Volume I, Chapter 2: The Fall of a Fortrest
Two-hundred and twenty years ago, The Equestrian forces discovered one of the most precious minerals known to pony kind. We called it coal, a simple black rock packed with simply unlimited amounts of energy.
We done things that we normally couldn't do. We establish trades with zebra, griffin, and even changeling. Precious coal and gems, that were higher than ever, were spreader all across the globe. The coal and gems, themself, brought an age of a self sustaining peace and harmony, or so we thought.
The golden years of coal ended in only twenty years. A Zebra army rose to the south to fetch this valuble black rock, coal, only to run into a "misunderstanding." Borders had spread out, putting a group of two-hundred zebras into Equestrian territory.
Generals understand mistakes, soldiers don't. Classifying this as a declaration of war, an batalian of fifty ponies pushed forward. The zebras thought of this as an attack and rose arms. It only got worst as arrangements change, betrayals were made, and people rised and fall in power. Then came the massacre at Littlehorn Valley, killing thousands of innocent civillians, then we ran out of time.
The war raged on from a misunderstanding to dominationation of coal, and vengence. The death charts of both armies rose to tens of thousands, and eventually the millions.
Celestia, our ruler, fell under pressure and went into hiding, leaving her sister, Luna, in charge of the war. However, even Luna, Princess of The Night, knew the pressure would crack her so she rose leaders in aid. Six individuals, who were titled legends, were given monasteries to control and strengthen.
The six ministeries each had a purpose in the war. They were lead by The Mane Six, other wise as The Wielders of Harmony. They all had a purpose, but one goal they share. To end the war, if only they succeed..
Something used to create peace, turned against us. A modified bomb of healing spells lead to longer fights, and even our demise. It was nothing short of an accident.
Balefire Bombs, the modified healing bombs, devastated each and every piece of soil, with fires like dragons, that the ponies had. The ponies retaliated by, not dropping, but casting the same bombs on the zebras. The Great War raged forth and the population reached its critical end. It all lead to the great finally.
The Zebra remaining forces attacked Canterlot, the capital of Equestria and the last standing city for the ponies. The Zebra Forces, known as The Zebra Empire, showed no mercy as they rained hell upon the city. A shield was set up to defend the city, only to eradicate the city it was to defend.
The Zebra Empire planted there own megaspell, a devastating spell used to destroy any life in its radius. It was called The Pink Cloud. A gas formed in the shield, only to break it and kill both zebra and pony kind. While most were given quick deaths, some had survive only to turn mad with disfigured features and feral instincts. The worst was that some still had a conscious. There were no winners, but there were survivors.
Sisters of The Mane Six, had made crooked plans to keep as many ponies alive as possible. Large underground building, we called STABLES, were built to keep ponies safe from fallout radiation. A pony, before the fallout, would sign a waver to get a chance to get in this sanctuary. It was just a roll of the dice after that.
There was a catch. Each STABLE was ran by a government official. They were appointed to keep the peace, and continue running there experiment. Each STABLE was given a social experiment, which threw ponies into weird and crazy experiments. There were bad, and there were good. Some how my parents rolled a win because i grew up in one of these STABLES.
.
I grew up in STABLE 219. At first I was with my parents. My mom, Soft Serenity, died when I was two. She suffered from a tumor in her brain that grew and grew until it crushed the life out of her. My father, Murky Onyx, was the one I looked up to the most.
He was one of the rare cases of a OverStallion. The OverMare system in our STABLE worked heretitary. The oldest child was the first to be asked if they wanted to be the Over Mare/Stallion. If they decline they went down from oldest to youngest, unless you were younger then eighteen. If all were to decline, the STABLE would vote. Think of it as a monarchy slash democracy. There hasn't been a bad OverMare or Stallion, so we never changed it.
I followed my father's path and planned on joining the STABLE's security forces when I was ten. To train, my dad let me use his 10mm, standard security pistol, with a silencer on it and we'd shoot, what we call Friskers, which are giant cockroaches.
