Broken
Sitting huddled up against the base of a tree a turquoise pegasus with a amber and gold streaked mane and a well kept tail punched at the ground in rage. Why me? Spreading her arms wide Lightning Dust flew high in the air with increasing speed, the lightning streak from her gaining size as she rose. The speed she descended to the ground at was astonishing, the air around her gathering clouds that began to spout thunder in a large lightning shaped tornado that followed her closely behind. The vacuum of air sucked the panicking pegasus up into the tornado, the wind currents tearing apart her trainee outfit as she was whipped around by the clouds breaking apart from the main body. Flapping her wings to gain control Dust was instead shot out uncontrollably from the tornado and towards a hollow mountain, once she struck the mountain everything blacked out.

Groaning in pain she opened her eyes, trying to observe her surroundings, her body felt bare and her lower half felt colder for some reason. There was no light to even see, her legs and head could move just fine but her arms and torso couldn’t budge an inch. Once her eyes adjusted to the darkness she realised why she couldn’t move her torso. She was stuck in a small cavern. Well, half stuck. A few voices were heard approaching, male and they seemed to be laughing about a few things. “So then she gave you her hoard?” One asked, laughter laced in his voice.
“Yup, still got the mojo!” The other roared in laughter.
Salvation at last! “Help!” Dust’s muffled voice called out to them. “Get me outta here!”
“Did you hear something, Diamondclaw?”
“Yeah, sounds like a damsel in distress.” Diamondclaw replied, nudging his friend with an elbow who chuckled. “Don’t worry, we’re coming!” He lumbered off towards the voice, stopping to give his friend the signal to come along. “C’mon Coal Scale, you need some action too.”

Coal Scale is a dragon of above average height with a long snout and very bulky build, his scales were black as coal as his name implies with grey scales on his chin and down to his tail. His friend Diamondclaw however had a much more slender build with bright scales that reflected the sun like a mirror, but as delicate as he seemed his claws were sharp as a knife if he let them extend. His underbelly was a lighter shade of his already radiant scales, built for camouflage in daylight while airborne no doubt.
Both figures stopped at where the sound was coming from, Coal Scale inspected the dangling legs and poked the thigh with a claw, earning a kick to his snout. “Frisky one?” Diamond Claw asked while his friend rubbed his snout and nodded. “Ma’am.” One of the pegasi strapping Dust slowly walked towards her, afraid of her reaction. “Our field medics pointed out something you might want to send her to the Canterlot Palace hospital for.”
“The palace hospital?! You know that’s reserved for injuries more than a few cuts and war heroes!” Spitfire roared at her lackey who twiddled with his thumbs.
“That’s the thing… her wings are broken beyond repair…”
Spitfire’s golden coat was slowly replaced with a redder shade, she clenched her fists tight as Rainbow Dash slowly lumbered over to her ex flight partner. “Somepony get her there on the double.” She growled through her gritted teeth. “I volunteer!” Rainbow Dash saluted, trying to not show any signs of sadness in her voice.
“All but Dash, dismissed!” The golden coated pegasus roared to the rest of her squad who saluted and shot off without question, her stone serious face softened slightly and turned to Rainbow Dash. “Why do you want to do this?” She asked, her voice far calmer.
“I can’t help but feel responsible, if I had just spoken up to her cockiness sooner she wouldn’t be in this mess.” Rainbow Dash mused, kneeling down. “Dust, it’s me, you there?” No reply. “You there? Please say something.” She gripped her shoulders and shook her. "Please speak to me!"
“Stop!” Spitfire flew over to hold back the cyan pegasus who was in a state of absolute panic. "She's in a comatose state, she can't hear you despite being awake!" Rainbow Dash stopped trying to resist, allowing her superior officer to let go. "I'm sorry, but this is out of our hands now. With luck she'll come out of her shell a little, but I'm afraid she won't fly ever again even with reconstructive surgery." She gagged after her eyes wandered to the bent and twisted wings that looked more like a pile of feathers thrown on a crushed bottle.
