Chapters The final school bell rang with an accompanied gleeful cheer from the foals at Ponyville's schoolhouse. All the fillies and colts were excited for the upcoming Spring Break. A week of no school, no homework, and no teachers.
"All right my little ponies. Have a good Spring Break. I'll see all of you next Monday." Their teacher Cheerilee called out
The group of students galloped with excitement out to the door as the afternoon sun welcome them in it's warm glow. Three of those foals, Apple Bloom, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle AKA The Cutie Mark Crusaders were in the mist of the group as they trotted happily along with their peers.
"I can't believe you're going to be in Manehattan for a whole week" said an excited AppleBloom
"Yeah I would just be happy with a day there, but a week? We're really going to miss you Sweetie." Scootaloo expressed
"Well it's not like I'm moving there" Sweetie said "Rarity and I are just going there for the week while she plans for some important fashion event next month. She and some stallion named Hoity Toity will plan for an hour or so then Rarity and I will go sightseeing. But boy I can't wait. I wish you girls can come."
"Sorry Sweetie, but the Apple Family Reunion is going to be in Appleloosa this year, so we have to go." Apple Bloom said
"And my parents want me to spend the vacation making up the work I didn't complete because I was out practicing on my scooter. If I don't get some more As in my next report card, my flying lessons with Rainbow are out." Scootaloo said
"Well I don't leave for Manehattan til tomorrow. Who wants to get a milkshake? My Treat." The unicorn asked
I do! I do!" The Pegasus and earth pony shouted excitedly
"Alright. Last one to Sugarcube Corner, is a rotten egg." Sweetie said as the three fillies ran happily to Sugar cube Corner.
Meanwhile two more fillies, Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon who rule the school with iron hooves were the last to come out as they dreaded the vacation ahead.
"Aww I just so wish I can come to Manhattan with you. " Diamond Tiara complained "But my dad's marefriend says we should spend more time together as a family. Stupid Amber Joy."
"Ugh I know right. Manehattan will be such a bore without you." Silver Spoon replied
"What sort of torturing mechanism does she have up her sleeve this time?"
"Probably the most horrible trip in my life."
"Oh no you don't mean"
Diamond gulped "Yes CAMPING!"
Both fillies shuddered
"An entire week hiking to Rainbow Falls with no servants, no indoor plumbing, and absolutely no cellphone reception. I swear that Mare is trying to ruin my life. I mean what did I do to deserve this treatment?!"
"Maybe if you didn't make fun of all those without cutie marks, maybe karma wouldn't be so mean." Silver thought but up front she said: "I have no idea."
Diamond looked with her head down.
"Well we're both not leaving til first thing tomorrow, why don't we head back to your house and watch that tall glass of water Leonardo De Canterpreo in Trottanic ?"
"Now you're talking sister. But I get to hold the remote." Diamond said now happy
"You're the boss." Silver resigned
The next morning, both Belle sisters were at the train station about to board on the business class section of the train. They had to get very early and got very sleep.
"Oh I do wish Hoity didn't have to be Manehattan. The three hour time difference is so horrible." Rarity complained
"That's ok Rarity." Sweetie yawned "I'm ok with getting up early. Especially with traveling. Don't worry I'll be quiet while you sleep."
"Thanks Sweetie." Rarity hugged her sister
A little further away, Silver was saying goodbye to her parents Golden and Platinum Spoon. The two despite being very busy, always made sure to have time for their daughter.
"Ok Silvy. Now do you have all your luggage." the purple eyed, yellow coated, gold maned earth mare asked
"Yes mom." Silver replied
"And uncle Hoity will be wearing a brown coat at the train station to come pick you up." The ,blue eyed,gray coated, white maned stallion informed his daughter
"Yes dad. You and mom have told 20 times." Silver replied
"Oh I can't believe our daughter's taking her fist trip without us. Just seems like yesterday, I was bringing you home from the hospital." Golden sobbed
"I'll be fine guys don't worry. I'm mature enough to handle stuff"
"Well you may be a mature young filly, but you're not too old to give your old man a kiss."
"Of course." Silver replied giving Platinum a kiss on the cheek
Suddenly the conductor came up and shouted: "All Aboard. The train to Manehattan leaves in five minutes. All Aboard!"
"You better go. We'll see you in a week. We love you." Golden said as her daughter went on the train
"Love you too." Silver called and waved from her seat as the train rode off until the station faded into the background.
Silver resigned to her seat. The truth was, she was frightened about her situation but she had to be brave. This was her opportunity to be independent. No parents, no Diamond telling her what to do, and plenty of time with her favorite uncle. Nothing was going to ruin her trip.