I was tought to know the standards of security protocols from my dad, and the basic school knowledge from my teach. My teachers name was Know-It-All, but his students would call him Knowa. I was the average student compared to the rest of my colleges. I just did what I could to past by.
I think around that time, I finally got my cutie mark. I was given my dad's old 12.7mm pistol for my birthday. I got my cutie-mark in a very unexpected way. I had disassemble the pistol with a multi-tool I had found. I modified it with bigger parts and had made a homemade hoof cannon, which shoots 50 cal. bullets I stole from the armory. Ironically, I busted my mouth by underestimating the recoil, karma is a bitch. My cutie mark was a multi tool with a wooden handle, the tools themselves showed a knife, a screwdriver, (Philips Head if you really care) mini saw, and a flashlight. (Some multi tool, huh.)
I grew up with a smile constantly on my face, till I was sixteen. My father was gunned down by a fellow security officer. The story was that the officer's buddy was arrested for stealing provisions, but no one really knows. I just know I had lost my best friend.
I was the first and last to leave for his funeral. Funny, when I was a boy I'd always thought the Overseer, STABLE's security, would keep me safe. I really didn't have much from him besides the photo with me, my mom, and my dad in it. Serenity was black with white patches all over her body, she also had a silver mane and tail. Murky was solid brown, with navy blue mane and tail. The picture itself was I was born, my mom was still on the bed.
Don't got any family after that. If you got no one to look after you, and your not twenty-one, your an orphane. I was never noticed, didn't want to be. I never believed in having a step-dad or step-mom. I grew up not wanting to know anyone. I wasn't an orphan anymore when I got to twenty-one, that was the age of being classified as an adult.
It was around that time I found my dad's hamradio. I fooled around with it, then one day I got a response. A mare by the name of Homage was talking back to me. She was, what my STABLE called, a surface dweller. It was un-believable I know, but we had friendly relationship. She told me about the surface and I told her about the STABLE. I actually wanted to visit the surface, and I asked if it was safe. She said it was better than ever, but it was dangerous for any pony from the STABLE.
I lost contact with her after about a month of talking. One day we lost connection and we haven't made contact with each other since. I always wondered if it was some mare here pulling me, but I never put thought into it. I should have if I saw my future.
I joined security forces, as I always wanted to. I rose high up in my class, and gratuated at 23. I was one of the top officers in the STABLE, and gladly accepted any position, and they knew it. I was assigned to watch the cameras in the STABLE.
You'd think "camera boy" would be boring, but there is a camera right outside the STABLE. Recentlly these weird looking monsters were always at the STABLE door. The cameras didn't show color, just black and white, but they were bigger then the ponies in here. They were hairless, massive, and covered in muscles. They never caused harm, but they were constantly attacking the STABLE door with these large hammers that had a firehigrent on the ends of them. I didn't know what to call them so I called them what I had thought they were, ogres.
Every day I would just be sitting at the cameras and watch both blank cameras and the ogre one. It never got any better then this. I felt so plain yet miserable at the same time. I still always wondered what the outside would be like, until that day that would always find its way when ever I closed my eyes.
.
I was in my bed, just now waking up. I saw darkness as opened my eyes. It was like I never opened my eyes at all.
I sat up and said, "lights on."
A bright, yellow tint, light pored out of the ceiling. Lights, built in the ceiling, covered my entire room like a blanket. I was sitting on a white bed with a yellow blanket and white pillows. My room was made of grey walls and brown dressers. Everything in that room was brown or grey.
I got up, and trotted to my dresser. I pulled a blue and yellow STABLE jumpsuit. It was standard clothing for the STABLE. What sepperated my jumpsuit from the rest was a bullet, and stab, proof kevlar vest, with sewn in knee guards and a satchel for holding 10mm clips.
I made my way to my desk, and picked up my equipment. I grabbed my 10mm pistol and my modified 12.7mm pistol, technically a 50cal. pistol. I grabbed 4 clips for my 10mm pistol, but I got none for the 50cal. I always carry my 50cal. as a memorial.