Rainbow Dash stared at Lightning Dust's blank eyes, kneeling down one more time she hugged the comatose pegasus who was limp in her arms. "I'll never know what it's like to lose my wings unless it happens," She stood up, wrapping the belt around her waist that was connected to one end of the stretcher. "She was a great flyer, a bit hardheaded but she had ambition and took risks I never would take. Being easily relatable to her before I met Twilight if I remember myself correctly, I could only imagine the pain she felt from losing her wings in the blink of an eye."
Spitfire was speechless at the little heartfelt speech that was given, all she could do was not in agreement while wrapping the second belt. "C'mon, we better get her treated fast, Princess Celestia won't like this one bit."
Both pegasi flapped their wings and lifted the stretcher, heading for Canterlot.

Wow, why do people simply dislike for being an anthro rape recovery this when there are far worse stories out there to bash on? I only chose the anthro style because I wanted to, and then people run by bashing the decision? I write stories to show a narrative, people. Except for that one exception in Generous Lie's extra chapter.
Anyway, hello curveball. On a side node though, Lightning Dust's parents were made up because they did not exist in the show and I do not read the comics if they exist there. Either way I hope you enjoy the story.
Picking Up the Pieces
The Canterlot Palace hospital wing, a rather empty place because of the lack of wars. Lightning Dust was the first patient in years to come by, but for the first patient back her condition was alarming. A doctor stood by the bed reading her reactions, first by tapping her knee with a hammer and nodding slowly before writing down the results. Lighnting Dust’s parents sat nearby on two chairs as Rainbow Dash stood by the door in case she was needed, a saddened stare on her face.
“Will she be alright, doctor?” Her mother, Star Dust who asked, holding her husband’s hand. She was a pegasus of average height with a turquoise coat and a red mane and tail.
“I have no idea, at this rate the condition could remain with her for her whole life.” The doctor replied, shining a light into Lightning Dust’s eye and waving it back and forth which she followed lowly. “Her eyes are responsive so we can confirm she is not in a vegetative state, just she refuses to acknowledge the world around her.” He reassured them gently.
“So what happened to her? We need her to be okay to carry on the family legacy of athleticism.” Hammer Toss rested back on the chair while ignoring the silent glare Rainbow Dash was giving him. He was an earth pony with a very athletic and bulky build, grey coat and a contrasting blond mane and tail.
“Well you see, if I do remember correctly she was…” He trailed off as he read the incident report, reading it over and over again with his eyes widening each read through and cleared his throat. “Here.” He handed the report over to Star Dust who started reading it through with Hammer Toss reading over her shoulder.
Throwing the piece of paper away Lightning Dust’s mother stood up and ran with a hand held to her mouth for the lavatory while Hammer Toss simply sat there, his mane covering his eyes.
“N-No…” She mumbled while laying in the bed, earning the attention of all who are still in the room. Hearng that one word broke her out of of it. “Keep them away! Keep them away!” Lightning Dust kicked and screamed as the experiences played over in her head, every grizzly detail of her pain.
“Someone restrain her!” The doctor called out to the nurses while he tried holding her down so she can’t hurt anyone or herself. “Calm down, you’re safe here! Shh, relax.”
Lightning Dust began to calm down, hyperventilating as she observed the room before being met with her father’s familiar glare of disappointment. She grabbed the covers and hid under them like a filly, shivering in fear.
Hammer Toss’ eye twitched, trying his best to keep his composure after noticing her wings bandaged and broken as well as her little fright moment.
“Miss Dash, I think we should leave the parents in peace.”
Nodding in response the cyan pegasus opened the door, allowing the doctor to pass through before walking out herself after taking a last look at the cowering Lightning Dust then walking out, closing the door behind her.
Making sure that they were all out of earshot, Hammer Toss cracked his knuckles and pulled off the covers. “Raped by dragons?” He fumed, grabbing her by the mane and holding her face level to his as she struggled. “You allowed these filthy creatures to touch you?! Not only that you let them break your wings, a pegasus without wings is more worthless than infertile soil!” He shouted in her face, not too loud to not alert anypony else nearby before slapping her hard in the face causing her to struggle harder while crying. “Shut up!” He clamped her mouth with his large rough hand. “And stop crying!” He added after getting annoyed with her sobs for mercy. “I said shut up!” Hammer Toss let go of her mouth and clenched his fist, punching her in the gut, knocking out all the air she had.
