Can you maybe teach me how to make them? Um if you’re not too busy doing, um, other stuff…” Applejack looked surprised, “Why in the hay would Ah be busy? Ah’m never too busy to make pies!” she drawled, “And if there’s guests here, Ah’ll do mah chores later! Ah wouldn’t leave guests unattended!” “Oh ok. You seem like a nice person. Maybe we should be friends” Fluttershy was speaking, but almost to herself. Applejack paused. Yeah, maybe we should be friends. “Anyhoo, let’s get BAKIN’!” she raced through the kitchen doorway. Fluttershy hesitated, not wanting to go without permission. A head popped into the room, “Fluttershy, ya missed yer cue.” “Sorry!” Sitting in Rarity’s sleek SUV, Pinkie Pie felt a bit out of place. Ok, no. A lot out of place. Everything was fancy-schmancy leather and smelled of Febreez. There was a crystal cooler holding cold drinks, a personal TV and built-in radio for each passenger, and even a small rack of clothes labeled ‘Emergency Outfits’ in very neat cursive. Beside her, Rarity was sitting with her legs crossed under her delicate purple gown. “Hey Rarity,” she didn’t even wait for her to answer, “You should decorate this place more. Streamers, balloons, confetti, y’know?” “Pinkie Pie, you know that would look ridiculous. Besides, this car was a gift from my father to celebrate my 12th birthday; I absolutely refuse to ruin it with those silly things,” Rarity declared, “Although, it wouldn’t be such a terrible idea to spruce you up a bit if you’re going to show up to the show beside me.” “What’s that?” Pinkie pointed to a brush that Rarity was holding out to her face. “It’s a powder brush; I’m going to apply some makeup on you.” She replied, “You have gorgeous features you know, almost as gorgeous as mine. I’ll just touch your eyes up the teensiest bit… Hmm, some clear gloss would look nice with your complexion… Oh! I thought I’d never use this one but it’ll look fabulous on you…” the whole time she was talking, she was rapidly applying makeup to Pinkie’s face. When the girls stepped out of the car, Rarity had Pinkie in a beautiful sequined pink party dress. She looked smashing herself, in her knee-length purple long-sleeved gown. Both had ridiculous amounts of makeup on, but still looked natural, just spiced up a bit. “Carousel Boutique, here we come!” they exclaimed in unison. Rainbow Dash breezed past pedestrians, gym bag thumping on her back as she pedaled towards her dad’s office. She loved the adrenaline in her ears, the feeling was like flying! Up ahead was the building that her dad worked in. Screeching to a halt, Dash pulled out her lock and locked her bike up. She stepped up to the window and gave the secretary a wave. Dumb security, she thought as the secretary unlocked the door, Every time I come here I have to knock and it makes me look like a ‘daddy’s little girl’. The secretary smiled at her, “Your daddy’s just down the hall Rainbow.” As if I didn’t know that already. She refused from letting a secretary spoil her afternoon. Dash confidently strode down the hall and knocked three times on her dad’s door. “Come in!” was her response. She flung open the door telling him about what she had planned for that night, “… And then we’re going to get pizza and we’re gonna have so much fu-“ Her dad cut her off, “Rainbow honey, you know I don’t have the funds to pay for this sort of thing.” “I know! That’s why I paid for it with the money I earned from my summer job delivering mail!” “And the pizza?” “Come on dad, you get pizza every Tuesday,” Rainbow stated. “Well then count me in!” her dad replied with a grin. Dash tossed him the gym bag, “I brought your ‘workout clothes’. NOW GO CHANGE!” “Aye-aye Captain Dash. Meet me outside.” He said as he got up and headed off towards the washrooms. Rainbow Dash smiled as she started to the door. When We Met"Pinkamena Diane Pie! Get up this instant!" Well there's no need to tell me that! I was up before sunrise! I just couldn't wait for the first day of middle school! I pretended I was still asleep just to prank my mom. Pranks are fun and I looooooooove fun!!! "MOOOM! I'm so tired! I don't wanna get up!" I giggled under my breath so she wouldn't hear,"It's only 7 in the morning!" "Pinkamena!" Mom burst into my room, "Don't tell me you thought I didn't know you were up at 5:30 laughing like a turkey!" Oopsy daisy! I guess Mom heard me. I was being pretty loud after