I looked up to see, a unicorn, stallion with blue fur, an orange mane, and tail, looking back at me. I was looking myself in the mirror with a blank stare. I sighed and looked away.
I was about to put on my badge, when a knock at the door took my attention. I made my way, and pushed a button on the side of the door. The door pulled apart, from the center, and opened up to a stallion by the name of Bring Bright. He had teal green fur and florescent green mane and tail. His mane was notably spiked up to create a rocker look. He was also wearing the same outfit as I was wearing.
"Hey," Bright greeted.
"Sup," I replied.
"The ceiling, you ready to go?" he asked, referring to work.
"Yap, let's go," I said.
We walked down several hallways and made our way to work. We were mainly silent, as we both know that nothing had happened. Bright was a good pony, but I didn't really care about him that much about him, I sometimes considered that he knew that.
"How's it been?" asked bright.
"Boring, and you?" I asked back.
"Nothing but spending time with my girl," he said, "she's always on my mind."
"I know, the only bad thing is you can't stop talking about her," I replied.
"Can you blame a stallion, she's so loving and caring and...even has a great ass, if I do say so myself," said Bright.
"Well I can blame a stallion, and now I got the image of an asshole in my mind, so thanks," I replied.
"Aww, come on, you know and I know that you once had a little crush on her," he said, correctly.
"If I did, I wouldn't want to get on her bad side," I said.
"Shit, I know that, last week she denied her gates for a month, its killing me," he said, way to loudly.
"I know, if I actually do it, its gonna be my fiance or my wife," I replied.
"Yeah, you told me about that, but as far as I know you don't really like any one here," he said.
"Eh, new girls will come into my life," I said.
"Like what, an eight year old?" He asked, jokely.
"Hahaha, no... definetly nothing like that," I replied.
We made it to my room with the cameras. I unlocked with a security card. I was about to walk in, when a firm hoof on my shoulder turned me around.
"Hey, I'm gonna be patrolling the halls, if you need me use the radio," he said, referring to my radio velcroed on my chest.
"Will do, be safe," I said.
He nodded and took off.
I went into the camera room and sat in my chair. I viewed each of the cameras and saw nothing but ponies trotting down the halls. The cameras were set up to be viewed on televisions and were each labeled by the hallway the camera was in, except the outside one which wasn't labeled.
I saw the ogres at the door again, with there make-shift hammers. I looked down at my pip-buck and saw 4:34 on it. It took the ogres an hour to show up when I beginned.
Before I go on with the story I need to explain stuff. At the beginning I told you that each STABLE had an experiment run in it. STABLE 219's experiment was a good one. The ponies here were given higher upgraded tech then most STABLES. I really don't know what the other stables, let alone how many there are, experiments were, but this was ours.
For instance, most STABLEs got the PIP-BUCK 3000, an old model that was designed to last longer than any other type. We got the next line, PIP-BUCK 4000. It was designed with faster load times, a more accurate S.A.T.S, more space for memories, and built health moniter. As far as I know there were 9 lines of the pip-buck. The higher the first number, the more advance it got. The zeros were used to detail want type of design it was, like the billion was silver and gold painted or the trillion was diamond studded. I only saw the 4000 model but heard of these other designs on our terminals.
One more thing, I also mentioned S.A.T.S, STABLE Artificial Targeting System. This program was used in more for better accuracy for soldiers. The 4000 model comes with built in adrenaline glands, which hitens brain waves and actually slows down time. I always find it impressive of the knowledge of pony kind.
Now, I think it was about an hour later and nothing really did change. Ponies walked down the halls, and the monsters were still beating at our door. I actually did tell other security faculty but they gave no mind when nothing happened but thumps at the door.
Then, something changed. These weird lined were racing across the outside camera and hitting the ogres. One turned around and looked at something from afar. His back was at the camera and it was covered in what looked like burn marks. There were four in total, and one vanished off screen to chase after where the lines were coming from. Then two more ogres stopped and vanished. The lasted one stopped then suddenly fell down to the ground, he didn't move for the rest of the time.