Being a trophy child she was pushed to the limit daily, even without the overbearing monster around she tried her damned best at anything athletic in case he was watching her. Lightning Dust was always afraid of him, if she did not reach his standards all she would get for supper was a grass sandwich and a glass of water before being sent out to do wing pushups through the night until he said she was finished. Anything otherwise earned her a harsh beating with a belt. All this together, made her the arrogant and risk hungry daredevil she was.
“Worthless!” He dragged her off the bed and threw her on the cold floor with a thud, giving her back a hard kick. Lightning Dust yelped in pain, trying to not be too loud in fear his beatings would escalate even further. One last kick however caught her broken wings which let out a sickening crack as the already broken bones ground against each other under her skin, she curled up replacing what should be screams with wailing.
Having enough of her, Hammer Toss grabbed her hair again to throw her back on the bed. “YOU SON OF A BITCH!” A voice roared at him from the door, standing in the doorway was Rainbow Dash, nostrils flaring like a bull’s. Flaring her wings the pegasus charged, tackling the surprised Hammer Toss with all her might, he dropped Lightning Dust who crawled to a corner and huddled against it. “So it was your fault she became like this?!”
Her fist connected to his muzzle with a loud crunch, blood leaking out his nostrils. Her punches became faster until they were blue blurs which looked like they were simply touching his face, though his convulsing body was telling an entirely different story along with the repetitive sound of a beating being delivered before slowing down to catch her breath. “What kind of dad would attack his own daughter in her time of need?!” Balling her fists together she was about to bring it down on his already bruised and battered face before being held back by a golden aura around her wrists.
“Stop this at once.” A regal but gentle voice spoke, approaching from behind as the aura lifted Rainbow Dash. The aura felt warm and comforting, breaking it’s grip. Celestia, Princess of the Sun stood, not even blinking as her eyes focussed on the downed Hammer Throw then Rainbow Dash, who flinched at how quickly her concentration was shifted. “As much as I hate violence, it seemed like the only answer you could deliver.” Giving a nod in appreciation before returning her gaze to Hammer Throw. “As for you, the court will have a lot of fun deciding how long you should stay on Outlaw Island. Guards, get him out of my sight before he regains consciousness, and give the mother instructions to go home and leave her a fruit basket as an apology for the visit being cut short.”
“Yes, your highness.” Her two accomplices clad in royal guard armour walked in and sheathed their spears to lift the large earth pony, heaving him out the door which was shut with Celestia’s magic.
“Princess, I’m sorry I-“ A hand held up from the sovereign stopped her from speaking any further.
“No need, I understand completely.” Celestia smiled, striding past Rainbow Dash to the still cowering Lightning Dust and got on her knees. “Shh…” She cooed, opening her arms in welcome like a mother.
The turquoise coated pegasus shrunk back into the corner, frightened as a newborn.
“It’s okay, we won’t hurt you, I promise.”
Observing the still open arms warily, Lightning Dust slowly crawled forward before throwing herself in the welcoming embrace all the while stifling sobs, Celestia stroked her mane with a gentle hand. “I’m scared…” She blurted out.
“Do you want to go back on the bed?” She asked.
Lightning Dust nodded, the golden aura covered her entire body, levitating her onto the bed and tucking her in. “Thank you.” She weakly smiled, dozing off to a peaceful nap.
“I didn’t know you had that side to you, princess.” Rainbow Dash gawked, sitting by the bed.
“You pick up a few things after having a protege since she was a filly.” The sovereign chuckled, sitting next to the cyan pegasus, adjusting her golden tiara. “So, do you want to take care of her?”
“Wha-?!”
“You heard me right, do you?”
Unsure of what to say at the sudden question she slid back in her chair, avoiding eye contact. “Uh, I don’t know. She hates me…”
“She saw what you did for her, I’m sure you and her will get along fine.”
