Our story begins with his story, and his story is one of darkness and emptiness. He was raised by a family of greedy unicorns who sought power beyond those of even the most divine of beings, and in the deepest and darkest parts of Equestria, they waited patiently for the perfect time to show the world what magic can really do.

Their age spells kept them alive for so long that the oldest creatures of the world have long forgotten them, legend says that they may have been the first of all of the unicorns. Their goal was simple: to destroy all who dwell in the brilliant glow of light magic, but their minds were no longer theirs. Magic is the source of all life, but it is also the source of all of death and darkness, their dark magic stole their hearts and they are now one of the many creatures of darkness that plague Equestria and threaten all of it's inhabitants.

A child of unknown origin stumbled into their cold grasp and they stored him in their spurious and dark embrace. This child of circumstance showed signs of strange talents in magic, and so the tribe of avid light eaters exploited this talent. They planned to raise him up to become just as hungry for power as they are now.

He picked up on the dark arts very quickly and by the time he was in his teenage years, he had surpassed some of the most powerful elders of the family, this was his life, this was all he knew. They encouraged him by telling him that he is the most important part of their plan and that when they are finally ready to lay waste to the world of light magic, he will be the one who slays Luna and Celestia.
