Load Full StoryNext ChapterThe large white alicorn, known by all ponies as Princess Celestia, closed the door to the balcony behind her. It had become a thing for her recently to stand on her balcony as she rose the sun, watching her sunrise. Today, she had nothing planned. After musing over possible activities, she had decided to read over some of her past. Living for such a long time, no pony could be expected to remember everythingthat had happened to them.
Celestia left her room and headed towards the castle's library, nodding to a few guards on her way. Settling down, Celestia levitated a few hidden diaries towards herself and placed them on a table, then proceeding to read the one which seemed to be the oldest of the group.
Upon reading the words, Celestia could remember clearly the events described in the book.
Celestia glanced around, not seeing many ponies as she did such. Looking behind her to make sure her sister was catching up to her. The phoenix which had not long found the two fillies, slightly larger than the modern day Cutie Mark Crusaders, had landed on a tree not too far a ways from Celestia's current position on a small hill.
"Make haste Luna!" the alicorn called out.
"We are coming as fast as we can!" The reply came, the voice obviously belonging to one younger than Celestia. " Why doth thou trust that bird to lead us to others?"
"Dost thou have any better solution sister?" Celestia asked in reply.
"No" Luna replied, looking at the ground for a moment.
The phoenix called out, alerting the two alicorns to an oncoming presence, though the alarm in the bird's call signified it was not a pony.
Celestia rushed ahead, looking over the brow of the hill, seeing a strange little creature looking out of a bush. She knew this was what the phoenix, with the current name of Philomena, was alerting the sisters to as the aforementioned phoenix was staring straight at the bush.
"Hello?" Celestia asked, hoping the creature understood her.
The creature, obviously not fully a pony, but with a head similar to one, looked straight a her, a look of worry upon his face.
"Art though alright?" Celestia asked "We do not mean any harm"
The creature moved out of the bush slightly, revealing a longer body than Celestia had expected, along with a lion's paw, a bird's claw and many other animal features. "You can call me Discord" the creature said "Have you seen my parents?"
"No we have not, Discord. If thou wishes, thou could come with us, and we might find them" Celestiasaid
"Who is that, Tia?" Luna's voice asked from behind Celestia.
"This is Discord" Celestia said.
"Discord? As in chaos?" Luna questioned.
"It is just a name, sister" Celestia said.
"We think we remember seeing a drawing like Discord in one of the books" Luna said, looking up at the sky in thought. "Oh, we remember now! He is a Draconeqwss... Draconquss... Draconequss?"
Celestia raised an eyebrow "He does look like his species would be hard to pronounce" she said.
Discord looked back at them. "I am a draconequus" he said proudly.
Philomena squaked, trying to attract the three's attention.
"Oh, right" Celestia said "Let us continue"
After about three-quarters of an hour, as the moon was slowly rising, some light could be seen in the distance. Celestia picked up on this. "Tere is probably a village over here!" she decclared happily.
"I don't think I should go with you too much more" Discord said.
"Dost thou not like crowds?" Luna asked.
Discord nodded and glanced around. Seeing a mountain quite closeby, the Draconequus thought for a moment. "I'll be in the cave over there" he said, walking towards the mountain.
"Let us go!" Celestia said, running forwards towards the small village not too far away, Luna following close behind her and Philomena flying overhead.
In the 'small village', which turned out to be quite a moderately sized town further away than they originally thought, a brown earth pony guard called out, saying that there were a couple small ponies, probably fillies, approaching the town, which caused a few other guards to head out towards these fillies in the distance.
"Hello?" A voice called out, catching the two fillies and Philomena by surprise.
The phoenix flew upwards and looked at the approaching ponies.
"Hello!" Celestia replied.
A group of earth pony stallions came into view.
"Are you alright?" the one who called out earlier asked.
"Yes, we are quite alright" Celestia said.
"Wait! You are alicorns! They survived!" The stallion said "This is great news! Where are the others?"
"We do not know" Luna said.
"Oh..." The stallion said "What are your names?"
"We are Luna, and this is my sister Celestia" Luna said.
The stallion nodded. "Come with us".
Back in the town, a group of ponies watched as the guards entered again.
"Everypony! Welcome Celestia and Luna! Two of the last living alicorns!" Another guard than the one from earlier said.
A roar of applause erupted from the crowd. Celestia ttempted to stand tall, but tripped slightly, landing on the floor. In reply to this, Luna laughed slightly and helped her sister up.
"Is there a family here who can look after them?" One of the guards asked to the members of the crowd.
"They could stay with my family. We have plenty of food" A pale pink earth pony mare said.
"The library would be happy to give them education" A light gray unicorn said.
"It is settled then" The guard said "Celestia and Luna are to stay with Pink Lady, and are to be taught under Cosmic Light until we can find either other alicorns, or a permanent residence."
Celestia had a small tear drip down from her eye as she remembered that town which had brought Luna and herself in.