“Her wings are broken!” Rainbow Dash shouted out, covering her face. “I can’t help but feel responsible!”
“I don’t want to force you, if you do not wish to I won’t try to make you.”
A moment of silence passed between them, only being broken by the slow snoring of a slumbering Lightning Dust. “Well…” Scratching the back of her ear Rainbow Dash smiled and turned to Celestia. “‘I’ll do it, for her.”
“I’m glad you made that choice.” Celestia stood, seemingly floating towards the door with her feet hidden under her simple yet beautifully handmade dress. “Expect to see her at your doorstep in a week once she’s treated for her bruises, she'll be escorted so have no worry.”
“Wait!” She got up to catch up with Celestia.
Stopping in her tracks at the sudden request to hold still Celestia turned her head with the same calm smile. “Yes?”
“Uhm, if it’s ok with you, if she gets her wings fixed and all that jazz, I hope they do. Can she be reenlisted back into Wonderbolt Academy?”
“I’ll see what I can do.” Celestia nodded, closing the door behind her.
Sighing with relief Rainbow Dash sat back down. "Heh, you're kinda cute when you snooze like that."
Rainbow Dash’s house floated above the outskirts of Ponyville, built with her own two hands and a little help from the community out of special construction level clouds. The living room was modest, lightweight material of course with an oak wood book shelf, much more in her bedroom. A television which was now barely used by her since getting into reading sat on oak table surrounded by drawers full of games and movies. The cyan pegasus snored on the couch with a Daring Do book on her face in her underwear, an alarm blared nearby causing her to shoot up, sending the book flying halfway across the room. Rainbow Dash’s eyes sagged from the late night reading she had been catching up on, the academy was not a place for late nights but thankfully she had been sent home while the physical exam results come in for her final written exam to be sent out.
Rubbing her eyes she stretched and hopped off, doing a few stretches before scratching her back. Heading over to the kitchen she tossed some bread in the toaster, staring wearily and eagerly at the cooking toast with a jar of jam in one hand and a butter knife in the other. The loud ‘ding’ from the toaster signalled the arrival of her breakfast, shooting the two pieces of toasted bread up like two crunchy rockets. Jumping up she placed the knife in the jam and swung at the bread, coating both of the bread pieces in strawberry jam. Landing down the cyan pegasus held out a plate with a proud smile, catching the two pieces. “Dash one, breakfast zero!” She cheered, holding up a piece to her open mouth.
The bell rung, interrupting breakfast’s progress to her hungry stomach. Grumbling Rainbow Dash put the plate down, hoping for the love of Celestia it isn’t another salespony. Opening the door she was met with a Lightning Dust, a bag full of clothes and other essentials sitting on the cloud by her side and wore a red shirt with cargo pants. She was accompanied by another pegasus in royal armour holding a letter, handing it out to Rainbow Dash.

Thank you for living up to your element even more than we all hoped, my sister and I wish you the best of luck.
I have some bad news though, after the incident it has come to our attention that Lightning Dust has the mentality of a foal. So she can act a little immature and can occasionally have fits, as she proved when we tried interviewing her about what happened so we can find the perpetrators. Please take good care of her and I know this may sound harsh but keep her away from Spike or anything dragon related until she makes a full mental recovery.
But like every downside there is an upside, I had a chat with Spitfire and she would be more than happy to enlist her on the condition she can fly once more.

Looking up from the letter with an arched eyebrow she took a quick glance at the wings which were still bandaged, these might need changing to help her moult and keep her wings preened every now and then. Out of nowhere she received a tight hug, the guard chuckled slightly before saluting and flying off to leave the two alone. “Thank you for protecting me.” She grinned, staring appreciatively with her golden yellow eyes into Rainbow Dash’s magenta eyes who shifted awkwardly in the embrace.
“Can’t…breath.” She wheezed.
Releasing her tight grip, Lightning Dust picked up her bag with the innocent grin still on her face. “Sorry, so wheres my room?”
