Shine Again
-And This Time Shining Forever!
Load Full Story"I can't believe this, Adagio," came a low, gruff voice from behind me. I turned around, taking each step with a renewed anger and pressed my face to a purple one of that belonging to Aria Blaze, a siren just as I. I am Adagio Dazzle, one of three sirens that got stuck in possibly the worst planet that there could ever be: Earth. As of just now, I am now utterly powerless as my defeat earlier tonight has left me and my two other companions, which I will be getting to, weak and broken. You can just guess that my mood was more worse than ever.
"Well so can't I, Aria, got any other news?" I snarled and I eyed some of the cheering, overly excited crowd in front of the stage. We were all hiding in the back of the huge, towering walls of the stage and were currently watching, snake eyed as the goodie-two-shoes celebrated their stupid victory. Yes, them. Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Rarity and the stupid purple dog Spike, to name them all. I can feel my blood boil whenever I hear their names; the brats took everything we'd ever had except for each other.
"Ooh! I do! I do! Tomorrow is when-" Sonata, the idiot of the two other companions I mentioned before, yet this time with light blue skin and a more carefree, squeaky voice, jumped up and down next to me. I felt just about read to shout at my companion, my face turning even redder with anger as I spun around to face her when Aria beat me to her. The elder of my other two companions let out a groan accompanied by a quick roll of her deep, purple eyes.
"We get it! Tomorrow is Taco Tuesday or whatever!" Aria huffed. Deciding to make sure her victim got her message to shut up already, she grabbed Sonata by the shoulders. I couldn't help but smirk at their sisterly aggression and play. Yes, it is true what you heard. My companions are sisters, Aria being older by just a year, yet even with both of their albeit beautiful singing powers, it was until I joined their duo that we really began to take in our true power. This is why I am their lead singer, after all.
"No, I was going to say that-" Sonata tried again, pouting, yet this time I interrupted her instead as I shook my head in anger.
"Shut up, Sonata!" I growled.
Sonata suddenly turned a bright pink as she violently shook off her sister and shoved her way to me. "Tomorrow is when Princess Twilight Sparkle returns to Equestria! I know where the portal is, Adagio! Stop thinking I'm such an idiot because I can face our defeat better than you!" she screamed, and it seemed like a few faces began to turn their way towards us. I felt my face burn as I turned back around.
Quickly grabbing her arm, I pulled Sonata aside. "Where?" I asked her as I began to shake her around, the location of the portal is something I would trade anything for!
"I'm n-not telling you unless you s-stop that!" Sonata gasped, and I quickly let her go, steeping back with a single draw of a breath.
Putting on my best look, I gave her a fake reassuring smile. Now if I just can manipulate her to tell us where it is before the next day comes, we can get home by midnight, if the location isn't too far. "Sonata, can you please tell us where it is?" I asked sweetly, putting on my best look as I desperately hoped that she would spill already.
"I'm not going to fall for that, Adagio. I know what you're doing, I've known you since Celestia was born!" Sonata's brow furrowed even deeper with frustration. Returning to my somber mood, I began to rub my temples as frustration began to take over. Was she kidding me?
"Sonata, just please?" I groaned.
"Nope!" Sonata stuck her chin high as she turned her back on me. The little brat, how dare she! "I'm always treated like such an bozo all the time, and I don't like that! I'm not one hundred and eighty-two anymore!" she added, and I considered hurting her somehow.
I began to hiss with anger and I was about to shout once more as I felt a jab when Aria elbowed me, smirking. "I got this," she whispered to me as she slowly walked up to her younger sister and planted a light kiss on her head.
"Sonata, you know how much I (albeit somehow) love you still, and it would be really great if you could tell us where the portal is, okay?" Aria faced her, a warm and surprisingly sincere look on her face. Sonata thought about it for a moment, then gave a slight nod as she pulled Aria into a warm hug. I was truly surprised. How did Aria get to her yet I didn't?
My mouth was gaped open as I watched Aria walk back to me, grinning at my open mouth and priceless expression. "How did you do that?" I asked her in wonder as I turned back to Sonata, who was skipping down to the corner of the stage, beckoning silently for us to follow. How Sonata was able to get there so quickly was a true mystery to me.
