C.3: With Her Wishcraft
Previous ChapterWhen I woke up, I was in a small meadow.
I looked around, and figured I was far from home. And there were no kidnappers in sight. Also, I felt funny, so I looked down. Two dark blue hooves instead of hands, which meant... I... have hooves. Hooves. Hm. HOOVES YES I HAVE HOOVES I AM PONY YES YES YES YES YESYESYESYESYESYES, I thought-yelled (if such a thing is possible) while jumping up and down and then falling flat on my face. Oh, well, I’m sure I’ll get used to it. But first, I figured out that I was my OC in progress. It made sense that I was a full-grown mare if I was my OC. Wait, no, it didn't. Whaaaat? I was just confusing myself. Whatever. There were more important things to handle. I tried to walk, but I tripped and fell after every third or fourth step. Maybe I could've scooted like Sweetie Belle! Or not. Ugh, carpetburn. I had to walk like a normal, civilized, talking, multicolored pony.
Each step required me to think. Left front and right back, right front and left back, left front and right back… it was hard! After a while I got used to it enough that I could walk at about normal speed, not tripping as much. I decided to find the nearest pony and ask him or her for directions. I’d probably want to visit Ponyville first. But then, I had no bits. I wouldn’t survive. I’d be a homeless pony. Great. But either way, I’d be homeless.
I spotted a path within about 20 minutes of walking. I can’t tell how long it really was; for all I know, it was actually five minutes and walking made it seem so much longer. It didn’t matter; either way, I’d found a path, which meant ponies, which meant Ponyville. So I turned and started walking, and of all ponies, I met Lyra. She didn’t have a hat on, which meant she wasn’t from that apple place; she didn’t seem all fancy, so she wasn’t a Canterlot mare, which left Fillydelphia, Manehattan, Las Pegasus, Ponyville, and probably ten billion cities and towns I was missing. Greeeaaaat. I didn't know where I was going.
“Hi! I’ve never seen you around before, and me and my friends travel all over Equestria,” she said. ” I’ve met a lot of ponies, but not as many as my friend Pinkie Pie. What’s your name?”
“Shadow Song,” I said, because that’s what I’d named this OC. “You’re Lyra, right?”
“Yup! How’d you know that?”
“Well, I’ve heard of you. Um, you said you travel with your friends, where are they?"
"Oh, I've just visiting my twin sister in Fillydelphia. My friends can never tell which one of us is which."
"I see. Now, important question. What has not much hair, hands and--?”
When she gasped, I noticed she did it quite like Pinkie in Season 1, Episode 1. “You know what humans are? How did you know? Do you know if they really exist? Do you know about this because of me?” I think she said something like that, but she was talking really fast and also I was trying to process what she was saying as she was saying more stuff.
“Whoa, slow down. One question at a time.Yes, I know what humans are. But first, I got lost. Where does this path go?”
“In the direction you’re going, it leads to Fillydelphia. In the direction I’m going, it leads to the train station, and I'm going to Ponyville.. I’ve been visiting my twin sister in Fillydelphia.”
“Oh! Well, I wanted to get to Ponyville. Mind if I come with you?”
“Not at all! Especially since you know about humans.”
“Great!"
We walked for a long time, chatting and laughing. When I asked her if I could stay at her place, she was a bit reluctant but soon enough said fine, but she'd have to check if Bon Bon was okay with it.
A while later, we reached the train station, and she paid for me. I told her I'd pay her back when I had the bits.
When we reached her house, it was getting dark. I realized I needed a job, because I'd have to pay her back and get food, so I asked Lyra where Octavia lived, because, well, my cutie mark was a few music notes.
"Oh, just turn left at that tree library thing. She lives in the third house on the right. But first, you should get some sleep. For now, I want you to meet Bon Bon. Bon Bon! I met somepony new who wants to stay with us. Come and meet her; I'm going to go to bed. It's getting late," Lyra yawned.
The yellow pony with a navy blue and light pink mane and blue eyes came down the stairs.
"Hi, I'm Bon Bon, as Lyra's probably already told you," she said. " I run the candy shop across the street. And you are?"
"Shadow Song. Nice to meet you. I'm going to stay in Ponyville for a while, depending on my schedule, and Lyra says I can stay here if it's all right with you," I said. "I don't have a job yet, but I'm looking for one. As you can see, my special talent is music; I sing and play the Fre-, ah, Prench horn. I'm going to Octavia's tomorrow."
"Sure, you can stay here. It's getting kinda late; chat in the morning?"
"Sure. Where will I sleep?"
"You can sleep on my bed. Upstairs, to the right."
"Wait, what?"
"I'm not going to sleep there, silly! I'm going to sleep on that couch over there!"
"Oh. OK, good night!"
"Night."