Several ponies poured into the cave that was our door. There were two groups that seperated from from there outfits. One was dressed in poorly made clothing and were filthy looking, the other was completely covered in suits of pure metal and were cleaner then the scruffy ones.
A larger one of the bunch was carrying something massive, which was supported by a battle saddle, which is something used to carry heavy objects or weapons that couldn't be held at by the mouth or levitated with telekinesis. A pony right next to him levitated something round and fed it to the device of the other pony. The pony, with the device looked at the camera then at the door. The round ball shot launched out fast at the door, then blue rippling lights blinded the camera, and the entire STABLE shook.
The STABLE shook very hard and eventually the lights went off. It took a a couple seconds but back up lights kicked in for the first time. The stable shook again but harder.
A voice, that was obviously the over-mare's, boomed from the intercoms, "NOW HEAR THIS, THE STABLE IS UNDER ATTACK, ALL AVAILABLE SECURITY FORCES MAKE YOUR WAY TO THE STABLE ENTRANCE, THIS IS NOT A DRILL, I-"
The voice suddenly stopped with a sharp noise of static and another hard shake.
I quickly sprung out of my seat, and made my way to the entrance. My mind could only race as I made my way. Security forces were already making there way down, I looked at there faces to see a look very rare in a STABLE. Fear, and was scared to.
I got to the door, it was about a twenty foot door shaped like a cog with the imprint of 219 on it. It had a large dent that was going inward to the vault. It was a sign of doom at our door step.
Several loud thuds hit the door, then silence. A loud explosion engolfed the entrance and knocked back several ponies that were standing guard, including me. I was on the ground with a constant ringing in my ears. I actually thought I was going deaf.
I saw one of my fellow pony companions, stood up, shoot back into the trail of smoke. Its response was several of the scruffy ponies jumping out of the smoke a retaliating with a hail of bullets. Blood and guts strew across my face as a fellow security faculty was gunned down.
One of the metal ponies came out of the smoke. He walked awhile, then stopped and looked at me. He was saying something but I couldn't hear it. A scruffy pony approached me then pointed me with his hoof. The metal pony nodded to what ever the scruffy said.
The scruffy pony approached up to me with some kind of shotgun drawed. He raised his gun high in the air and was saying something, but I still couldn't hear. He raised the gun higher then brought it down. It all went dark after that
.
I felt a bump, and I got jarred awake. I could see but I couldn't move. I couldn't feel anything but my heavy, droopy eyes. It felt like a dream, but why do I feel awake?
I couldn't see well in the dark, but I could make it out. I saw wooden sticks entwine with each other. Beyond that was a black metal wall, that had a slit up top that viewed outside, wherever outside is. I saw something brown curled up, but I couldn't tell what it was.
The thing that caught me the most was that, I didn't see STABLE walls. I saw a mix of green and blue, with white puffy things in the air, was that the sky? I saw rocky points that stuck out all around, mountains? I saw all this, yet there was no sun.
The feeling of moving stopped. I heard muffling voices coming from the right, then to the right. A bright light pierced my vision. I only saw white, that ended in a few seconds. Then a voice spoke to me.
"Well, well, well, look who's the first to wake up," said a scratchy voice.
My wold turn as I fell to my side. My sight turned from a metal wall, to what I saw out of the slit. My head turned up to see more of the sticks. The sticks made a full square around me, I was in a cage.
"Let's wake the other one up," said a gravely voice.
I heard a crashing noise on the dirt. Then, the sound of water crashing down. I heard the sound of muffles. I could only pray for the other pony I was with.
I quickly began to feel my mouth.I moved it side to side, trying to get all the numbness out. My mind ,opened up to hat was really happening. I was quickly consumed by fear. My mind raced, I couldn't think clearly. Then, I did probably one of the dumbest thing I've ever done, I screamed for help.