"Sister magic," Aria explained simply, walking up to her little sister. It was true that even though they seemed to hate each other at tense times, it was really the opposite. Trust me, whether you believe it or not! I've seen both sisters use their powers or even kill to protect the other. Even though they have a small age difference of only two years, they still act immature to each other. When they first came across me all alone it was Sonata -whether you can believe it or not-that suggested we get together. So for some time we did truly owe it up to her, but that time ended many centuries ago. Now, we don't owe anything to one another unless it's a small chore or meal.
"Come on, Adagio!" Sonata whispered as she began to run across the fields surrounding the stage towards CHS. We were lucky the stage was just a bit behind the school otherwise I wouldn't have ever known how to get there. Even though currenlty I was clueless of our destination, I followed the girls, falling behind as my hair blew into my face.
"Wait for me, girls!" I called as I huffed up as close as I could towards Aria.
"Heh, slowpoke!" Aria teased and suddenly a strange feeling came over me, with memories that caused my heart to almost melt with nostalgia. I felt like we were kids again; when we didn't rely to much on the hatred of others and sang for fun. Then, these times changed and we were forced to do use our powers for evil as the pony population grew and grew. I also felt once again the sensation of running through the lands on all fours, or if in the water, swimming as fast as I could. It was nice, I'll admit.
"Oh yeah?" I called as I zoomed past the purple teen and right up to Sonata, almost crashing into her.
"Hey!" she squealed as she dodged out the way, wobbling as she stuttered with a split-second-driven fear.
"Wait, why are we going to the school again?" I asked as I felt my heels hit the cobblestone ground that remained in front of the school, and I noticed that a large chunk of it was new and primly polished.
"Because, this is where the portal is!" she pointed through to the white statue and I almost had to ask her what she meant when the realization dawned on me: this statue was the portal all along!
Stepping up to the polished piece, Aria carefully stuck her hand through, and her hand, to the surprise of both me and Aria, went clean through like water. Wow, and from what Aria did next, it didn't seem to feel pleasant. Reeling it back like she had just been bitten by a snake, Aria looked back at me with wide eyes.
"So," Sonata smirked. "Did I tell you, or did I tell you?" Feeling overconfident, she waggled a blue finger at me and Aria as she spoke. She was the most ignorant and idiotic person at times, but at others she showed her importance to our group. Not too many, but way more than enough to prove the fact that's she's important. No, we wouldn't ever ditch her, it was against a siren's companion code. Once our band was formed, we pegasus swore to never leave one-another behind.
"Oh yes you did!" Aria exclaimed, and to my surprise, jumping over to smash herself into her little sister. Looking her straight in the eyes, she beamed with pure happiness, a look that I've not see for much time. "Do you know what this means, Sonata?" looking over to me, Aria stepped out and grabbed me into their circle. "Do you know what this means?" for the first time in what felt like forever, Aria looked like she had to suppress a squeal of joy as she thought of it all.
After less than a moment later a big smile stretched my face as I grasped them both tight. "Yes! I know what this means! We-" I moved over to look graciously at the hidden portal. "-Are now going home, girls!"
"Wait, for realizes?" Sonata asked, distress suddenly pressed against her face. "Don't you at least want to raid the school cafeteria first?" she gestured back towards the school. Now there was the Sonata I knew from my early childhood.
Aria shrugged, and I sighed.
"I guess it couldn't hurt to cause at least a bit more trouble before we have to get back home to Equestria, Sonata," I shrugged as I walked over to the front doors which were surprisingly unlocked. Walking in with style, hips swaying, I straightened myself out to look one more time at the otherwise worthless place. The sisters followed me in.
"So, what do want to-" Sonata stopped in mid-sentence as she screeched from sudden, bright white lights. Police men all stood around us, and they corned us until our back pressed against the smooth front doors, which also seemed to take us captive as they barely budged until our weight.
"We're trapped, girls!" I cried. Was there any hope of getting back home now?
"Halt! You're surrounded!" I looked over to one of the more senior officers as he boomed with authority, clearly the leader of the group. I desperately tried to think of a way out but my mind kept itself held in jumbles. Thinking of the only thing I could do, I quickly turned tail as I began running back towards the portal.
"Run girls, run!" I screamed, looking off behind my shoulder as I frantically ran like my life depended on it.
Aria, Sonata and I all ran out of the building with lightning speed, but before we could jump through the portal, hands clasped around both Sonata and my arms.
