What They Sayby Pyra_mayChaptersPrologue2- The city within the moon's crater3 - Cunning and clever spirits1 - When The Stars Speak Softly4 - the silent moonPrologue"There can only be ONE Princess in Equestria! And that princess," I reared up and crushed the balcony,"WILL BE ME!" The stained glass window broke inwards, I raised my hooves and used my magic to raise the moon, I raised it enough to cover the sun, creating the solar eclipse. The darkness swallowed me up. I felt a great power rush through my body as I was engulfed in darkness. I was changing. The dark left me and I let out a laugh, I had the strength to defeat her now. I glared at her. It was time for me to make a move. I used an attack spell and hit the ceiling, causing the roof to cave in. She was still far from the falling pieces of what once was the ceiling. Celestia looked at the ground and frowned at me. I unfurled my wings and walked towards her. She flew up, in an instant, I attacked her. she quickly evaded my attack, of which blew another hole through the ceiling, revealing the moon. Celestia landed back on the ground, She stared at me as I stared back. She folded her wings as she began to speak. "Luna. I will not fight you. You must lower the moon. It is your duty!" I was filled with anger. "Luna? I am Nightmare Moon!" I replied back to Celestia. "I have but one royal duty now," I reared back to attack, "To destroy you!" Celestia flew out of the way and fled to the sky. "And where do you think you're going?" I called out as I began pursuit. Celestia circled the castle as she evaded all my attacks. I missed all but one. She screamed in pain as she fell back into the throne room. I laughed as she fell. I began to circle the Castle, I waited in front of the moon as I saw Celestia get up. She mumbled to herself as she opened the chamber that held the Elements of Harmony. She flew up as she held them with her magic. one by one, she picked them off, then the last, the element of Magic. She flew up to level with me. the light radiated from her as she began to cry. I readied my own attack. I was no match for the Elements. That fateful night, I was banished to the moon. 2- The city within the moon's crater"There must be many of them!" I began running around clueless to where to search. "Why are you so eager to find them, Princess?" A star said. "Search in the moon's largest crater to find the spirits." I used my wings to fly to the south of the moon, I knew it would be there, I always studied the moon when I couldn't get to it. Now I'm on it, I don't want to be. The crater was big enough to fit half a mountain range. I circled the crater wall before I landed near the edge. Sure, Search the crater for the spirits, That will be so easy. I thought to myself sarcastically. I trotted around the rim of the crater wall, it was until I stepped on a large rock, flat on the ground, it fell in, like a button on the floor of the castle used for intruders. In a split second I fell through the moon's surface. I didn't fall for long, I knew that when I hit the ground with a 'thud' I opened my eyes to find myself in a cave, There was no way to go back the way I got in, only to go forward, so I did. The cave grew brighter as I walked further in. I walked right into the light, it was an underground city of spirits, these were spirits of animals who were mostly nocturnal. I walked into the city, hoping I wouldn't draw attention. All was well until a red fox spirit spotted me and shouted, "The Princess Of the Night, She is here!" and instantly bowed down, all the other spirits bowed down as well. "How do you know who we are?" I said in the royal Canterlot voice. "You are our princess, You guard the night as well as our physical forms." A nearby hedgehog said. I was stunned at how they loved me, They call me Their Princess, I would've much preferred If i was worshiped this much back in Equestria, I forgot about how some animals sleep through the day. "Please, Make your way to the Heart of the city, Where your throne sits empty waiting for you." A cat spirit said. I followed her to the heart of the city, where all the spirits who heard about my arrival gathered to see me. The throne was a sleek dark blue decorated with stars and two wings sprouted from each side. The moon, my cutie mark, was imprinted on the backrest of the throne. I held my head up high and walked to the throne, when I sat in it, all the spirits bowed down. "Bow down for the princess has arrived!" Many of the spirits proclaimed my existence. I felt my form fade, I was no longer nightmare moon, I was princess Luna once again. 3 - Cunning and clever spiritsYears passed by as I resided in the moon, I became fond of the spirits and they never stopped ceasing to amaze me. The spirit's bodies were made mostly of stardust. they shined like stars and moved like water. Day by day, I would venture out, meet more and more spirits, I enjoyed talking to them, listening to the stories of their animal counterparts on Equestria. What came strangely one day, was a Wolf spirit. He was cunning and clever. I first met him when he decided to leap right over my head. I was dumbfounded when he did that, I didn't realize till he looked back at me, grin on his face, my tiara in between his teeth, fresh from my head. I cleared my throat before I used my royal Canterlot voice, "Give that back!!" That only made him yip with excitement and run off yelling, "Catch me first, MoonButt!" I immediately took to the skies to catch him, trying not to go too high to hit the ceiling of the city, just enough for the tip of my mane to brush against it. I spotted the grey figure, crashing through crowds within the city, I swooped down to make myself known. Using my magic, I wrapped a levitation spell around my tiara. I tried to pull it out of his jaws, however he kept running