“I haven’t gotten another room… so you get to sleep in my room, I’ll have the couch.”
Lightning Dust hopped up and down with a grin as Rainbow Dash observed the spectacle, a depressing sight after what she had been through. “Yay, thank you!” She hugged Rainbow Dash again before walking in the house, dragging the bag inside with her.
“Before we do anything today,” Rainbow Dash opened a drawer and brought out a first aid kit. “We need to get those bandages changed and those wings preened if you want your wings to grow big and strong again.”
Stopping in her tracks Lightning Dust’s pupils dilated at the thought of feeling pain in her wings again. "I don’t wanna!” She pouted, stepping away.
“We have to, you don’t want to moult those bandages off and end up with bad wings do you?” She carefully approached, getting out some gauze and bandages.
“I still don’t wanna!” She yelled in return, stepping away a little more. “You can’t make me!”
“Please?”
“No!”
She sighed, irritated, wiping her prismatic mane out her eyes to get a clear leap. “If you can’t catch them with honey, grab a flyswatter, as mom always said…” She grumbled, flaring her wings.
Knowing what she’s about to do, Lightning dust turned tail and ran as her carer gave chase with flight. Stopping quickly she ducked, allowing Rainbow Dash to fly over her and right into the cloudy walls with a fluffy thud. “Nyeh nyeh.” She stuck her tongue out.
“Oh it is on!” Rainbow Dash snorted, glaring daggers at the filly-minded pegasus running around the room. Stopping a moment she instead had another plan, seems like honey would work after all. She simply walked past Lightning Dust who stared in confusion, tilting her head and following. “Jam?” She asked, holding up what was her breakfast. Not honey but it'll do. She thought.
Nodding fanatically Lightning Dust jumped at the plate which was withdrawn. “Aww…”
Wagging a finger slowly Rainbow Dash pointed at her wings. “Jam and toast, for you letting me change your bandages.”
Whimpering as a response she stared at the toast, slightly drooling at the sight of it and how sweet it would taste. “Fine… gimme gimme!” She held out her hands for the plate.
“Promise?” rainbow Dash asked skeptically.
“I promise.”
“Ok,” She pointed to the couch in the living room. “Lie down over there.”
Obeying to her carer’s command Lightning Dust laid down on the couch, Rainbow Dash began to gently undo the bandages. With one wing uncovered she quickly pulled out uneven or unconnected feathers, in some cases situating them back to their normal positions. “It hurts…” Lightning Dust whined, trying not to burst into tears from the pain.
“Sorry, I’m done with this wing.” Rainbow Dash reassured her, wrapping up the cleaned wing with new bandages and gauze. “Sorry but I have to do the other one.” She added, unwrapping the second wing. This one thankfully wasn’t as messy as the first, but it did take a while of gentle stroking to reveal lots of loose feathers that refused to moult that slid out from the layers of fixed feathers. Yeesh, I feel like my mom.
Resting a little easier, the pain subsided as her wings were now bandaged good as new. “Thanks.” Lightning Dust smiled as she eagerly bit into the toast on the table that was taken from the kitchen by Rainbow Dash. Well, breakfast was a small price to pay.
How did Twilight deal with these things when Spike was a baby? Rainbow Dash thought as she picked up the book on the other side of them room, sat down and began to read to distract herself from the loud crunching of toast. “Careful, don’t get crumbs all over the couch…” She sighed, flicking through a page.
“So wanna go outside and meet your friends? I want to.” Said Lightning Dust, her cheeks puffed with chewed jam and toast before gulping it all down.
“Eh…I need to talk to Twilight a sec first, ok?” Replied Rainbow Dash, bookmarking her page and putting the book away, heading for the door. “Don’t cause too much trouble while I’m away, and for the love of Celestia, if you need some fresh air stay near the house and use the cloud stairs I bought last week.” She called out, putting on her jeans and black tank top which were conveniently near the door.
Nodding in response she understood everything told to her by her carer, biting down on the last morsel of toast and jam. “Can I watch some movies?” She pointed towards the television parallel to the couch.