"What would like to drink hun?" A waitress came up and asked
"Strawberries crepes with Earl Grey tea please." Silver Spoon replied thinking of the most mature meal she can think of.
A little while later, Rarity and Sweetie Belle had arrived in Manehattan, checked into their hotel, and were on their way to Hoity's studio.
"Now remember Sweetie, Hoity and I will only be planning for an hour or two hours a day. Then the rest of the day is just for you and me." Rarity said "You got things to keep you busy during that time?"
"Sure Rarity." Sweetie replied "Books, crayons, dolls, DVDs. All the things needed for entertaining a young filly."
"Good. Oh look we're already here." Rarity as the two stand outside of a white loft building that was three stories high. The unicorn mare pushed the button on the side. "Hoity darling, we're here."
A voice came from the intercom. "Come right up."
The two unicorns went inside the loft then went up the elevator until they reached the top and went into a room where they were meat by Hoity Toity himself.
"Hoity, so glad to see you." Rarity said coming to the stallion
"Rarity my favorite designer. It's been so long since I've seen you in Manehattan Fashion Week.How have you been?" Hoity said as the two gave each other a kiss on both cheeks
"Oh just the same old life. Saving Equestria from danger while making fabulous fashions. Just making a living. " Rarity replied
"And you must be Rarity's sister Sweetie Belle." Hoity said noticing Sweetie by Rarity's leg "Pleasure to meet you. My you look a lot like your sister. Luckily I have a niece with me so you'll be in good company."
Hoity then brought out a gray filly with powder white mane, purple eyes and a silver spoon cutie mark. Both fillies set eyes on each other and were shocked and said,
"Oh come on!"
Author's Note
First chapter. I know it's risky doing a story so close to Season 5, but I have Spring Break this week and I just have put this off for so long, I thought now would be good time. I'll explain more on why Diamond and Silver act like they do later in the story.
"Sweetie, that's not a nice thing to say. Doesn't she go to school with you?" Rarity asked
"Yes and she's one of the mean fillies who bully Apple Bloom, Scootaloo and I for our lack of cutie marks."
"Well it's not my fault you have no talent or destiny." Silver fought back
"Now Silver, Sweetie's the little sister to my most favorite designer. And I would appreciate if you would treat her the same way you want to be treated." Hoity scolded Silver "Now both of you,apologize"
Both girls muttered: I'm sorry
"Ok then, why don't you both go into the other room while Hoity and I get to work." Rarity said
The girls then took their stuff and went to the lounging area, while Rarity and Hoity sat down on the coffee table.
"Girls these days. Am I right?"
"At least you have a niece. I'm stuck with a sister."
Both of them chuckled.
The lounging area was a luxurious living room. It had a flat screen TV, a white buttery leather sofa with an extension, walls surrounded with black and white pictures of models from the past along with random artwork, a translucent coffee table. Sweetie was impressed, but Silver went right to the point. She took some blue tape and dragged a line between the room.
"Alright Belle. Let's get one thing straight. I have my side of the room." Silver pointed to the side with the TV and couch extension. "And you have your side." Silver pointed to side with the rest of the couch and the artwork.
"What?! Why do you get the better side?" Sweetie said outraged
"Because I'm here because of my uncle and you're here only because of your sister. Now get to your side." Silver said as the two quickly went to their sides.
An hour later both fillies were on their sides coloring. Neither of them talked until Silver looked in her crayon box and found that she unfortunately didn't have robin egg blue.
"Oh dang it." Silver muttered to herself "Maybe that unicorn has some robin egg blue."
Silver signed and made her way over to Sweetie who was concentrating on coloring in the lines.
"Hey Sweetie can I borrow your robin egg blue?"
Sweetie was shocked and confused of this question but she gave the crayon to Silver anyway.
"Thanks." Silver started to walk away but stopped when she saw Sweetie's picture
"Wow that picture's really detailed."
"Oh thanks. Rarity really pushed me on detail when I was younger. Guess she expected me to be just like her. I can just imagine how disappointed she must've been when I splashed into my first mud puddle." Sweetie giggled at the memory
"Hmm the fillies in it look familiar. Are they from some book series?" Silver asked
"Nah, It's Apple Bloom, Scootaloo, and I having a picnic at Sweet Apple Acres. You see I like to draw my happiest memories so I can recall them just by looking at the picture." Sweetie explained
"Wow that's clever of you. Maybe art will turn out to be your talent."
"Thanks but I don't think so. I like to draw and stuff , but I don't want to do it for a living. Although Rarity's talent is her ability to find gems but she does fashion for a living so maybe."