"Aaaahhhh, help me, please!" I pleaded with no pony.
"Shhhhh, oh no, we can't have you doing that," said the gravely voice.
"Any pony, if you can hear me, please!" I continued to scream.
"Wwwech," said the scratchy voice, imitating a cutting noise.
I heard hoof steps coming towards me. I heard the soft noise of the cell door open up. I was dragged out and onto the dirt. If I kept my mouth shut.
I saw four hooves, indicating that a pony was standing over me. One of the pony's hooves raised, then dropped down. I moved my eyes up to see the pony with a bat. He raised it up.
"No, no, n-n-o-"
*THUD*
This, was the surface. I heard it was bad nothing like this. I knew this would be my life, that day. I didn't want it to end like this. What ever they plan to do, whether a slave or something worse, I didn't want to end like this. Thank celestia I was given a second chance.
.
I woke up, to only feel like I haven't woken up. Where ever I was was pitch black, with the smell of something burning, yet rotting at the same time. I was laying on something cold and hard, so I did the natural and stood up. My mane brushed against something over head, saving me from getting a head ache. It was still dark even a few feet off the ground.
Try as I must it was hard to see past my hooves, so I looked at my hooves. The security armor I was wearing is gone, along with my 10mm pistol. I had a small bag on me, since this morning if it is the same day, and I opened open to find nothing. A friend of mine sewn a hidden pouch in my bag so I can always carry my 50cal. and it still remains.
I tried to make a small light from my horn, but to no luck. I felt something metallic wrapped around the base, but I didn't in what it was. Then, I remembered my PipBuck
I held in my PipBuck light. A bright blue light poured into the darkness. Then I saw my horrifying surroundings.
I was in a cage, this time in a metal one, that I could barely fit in. Beyond the bars i saw a pony's head, mangled, and sticking on rusty, bent pipe pertruding out of the wooden floorboard. The head had no fur, its eyes had been ripped out of other socket, and the jaw, along with all its teeth, had been ripped off . Feces and blood covered the floor, along side mangled body parts.
I couldn't control myself. I found myself breathing erratically. I composed myself. I breathed in and out, in and out, repeat. I looked back in the darkness
The only thing I saw was something shimmering from my PipBuck lamp. I couldn't tell what it was, but it was metallic. It was past the head, so it was out of reach.
I looked around in my cage, to find anything useful. I found some rope that looked familiar, I was trying to remember if it was in my STABLE. I remembered that my PipBuck came with a scanner for unknown items and item and computer data.
I held in the button on the top right. A small slit raised up and showed a dim blue light. It waved up and down on the rope in the cage. A soft ping noise went off, meaning the scanning was done.
Auto-Analyze Confirmed, Item Misc: The item is known as hemp rope. A weak rope, yet sturdy enough, used to make types of jewelry during and before The Great War. It was made of the Cannabis plant, found in the warmer tropical areas of the zebra mainland. Before the war, it was given a lot of controversity as the same plant used for the rope was also used for marijuana, or in Equestra slang "Pixie Powder."
So, I was "cuffed" with jewelry rope. I guess they ran out of the real thing by pulling old "jackal lantern" on the pipe. Yeah, that makes sense.
"Wow, I've never seen a PipBuck do that before."
I hit the opposite side of my cage, with my back, from the direction of the voice. It sounded feminine, sweet, and gentle, almost like my mothers voice. I put my PipBuck against the cage to the direction of the voice. I could only see bars to, what looks like, another cage.
"Oh, sorry, here let *grunts* me get closer," said the voice.
A small, bright yellow nose poked between the bars. Behind that, a pair of soft, brown eyes looked at me. A head then showed out of the dark. A mare with yellow fur and a brown mane, with a black strip running from the top to the bottom, that rose up then goes down and ends with a curl.
"Did I scare you?" The mare asked.
"A little, yeah," I admitted.
"Sorry, guess its been awhile since I've seen another pony, that at least hasn't try to kill me," she said.
