Discord woke up, clenching his fists. He’d just had the most horrible dream. He sat on the side of his bed and yawned. He stood up and stretched, and walked to the other side of his bedroom where a massive window was. Looking out, he saw the sun rise over the hills in the distance.
He sighed, and placed his face against the glass window. “Why did I have that dream?” He pondered the thought. His dream… well, it was childish, to say the least. He was thinking that he could even be loved, or at least have love returned, by a certain somepony he cared for. How could he stoop so low?
His thinking was interrupted by a knocking on the door. “Come in.” he grumbled.
Luna opened the door, trying not to smirk. “Looks like the god of chaos has a crush on somepony~” Luna mocked.
Discord smacked himself in the face. “You know about my dream….Don’t you?” He murmured, as he looked at the window.
“Of course I do, Discord. Whenever somepony, in your case somedraconequus, is having a troubling dream, I get a signal to tell me I should stop it. I thought your dream would be about you just worrying that you would take over Equestria again. But…I was wrong. By the way….” Luna picked up a book with her magic and hit Discord in the head. “…You should be glad I don’t tell Tia or Twilight about this.”
Luna put the book back and walked out of the draconequus’s room. Discord rubbed the back of his head as he saw Luna walk out of the room.
“Ugh… Luna’s right. I should be glad nopony else knows about this.”
“Mister Discord?” A familiar voice rang out from the doorway. “Breakfast is ready. The princesses are already at the table, and would like for you to join them.”
“I’ll be there in a second, Rags.” He said back to the young servant pony. Rags had been at the castle since she was young, and worked as a servant for the princesses and their guests.
“Yes, sir,” Rags said. She bowed and walked back to the dining hall.
Discord sighed. He looked at himself in the mirror. He felt so ashamed. “Just keep it cool,” He said to himself. “Keep it cool.”
He left the room and walked downstairs to the dining hall. Celestia, Luna and Blueblood sat at the end of the table. Luna smirked as Discord sat down at the table next to her.
Rags came in to the dining hall levitating four plates of food and a large bowl; three plates of daisy sandwiches, with a side of hoof cakes and a glass of water, and a plate with a cotton candy sandwich and a glass of chocolate milk, and the large bowl contained an arrangement of muffins.
“Here you go,” Rags said, placing the plates in front of the four and the muffin bowl in the middle. “Enjoy your meal.”
Celestia levitated a muffin over to the young servant. “Here Rags. You deserve it for your hard work.”
Rags looked at the princess as if she had two heads. “Are you sure, Princess?” Celestia nodded her head. Rags took the muffin with her magic and walked away from the table.
Blueblood scoffed. “Really Aunt Celestia? Giving a muffin to a servant pony?”
“Blueblood, you really must be more kind to the servant ponies. That mare is only a little younger than you, you know. She’s been working her since she was 6. She deserves something better to eat than that lesser food we normally feed the servants.” Celestia said.
Luna started to crack up. “That’s funny that you would say that, Blueblood. I’ve seen your dreams, young stallion.”
Blueblood’s cheeks turned a deep crimson. The two princesses laughed. Even Discord chuckled, though he was in a bad mood.
The princesses and Blueblood started eating their breakfast right away, while Discord sat there, looking down at his plate in disgust. He wasn’t in the mood to eat. Especially cotton candy.
“Discord?” Celestia said, levitating her sandwich. “Why aren’t you eating? Cotton candy sandwiches are your favorite.”
Discord sighed. “I-I’m just not hungry right now, okay?” He got up, and pushed in his chair. “I’ll be in my room if anypony needs me.”
Discord walked back up to his room. He shut the door behind him and sunk to the ground. He just wanted to not think. He didn’t want to sleep, though, fearing he’d have the same dream again. How would he get that vile thought out of his mind?
Luna stood in the dining hall and watched Rags clean up the table. She could see why Prince Blueblood took a liking to her. She was a nice young mare, and she seemed very mature. She would always greet the guests with kindness and make them feel at home.
Rags noticed Luna standing there. “Princess Luna? Did you need anything?”
“Yes, Rags. I want you to talk to Discord. He needs to talk to somepony. He’s sorta alone in a situation. I was hoping you could help. I doubt he wants to talk to me about it.”
Rags bowed. “Anything else?”
“And… Tell him that you want information in return.” Luna smirked.
Rags walked upstairs to Discord’s room. She knocked on the door. No response. “Mister Discord? It’s me, Rags.”
The door opened. Discord was standing there, his expression slightly crazed.
“Are you okay, Mister Discord?” Rags said, waving a hoof in the draconequus’s face.
