//-------------------------------------------------------// A.K yearlings day -by The Silver Shroud- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// lucky pen //-------------------------------------------------------// lucky pen Celestias sun shone thru the window of Daring Dos house as she awoke from her dream. “Ehh ,eemm, stop Ahuizotl, thats my mayo!” Daring screamed as she awoke from her nightmare. “Huh? Oh just another nightmare. Note to self: must stop eating subs before sleeping.” Getting out of bed she headed over to the bathroom to wash her teeth. “Brush, brush , brush,” she sung while brushing before spitting. “Well might as well make some toast I guess, got a full day ahead of me.” After having her toast with some water Daring headed over to the houses study. The study was filled to the brim with tomes of knowledge and souvieineers from excavations such as a ceremonial pot from the zebra tribes down in the valley of stripes. “Hmm, I really got to clean this place up don’t I? she asked herself before sitting down to get to work. “Hmmm, lets see what should I write about today….oh!” she shouted remembering a week ago her incident with Dr. Glass. “Hmm got to remember to find out where he is now,” she thought before saying “okay! Lets write!” After a hour or so she read some of what she had written. “Huh, seems Glass knows how to tighten his ropes better than last time, dang griffon.” thought Daring to herself. “Still though, none the wiser about the problems of leaving a bound pegasus with her wings open. Moving around, Daring eventfully was able to unfold her wing and bring the tip to her mouth. “Okay this is gonna sting.” she said before plucking a feather from her wings. “Oucf!” said a muffled Daring. “Okay now I nof I saw it around here….where it is!” announced Daring her sights on a toolbox with a padlock on it. “Bet there's something sharp in that toolbox.” said Daring to herself before hopping over to the toolbox. “Ok, here I go!” thought Daring before proceeding to rock side to side in the chair causing it to fall over on its side. A muffle sound of pain aside Daring saw her luck was on her side for this lockpicking, taking the feather Daring was able to pick the lock…” “Hmmm, ponies might not think that’s what I did, I mean the feather does seem a little exaggerated,” thought Daring while biting on her eraser. “Then again that is what happened,” thought Daring before hearing a knock on her door. “Huh? Who is it?!” she shouted heading to the door. Opening it she saw a mail stallion pegasus with a letter in his hoof. “Greetings, madam,” the stallions said with a tip of his hat. Letter from Manehattan for you,” he said handing over the letter with sweat on it. “Thank you,” Darling said taking the letter by the dry part. “Anything else for me?” “Well umm, could you sign this copy of “Daring Do and the sapphire stone for me!?” asked the stallion with a smile while holding up the book. “Uh, sure. Why not?” said Daring taking the book and sighing it. “Thanks!” shouted the stallion before flying off. “Oy fans,” said Daring before closing the door. Looking at the letter she cut it open and read it aloud. “Dear-dang it the sweat from the stallion smudged my name, oh well not like I can’t read the rest right?” Daring said before continuing. It’s me, grandad, how is baby grandfilly doing? “Grandpa,” said Daring groaning at the being called a filly. Anyway even though I wished you would write more I understand with you being busy excavting dozens of sites (even though it is dangerous!) I was hoping you would still come to my companies product party.  Now I know you don’t like coming to big cities, but the appearance of a famous author such as yourself would do wonders for the company. I’ll understand if you don’t wanna come it’s fine….like how it was fine when you left my house years ago leaving your sickly grandpa to fend off the cold embrace of death, but you know what's done is done. Anyway love you always my little compass, signed grandpa “Sheesh grandad, you really know how to guilt trip don’t you?” said Daring writing a responding letter. Dear Grandpa, Fine I’ll come, but only for a few days and you have to promise to go do stuff with me around town alright? I just have to do a book signing and some short expedition that will take three months, but I’ll be at your house for the party right on time, on the condition that you and I go walk around the city, I’ll see you in a few months Love your granddaughter “Oh that reminds me!” said Daring quickly stuffing the letter into a develop. “Gotta pack for my trip to ponet,” said Daring rushing to her room. After packing all the pencils clothing and other necessities she would need Daring was ready to go when she remembered something. “Almost forgot my lucky pen,” she said taking out a velvet box from her nightclub, inside was a bronze fountain pen with the words “The best adventure is with you” on it. Looking at it for a moment Daring felt  a feeling she always hated having to feel. “I-I'm sorry," she muttered to the pen who responded with no words at all. Putting the pen away Daring then headed over to the doors and windows to make sure everything was locked while she was away. “don’t wanna have robbers,” she said to herself closing the upstairs bedroom window.  “Okay lets make sure we got everything,” said Daring. Got food, clothes, extra pencils and paper, some books to read and my lucky pen,” she said with the last one being said with a sigh. “Come on Yearling!” she said to herself. “No time for depression, there's adventure to be had!” she shouted closing the door behind her as she headed onto a new adventure