all. I can't believe I forgot I'm usually as loud as 37 talking ponies trotting on breaking glass in the morning. "Oops,"I giggled again"Ok I'll go get ready." My alarm went off. "Urgh! Shut up stupid clock!" In the bed beside mine, my dad groaned,"Rainbow, your clock's right. You have to get up or you'll be late for your first day of middle school." "I never signed up to get out of bed early. Plus, I liked this clock where it was, down in the basement." Dad really wanted me do to well in school. Or at least ok in school. "There's a track and field team there, Dash. Canterlot Middle School is one of the best athletic schools around." Dad tried. A track and field team? Count me in! I woke up to the smell of pancakes. My favorite ones: Blueberry. The scent wafted up the stairs into my 10 by 10 metre room. Our maid Minuette was probably up early preparing this meal for my first day of middle school. Truth be told, I wasn't that excited. Since Daddy get job promotions a lot, I switch schools almost every year. However, today was MIDDLE SCHOOL. Much higher ranked than little old elementary school. I just HAD to find the perfect outfit for this occasion. Then I remembered that yesterday I had already decided on a white dress with purple flats. The school had a dumb 'no heels' policy otherwise I would've worn the gorgeous red heels that I'd bought yesterday. I changed out of my silk pyjamas and into the dress. After curling my hair just so, I went downstairs for some delicious pancakes topped with maple syrup. The perfect way to start a perfect year! Tap. Tap tap. Tap. Tap tap tap. TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP!!! "Huh? Angel?" I looked up to see my pet bunny rabbit Angel tapping his foot impatiently on my chest. He pointed towards my alarm clock. At first, all I could see was a blur, but after my eyes adjusted, it read 7:15. CMS starts at 8! "Oh dear! I'm going to be late for my first day of middle school! Thank you so much Angel, for waking me up." I told my bunny. I hurried to get dressed, choosing a comfy yellow sweater-dress to wear that fall morning. After dressing, I brushed my teeth and hurried downstairs. I greeted my aunt as she poured me some milk in a bowl of cereal. I hurriedly wolfed down my cereal and rushed out the door into the forest path that led to school. "Applejack dear! Time fer school!" Granny called from the barn cradling little Apple Bloom in her arms. I glanced over from loading bales of hay onto my brother, Big Macintosh's truck. I wasn't even done loading half the ones I was supposed to have done. Probably cause I woke up late this morning. I didn't get enough sleep last night cause I was busy thinkin' 'bout how different middle school's gonna be from elementary. "But Granny, ah didn't even get mah chores done!" I protested. "Y'all can get yer chores done after school! Ya don't wanna be late on yer first day!" Granny had a point. She always did. So I scrambled into the barn to get my bag then hopped into Big Mac's truck. "Ready ta go?" I asked. "Eeyup." The After School HangoutIt was 2:30. The exact time that Rainbow Dash had been waiting for. She sped off on her bike towards the 1 bedroom, 1bathroom bungalow that was called home. She knew her dad was still at work, busy trying to support the two of them himself. When she spotted the familiar faded rainbow garage, Dash smiled. ‘Dad’s gonna be so happy tonight!’ she thought. After throwing her bike on the ground, she ran for the old storage closet in the basement. She rummaged around for a while, then triumphantly picked out 2 badminton rackets and some birdies. Rainbow zipped the birdies in a Ziploc and tossed them and the rackets into a gym bag. Grinning, she checked the time, ‘Huh. Four minutes till 3. It only takes me half an hour to bike to dad’s office. Dad...’ Her grin slowly turned to a flat line on her face. She was really worried about him. Since her mom died in a car accident, it’s like he turned into a ghost. The only time he was really happy was when he was with Dash. That’s why she decided to use the money she earned from her summer job delivering the newspapers to pay for a term of ‘family’ badminton. Though she wasn’t going to tell anyone or they’d think she was mushy. Rainbow sighed as she turned the TV on. It was broadcasting some dumb story about a girl her age with purple hair and her new clothing line. She changed the channel to one that was showing her favorite show. When the episode finished, she got up and rubbed her eyes. It was time to get going. As she got off the bus, Fluttershy smiled happily. It was good to be home. She walked up the steps knowing full well her aunt was going to be home for her first day. When she knocked though, the one who answered was, impossibly, her bunny Angel. She gratefully stepped inside wondering where her Aunt Posey could be this time. Angel leapt onto the counter and pointed at a note. It said, Fluttershy, My apologies for not being here on your first day of middle school. I simply had to go to the fashion show at that new shop, Carousel Boutique, correct? The girl that runs it is only about your age! Quite talented, I imagine. If you’re not comfortable staying home alone, go to one of your friends (as I’m sure you made many) houses and spend the afternoon there. When you want me to pick you up, just give me a ring. Love, Aunt Posey That wasn’t unusual in their household. Her aunt liked to keep up with all the things going on in Canterlot so Fluttershy was alone often. Usually, she’d be fine herself, but today she wanted some company. That farm-girl Applejack seemed nice enough; maybe she’d head over there for a bit. Ding dong! “Ah’ll get it!” yelled Big Mac. He leapt off the couch and ran to the door. When he opened it, it wasn’t who he’d expected it to be. Standing there, in the doorway, was a beautiful girl with long, crimson hair holding a bunny. He blushed, then snapped back to his senses. “Ah reckon yer lookin’ fer Applejack, eh?” he asked. “Does she live here?” her voice was practically a squeak. How cute. Big Mac hated himself for thinking that. And he didn’t even know her either! “Eeyup.” “Um… Can you get her please? If you don’t mind that is…” “Eeyup.” he replied, then hollered, “APPLEJACK! A FRIEND’S HERE FER YA!” Applejack, hearing her brother’s call, ran over to the front of the barn, dropping all her tools in her haste. She never had many friends, being so busy with her chores and all. While most other girls would just think their brothers were pranking them, she knew Big Mac was telling the truth. Honesty, in her family, was what made a person a person. “Oh hey there Fluttershy, Ah think it was...” AJ greeted her. Fluttershy merely nodded. “Come on in!” Applejack beckoned her in the barn, “Granny Smith’s got one o’ her famous pies a cookin’!” Rarity pursed her lips. Her mirror image did the same thing. Perfect! She had just been touching up in the school restroom and getting ready for the big ‘Grand Opening of Carousel Boutique’ fashion show. Or, as she liked to call it, la pèice de résistance. Of course, she would’ve loved to be there for the whole event, however, in her father’s opinion, there were more important things to be attending to. Also known as, your first day of middle school. Blegh. Whatever. At least she got to go to the fashion event. Well, she planned it so she could make at least her favourite event. “Rare!” The shrill voice of Amethyst Star made its way into Rarity’s brain. “Your dad’s chauffeur’s here to pick you up!” “Amy darling, how many times have I told you, its father not dad! And also, he’s my private chauffeur!” “Well, you coming or not?” Amethyst questioned, “You’re gonna be late!” Just then, a new face popped out in front of the door, “HEY YOU GUYS!!” Pinkie Pie. “WHATCHA DOING?!” “Hello there, Pinkie dear. I’m just preparing to go to the fashion show that my boutique’s holding.” Rarity replied. “CAN I COME?” “Sure, I guess…” “THEN LET”S GO!” Pinkie pulled her out to the waiting car. “Take us to Carousel Boutique please.” Was Rarity’s last statement before the 2 girls were whisked away towards the waiting show. The School and it's Inhabitants"Welcome to your first day of middle school!" A lady in a grey cardigan over a purple top stepped through the door, "I'm Ms. Berry Punch and I will be your homeroom teacher this year. Now, I don't think any of you know your way around the school yet-" "Oh but The Great and Powerful Trixie does!" A girl with wavy, light blue locks cut her off. Berry Punch shot her a glare, "Very well Miss Trixie, but I'm afraid the rest of your class doesn't. Anyhow, let's get on with our school wide tour, shall we?" The school consisted of a gym, a newly renovated auditorium (courtesy of Rarity's dad), a library, a science lab, and 3 computer