Suddenly Silver felt her stomach growling
"Hey do you have any food I can eat?" Silver asked
"Sure. I think I got some fruit, granola bars, and juice boxes if they'll be ok."
"Thanks. I'm kind of surprise you would share with me after how Diamond and I have treated you and your friends. I feel sorry about doing that."
Sweetie shrugged "Well Rarity has also taught to be generous no matter who the pony is. Come on lets seat by the coffee table while we eat."Silver happily followed
"Sweetie come on now." Rarity called after another half an hour passed
Sweetie and Silver were finishing up eating when Rarity came in.
"Aww but we were having fun." Sweetie whined
"Don't worry you two will have plenty of time to hang out on Monday. Hoity and I decided not to do tomorrow because he has Sunday brunch with Fleur De Lis. Now say goodbye to Silver and let's get going. I don't want to be stuck in Times Square with all those tacky tourists. One day I'll be in control and get rid of tack tourist style once and for all." Rarity laughed slightly manically as she left the lounging area
"Is she like this all the time?" Silver whispered
"Always." Sweetie whispered back

The explanations will come in the next part. Rarity really hates tacky tourist clothes. Just wanted to give a little comic relief
On Monday, Rarity and Sweetie returned to Hoity's studio where they let themselves in since Hoity was expected them.
"Good morning darlings." Hoity greeted the unicorns
"Morning Hoity. Have the swatches for the decor arrived yet?" Rarity asked
"Not yet. They said it'll come on Thursday. You're not leaving until Saturday right?"
"Of course. Come on Saturday, leave Saturday."
Silver then walked then and noticed Sweetie then motioned her to come to the lounging area.
"Oh hey Sweetie. Good morning. How was your day?"
"Oh fine. Rarity took me to the Museum of Modern Art which was mostly boring going through all those rooms. What about you? Did you go to that brunch with Fleur De Lis?"
"Yes but that was so boring. Uncle Hoity and Ms. Fleur kept recalling stories and made jokes I didn't get. Diamond would've loved it though but mean I prefer to go traveling."
Sweetie giggled "I would've loved to have done that too. There's an entire world just waiting to be discovered."
"I know right? We have to go traveling sometime when we're older."
"Where do you want to travel? Chicacolt, Mareami?"
"Mareid."
Sweetie gasped "Get out. That's where I want to go."
"Well that's where we're going." Silver said as the two bumped hooves.
Later, after a game of Scrabble, Sweetie asked Silver:
"So Silver I have to ask. You seem like such a nice filly. Why are you so mean to me, Apple Bloom, and Scootaloo?"
"It's a long story. You see I'm very socially awkward. I couldn't make a friend on my own to save my own life. The foals thought that since I came from a wealthy family and I never came up to them I was either shy or arrogant. Things got worse when I got my glasses when I was 3. I felt small, isolated, and unattractive. And Diamond's dad is friends with my parents so the forced us to play together. Diamond decided to take me under her wing and teach me how to survive in school. I just follow her example." Silver said "But Diamond's reason for her behavior is much more complicated."
"Really? I always thought she was mean just because she was a spoiled daddy's girl."
"Well that's part of it. But there's more to it."
"Please tell me! I must know."
"I don't know, If Diamond finds out that I've told you, she'll get really mad."
"Well she's not here just you and me. What happens in this room stays in this room."
Silver signed and took a deep breath "Ok here goes. Do you know that Diamond's mother is actually Suri Polomare?"
"Really? That back stabbing, double crossing designer who betrayed Rarity at Fashion Week? No."
"Yep. She meet Filthy Rich when they bumped into each other and she dropped her stuff in Manehattan on her way to the train station. They meet for coffee the next week, one thing lead to another and one year later, they were married. But when Diamond was born, Filthy thought that Suri would be a stay at home mom and have more babies. Let's just say Suri was not happy about the change of plans. She didn't talk to She left when Diamond was only 3 months old.Filthy was so heartbroken and regretful that he buried himself in his work while Diamond was raised by maids, butlers, and servants. "
"Wow I never thought of it like that. How does Diamond know about this if Suri left when she was a baby?"
"Simple, one of servants explained to her when she was five. Just gave her the ugly truth right there and then. Then she told me when we were younger. Of course the two still write, but she hopes one day that Suri will come back and they can be a family again. Which is one of the reason why she hates Amber Joy."
"Whose Amber Joy?"
"You know, that gold earth mare with the blond mane, blue eyes, and The quill wring in a book cutie mark?"
"You mean that mare who sometimes picks up Diamond and says that she's her 'new nanny'?"