"What do you mean by kill?" I asked.
"What?" She replied, like she didn't hear me.
"I'm not sure what's going on, where am I?" I asked.
"Oh, your new here aren't you?" She asked.
"I don't think I understand the question," I replied.
"Just as I thought, you just came out of a STABLE. Were you cracked, or just came out of your own free will?" She asked.
"What do you mean?" I replied.
"Tell me, how did you get here?" She asked.
"I was... Me and many other ponies in our vault were just gunned down by these ponies. They came... from the surface," I replied.
"So you were cracked open, and by the looks of it you already hit rock bottom. Enjoy the rest of your life in Equestria," she said.
"So where am I, or were are we?" I asked.
"We're in a warzone, and on the wrong side. We're in a raider camp in the northern part of PonyVille."
My heart sank. Homage, she... told me of there way. There disease, there ways, and there thrill and kicks. They were pony's who would torture, rape, and murder, all while they get high, or drunk, to take care of this disease of there's. Who would live like this. I wouldn't believe the mare if it weren't for the room we're in.
"Aww, don't be sad," she said, I guess my emotions broke outside.
"Why, if we are in a raider camp then there's no hope," I replied.
"Yet I thought this is your first time outside, how do you know what a raider is with out me telling you first?" she asked, with a smirk on her face.
She was right. If it weren't for Homage I might never had known what a raider was till now. I didn't know what really what to tell her. Then thought, why shouldn't I tell her.
"[SPEECH 25] Sorry, my dad had this modified ham radio. I met another mare that claimed she was from the surface. I guess technically, she was sorta like my spy on the surface, except I've never met her other than the radio," I replied.
"Its alright, nothing to apologize for, but you do know that's a hard pill to swallow, right?" she asked.
"It is, but its the truth, I'm just sorry I left you in the dark,"
"Aww, its alright, want to know why?" She asked me.
"Why?" I replied.
"Because we're getting out of here," she stated, as she lifted my heart up.
"Really, How!?" I asked, a little to loudly.
"Don't know, haven't made it that far," she said, lowering my heart down again, "I'll probably just sleep on it."
"Sleep on it?" I asked.
"Yeah, you know *SNORE* *WHISTLE* *SNORE* *WHISTLE*," she said, making the noises at the end.
I look around my cage. I didn't see any beds, let alone something to lay on. I couldn't see in the mare's cage so I don't know about her.
"How are we suppose to sleep, there's no beds?" I asked.
"Um, the floor," she responded, saying it as if I was a complete idiot.
I looked at my cage floor. The floor was littered in shit, blood, and other weird things of gunk. How could someone live like this, its
in-pony.
"Aww, no, I ain't sleeping on the floor," I said, a little to loudly.
"Well, unless you have a buddy on rescue or you know how to sleep stand, you don't got much of a choice," she replied.
I sighed.
I made an effort to put all the "goodies" out of the cage. It was disqusting, especially touching it with my hooves. I got it as clean as possible, then sat down.
I looked into the direction that the made was at, but she was gone. I assumed she moved out of sight in her cage. I sat in my cage for half an hour. Then, I saw her cute head again.
"Can't sleep?" she asked.
"How can I sleep," I started, " I'm locked in a cage, covered in someone's 'pudding', I have no idea were I'm at, and my vault is probably a hole in the ground. I don't want to be here in this hell hole, I WANT TO BE HOME! Home?........ as much air know it is gone.
"I'm sorry. I didnt mean to yell. Just one of 'those' days I guess."
"Because, you've had days were your vault life is over," she said.
I snickered at her comment.
"See, theres a smile I'm looking for," she said, "hey" -she cumsly pushed her left hoof through the bars- "Spectacular Marvel."
"What?" I asked, unsure what she said.
"Its my name silly, Spectacular Marvel. Though, most people just call me Spec," she claimed.
"Ah, that's a nice name, but why do people call you specs?" I asked.
