“Mom! I’m heading to school!” shouted Bab Seed as she was leaving her apartment.
“Alright sweetie, have a nice day,” replied Babs mom getting ready for work. “Remember to look both ways before crossing the street!”
“Yeah, yeah,” said Babs as she closed the front door behind her.
Heading down stairs she head over to the subway to get over to the school.
The subway of Manehattan for those who never been there is also one of the most filthiest places ever known to pony kind, so after getting off the train, Babs quickly ran thru some sprinklers when she reached her school.
“Ahh!” said Babs when the ice cold water came in contact with her coat. “Forgot it’s winter.”
“Hey Babs!” yelled a filly’s voice. Turning around Babs saw a filly with a with dark blue mane and a grassy green coat with no cutie mark on her flank. “How are you doing?”
“Oh, morning Vera, doing good,” replied Babs shaking her coat. “You’ve seen Seashell anywhere?”
All of a sudden a white maned filly with a light blue coat and no cutie mark either came rushing thru. “Omc, girls!” shouted Seashells shaking Babs. “Do you know what's happening today!?”
“Iiiiiii cannnn’tttt ttteelll,” said Babs jittering. “Sttttttoopp shaaakingggg meeee!”
“Oh sorry,” said Seashells dropping her friend and fellow cutie mark crusader. “But do you know what's happening!?”
“Ummm, you're eating pizza later?” asked Vera.
“No!” said Seashell.
“Then what?” said Babs.
getting on her knees and with a smile on her face, Seashell screamed up to the sky in a sing song voice “We have a substitute teacher today!”
After a few seconds of silence, Vera spoke first. “Umm, what class?”
“Oh, it’s-oh no,” said Seashells.
“Oh no?” said Babs. “Which period is that?”
“No I mean “oh no” as in look!” she yelled pointing to two fillies one pink and the other red with a bit as a cutie mark for the pink one and a arrow on a graph pointing up for the other.
“Well, well, if it isn’t the blank flanks,” said the pink one causing her friend to chuckle.
“What do you want Mint?” groaned Babs to the pink one.
“Oh nothing, just to remind you to do well on the test today,” said Mint. “Come on Stock, lets leave these cutie mark losers to their blank flanks,” she said to the red pony as they climbed the school stair laughing all the while.
“I really hate it when they do that,” groaned Babs.
“Ah, don’t listen to them Babs.” said Vera. “They’re just jealous you know two celebrities,” he said before whispering. “And get to be near that stud muffin Coil.”
Blushing at this Babs said. “Y-ya think so?”
“I know so,” said Vera smirking. “By the way Seashell, you were saying what class had the sub?”
“Huh? Oh yeah! its our last class, science that we have a sub,” said Seashells as the girls headed into the school building.
“Huh, wonder who it will be.”
The sound of a bell made the girl run to their first class.
after awhile they had lunch outside while stining on a table.
“Hey Babs, what ya writing?” asked Seashell hanging from the oak tree above them.
“Nothing!” said Babs as she threw the paper into her bag.
“Aww, come on Babs,” said Vera. “We know your writing love poetry for Coil.”
“No I’m not!” shouted Babs.
“It’s alright Babs,” said Seashells. “We your friends you can trust us with your secr-”
The last class of the day bell rung stopping from seashells from continuing.
“We’ll talk about this later,” said Babs as she and her friends went inside.
“So whos the sub teacher anyway?” asked a colt along with a bunch of other students as Babs and her friends waited for the teacher to show up.
“Hmpph, well whoever it is better have a good reason for being late,” said Mint.
All of a sudden the sound of drums came down the hallway causing the foals to look at its direction. What Babs saw shocked her to her core.
Coil Sparks in a over suit and with a beating drum at he played it was trotting into the room while everypony just looked stupefied.
“Hello class!” shouted Coil. “I am Coil Sparks and I will be your teacher today!” he said writing his name on the chalkboard. “any questions before we begin?”
“Coil!?” shouted Babs causing her to blush at her outburst.
“Bab! I didn’t know that you went to this school,” said Coil ruffling the filly hair causing the class to laugh. “Don’t worry though I am completely qualified to teach...as a temp. So class according to this schedule that your teacher left me, it seems we have a test today!”
The class groaned at this before stopping.
“So everybody take a slip of paper with the question on it and answer each one to your fullest full!’ grinned Coil as the bored looking foals got a slip. “And remember no cheating alright? Good, begin!” he said ringing a bell.
After a bit of writing Babs looked at Coil with a blush before continuing till out of the corner of her eye she saw Mint smirk at her. “What is Mint up to?” thought Babs before being answered.
Raising her hoof Mint said “Mr. Coil?”
Looking up from his pigeon book Coil replied. “Yes miss Mint?”
“Babs has a note on the ground I think its a cheat sheet!” she said pointing at a note next to Babs before sitting back down with a smirk while Coil picked it up
“Why that little-oh no!” screamed internally Babs for the note that Coil had just picked up was the love poetry of him she had written.
“Babs I’m disappointed in you,” said Coil before opening the note.
“Wait Coil don’t!” shouted Babs but by then it was already too late.
My dearest Coil Sparks whose light burns like a lark(what rhymes with lark? Forget it I’ll go free verse!) whose dark hair is beauty beyond compare and whose mustache I would gladly pull upon a kiss from his lips

Looking up with wide eyes, Coil just looked at Babs who looked like she was about to cry.
“Babs…” said Vera and Seashell in pity knowing what Coil had just read.
A bell rang signalling the class was to leave for home, but Babs just stood silent staring down at her desk while her friends said they would wait for her outside.
The room stood silent as Coil brought his eyes to Babs level.
“Babs? Are you okay?” said Coil brushing some hair out of her eyes.
“I-I-I understand If you don’t want to know me anymore,” said Babs with a tear rolling down her cheek.
“Awww, Babs,” said Coil giving her a hug. “I could never stop being friends with you.”
“But the note?” said Babs with gleaming eyes. “Now you know I have a, well, crush on you.”
“Babs listen,” said Coil causing Babs to stare at him. “Now I won’t lie, I don’t see you that way.”
“Ohh,” said Babs her heartbreaking. “I’ll just g-’
“At least not now anyway,” said Coil.
“Huh?!” said Babs her hearting gluing back together.
“Tell you what,” said Coils with a smile. “You pass the semester final with a straight A when your teacher comes back and when you become a full grown mare(32), I’ll go on a date with you. How’s that sound, hmm?”
Babs just stood there with a huge smile. “O-okay!” said Babs before rushing of leaving a smiling Coil behind.
“I’m sure she’ll outgrow it and forget it,” Thought Coil cleaning up. “I mean what’s the wor-”
“Cutie Mark Crusaders date waiters!” shouted Vera, Seashells, and a smiling Babs inside her apartment.
