1 - When The Stars Speak Softly

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

I spent most days on the moon trying to return to Equestria. I tried to fly back, but whenever I tried, I'd suffocate and have to return to the safety of the moon's atmosphere. I hated the low gravity, I had to cast a spell to make myself heavier. It was when I was so angry and mostly bored of the moon, I started shouting out to earth.

"Curse that Celestia! Send me here! To the moon! I will return!" I shouted at the distant earth. "Cursed to stay here? Forever?" I wept to myself.

"When you pulled the moon in front of the sun, you cursed yourself." A star said with such negativity.

"Who's there!?" I shouted to the thin air. Little did I know, The stars watched me all the time.

"Don't be frightened, It is us, the stars." They called out. I had never talked to the stars before. It had only been three moons since I was banished. How did I know? I used my horn to engrave a tally of days into a boulder whenever I saw that the earth was shrouded in darkness.

"We did not know the stars could speak." I said out loud, in hopes of a reply.

"We can help you." The star said. "We can help you get off the moon."

"You can help us? We would like to hear your plan." I replied to the star.

"On the longest day of the thousandth year, We will aid in your escape."

"B-but. That's In a thousand years!"

The stars didn't speak to me after that. I was getting lonelier every day.

Many days I spent mumbling to myself, I often stared at the home I once had in Equestria. The moon was so, empty. It lacked any plants or water, but I had the comfort of staring up at the stars. The night Is one of the most beautiful things I'd seen. I spent a lot of time staring into the sky. After another two moons of doing nothing, I soon caught myself daydreaming, at least I thought I was. The sound of hooves clipping the moon's surface could be heard every now and again. I was going mad.

When I heard it for the seventh time, I lashed out in annoyance.

"Who goes there!?" I shouted at thin air. The stars laughed at me.

"Why do you laugh?" I asked them

"All the time you've spent on the moon and you haven't encountered even one of the spirits?" A star said with delight.

"What spirits?"

"The spirits you rule over." Another star said.

"The spirits of animals who wander the night."
