The hardest part is letting go... so I won't
"Yes, dad I'll be fine." said an eager mare, ready for her big move.
"Are you sure you packed all of your hair bands?"
"Yes dad." Scarlet Waltz replied, very annoyed.
"And you packed your manebrush?"
"Yes."
"And your-"
"Yes dad! I double checked and checked again. I have everything I need. I'll be fine. If I forgot my manebrush, I could just buy a new one anyways."
"Oh, I know honey, I'm just so worried about you. This is your first time living by yourself."
"You know I'm not living by my self. I'm moving in with a friend of mine for a little bit. Plus, Firecracker's going to come visit you later this month so you won't be alone with just mom."
"Just be careful, manehattan is a big city. It's easy to get lost or have trouble finding a job."
"Dad. I'll be fine. Don't worry about me, okay?" Scarlet Waltz said nuzzling her father.
"Okay. So are you all set?"
"Yep, I'm just waiting for my cab driver to arrive." As she finished her sentence, a cab could be hear coming to a halt.
"Ah there it is!" Scarlet Waltz announced.
"Oh, I'm gonna to miss you so much sugar."
"I'm gonna miss you a lot too dad." Scarlet said, heading out the door.
"Do come visit soon!" Scarlet's dad yelled, shedding a tear as he and his wife waved goodbye to Scarlet Waltz.
"Bye!" Scarlet Waltz yelled back.
-Arrival at Manehattan-
"I made it!" Scarlet trotted away from the pegasi that flew her here. She was so excited. She had made her dream come true; she made it to the big city!
Scarlet walked down the sidewalk as she was sight seeing. She was looking at the magnificent clothes and jewelry in the window of shops. Not paying attention to anything going on in front of her hooves, she clumsily bumped into somepony.
"Hey! Watch where ya' goin' lady!"
"Oh, I'm so sorry. Let me get that for you." Scarlet said embarrassed. Scarlet let go of her suitcase to pick up the stallion's newspaper. As she let go, the suitcase began rolling down the sidewalk, getting in the way of passersby. Scarlet quickly handed the pony his newspaper, chasing after her suitcase. After a few minutes of rolling down the sidewalk, the suitcase finally landed in a puddle on the side of the road.
"Oh no!" Scarlet sighed, picking up her soaking wet suitcase.
"I hope everything isn't wet." Scarlet unzipped the suitcase, crossing her hooves that nothing was damaged.
"Oh thank god." To Scarlet's relief, nothing was damaged. She let out a big sigh of relief.
'Great. My first hour in Manehattan and already something's gone wrong.' thought Scarlet.
Over head, a handsome, young stallion saw a mare sitting on the edge of the sidewalk. He swooped down to see what was the matter.
"Everything okay over her ma'am?"
"Oh yes, everything's fine, thank you."
"Are ya' new here? I see you have a suitcase there. This your first time in the big apple?"
"Was it that obvious? Yeah, I just got here and I'm heading to my new roommate's house now."
"Well, it looks like you're havin' a pretty crummy day so far. Would ya' let me buy ya' a coffee?"
"Oh no si-"
"No no, I insist. It's the least I can do for a Manehattan newby like yourself."
"Oh thank you, that's very kind of you than."
-Coffee shop-
"So where'd ya' move in from?"
"Just a little town next to Ponyville. I just moved out from my parent's place."
"You just moved out? May I ask how old yo- How rude of me. I asked about your age before your name. May I ask what your name is?"
"My name? It's Scarlet Waltz."
"What a pretty name. it has that je ne sai qua." Scarlet Waltz began blushing. "My names Romantic Hue."
"Romantic Hue. Nice to meet you. Well, I should get going now. I have to meet up with my roommate or she's gonna start getting worried. Thanks so much for the coffee though. I feel so much better already!" Smiled Scarlet as she left. And in a flash, she was gone. All Romantic Hue could do was wonder about Scarlet Waltz as he sipped his coffee.
Scarlet Waltz happily trotted down the sidewalk, looking for the correct apartment building she'd be staying in.
"Ah! Here is it! 246." Scarlet entered, being greeted by a chubby pony at the entrance.
"Can I help you?" he asked sounding annoying
"Um yes, I'm looking for Crowned Velvet."
"She's in room 24."
"Okay, thank you very much."
"Yeah yeah, whateva' kid." the pony said going back to sleep.
-Room 24-
Scarlet was waiting eagerly at the front door of Crowned Velvet's door.
"Just a moment dear!" Scarlet could hear coming from the other side of the door. Eventually the door opened to a pretty, mare with a towel over her hair.
"I apologize for taking so long. I was in the middle of a shower. So how may I he- Oh Scarlet, darling! You finally made it!"
"Yes, I'm running a bit late because of a new friend I made along the way."
"Well, I'm glad you finally made it. So tell me how was your trip?"
"It was fine. I have to say though, I already so sad about being away from my parents."
"Oh pish-posh. You can visit them anytime. It's not everyday you get the opportunity to live in Manehattan."
"Yes, i'm very grateful that you let me stay with you until I get on my own 4 hooves."
"Not a problem at all."