"Let them GO!" Aria began to scream as loud as she could in a desperate attempt to free us using her broken and unappealing voice. Luckily, her yelps of worry caused the officer grasping my hand to let go as he desperately covered her ears. I started screaming along with Aria as Sonata desperately tried to get away, shouting as loud as possible. Praying to the pendant gems, we continued screaming on and on, our minds set on nothing but to cause the officer holding Sonata Dusk to let go.
After what seemed like forever, the leading officer holding Sonata loosened his grip for one split second and Sonata managed to wriggle out. Continuing with our desperate scramble, all the while still screaming, we jumped through the portal, leaving the police men utterly confused and stunned.
Then everything became a haze of colors and turned black.
"Ugh, where am I?"" I groaned as I awoke to find myself on cold, hard, purple floor. I looked around as I saw Sonata and Aria, also slowly waking up just as I. I heaved a sigh of relief as I saw them untouched, and let my eyes adjust as I carefully watched them, alert for any bruises or bumps that they might have earned on the way,
"H-How long was I out?" Aria moaned with pain as she rubbed her head. As she felt around, she touched something she knew she hadn't had in a VERY long time. I gasped in shock as I saw a pastel purple unicorn's horn protrude out from her purple head, all the same with Sonata's. I felt around in between my orange locks, and sure enough, there it was. I looked back to the mirror behind me and gasped in horror as I saw my reflection. I wasn't a siren, I was just a normal pony!
"A-Adagio, why is there a horn on top of my head?!?" Sonata began to panic as she looked upon herself. I had no sarcastic answers for her this time as I only continued to stare at reflection in awe.
"Why weren't we turned back to our siren form?" Aria inquired as she hauled herself on all fours. She had no wings, no glowing red eyes, and no necklace.
"The necklaces," I replied as I stood up along with her. Holding out her hoof, I saw Aria help Sonata get up. We were definitely much taller than the average pony from what I could tell, probably mostly because were over tens of hundreds of years old. Maybe about as big as Princess Luna, comparing to pony size? Although yet again, the last time I saw her was thousands of years ago, had she grown even bigger?
"That's right! We don't have them anymore!" Sonata gasped and I rolled my eyes at her ignorance; she was practically the last one to notice everything in many, many of our situations.
"Of course! We just lost them Sonata! Can't you remember that?" Aria hissed as she gave Sonata a frustrated flick of her tail.
"Yes I can!" Sonata frowned, her long striped hair swishing around. As for my own mane it looked just as my hair in the alternate dimension called "Earth". I stopped the two before they began fighting, muttering silently to myself.
"Girls, let's just get down to business. Come on, we have to find Starswirl's wing before Celestia gets here. This castle is big girls, so how about we-"
"Hey! What are ya'll doin' down here?" a southern-style voice came behind me and I turned around in surprise. To my shock, it was an earth pony who most likely be AppleJack at CHS, which meant that Twilight had somehow already returned! My mind fumbled with no explanations as I had to stop myself from literally giving myself a good slap on the cheek. Was this all a dream?
Growling, I almost had no clue what to do. The three of us formed a protective circle in case we were needed to fight as AppleJack walked closer. She was frowning, her brow deeply furrowed as she tried to process what we were doing here.
"Hey! Chillax AJ, they're probably just tourists who got locked in here last night, that's all." Came another voice from behind AppleJack as a pony resembling Rainbow Dash flew up to us. Strangely she had a warm and welcoming smile upon her face, besides the fact that she was meeting potential robbers at their point.
"Tourists?" I heard Aria mutter to herself and yet again the realization dawned on me.
Clearing my throat and putting on my best apologetic smile, I moved cautiously towards the two ponies and gently extended a hoof. "Oh so sorry, girls, we just got lost and the next thing we know is that we awake over here in Princess Celestia's library!"
"Princess Celestia's?" Rainbow hung a face of full confusion as she gave a small giggle. "You mean Princess Twilight's right?"
"Oh? She has a castle now to-I mean, yes, yes I-no-we did!" I stuttered as I felt Sonata kept close to me and Aria, as she was most likely clearly unnerved by Applejack's and Rainbow Dash's presence.
"Cool! Wow, you guys look nice, I dig those outfits!" Rainbow Dash complimented and I realized that we were in fact still wearing our "Battle of the Bands" apparel. "Name's Rainbow Dash by the way," she added, leaning on some sort of invisible wall in mid-air.
"Rainbow!" scolded Applejack as she carefully looked us over. "Ah'm not sure these gals are just tourists." she sniffed.