"Yeah that's the one. Well she's actually Diamond"s dad's marefriend.
"Wow. How long have they been dating?"
"Well they meet during the time of the Royal Wedding. And their first date was the Ponyville Festival , so for a little while I guess."
"But why does Diamond hate her?"
"Well for one thing if Filthy marries Amber, it means that Diamond's wish for him and Suri to get back together will never come true. And another, Amber often makes Diamond do stuff like chores, go to sleep at 9:00, have an allowance, and the three of them are on a camping trip to Rainbow Falls as we speak."
"That doesn't seem too bad."
"Honey if you knew Diamond like I did, you would know in her mind it's worse than a pop quiz on a Monday."
Sweetie shuddered at the thought
After telling the story, Silver signed looking relived that she took that off her chest. "Well now that I have told you this you MUST promise me you won't tell nopony else especially not Apple Bloom and Scootaloo."
"I'll do better than that. I'll Pinkie Promise."
"What's a Pinkie Promise?" Silver asked
"It goes something like: Cross my heart out and hope to fly. Stick a cupcake in my eye." Sweetie chanted while doing the physical movements "And breaking a Pinkie Promise is the one thing that will ruin a friendship."
Suddenly Pinkie popped up and shouted: "Forever!" then waved to Sweetie and popped back out leaving Silver confused and speechless.
"That's just Pinkie. She doesn't believe in logic." Sweetie explained leaving Silver confused and speechless
After regaining her sense of logic Silver asked: "Wait? We're friends?"
"Of course."
"Wow. I never had a true friend before."
""Well that's all changed now." Sweetie putting her hoof around Silver
"Hey I got the latest Sapphire Shores CD. Want to listen?" Silver suggested
"I'd love to. Y'know I've actually met her?"
"You have? But how?" Silver asked as the two made their way over to the CD
"Oh that's a long story."

And here are the explanations. I like to think of Suri as Diamond's mother because they both have the same coat color, they're both ambitious on getting what we want, and simply because I can. And I just had to do that little Pinkie cameo. Yay continuity (I've been watching a hella lot of SilverQuill).
On Friday, the last full day for Sweetie and Silver's trip, Hoity and Rarity came up to the girls.
"Oh girls, Hoity and I need to go to Fifth Avenue to get our outfits in advance for The Gala. Would you care to join us?"
Both Sweetie and Silver's faces lighted up with delight and they nodded violently.
"Good. We're leaving in five minutes so I suggest you get your stuff now." Then Rarity and Hoity left
"Shopping on Fifth Avenue?" Silver asked "Oh that's a dream come true."
"I don't have anything good to wear, but I don't care cause we're going shopping." Sweetie squealed in delight
"Wow. Looks like a little bit of your sister has rubbed off on you." Silver commented
"Oops."
When the group got to Fifth Avenue, Silver and Sweetie had to resist their excitement from the glimmer of the shops. Shops that glimmered with dresses, shoes, and hats in the sunlight. Mares and Stallions ,even a few fillies and colts on the sidewalk dressed to the nines in the latest fashions, looking ever so fabulous.
"This place is even more amazing in real life." Silver said
"Wait you've never been here before?" Sweetie asked
"Well I've seen the pictures Uncle Hoity sent me and my parents when he first moved here. Sometime after Manehattan Fashion Week. I think."
"That's right. Hoity why did you move to Manehattan if you were so content in Canterlot?" Rarity asked
"Well Rarity, I was set to leave the day after Fashion Week. But I along with Fancy Pants and Fleur missed our train back to Canterlot and there weren't any trains going back until the next morning. So naturally the three of us decided to make the best out of a bad situation." Hoity explained as the group continued through the street. "Sapphire Shores and Neigh-Z generously let us stay in their penthouse suite since Neigh- Z had a concert in Madison Hoof Garden. The five of us went on this fabulous adventure all over Manehattan. We went to Centrot Park, walked a little bit in the Lower East Side, got lost in ClydinaTown, and went on a ferry to watch the sunset. By the time we got back to Canterlot, we realized what we were missing. Don't get me wrong, I love Canterlot, but I think being Manehattan is so much more than the fashion capital of Equestria. Besides most of my clients are in Manehattan. We can see each other face to face more often more. Although I have to admit, the summer here is absolutely dreadful."
"Hmm seems like this place is a really great place to be." Rarity said
Sweetie looked shocked
"Oh don't worry Sweetie." Rarity chuckled "Manehattan maybe the fashion capital of Equestria, but I would never leave Ponyville even for all the bits in the world."