“Sure, just avoid the ones in the third drawer.” With that she flew off with a rainbow coloured streak in the direction of Ponyville.
“Alright, one drop of potassium.” Twilight Sparkle instructed Spike who used a pipette to extract the potassium, holding it over the flask of bubbling liquid under a bunsen burner.
Twilight stood over her assistant, wearing a lab coat and safety goggles with her mane bundled in a neat bun. The pipette got closer to the flask, squeezing it slowly between his claws the baby dragon was sweating bullets next to Twilight. A single drop of potassium fell into the mixture, the bubbling intensified from the chemical reaction and it was glowing brightly from the heat. “Whew…” Spike wiped the seat off his forehead scales, giving a thumbs up.
“Good job, Spike. Now all we need is for this to remain undisturbed, it’s still highly volatile.” She warned, lowering the heat on the bunsen burner. And like everything that can go wrong with this, Rainbow Dash burst through the door. “Huh?” The flask shook and bubbled even more, colours swirling around inside. Thinking quickly she encased the flask with a magic bubble as it detonated inside with a blinding flash of light.
“Oh my gosh, sorry about your, uh, thing.” Rainbow Dash apologised, scratching the back of her head.
“That’s fine, why the hurry?” Twilight dusted the tabletop from the residue. “Not like you ever stop hurrying, but whatever.”
“I have a problem.”
“A problem? with what?”
Rainbow Dash paused awkwardly, being her she obviously mud thane forgotten how to say this. “Well…caring for-“
“Tank? He's at Fluttershy's since you were at the-”
“No. A mare who has the brain of a filly.” Rainbow Dash deadpanned.
Taking a moment to look at her speedy friend, Twilight turned to look at Spike and shared a confused stare before they both turned to Rainbow Dash. “Pardon?” She asked, removing her goggles in case they were impairing her hearing.
“I chose to look after Lightning Dust.”
“Woah woah slow down! Lightning Dust? The pegasus who’s a cockier version of you? Why on Equestria do you want to care for her after she almost killed us, your friends!” She exclaimed and threw her arms up, clearly never receiving the news.
Thankfully in cases like these, Rainbow Dash thought ahead for something at least, digging in her back pocket she pulled out the doctor’s diagnosis as well as Celestia’s letter she received this morning. “Just read these two.” She handed the two papers to Twilight, never before had the cyan pegasus looked so serious without bursting out into a headstrong rage.
Sighing she might as well, picking up the diagnosis first she paused at the Canterlot insignia on the top left corner. “This is the Canterlot Palace hospital wing, how did she-“
“Read it.” Rainbow Dash sternly told Twilight, almost like it was a command.
Not wanting to get on Rainbow Dash’s bad side, she read through the diagnosis, bringing it closer to read it again.
“Alright! Thanks!” He gave Twilight a thankful hug for getting the day off and ran out the door on his stubby legs after hopping off the stool he stood on to reach the table.
Once the door shut, Twilight slammed the paper down. “Please tell me this is a sick joke, because I’m not laughing.” She glared at Rainbow Dash. “I know she’s not the most popular for her attitude, but, this is rather excessive isn’t it?!”
“I’m not kidding around!” Rainbow Dash snapped back, picking up the paper and thrust it to Twilight’s face. “Does this look like something I’d joke about?!”
Taken aback by her friend’s sudden outburst, she adjusted her glasses to read it over again. Falling back on a chair with a hand to her forehead. “Wh-…How- Wha-” Stumbling with her words Twilight very rarely had a loss for words, an explanation would be the first thing out her, but to see her speechless was a rare occurrence many of the highest achieving unicorns would pay highly to see just to feel better about themselves. To distract herself she read Celestia’s letter thoroughly, putting it to the side and began rubbing her temples with a groan. “No dragons?”
“Yeah, she has a phobia of them now and she wants to meet you guys. So I came to warn you about Spike and anything dragon related as well as how to look after her.” Rainbow Dash explained.
“Well, try being how you are around Scootaloo.” Twilight answered. “Oh boy, the girls won’t believe this…”
“The dragon thing or the brain thing?”
