Ponyville, a nice town even by equestrian standards, home to many ponies, including the elements of harmony, but not all in the town is sunshine, rainbows, and happiness. There is a darker side of the town, one that goes unnoticed by most normal ponies, one created from a dark past, it is usually dismissed as nothing but a old Mare's Tale. There is the small side of the town that is vampiric, hidden among common ponies, they perfectly blend in.

Twilight Sparkle, the element of magic recognizes a new pegasus in town named Toxicity, and he is the pony that has haunted her nightmares, and ripped apart her dreams. She now faces a threat, bigger than any she has faced in the past, something she thought was a simple myth, has now charged forward and struck her stronger than a manticore. What will happen to the elements of harmony, and how will their lives change with this realization?
