When Applebloom stumbles upon a small colt in the back of her family's apple orchards, the first thing she does is snap him up from his sleep and yell at him. She didn't notice that he wasn't fighting back until AJ came over and saw what was happening. When she hoofs him an apple and asks him what he's doing on someone else's property, he admits to being a nomad. He asks for a day of shelter in exchange for working with Applebloom, and Applejack begrudgingly accepts. However, when Applebloom gets on his case for being a horrible worker, he breaks apart and cowers.

What is wrong with this colt? Why is he so timid? Why is he so weak? Unfortunately for Applebloom, AJ wants her to make some friends outside of Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle, so she's got no choice but to hang out with him and find out.