"Well I use to wear glasses, but dropped and switched to contacts in my vault. Yet they fell out cause I sneaked in here to find food. Now, everything is a big blur and my uncle has my glasse," she said, also taking care of me asking her if she can see.
"But, where's your uncle?" I asked.
"He's at a setlement, up north, called Junction Town," she said," so what's your name?" She asked.
"My name is Shine Sky," I replied.
"Really? Sounds like a name a pegasus would have," she stated.
"My mom thought it made me sound like a stallion of freedom," I marked.
"Aww, that sounds adorable," she replied.
"Um, thanks," I replied.
"You should get some sleep though, its like two in the morning," she recommended.
"Jeez," I replied, "how long have I been here?" I asked.
"About a hoof full of hours," she answered.
I heard banging in the dark, followed by some pony's whispery voice. I saw something flew out the dark and hit my cage, it shattered on impact with no way of telling what it was. I saw a small light, that showed a silhouette of a pony.
The shadowy figure raised his voice and said, " its not even morning and you guys are still awake. I know your happy to be here, but for Luna's sake, SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP!"
The shadow went away and the light went out. I gathered up my "courage" from the floor and tried to relax again, no matter how impossible it was. I looked at Specs who gave me a shocked expression.
"Are you okay?" she asked.
"I'm fine...just...shooken up is all," I replied.
"Well how is it?" she asked.
"How what is?" I replied.
"Your new life."

Chapter 1: The Past of A Stallion and The Journey It Begins
"Daddy, when is mommy coming home?" Asked Midnight Banshee. I always hated that question.
"She's just....taking her time." I said in a nervous voice.
"Why?" Asked Midnight.
"Well she's just..." -i smiled on how rediculse I sounded- "really taking her time," I replied.
I kneeled my head down over the plate in front of me. It was loaded with four individual piles of food. There was roasted radroach meat, diced bloated-perisprite, roasted manicore meat, (3 meats on one plate equals a slight chance of cholesterol problems) and cinnamon apples that came out of a pre-war can.
Midnight had all the goodies. Pre-war carrots, punga fruit, a bottle of sparkle cola, and a mirelurk cake-there were always her favorite.
She looked back and forth between her plate and my gun on the table. I really didn't want to talk to her about why its on the table. I didn't want her anxiety to get the better of her.
We finished off our plates and I levitated the gun off the table. It was a 12ga. (slugged) semi-auto shotgun, with a red dot sight. I hovered the gun in the air along the right side of my head. I trotted next to the front door and looked outside from the window. Midnight then starting looking out. I put my left hoof against her chest and pushed her away.
"Dad, what's going on?" asked Midnight.
"Its nothing honey, go on up to bed," I replied
"Dad, I'm not a little filly anymore, I can help," said Midnight.
"Alright," I began, "daddy has made a.....very bad deal with bad people"- I levitated my 9mm pistol out and let Midnight levitate it- " I need you to take this pistol and hide were not even I can find you. OK."
"OK...... please, be safe," Midnight finished.
Midnight hurried up the stairs, with the satisfying crash of a door slamming.
I looked back outside.....waiting. For something, anything, to happen. What have I done by scaring my baby foal. I didn't want this to happen but it did. This time I've gone to far. Even I won't survive this, but Midnight deserves to live, even the world beyond these thin walls of metal, concrete, and the endless color of torch li-
*KNOCK,KNOCK,KNOCK* ... *CREEK*
"Ah, Mr. Moc *DEEP BREATHE IN*...you got a death wish?" asked a grey pony with a yellow mane and tail, mixed with green spray paint to add streaks in his mane.
"Not at the moment," I replied, levitating my shotgun vertical to the side of the door, to keep it out of sight.
"That's not what I heard," he replied back.
A group of deranged looking ponies jumped from the shadows, hired guns most likely (or worst raiders.)
"I'm pretty sure me and you were both told different things." I added.
"Again, not what I heard," he replied again.
"How much, to just make this slide," I said, levitating a bag of caps in them.