Sweetie signed with relief
"Oh look we're here." Rarity pointed out
The shop was called 'Unique Boutique' (cheesy I know) was owned by Nonnie a pink unicorn whose mother, BellaDonna was a singer whodid acting during the beginning of her career. Thanks to her mother, Nonnie's business had a success that could only match Rarity's. Because of that, there was a little bit of tension between the designers but the agreed not to have their businesses get in the way of their friendship. After all if Pinkie and Cheese can be friends and share the title of 'Super Duper Party Ponies', Rarity and Nonnie can both be respected designers.
"Rarity I can't wait for The Gala." Nonnie said "I've RSVPed as soon as I got the invitation."
"Well I'm glad you can come." Rarity said then she noticed Sweetie and Silver sitting impatiently on the wall "Girls please stop fidgeting. I'm sorry for their actions Nonnie."
"Eh no apologies needed." Nonnie brushed off "I've foalsat my siblings in the shop before. Go on girls, be free to to around the shop."
That was music to Sweetie and Silver ears. They immediately ran for the dresses, bags, and shoes on display.
"Hey look at this." Sweetie used her magic to pick up a light pink cocktail dress
"Ooh I like that. But check this out." Silver had a blue long dress with a blue bow on the back
"I have to get a hat." Sweetie found a white hat with roses on the brim. Silver found a sun hat with a blue ribbon on the top.
"We need shoes for these." Sweetie eyed four golden slippers while Silver found slippers too but they were of course silver.
"But of course we need jewelry to top off." Sweetie found a gold necklace with a heart chain. Silver found a silver chain necklace.
When the girls came from the dressing rooms, The trio gasped at their outfits.Silver relieved to have mane styling products since she never left without them just in case Diamond was having a mane emergency. Sweetie's mane was in waves going down her back. Silver's mane was up using a diamond barrette to hold it up.
"Why Sweetie I didn't know you had an eye for style." Rarity gasped
"Looks like you'll get your Mini Me after all Rarity." Hoity joked Rarity giggled
"Oh yes I've started a children's collection for my clients' children." Nonnie said "It was suppose to be launched next month, but I guess they found it. I better find a better place to hide it til then. Well I got your measurements and designs for your outfits. They should be done in about 3 weeks. And girls, you can keep your dresses, just please let me take a few photos for the promotion."
"Oh you're so kind to do this Nonnie." Rarity said "Girls, Please say 'thank you' to Ms. Nonnie."
Both girls said 'thank you' to Nonnie.
So the group headed back happy with their purchases. Sweetie and Silver were the most happy, trotting happily back to the studio.

As the next few days came by, Sweetie and Silver had a barrel of fun sharing secrets, creating stories, and telling their stories of sightseeing. On Thursday, Sweetie came into the lounging area to see Silver standing next to a big chest.
"Silver whats the chest for?" Sweetie asked
"This my friend is my dress up box." Silver said showing off the chest dramatically "But it's no ordinary dress up box, it's full of fashion throughout the ages."
"Throughout the ages?"
"Yep. Well only from the first issue of Equa. Just one of the perks of having Hoity for an uncle. Well don't just stand there, let's dive on in."
Sweetie grinned and ran to the chest.
A few minutes later, the fillies both came out of the chest. Sweetie was wearing a purple sequined dress. Silver was wearing a teased powder white mane and sunglasses.
"Oh Hoity darling so good to see you." Sweetie imitated Rarity "My my your mane is so tall."
"Yes yes Rarity." Silver said in a deepened voice similar to Hoity "My mane is as big as my ego. And I refuse to be seen without my sunglasses because I'm superior to these commoners." Both girls giggled
"Let's do that again." Sweetie exclaimed
And the two went back into the chest.
Another few minutes later, Sweetie came out wearing a light pink gown,white hat with flowers on it ,holding an white umbrella with pink trim. Silver wore a long sleeved purple dress, and a blue hat.
"Oh darling I love that new hat you're wearing." Sweetie did her best Canterlot accent
"Why thank you darling. I just got it on my trip to Maris." Silver did her best Upper East Side accent "Where did you get your ensemble?"
"this old thing? Oh just something I got when I did a quick trip to Buckingham. You must go it's simply divine."
Both girls laughed again.
"Ok ok , just one more time ."
Five minutes later, Sweetie came up wearing a white dress and a blond curly wig. Silver had a were wolf costume.
"Rawrr. I'm the Ferrous Feral Furry. Fear my wrath!" Silver imitated a were wolf
"Eek!" Sweetie screamed in mock fear "Get back doggie."
Silver ran after Sweetie until the two collapsed on the floor laughing. The two then spent the rest of the day trying on costumes and laughing.