“I-I’m fine. What do you want, Rags?” Discord said, his face plastered with a frown.
Rags wasn’t convinced. Luna was right. He did need somepony to talk to. “Princess Luna told me to talk to you. She says you had a problem. And… she told me that you have information for me.”
Discord sighed. He knew he couldn’t completely trust her. “Okay, fine.” Discord said, pulling Rags by the hoof. “Just promise me that you won’t tell anypony.” He closed the door.
“Y-Yes sir,” Rags said. “What happened?”
“L-Look… I had a dream last night about my best friend. Do you know her?”
“Miss Fluttershy? Yes, I know her.”
“Well, the reason I couldn’t eat this morning is because of that dream. I had no appetite, and I couldn’t bear to look at cotton candy.”
“What happened in your dream?”
Discord blushed. “Fluttershy and I were lying on a cotton candy cloud. It seemed like any normal dream I had, but in this dream, we kissed a few times then… well, I won’t get too graphic you since you’re a young mare, but our bodies entwined. Ever since that dream, I’ve felt so ashamed of myself.”
Rags was blushing. She didn’t think Mister Discord even thought about anypony like that. Rags cleared her throat. “Did telling somepony that make you feel better?”
Discord smiled. “Yeah. That did help a bit.”
Rags nodded. “Okay, then. Since I helped you, you have to help me, sir. What was that information Princess Luna was talking about?”
“Okay, this might be a shock to you. But… The Prince has a crush on you.”
Rags was silent. She was surprised by this notion. “Th-The Prince has a c-c-crush on me?!”
“Shh! We don’t want him to know.” Discord said, putting a claw to the mare’s mouth.
“Sorry, Mister Discord. Should I tell him myself?”
Discord pondered the thought. “Yeah. I think you should. If you two end up together, you’ll make the gossip column in the newspaper.”
Rags smiled. Nodding, she exited the room.
Discord smiled. Talking really does help when you’re in a bad situation.
“I’m still not gonna eat cotton candy for today.” Discord said, looking at a slanted picture on the wall.
After Celestia had set the sun that day….
Rags skipped around the castle. Her dark red mane flew behind her ears, and an adorable smile covered her face. The castle staff looked at her with confusion. She had never looked so happy.
Rags was normally a little gloomy, often seen fixing servant attire with old fabric scraps, when not assigned something to do that day. It made sense for her to be in charge in sewing clothes back together, because her cutie mark was a stitched fabric swatch with a heart in the middle (And her name is Rags for Celestia’s sake).
Rags skipped up the spiral staircase to the bedrooms of the royalty. The first room was Blueblood’s, so she knocked on the door.
“Who is it?” Blueblood asked from inside the bedroom.
“Um, it’s me, Rags.”
Blueblood’s heart skipped a beat. He had been reading a book ever since he’d gotten back upstairs from this evening’s dinner. He placed down the book on a dresser and walked over to the door.
He opened the door and saw Rags standing there. He gawked slightly, his mouth hanged open and eyes stared for a few moments.
“Um… Prince Blueblood?” Rags said, waving a hoof in Blueblood’s face.
Blueblood broke out of his trance and cleared his throat. “What did you want, Rags?”
Rags frowned. “You don’t need to act like that. I know that you have feelings for me.” This caused Blueblood to blush. Rags giggled. She smiled up at him and placed a hoof on his shoulder. “I like you too.”
Blueblood smiled back and kissed Rags on the lips. Rags was surprised, but kissed him back.
Discord and Luna were having a conversation as they walked past the other royal bedrooms.
Suddenly, Luna put her hoof up to stop Discord from talking. Pointing her hoof, she said, “Discord, look!” She was pointing to the two unicorns that were kissing.
“We should walk past them slowly… And bring it up tomorrow.” Discord whispered.
“Good idea.” Luna responded.
Suddenly, Blueblood pulled Rags into the bedroom, causing the draconequus and the alicorn to crack up.
“Betcha I can tell Tia first!” Discord yelled childishly.
Luna ran after him, almost tripping over her own hooves.
By the time she got down the spiral staircase, she saw Discord talking to Celestia, who was looking particularly annoyed.
“...then Blueblood pulled her into his room.” Discord said.
Celestia rolled her eyes. “Discord, I don’t really care at the moment. Yes, yes, that is… nice for Blueblood, but it’s not that important. If I was a newspaper writer, than I would be more interested.”
Discord pouted. “Don’t be surprised if either Luna or I bring it up tomorrow at breakfast.”
Celestia sighed. She felt like one of the only one in the castle that was an adult.
