Chapter 1: Where they sit

I was sitting in my fourth period classroom looking out the window at the snow falling from outside the window as I wait for the bell to ring. The sound of pencils writing on paper filling my ears as I look at the teacher moving around the room, hooves clapping on the hard wood floor. I look back outside to see a humming light followed by a fading white light as I press my hooves against the glass, the cold feeling running down my front legs as the bell rings to say school is out.

" Ok kids get your homework done, and don't forget to study for the test tomorrow" the teacher yells as the kids run out "Balinda aren't you going to go? ", the teacher says in her sweet voice breaking me from the trance of the glowing light

" oh yes ma'am " I say getting up and walking out of class with no other words. I walk through the cold weather the sound of leaves crunching beneath my feet as I walk, the thought of the sparkly cloud filling my mind. " I wonder what that was ", I say looking behind myself to see if I can spot the sparkles. The only thing in my sight after I turn around was trees and the silhouette of the school house beyond the trees. I return to walking home as the trees thin out and the dirt turns into a cobblestone road as I hear my friends yell to me

" hey Balinda wait up ",  I stop and turn around hearing there running feet against cobble. They catch up to me as they breath hard from running " Balinda why did you stay at the schoolhouse for that long " said David.

" I just saw a sparkly mist next to the schoolhouse outside the window, that's all ", I move along the road as I hear my friends footsteps across cobble.

"Oh yeah, what kind of sparkly mist?", he asks as he speed up so I can see him on my right.

"It was just a sparkly mist, is it that important?", I stop looking at him with confusion.

"Yeah, it is", he moves to stand in front of me "it really is". I give a load sigh as I walk past him going to my house our hooves now on concrete.

"Well maybe tomorrow we can go find it", I stop in front of my house as I breath past my scarf.

"I mean if you want, yeah sure", he nods "goodbye Balinda", he walks away as I go into my house the warm air rushing onto my body as the smell of cookies fills my nose.

"Hi mom", I say walking to the living hearing the lovely replay of.

"Hi honey, how was school", as she walks out of the kitchen hugging me in her arms.

"It was ok mom", I go to the coat rack and put my coat and backpack on it leaving my scarf on. "I saw a mist behind the schoolhouse today".

"Oh did you now?", she says looking at me confusion written on her face. "What kind of mist was this mist?", she walks to the kitchen as I follow her, the room getting warmer.

"It was just a mist, but it sparkled", I sit down at the table putting my head into my arms as I wonder what were going to have for dinner.
