Load Full StoryNext Chapter"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" Starlight laser screamed as he fell to the ground. It was almost as if someone was pulled him out of his window as he was looking out at the strange pony in dark robes under the light post near his house. WELL THIS IS FUCKING BRILLIANT he thought as he fell on to the ground.
"Thank Celestia i didn't break anything,"
Starlight look up at his window and then to where the figure had been but it had disappeared. Starlight thought about going to the lamp post and investigating it. In fact this feeling was so strong it was almost as if he wasn't himself. Ultimately he decided to go and see what he could find. As he approached the lamp post he realized that the cloak from the figure from early was still there but the body that held it up was no where to be seen. At that point Starlight herd something behind and turned his head to see what it was.
Starlight's mouth gaped open as he saw a pony that seemed to be made of entirely light except for its eyes which where a black so dark they seemed to contain all of space and time inside them. He's was so astonished by this strange figure in front of him he almost missed what it said
"Starlight you are the key." The figure seemed to speak without moving its mouth or any sign of telekinesis magic.
"Wha-- Wait what does that mean?" Starlight barely managed to get out
"When the time comes you shall know of what that is which I mean. But only for now you shall only need two things. The first is to beware the number 77. The second, once the evens begin to unfold you shall need that cloak," The light being indicated the cloak that was in Starlight's hooves.
"Wait!!" Starlight yelled as the being began to fade away, "Will we meet again?"
"Yes Mister Laser, but i shall not be in this form and i shall know you but you will not know me," and with that the figure disappeared, leaving Starlight with those riddles and the strange cloak. Starlight lived the next two years of his life weaving conspiracies, spending so many sleepless nights going over the trivial advice given to him, and days researching accounts like his through out all of history and literature. Finding the meaning to all of this had become his life obsession. Until the day he had found the meaning.
*********** *************
"Hey Star!" A voice called out to Starlight. He looked around until he found the source. A single hoof waving above the crowd seeming to move towards him. He hadn't recognized the voice but something about it kept nagging at him almost as if he had heard it before. he brushed it off and trotted to the waving hoof. This is weird i haven't spoken to anyone in years how could someone possibly know me.
"Thank Luna i found you. You have no clue how hard it is to find you. But this place is too public, do you know any where we can talk in private. And before you ask yes i know you but you don't know me,"
"Umm......," Starlight babbled, "My house should be private enough,"
"No they will definitely have that taped and bugged, any where else?"
"Aisle 78 in the library,"
"Why 78? And why in the library?"
"It's hard to explain,"
"Well.. Okay then,"
Starlight lead the mare to the aisle that he spent most of the last two years reading old cataloged mythology and paranormal accounts. Everything about the mare seemed odd as he continued to down the aisles. As they got closer to the the last aisle in the library Starlight began to count the seconds, ever science the encounter with the strange encounter with the glowing figure that's all he ever seemed to do. When he counted, the closer he got to the number 77 he held his breath almost as if he where expecting something to happen, but he was never sure of what.
"What in the name of Celestia are you doing?" The mare asked while she looked at him strangely? Starlight looked at her as he hit 77 and realized he had puffed out his checks as he started holding his breath.
"Hmm... Oh sorry didn't realize that i did that," He replied looking forward and hope she didn't press the matter further.
"Not what I asked," she said a little more hostile this time.
"Just holding my breath nothing special about it. This is another thing that would be hard to explain,"
"NO, TELL ME WHAT THE FUCK YOU WERE JUST DOING!" said a completely different voice. This was not a mares voice, it was more of what Starlight imagined the voice of the demons of the old mythology to be like. Starlight thought how best to approach this situation. If this girl really was a demon like in the legends and stories, then anything he could say could set her into her true form. Starlight however did remember that there was something that he could have said that could kill her, but did not remember what it was. He also remembered that there was a way to tell weather the demon was taking on a host or a disguise of its own choice.
"77," Starlight simply said.
"WHAT THE HELL DOES 77 MEAN?!" the raspy voice said
"Seventy-fucking-seven, any other stupid or redundant questions," Starlight said as a mirror passed on his left side. He managed to catch a glimpse at only his reflection in it. Well this complicates things. Starlight thought to himself.
"FINE I'LL JUST GET IT OUT OF YOU LATER,"
"Well that was your question I believe it's my turn. So what does a DEMON, like yourself want with me,"
"HOW DID YOU-- WHY YOU LITTLE SHIT,"
"Ah Ahh, Temper temper. We don't want you changing here in public. Now explain what in the hell it is that you want with me," Starlight said with a slight smirk that he now had more than one advantage over the demon
"I'LL EXPLAIN IT WHEN WE GET TO THE AISLE,"
"What you mean aisle 77, yeah that doesn't exist I made it up," Starlight's smirk grew to a grin as he looked over to the demon science he met her. He had showed his first cards to show how bad the demon fell for his first bluff.
"WHY YOU LITTLE-- WELL NOW THERE'S NO HELPING YOU NOW! I'M GONNA FUCKING KILL YOU!" The demon started to change it's form with an explosion that knocked Starlight back into a shelf of books.
"Oh shit," Starlight said as he got up and shook his head. "Shouldn't have done that,"
There was a loud, blood-curdling roar. Starlight looked to see where the demon was when the explosion, and there stood a giant pony figure that was dark as night with eyes as bright as the sun.
"Oh shit," Starlight said as the reality of is decision hit him like a truck. There was a second explosion and Starlight blacked out.