“Both!”
“Oh crap, I need to get dinner but I dunno how to cook.” Rainbow Dash panicked after remembering that she has to actually also provide food for Lightning Dust.
“I’d recommend some takeout…and cooking classes” Twilight recommended, picking out a pamphlet for a Japonese fast food restaurant nearby. “They actually sell toppings for normal ramen separately if you’re worried about any allergies she might have.”
“Thanks Twi, please tell everypony else about this.”
“I will, though I might need to tell them at the same time at this weekend spa session Rarity booked for us.”
“Alright good idea, I’ll book Dust in.” Dash smiled, flying out the door with the same speed she came in.

“I see dead ponies.” The character on television spoke, Lightning Dust hid under a blanket in the evening lit room as the movie played.
“Dust I’m home!” Called out Rainbow Dash as she walked in holding two bags of takeout, placing them on the table. “Sorry I was out so long, so how- Dust, did you spend this whole time watching horror movies?”
Lightning Dust nodded slowly, staring down apologetically. Childish curiosity, a marvel of nature.
Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes, ruffling Lightning Dust’s mane. “It’s cool, at least you’re safe. So, hungry?”
“Yeah, what’s for dinner?”
“Ramen, was the only thing healthier than hayburgers that I could get for you.” The cyan pegasus held up the second bag. “What topping would you like?”
“Spicy!” Squealed Lightning Dust in reply, peppers it is.
One hearty meal later the moon hung high in the night sky, shining its gentle light upon all who see it. Both mares sat together on the couch watching some good horror films, though Lightning Dust did not seem too fond of Friday the 13th. “Popcorn?” Asked Rainbow Dash, holding out a bowl of warm popcorn in the middle of the third movie they were watching, The Fog.
“Yes please.” Gripping a handful of popcorn in her hand she shovelled the handful in her mouth, chewing thoroughly and swallowing.
“Jeeze you got an appetite.”
All Lightning Dust did was grin with a giggle before jumping at a giant spider in the film which roared at the unsuspecting ponies on screen. “No no no! Aw, he was my favourite character too…” She pouted.
Rainbow Dash glanced over to the clock, past her bedtime if she really was a foal. “Alright Dust, bedtime.”
“Awww!” Lightning Dust groaned in reply, putting on a face to convince her carer otherwise. “Pleaaaase?”
“No, bedtime.” The cyan pegasus sternly replied. “Healthy sleep means healthy wings, also I kinda signed you up for a spa treatment tomorrow that might help. My friends’ll be there too.”
Thinking about it for a second the filly minded mare stared at the television, she had to admit Rainbow Dash had a point and she did really want to meet her friends. She let off a small yawn. “Ok…” She gave up, walking to the bathroom to brush her teeth.
Once both mare's nightly rituals were complete, Lightning Dust lumbered over to the bed, flopping onto it in her pyjamas which consisted of a lightning streaked shirt and lightning streaked trousers. Rainbow Dash assisted in tucking her in, yawning herself before heading to the bedroom door. “Sleep well.” Rainbow Dash tiredly smiled.
“W-Wait! What if the giant insects come out the closet!” Lightning dust called out while pointing the closet, hiding her face beneath the covers with only her eyes poking out to pleadingly stare at her carer, who was face palming. “Please protect me from the monsters.” She whimpered.
Rolling her eyes she tucked herself in, shouldn’t be too long until the scaredy mare falls asleep. Lightning Dust now feeling safer, closed her eyes and fell asleep before they fully closed, must have been a heck of a morning she had before coming over. Seeing her chance, Rainbow Dash slowly slid towards the end of the bed but felt two arms wrap around her. Turning her head over she was met with the sight of Lightning Dust snuggling up against her, smiling blissfully. For whatever reason she could just not bring herself to pull away, even if she wished to.
“Alright, just this once…” Returning the gentle hug comfortingly the smile on Lightning Dust’s face grew wider, nuzzling against Rainbow Dash who awkwardly blushed. “Goodnight.” She smiled in return, adjusting herself for the shared embrace and closing her eyes.
