Even after the vampire fruitbats had been removed from Applejack's farm, the orchards were apparently still being raided.

They had expected to see straggling fruit bats attacking the apples during the stakeout.

What Twilight and the others didn't expect was to see Fluttershy sitting in a tree, hissing at them and sucking an apple totally dry.

Ah've been doin' a stakeout
And Ah spy up ahead!
It could be a fruit bat
Catchin' mah eye!
It's up hanging in the orchard...and it's lookin' at me