"Well, you're the whole 'element of honesty' so why don't you figure that out?" Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes as she mocked her friend's apparent title. "Fine. If you want to, I'll go get the others."
"No! Wait!" Sonata gasped behind her, and Rainbow Dash flipped back her head as she stared at the little unicorn in surprise.
"Fine, I'll tell you the truth. We need to find Starswirl the Bearded's library so we can, um, see how to fix one of our enchanted necklaces which help us with, um, keeping our magic, uh, steady...? Without it, we become very-er-weak!" Sonata basically pulled off the best white lie she ever had in our lives and I had to stop myself from gaping. The two ponies took the bait, and Applejack's mood lifted. I internally sighed with relief as she did so, though, and so did Aria and Sonata from what I could tell.
"Well then why didn't you say so? Name's Applejack by the way," the country pony greeted. "Princess Twilight had got all of them Starswirl books in her own library here! I'm sure if you could just wait-"
"No! We....we can't wait," I stopped the slurry pony from continuing. I knew what she was going to say, and I wasn't going to allow it, not on my watch. "We're already feeling weak already!" As if on cue, Aria faltered and fluttered her eyes as in a false attempt to look vulnerable. Nice catch, if I must say.
"Oh then we need to get 'cha them doo-hikies right way!" Applejack began walking towards where the library must be in this overgrown castle. "Rainbow, go get the others. We got ta help these ponies." Rainbow saluted in quick response and flew off. I noticed that she was quite fast, just like our Rainbow Dash had been. Of course though, these were the same people, just trapped into different bodies.
'Oh boy, I thought as Applejack began leading us to the library throughout the large and nicely decorated crystal hallways. 'What have I just gotten myself into?"
"Ya'll wait right here 'kay? Ah got to get RD before she gets everypony in a big commotion. Stay here and don't move, ya'll understand?" Applejack looked back at us one last time as she slammed the big crystal door shut behind her. Now I saw the difference; this was most delicately a complete crystal castle, not one of those regal white stone ones. For once I felt like Sonata as I finally made the difference.
"Adagio-" Aria began, but I interrupted her with a quick flick of my hoof, my face turning to one of a serious matter, dark and weary.
"Girls," I began. "This is our big moment. These ponies mustn't know that we are those sirens. We have to find that spell-book and get out of here as quickly as possible? Understand?" Aria nodded and I looked over to see Sonata looking off towards the various shelves that made up the gigantic library.
"Sonata?" I hissed.
"Yeah?" she returned her attention to me, half smiling in her own daydream.
"Do you understand?" I asked her like I would ask a filly what one plus one equaled.
"Oh? Uh, yeah," Sonata bobbed her head until it looked until it was going to fall off, an indication to me that she had no idea of what had just happened. Aria muttered under her breath, and I face-hoofed.
"Look. Pretend to be weak, get the spell book, and get out of here, okay?" I simplified, rolling my eyes with annoyance.
"Oh okay!" Sonata exclaimed, and suddenly she dropped her head low. I looked behind me to see what she was looking at, but nopony was there.
"What's so-"
"Hello?" interrupting my voice the door opened and in came a gorgeous white mare with a purple mane. Not as beautiful as my self, but a decent competition. I recognized her as Rarity, and then came in Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, and the two mares we had already greeted.
Aria coughed behind me and I dropped my head almost instantly.
"Oh, are these the mares you were talking about?" Oh! The poor things!" Rarity rushed towards us and to the surprise of all of us, immediately grabbed up parts of our dresses in her hooves. "Look at this! Such beauty shouldn't ever be so dirty and bruised like this! My my, have you running around in these things or what?"
I saw Aria's stupor look and almost laughed at her expression. How unpredictable for the chic unicorn to do something as this? I should have known, with all the fuss she was causing with Applejack over back at CHS.
"Them girls said that they're lookin' for some special necklaces," Applejack explained as she closed the door behind her.
"W-Without them we're very weak," Aria coughed, and Sonata coughed along with her sister. I hacked a few times for emphasis, hoping with all my heart that they would buy our play.
"Poor dears!" I recognized Fluttershy as she came up to us. "Don't worry, I'll get some daisy noodle soup for you girls." Fluttershy assured us and I saw Sonata's face brighten slightly at the mention of food. Seeing that the fools surely didn't seem to think of us as threats, I shortened my guard.
But only by an inch.
"Wait, don't you mean chicken noodle soup?" Aria rasped, and I shot her a glare. What did she not understand about being quiet?
