Introduction
Disgust. The once magical land of Equestria had been ravaged, torn apart. The fields were littered with the bodies of the fallen, the apple orchards coated in the blood of the ponies that had once worked there. After the horses of Saddle Arabia had teamed up with a race known as the Reptavians and assassinated the monarch, Princess Celestia, the land had fallen into a war. The magical beings thought they had the upper hand but the Reptavians speed and Battle plan far succeeded the ponies. The once beautiful land of Equestria had fallen into a state of war. The unicorns’ technological know-how and the Earth ponies’ skill at building versus the Reptivians agility and smarts had completely demolished this once magical landscape.
This is where we meet a small Filly name Soulful Strings, a unicorn that was brought up in this broken land, she was trained in the arts of fighting but showed particular interest in the dark arts, and this was usually frowned upon due to the reign of king Sombra. Soulful’s father was a commander on the front lines and her mother was lost in the Manehatten bombing. Soulful didn’t know much about her mother all that remained was a ruined photograph and a necklace with a ti-ti on it. Soulful wore the necklace at all times. Nopony knew but Soulful hated the war she has tried to skip her classes but was caught everytime. Soulful lived a peaceful life until one day, that all changed…

Chapter 1: The beginning
Soulful Strings was a normal filly who lived in a broken world. After Equestria fell into its darkest ages, it became mandatory for all unicorns to attend a military school to learn one of the three types of spells, offensive, defensive or medical. Soulful Strings didn't care for the war in fact she was disgusted by it, she just wanted it to all end! But if she was studying it wouldn't be offensive, defensive or medical it would be a forbidden art, the art of re-animation, Necromancy. Of course, being a filly, Soulful didn't have much of an opportunity to get access to dead ponies and last time she did get her hooves on one, it didn't end that well, let’s just call it a very short zompony outbreak!
One day Soulful was home alone waiting for her father to get back from work, she didn't see her father much but when she did they played all sorts of games, oh she just loved it when her father was home! A knock was heard at the door, Soulful ran to the door and excitedly slammed the door open. “HI D- ad…” A tall Brown Stallion stood at the door wearing golden armour; he took off his helmet and put it next to his flank “Miss Strings?” The stallion questioned in a deep voice, Soulful nodded. “I’m afraid your father is… Dead” Soulfuls heart shattered “D-dead?” The stallion nodded. Heavy tear drops hit the floor and the stallion opened his mouth but was interrupted by Soulful running past him, levitating a saddle bag behind her “MISS STRINGS!” The stallion shouted but Soulful couldn't hear him, his voice was drowned out. The grey unicorn ran for miles, not knowing where she was going, but continued to run.
Eventually stopping due to exhaustion, Soulful slowly trotted near the edge of a polluted river. ‘Why dad, how?’ pondering, Soulful didn't notice where she was going and paid for her intolerance. Soulful quickly jumped out of the way and an explosion appeared where she was just standing ‘Earth pony mines, heh, too easy’ on edge Soulful slowly paced through the minefield, accidently setting off a few. On the other side Soulful felt a strong magical presence and ducked when magical arrows shot passed her mane. Soulfuls horn started glowing with a grey aura and the arrows stopped firing “Nullification spell, easy!” Soulful said proudly before realising she said it aloud. Soulful suddenly remembered what the Stallion had said and carried on walking with her head looking at the scarred ground. Suddenly Soulful stopped walking, she had just bumped into somepony “Oh, I’m s-“ Soulful was looking at an orange coat, no, they were feathers! Looking up Soulful found herself face to face with a Phoevern.