"I'd say about every ounce of blood on your body," he said (I feared the worst,) " now how about you step out, and I won't touch a hair on that pretty little pony of yours in there."
"Haha, what a lie," I replied.
I levitated my shotgun right into view, and wrapped my levitation spell around the trigger. *BANG* The grey pony's head showered across his allies face and chest. The "sticky stuff" could only be described by two words. Beef Stew.
I dove back into the house and slammed the door. As soon as I did, a barrage of loud noises and the tearing of metal and wood. They were unloading there guns at me. I ran to my table and flipped it over to its side. I took cover behind my new best friend in this battle.
A loud shredding of wood came from the door. A large hole then appeared at where my top part of my door was. A solid black pony with makeshift cloth and leather armor took it place. He was holding a shorty shotgun in his mouth. He bent down and dropped it on my porch and lean his head in the hole, and wrapped his mouth around the the door knob.
The door flew open with a another one of those raggidy armor ponies leading the way. He was grey and was holding a bat in his mouth. I raised up and fired a shell in his chest. A fresh hole opened in his right shoulder, and freshly painted the wall behind him.
More of the ponies came out of my once whole door way. There were more than I can count. A red pony started charging from my left. I opened another shell into him. Three of the ponies started charging out of the door. I unleashed two shells, turning all ponies into entrails and mystery meat.
More piled in, and in, and in. I was running low on the endless amount of ponies that flowed out of the door. I pressed the trigger on the shotgun to hear a click. A pony with an SMG grinned at the click of my gun. I launched the gun at him and he dashed back. I quickly drew a knife and launched at the maniac at my door.
A constant ringing rang through my house, as flashes of white light spewed out of the pony's SMG that was hit by my gun. I felt nothing at first as I quickly drift into unconscious, then I felt the stings of twenty bullets lodged into my body. I went out my door, and started rolling down the front of my house. The last thing I saw before blackness was a massive pony, with the same crude armor on as his brethren, standing over me.
I felt the warmth of light showering over my face and body. I was filled with holes and riddled in pain. I reached into my pocket, surprised, and arched a health potion. My body began nummimg as a drank the potion. Bullets began pushing out of the holes scattered in me. Then all the pain went away as the last bullet hole sealed up.
I swear I felt death touch me. Pain swelled all around me, yet I never thought why I survived. I knew something wrong had happened, but not for me. Then, I saw light twinkle in the corner of my eyes.
I looked at the light and focused on it. I saw th....that it was my house. I ran towards it in fear that my baby girl was still in there. I was touched by the flames that ate my house. The pain was unbearable and unspeakable. I couldn't get in without dying for a possibility that my young made was....actually...still in there.
I called for her name, over, and over, and over. I wanted to see her face, her mane, the way she reminded me of her mother. Yet all I saw was, what could of been, ashes of her.
I saw a note on the floor. It was something I haven't seen for a long time, pencil and paper. I hovered in front of me and began to read it. It read:
So how long ago has it been, since we last spoke?
I felt it was a life time, since i got this scar.
Let us see how much you daughter fairs against the burns.
Better hurry up, clocks ticking
Tic toc tic toc.
I yelled as loud as I could with no end in sight of my anger. I need...to kill...something, anything. I only saw vengeance that blinded me into darkness that told myself to stay away. I need this to go away, yet my heart ached for it to end, not vengeance but life itself.
"*sniff* don't worry baby... daddy's going to see you soon."
.
To think this isn't me. I'm not him but that was the first memory that came to me as I see light for the first time in over two years. I felt both warm and scared at the same time, as a pair of hooves and a something scaly wrapped around me and helped me onto my hooves.
I then saw before me friends and heroes who surrounded me in happiness, friendship, and love. It was hard to remember how I got here, but all my memories began flowing back into me like the clop of hooves.
Yet, I'm getting ahead of myself, am I? The ponies around me began telling me how I got here. The talk individualy yet combined into one story. However, let me start at the beginning, my story.