labs. After the tour, the class was buzzing with excitement. "I can't wait to use the gym!" A boy with navy hair styled messily declared. "I can't wait to run on the field!" Rainbow Dash exclaimed, "And it's my opinion that counts!" Soarin faked amusment,"You think?" "Hell, I know!" "Then why're those girls looking at us funny?" A group of girls were giggling in a corner. Rarity was among them chatting about the latest style, when she got her first phone, cute nail polish designs and (obvi) BOYS! "That guy talking to Rainbow Dash is pretty cute," Amethyst Star sighed. "But he looks like he's already taken," Rarity noted eyeing Dash,"Not to worry dear, he wouldn't suit your style anyway."she quickly reassured Amethyst. "Oh look at that hottie!" Flitter gasped, "Do I look ok?" Rarity had to suppress a grin; the 2 girls were desperate! Out loud, she said,"Honestly girls, Thunderlane would look better with that apple farmer. You're too good for him," She smiled. They were too desperate. Applejack was reading a gardening manual when a cloud of bright pink cotton candy appeared in front of her. She licked her lips before realizing that there was a head attached to it. "Gah!" She yelped, leaping a foot into the air. As she landed, she saw it was only Pinkie Pie. Pinkie sighed,"You thought I was cotton candy didn't you?" "How'd ya know?" "Everyone thinks I look like cotton candy at first." Applejack tried to comfort her,"Aw, don't feel bad, sugarcube. Cotton candy's a good thang, ain't it?" "I like cotton candy," A shy voice piped up,"Oh, I'm so sorry to interrupt you, um, I'll leave now... if you don't mind..." She backed away into a corner. After an uncomfortable silence, Pinkie decided to go after her,"FLUTTERSHY! COME BAAAAACK! WE MISS YOOOOOU!" "Ah think she can hear ya loud an' clear sugarcube." Welcome to Carousel BoutiquePinkie Pie posed and grinned at the paparazzi. This is fun! I’m gonna ask Rarity if we can do this again! Speaking of which, Rarity was off on her left being interviewed by the local reporter. “You!” a German accented voice yelled, “In za pink!” the hand belonging to the voice yanked her aside. “Ooh hi! Who are you?” she asked. The woman who’d called her had a silver bob cut and was wearing a black smock with white and pink stripes. “I am Photo Finish! And I vant you to be a model!” Photo Finish replied. Pinkie was confused, “I’m confuzzled. What does a model do other than stand around and pose? It doesn’t even sound fun!” “Vell my dear, modeling is exactly vhat you’ve just been doing! And it vas very fun, vas it not?” “Of course it was! Why would I be doing it if it weren’t?” was Pinkie’s response. Photo Finish smiled in satisfaction, “You vill meet me here tomorrow at 3pm exact, agreed? Also, vhat is your name?” “Pinkie Pie; P-I-N-K-I-E-space-P-I-E!” “You vill meet me?” “Yes indeedily!” At that moment, Rarity finished her interview and came over, “I’m baaaaack! And who is the delightful guest you are conversing with, Pin-WHAHAHA! Photo Finish?!” “Vhy hello, Rarity,” “P-P-Pinkie Pie, wherever do you know Photo Finish from?” Rarity asked instead. “I just met her now! She ‘vants me to be a model!’” Pinkie said, imitating Photo’s accent perfectly, “Hey, Photo Finish! Where’re you gonna get the outfits for me to wear?” “I vas thinking Miss Rarity here vould have da purrrfect outfit for you to model.” Rarity gasped, “You want me to design clothes for you?!” “Well, actually more for me cause I’m the model and all… But yeah! Photo Finish wants you to make clothes for her!” Pinkie pointed at herself and Rarity to punctuate the point. “I-I-I think I’m going to go get more punch, however, I would love to design an outfit for you.” Rarity replied, still in shock. She started towards the drink table, leaving Pinkie and Photo Finish there chatting. I still can’t believe that happened! Of course she would choose me to design clothes for her since I’m the designer of the century, but Pinkie Pie as her model?! That’s just- I mean, I’ve never thought of Pinkie as a model I pictured her to be more like a-a party animal! Oh well, it already happened. I trust Photo Finish as a photographer and I will accept her choices. Even if they involve Pinkie Pie. Everything will be fine. I hope.

WE MISS YOOOOOU!" "Ah think she can hear ya loud an' clear sugarcube."
Welcome to Carousel BoutiquePinkie Pie posed and grinned at the paparazzi. I hope.
