She gulped nervously. "Honey!" A white unicorn with a purple and greying mane called her over, "You almost forgot your saddlebag!" The younger pony rolled her eyes and went over to what seemed to be her mother. "Thaaaanks." She said, snatching the bag. She placed it on her back and set on her way. She could hear her mum from the distance yelling someting about a kiss but no way was she going to embarrass herself this time! She started to gallop towards the closing gates, just making it. She started to calm down, but then the buzzer sounded. She face hoofed realising there was no time to hang around. She HAD to get to registration before the second bell. She ran through the narrow hallways, crashing into angry ponies along the way; not the best first impression. She looked at her information sheet, scanning for the room number. Meanwhile, tutor was starting and the unicorn STILL wasn't there. "I am Miss Harshwinny and I shall be your new form tutor this academic year. I am going to read the register and you must answer LOUD and CLEAR." The teacher explained. She put on her glasses and cleared her throat. "Whooves?" "Here." "Dash?" "Here." "Doo?" "Hello! "Yes. Sparkle? … SPARKLE?!" Miss. Harshwinny requested. She scowled and was about to cross of the name, when a flustered pony burst through the door. "H-h- here." She answered. "Twilight Sparkle this is NOT an appropriate or professional first impression; I will have to assign you a sanction, now sit." Miss. Harshwinny scolded. Twilight sighed and sat next to a country filly with white freckles. The mare turned her head and smiled sweetly at the unicorn. "Howdy Twi! I'm AppleJack." She whispered, holding out her hoof. Twilight reluctantly shook the orange hoof, then grinned awkwardly. "Hope you fit in okay, but if not, ah'll be right here for ya!" Applejack offered, facing the front of the class. Twilight liked this ground pony; she liked her a lot. "Hey Sparkle-pants; nice first impression!" A posh voice sneered. Twilight's ears twitched with confusion. Applejack snorted in frustration and tensed. "What's wrong, Apple-PIG! Miss your mud?" The same voice shot back. Who was that? //-------------------------------------------------------// A 'rare' enemy //-------------------------------------------------------// A 'rare' enemy "Rarity?" Miss Harshwhinny called. "Here miss; and I'm sure you won't find me a problem unlike SOME ponies." The white unicorn sneered, flipping her amethyst curls. She glared at Twilight, making the lavender unicorn feel uncomfortable. Rarity faced the front of the class with a smirk on her face. What's wrong with her? Twilight asked inside her head. AppleJack tapped her hoof against the desk in frustration; she was tired of Rarity acting like she was top dog. Twilight stared at the quill and parchment lying in front of her with discontent. She thought she would make some friends and be spared of the bullying. She looked to her side to see the country mare with a blonde mane pulled back into a ponytail, tied with a scarlet red ribbon. Huh, Twilight thought to herself.A red ribbon means she kicks, right? Twilight shrugged and smiled with a reassuring feeling. She was glad she had made at least ONE friend. AppleJack raised her ears and looked at Twilight. The feeling was mutual and the freckled earth pony smiled back. A ruler suddenly smashed down on AppleJack's desk with a CRACK. Applejack looked up slowly to find an irritated Miss Harshwhinny. "Miss Jack, you are here to LEARN not to communicate with fellow classponies!" She screamed. The bell rang and the snooty teacher trotted over to the blackboard. "Now foals; we shall start with arithmetic!" She announced, emphasising the r in 'arithmetic'. Everypony groaned, except Rarity of course who was just sooooo perfect. Twilight focused on the white unicorn, almost gagging in disgust. She noticed things about the pony sitting across the room that she didn't notice before, like glittery, aqua blue eye shadow and matching globe earrings. Twilight hated Rarity's perfect mane and her prissy face... god she was jealous.
