said, the two spa ponies, Aloe and Lotus, show up through the backroom and start their usual greeting, "Good morning, I'm Aloe" said the blue spa pony.
"And I'm Lotus" said the pink spa pony.
"How may we serve you today?" the sisters said at the same time.
"Good morning Aloe and Lotus, the usual please" said Rarity. The two ponies nodded and took Rarity and Fluttershy to the massage room where nothing major happened, other than a normal conversation with the sisters, so after the massage, they went for their usual mud bath. Rarity slid into the mud bath with a sigh of relief with the soothing mud wrapping itself around her coat. The two spa ponies placed the face cream all over Rarity's face and only one dot on each side of Fluttershy's cheeks, "Thank you darlings."
"We'll come back once your 15 minutes are up." Aloe said with a smile. Rarity nodded for approval and lays down in the bath as did Fluttershy.
"So Fluttershy darling, you say I need to make adjustments to my dress?" Rarity asked her yellow friend.
"Um...I-I'm not saying you have to, but....i-it's m-my opinion....." Fluttershy said, again afraid that she hurt her friend's feelings.
"Well I really need advice I guess, I remember from the gala after I made those adjustments you asked for, your dress turned out simply marvelous." Rarity told Fluttershy, implying that her feelings were not hurt.
After about 10 minutes of no conversation, Aloe and Lotus walk in the room and announce that their time has expired. Rarity and Fluttershy get out of the mud baths and uses the towels to get the mud off. Unfortunately, it was the end of the two friends' spa date. Rarity said goodbye to Fluttershy before she walked home and Fluttershy just waved her hoof, signaling goodbye.
"Alright Rarity, you just need to make some small adjustments to the dress, no big deal, it isn't like everypony hates it or anything.......right?" Rarity said, talking to herself again.
It wasn't long when Rarity reached her boutique, unfortunately, she was caught up in her rant and she ran into her front door, "Ow....stupid door." Rarity said as she unlocked at opened the door and walked into her boutique and walked over to her dress. Even though she knew she had to make a few adjustments thanks to fluttershy's advice, she was too tired for any of it, she almost fell asleep in the mud bath several times.
As Rarity was just about to head to her room for much needed sleep, but there was a knock at her door. With a groan of frustration, she walked to her front door and opened it, "I'm sorry but the boutique is-....Oh, Mrs. Fancy Feather!"
"I suppose that you weren't expecting me?" Fancy feather asked Rarity.
"Yes...well no, I mean....would you like to see your dress?" Rarity asked Fancy. Fancy Feather nodded and Rarity walked into the backroom, where she keeps all of her projects. Rarity walked to one in particular that was yellow and and few green strips at the collar, there were several feathers in the back of the dress with different varieties of colors and one long sash going around the body of the dress, "Well this is your dress to the gala..." Rarity said with nervousness cracking in her voice.
Fancy Feather went around the dress, expecting it for any issues or problems, "Hmm....this dress is...." Fancy feather said cutting herself off, while Rarity waited in suspense, "This dress is...not something I'd wear."
Rarity thought she felt her heart stop as she heard those 4 words, "not something I'd wear." Rarity has never once heard those words other than when she made a stage for that ventriloquist pony or whatever he used puppets for, she just never heard it for a dress.
Fancy Feather walked past Rarity and looked back at her, saying "I'll take my business elsewhere." with that, Fancy Feather left Rarity's boutique.