and I kept losing my concentration. He finally reached the city entrance and fled to the moon's surface. I promptly followed. I found him leaping and prancing while wearing my tiara, I thanked my owl-like wings for my silent flight and swooped over him, landing so that my weight on his back would pin him down, sadly, it didn't. I landed in a puff of stardust, my tiara inches from my feet. I turn my head to look around for this spirit, There was no sight of him, just my tiara on the ground. I picked it up using my magic, brushed it off with my wing and placed it back on my head. I looked back at the distant planet, Celestia was there, probably. I returned to the center of the city, On my throne, I noticed a familiar figure sitting on it, The wolf spirit. I approached him and he stood his ground. "Name's Edon." He said. "French for wolf, Clever." I replied, "Well, Edon, mind telling me why you took my tiara and now currently sitting on my throne?" "Yep." "Yep?" "I do mind, and therefore I wont say." "Well then can you get off my throne?" "Its a chair, honey." I bit back my tongue, I kept myself graceful, I simply used my magic to levitate him off the throne so that I could sit on it. "Well, Moonbutt, Have fun sitting in a chair, you lack it." He said when I dropped him. He walked away, for good. Or so I thought. Edon always came back with a trick up his paws, at first, I was annoyed every time, but after a while, his tricks turned more intimate. ~~ I walked into what I formally call my home, it was dark, Without the aid of soft candlelight, i saw nothing. I used my magic to conjure a light spell, What I saw stopped my heart, then made it go faster. Roses. Dozens of them. Red roses. scattered all over my home. blood flushed through my cheeks, I almost cried when his voice reached me. "happy hearts and hooves day....Moonbutt.." 1 - When The Stars Speak SoftlyI spent most days on the moon trying to return to Equestria. I tried to fly back, but whenever I tried, I'd suffocate and have to return to the safety of the moon's atmosphere. I hated the low gravity, I had to cast a spell to make myself heavier. It was when I was so angry and mostly bored of the moon, I started shouting out to earth. "Curse that Celestia! Send me here! To the moon! I will return!" I shouted at the distant earth. "Cursed to stay here? Forever?" I wept to myself. "When you pulled the moon in front of the sun, you cursed yourself." A star said with such negativity. "Who's there!?" I shouted to the thin air. Little did I know, The stars watched me all the time. "Don't be frightened, It is us, the stars." They called out. I had never talked to the stars before. It had only been three moons since I was banished. How did I know? I used my horn to engrave a tally of days into a boulder whenever I saw that the earth was shrouded in darkness. "We did not know the stars could speak." I said out loud, in hopes of a reply. "We can help you." The star said. "We can help you get off the moon." "You can help us? We would like to hear your plan." I replied to the star. "On the longest day of the thousandth year, We will aid in your escape." "B-but. That's In a thousand years!" The stars didn't speak to me after that. I was getting lonelier every day. Many days I spent mumbling to myself, I often stared at the home I once had in Equestria. The moon was so, empty. It lacked any plants or water, but I had the comfort of staring up at the stars. The night Is one of the most beautiful things I'd seen. I spent a lot of time staring into the sky. After another two moons of doing nothing, I soon caught myself daydreaming, at least I thought I was. The sound of hooves clipping the moon's surface could be heard every now and again. I was going mad. When I heard it for the seventh time, I lashed out in annoyance. "Who goes there!?" I shouted at thin air. The stars laughed at me. "Why do you laugh?" I asked them "All the time you've spent on the moon and you haven't encountered even one of the spirits?" A star said with delight. "What spirits?" "The spirits you rule over." Another star said. "The spirits of animals who wander the night." 4 - the silent moonLove. That's what I was in. Love. I had never felt it like this before. Edon, He and I spent years on the moon together. We did many things together, and by the time I've been here for about a hundred years, Edon and I loved each other. We played games and strolled along the surface of the moon together. He would tell me stories of what it's like in Equestria, about what his physical form does. But like all mortal beings, their spirits have to go too. I remember that fateful day, I had to watch the one I love turn into stardust. He passed away. His physical form died of old age. He called me over to his bedside when I was creating a meal for him that I learnt to make after years of being on the moon. "Luna....come here..." I sat beside him, his brown furs had become dull and grey over the years, he stroked my face with his paw. I choked up, the tears streamed down my face, I knew that it was his time. I let him wipe away my tears. "Find me in the Everfree forest, it'll be about 900 years before I see you again, after all, my physical form knows you, in his dreams. Wake me up by the lake that comes into a cave, I'll be there." "But," I sobbed, "how will I know you'll wake up? How will I find you?" I sobbed into a mess of things. He lifted my chin and wiped my tears again. "I knew the time was coming, I am asleep in a hole in the ground inside the cave. " I sobbed. "I'll find you." "Till then, moonbutt." He said with his last breath. I watched him as he closed his eyes, with that, the dust his spirit was made with floated away, out of the room. Curious, I followed it. I found that the dust went back to equestria, to complete his body with his spirit.
