After hearing about King Sombra's reign of terror upon the citizens of the Crystal Empire and his crimes against the royal family, Celestia and Luna goes to bring a stop to him only for their doings to be for naught. With nothing left but the stain of defeat and an injured Luna, they head back home to their castle in Canterlot only to come across a small foal and it's mother lying in the snow. Seeing as the mother no longer breathes life and worried for the foal, they take it in. Despite not knowing of it's nature or kind, pony may be a beacon of hope between the relations of pony kind and the most unlikeliest of foes.
