Chapter 1

The lone man in the harsh, unforgiving blizzard treaded on through the fresh snow, hoping to get away from the horrors he had saw mere hours ago. With him were two bundles, something he could not easily let go of. It was all he had left of his family.

But he needed to, for everyone’s sake. He was not going to wander in the frozen wasteland for no purpose. He had a place to go to.

He finally arrived at the outskirts of a village, miles and miles away from where he originally came from. The ones who were hunting him never came here for a good reason; the people protecting the town could easily take them out.

And it worried him a little bit. If his attacker managed to obtain enough power, he would not hesitate to track him down and slaughter his remaining pieces to his heart.

His daughters. Born days before the horrendous attack that killed his wife and her family, not to mention countless innocents.

Their murder would not be in vain. He knew very well who did this. And he would, eventually, take him down.

Another figure came racing to the man, a wizened woman around her sixties or seventies. Her face was distraught when she saw the lone man come up. His face was bloody, his body wounded from the miniature war from the other village.

“God forbid, Stryder, what happened?” the woman rushed to his side. “I saw the flames coming from up north. What is going on?”

Stryder looked up at the woman, a forlorn yet furious expression on his face.

“My brother,” he finally spoke. “He killed them. He killed them all.”

He handed her his daughters, wrapped in blankets to keep them from freezing. “Keep them safe. Please. They are the last of their bloodline…I can’t afford to lose my daughters.”

The woman awed at the two infants in front of her. On their foreheads were green emerald-like stones.

“The last of the Metherlance,” The woman murmured as Stryder limped away. “What have you got yourself into, Stryder?”

Scootaloo tussled her violet mane as she walked through Ponyville’s town square. Nightmare Night was here, and everypony was either eating candy, listening to Princess Luna tell stories of the past, or bobbing for apples, of which Derpy Hooves was and still is the champion.

Well, almost everypony.

Scootaloo kept her distance from others, trotting along in her hoodie, trying not to be seen. It would only make the current situation worse.

“Blank flank, blank flank!”

Voices crawled through her head as she tried to forget them. She hasn’t gone to school in two weeks after what Diamond Tiara did to her. Having the school’s hoofball team nearly beating her to a bloody pulp wasn’t the worst part, it was the fact that everypony laughed at the sight of it, and walked away, leaving her alone.

“That bitch,” Scootaloo growled under her breath. Of course she was able to get away with it, after all, her father was a member of the school board. She never got in trouble anyway, mostly to Filthy Rich’s influence.

She barely came out of her room since then, only to eat and use the bathroom. Rainbow Dash, who adopted her after the Tirek incident, gave up trying to make her come out only a few days ago.

The fact that her so called friends, her reason to stay afloat, turned their back on her, finalized the blow.  Not that it mattered, as she was drifting away from Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle after they got their cutie marks.

The only reason she was here tonight was Rumble. Despite being the brother of Thunderlane, Ponyville’s loudmouthed, suave weather team member, Rumble was the complete opposite of his older sibling. He never had any interest in sports, he was more quiet, and wasn’t really that social aside from talking to Button Mash, Pipsqueak, and Featherweight.

Unfortunately, this earned him the scorn of Diamond Tiara after he helped Scootaloo up after her beating. Now both pegasi were outcasts.

“Hey Scoots,” Rumble said, a nervous smile on his face. The two ponies were nearby the town square fountain. “You ok?”

Scootaloo sighed. “No. You know I can’t let go of a grudge that easily.”

“Guess we both hate the same pony that much, eh?” Rumble laughed uneasily.

Scootaloo raised an eyebrow. “What beef do you have toward Diamond?”

“She sends the hoofball team over to prank me,” Rumble said, his smile turning into a frown. “It’s been going on for a while. That’s why I couldn’t let you suffer like that.”

“You really would do something like that for me?” Scootaloo said with a puzzled look on her face. It quickly subsided into a small smile. “I usually would blow something like that off, but…I’m actually kind of touched.”

Rumble smirked. “So you do have a heart. Bravo.”

“Shut up,” Scootaloo said playfully hit him on the shoulder. Rumble quickly came in for a hug, much to Scootaloo’s surprise.  It was relatively brief, only a couple seconds, but Scootaloo felt something with it. Warmth. Affection. Hope.

KER-ISH!!!!

A blast of wind swept the area as a green light appeared out of nowhere. The blinding aura swept the area like a tornado, falling apart as quickly as it came. Left behind were five strange figures, sprawled against the ground.

Ponies around the area looked at the bizarre creatures, all earing some form of clothing. One of them had a peculiar looking hat, another had more revealing clothes, and besides her was one who had blonde hair, tied up in a ponytail. The two other figures were still as strange, one with beige hair and a red jacket, the other with blue-violet hair and a black dress with boots.

The beige hair figure woke up first. He groaned, and sat up…

Bumping into the face of Princess Twilight Sparkle.

“GAH!!!” the creature jumped up, rapidly gazing at his surroundings. “What the? Who the? What the heck are you things?”

“Ah, Goddamn it,” the figure with the hat hazily stood up. After looking at where she was, she did the only logical action possible. Freak out.

“ROWAN! KUEA! WAKE UP! WHERE ARE WE? THERE’S HORSES EVERYWHERE! OH GOD, THEY’RE STARTING AT US! SHOO! SHOO!”

Twilight just stood watching the two creatures freak out. She encountered humans before (That of course, is another story), but the two in question looked much different than the world she visited. Who were they?

She decided to try and calm them down. “STOP IT!!!”

Using her newly acquired “Royal Canterlot Voice” only made them faint onto the ground. All in all, not much progress.

The two humans that the figure with the hat yelled at woke up. The blonde-hair male immediately dashed over to the one with the hat, while the more suggestive looking female went over to the beige-hair boy and the girl with the black dress.

“Cisqua, are you okay?” he said to her, helping her up.

“I would be, if I wasn’t knocked down by a talking horse!” Cisqua looked right at Twilight. “What the hell are you?”

“I am a pony, not an horse,” Twilight replied blankly, use to dealing with insane situations like this. "Now tell me, where exactly did you come from?”

“Uh, Guardia?” Cisqua replied, puzzled. “Why do you ask?”

“So you’re not from Earth…strange,” Twilight muttered.

Princess Luna, after noticing the commotion, quickly ran up to the five humans. “Guardia? You mean…oh no.”

“Oh no what?” the beige-hair boy said as he was helping the girl with the black dress up.

Luna gulped. “He’s found us.”

“Wait, who found us?” Twilight asked. Concern swept her face. Why did the princesses not tell her this?

“You mean that weird looking thing coming toward us?” a pink pony with a unexplainably poof mane pointed her hoof to one of the supposedly empty streets.

A lone figure, clad in white armor, strode forward. A mask, going down from his nose to his chin, kept his identity hidden.  Clenching his fist, a green light began to appear, with a wicked looking blade materializing.

Luna turned to two of the night guards. “Get to Princess Celestia immediately.” The two guards nodded and flew off toward Canterlot.

The armored figure looked at the guards flying away. He could shoot them down, but he had other things to do besides buy some time.

He finally stood still, for all ponies to see.  Positioning his blade to the cobblestone path of the square, he bellowed: “Citizens of Ponyville.” His voice was menacing, grinding with distortion and malice. “You have something I want…”

His blade rose up to point right at Scootaloo. “…and I need it back.”
