my little stylus
chapter 1
Load Full Storyso far my life hasn't been that great, actually if i had a different personality i would say my life was horrible, but with me i'm usually happy with what i can get, where other men hate that they live in small houses, and have no money left for entertainment, im fine with my income. i usually don't do anything after work anyway, i read books, or go walking, or something. but usually i just sit in my house waiting for the time i go to bed and start my day over again.
i used to use my spare time watching mlp fim, but the bright colors and happy faces just remind me of how bland and boring my life is.sometimes i still watch it just to remind myself of better times, it used to be my anchor, when my dad left and my mom was put into a deep depression because she had to raise me alone, and around the time i was 13, she was caught purposely overdosing on medication, so she was admitted to a facility and i was put into a foster home.
thats where i found mlp, when the other kids where outside playing, i was inside singing the intro, and cheering along with the characters, when i reached the age of 18 and i moved out, i guess the love didn't follow,
i moved into a small town, not a lot of people live there, and among them just a few bronies, they quickly realized that i was an extreme moderate and did everything in their power to make me happy, i remember the day that i made an o.c. for myself at the request of a friend, i named him stylus, he was a cream colored pony with a crimson mane, his "special attribute" was artistry, as i looked upon the paper, i felt tears run down my cheeks though i didn't know why, i guess its because just seeing a character that i made with a smile on its face made my life just a little bit better.
i remember that night like it was yesterday, though its been many years, my friends had invited me to a bar to celebrate the new season starter that was played the night before, this often happened, whenever they held a celebration they often invited me, though i didn't know why they did so, usually i just drank my depression away and made an absolute fool of myself, that night i drank particularly bad, there were rumors of layoffs and i was sure that i would be on the list, and i knew that i could not continue living if i was fired,
after a few hours of this i decided to go home and since i could not drive home (my friend had taken my keys for which i was grateful after wards) so i walked home.
it was a cold november night so i hurried home, i guess i was more drunk than i remember, because at one point i was laying face down on the side walk, i don't know how long i lay there, but i remember turning my head slightly and seeing two of the largest eyes i've ever seen staring at me. i thought it was a dog at first (though if i had been sober i would have realised that they eyes were too big for any dog that size)
"go on dog, shoo" i said "get outta here!"
i flailed my arm at him to accentuate my point, he moved back, but continued to stare. i decided to ignore him and just continue home, so i heaved myself off the ground, and started off.i looked back and saw that it was following me, i walked faster, i heard distinctive "clip-clop" behind me, so i started to run. reached my apartment complex and ran up the stairs to my floor, i got to my apartment, unlocked the door, and went inside.the physical exertion had somewhat cleared up my mind a bit, and i had to wonder. why was i running from a dog? i was glad it was late at night, if anyone had seen me i would have looked like an idiot.
i was beginning to wonder if it had followed me all the way home, when i heard two soft knocks at the door,i assumed it was a neighbor checking to see if i was alright, after all what dog could knock on a door? which would have made sense, except for the fact that the complex was empty except for myself.
so i opened the door expecting to see a man. only to find something i had dreamed about for a long time, something that most little girls and nearly all bronies dream about. standing in my door way, only coming up to my ankle was a small cream colored pony with a crimson mane.
the most confusing part was the fact that i knew him, he was my o.c. a pony i created, he wasn't a character from the show, he wasn't a popular fan made character, he wasn't an o.c. from a famous brony. he was mine. he was my stylus.
he stared up at me, his head tilted in wonder, i didn't do anything, i couldn't, i was shocked too badly.
he took the opportunity to go past me into my apartment,i just watched as he went around examining everything in the living room.
i closed the door and wet to bed deciding that it must be a dream and i would wake up to my normal life, and secretly hoping that it wasn't
i woke up with a bad hang over, and a sadder perspective in life, i knew in my heart that it was just a dream, thats all it could be right? theres no way a character from a fictional show could actually exist. its just wistful thinking that anything like that would ever happen to me, i didn't deserve something like that.
these thoughts flashed through my mind as i stared up at my ceiling, in my mind i replayed the events again in my mind, making sure that i wouldn't forget it,hoping to keep it in my mind, so that i would be able to remember it. that was of course until i heard the faint coughing sound coming from the end of my bed.
the rest of the morning consisted of feeding him random things in my fridge to find out what he would eat. carrots and lettuce were his first choice, celery was okay, meat was out of the question obviously, and the rest of the morning i was examining him on my dining room table. he looked exactly like he did when i designed him those weeks ago, a deep creamy coat, and a shiny crimson mane, he didn't have his cutie mark, but i assume its because he is so young.
"so what do i do with you" i asked
he didn't answer, just stared at me and gave a little smile
for awhile i thought about calling someone, but who would i call? it wasn't like i could call someone in equestria, and anyone else would just assume i was insane. but i couldnt take care of him, i had no idea how to raise a child, let alone a pony. but then again, what was i going to do? kick him out? i considered this for a moment and found that if i did that, i could never forgive myself, so ive decided to keep him.
its been a few weeks since i found stylus, and in that time my life has improved to an extreme amount. ive been acting happier, ive been talking to more people, and ive just had a happier out look on life.
hes like the opposite of every bad thing in my life, he will often jump into my lap while i'm sitting on the couch, and stare in amazement as we watch t.v. mesmerized by the colors, i will eat my meals with him, and often i will find him sleeping next to me when i wake up. ive been looking forward to getting home after work, often ignoring my work for the last few minutes before i'm able to go home to him.
ive also been asking for more time off at work to take care of him, people have been asking about my miraculous transformation, i just shrug off the questions with a vague answer, most people just assume i've found someone special in my life, which i have, just not in the way they think.
its been increasingly hard to keep stylus a secret. in the year he's been with me hes becoming increasingly curious about the outside world, sneaking to catch a glimpse as i leave for work, or trying to get out at night, i've been thinking of ways i can take him out without anybody noticing, i can probably take him out at night, but theres no guarantee that there won't be someone to see him.
i was finally able to take him out to see the town, even though its not as flashy, or as beautiful as most of the cities in our world, he seemed to enjoy himself staring at the shops, and the homes, in order to keep him hidden, i put him in a small basket i used to fill with candy and put out for the kids on halloween. i covered it with a blanket to where only his eyes were visible, and i carried it around as i went for my nightly walk. it was a nice night, cool but not cold, the stars were out, and the moon was full, and as i looked into the stars i felt contentment.
he said his first word, this has to be the happiest day in my life. he said his first word. i asked him an innocent question, i did what most fathers do, i asked if he could say daddy, and as i fed him his breakfast he said it. its hard for me to even describe the joy that im feeling right now, a type of joy i've never experienced before, the joy of a father.
its nearly his birthday, im not sure what i can do for him, i've been looking for something that would suit him, and at least bring a smile to his face.and after searching for a while i think i've found the perfect thing for him