"What?" Fluttershy asked, confused. That little quip brought another thing to me that I wasn't used to: Everypony here in this world were vegetarians. Ugh. It was bad enough when we had to learn to eat meat for the next hundred years over on Earth, but now that entireprocess has to be switched over again? Why can't ponies simply be omnivores already?
"Never-mind," Aria turned around as she continued to look as weak as she could. Surprisingly, Sonata tried to do the same, and giving her a nudge, she quickly whispered into her ear as the others babbled on their apologies. Aria smirked, and scooted herself back to back with her sister. I silently giggled as I realized what they were doing. The two were probably going to show off that they were in fact siblings. A good idea for such usual pony-brained idiots, I run over in my mind.
"Oh, you guys look awful! Do you want some cake?" Pinkie Pie sprang up to us and brought up a cupcake tray stuffed with pink cupcakes out of thin air. She offered it to us with a smile and open arms. "By the way, my name's Pinkie Pie!" she added. What a pleasant pony to be around, if this world wasn't so sappy and could deal with new leaders as quickly.
"Ooh! I want one!" Sonata exclaimed and I glared at her with such ferocity that if looks could kill, Sonata would be burnt to a crisp. Shrinking back, she added with a sniffle, "Only to um, try it...." she fumbled, and Aria gave her a hard shove, causing her to almost drop her cupcake. Sonata deserved it though, and I couldn't stop her there.
"From what I'm guessing you three are probably sisters-by the way to act with each other of course-aren't you?" Rarity guessed as she finished examining our apparel. Looking down, I noticed that she had not only examined them, she had also fixed them. Must've been with her unicorn magic, since in this world such magic existed.
"N-Not really," My usual sassy tone was lost as I made my voice just loud enough for everypony to hear. "I'm....just a close friend," I admitted, trying to emit an embarrassed grin. But what was there to be embarrassed about? That was lost to me, yet I kept on trying.
"So two sisters and one' close friend' who desperately need these necklaces to gain their strength back? Eh, I guess that sounds legit." Rainbow Dash commented, yet she eyed us with a flash of sudden suspicion. My guard shot straight up, and I took a quick glance over the others with sudden alarm. Luckily, nopony else seemed disturbed.
"Are you kidding me?" Pinkie screeched, bunching up to Aria and Sonata, pushing their faces closer together. "They're sisters, guys! They need each other! Like me and Maud!" I watched, the pick fool babble on about her sisters, and I remembered meeting the one supposedly named "Maud". My, was she dull as a rock-which was what she should be. If only I could do that though, that would have been nice.
"Hello! I'm back!" Fluttershy called, and she set a steaming dish in front of me. Thanking her, I blew over the bowl of...deliciously looking soup. 'Uh-oh.' I heard my own voice ring into my head. [i']That pony diet must be getting to me, no doubt about it!'
"Ooh!" Sonata exclaimed, and she excitedly shoved a spoon into her mouth. All the surrounding ponies' eyes widened in shock as Sonata sprang up like a hot rocket. "Hot! Hothothothothot!" I watched, albeit grinning, as she ran around screaming like a little filly. Silently cursing to herself, Aria also got up along with a few others, and caught up to her sister. I would have helped, but I was to busy to care as a cover of a special little book caught my eye.
Slowly walking over to it while everypony had their attention on Sonata and Aria, I picked it up with my hooves and blew onto the dusty cover. The book was long and forlorn looking, but as the title caught my eye I immediately let out a malicious chuckle. This was perfect.
On the cover it said Siren's Jewels: Enchanting and Defeating Encyclopedia. Flipping through the pages, I finally settled onto a page deep within the novel.
Siren's Ruby Jewel: A special kind of pendant that is found quite easy to enchant if the spell is done correctly. In order to make one, a hexagonal ruby must be found for the pendant in order to produce maximum power. Any other shape will either be weak or sensitive to certain types of negative magic. Next, one shall take black leather from a dragon's hide and form it into a lace. As for the enchanting spell, it can only be performed by true sirens that were born into a siren family.
I felt quickly and frantically for a moment around my neck until I felt my hoof run over my dragon's lace. I sighed with relief, and looked upon the song that me, Aria, and Sonata would need to sing in order to enchant each of our pendants, which undoubtedly these five ponies would help us to find. If Rarity collects sequins and jewelry of the sort here, does that mean that has a collection of actual gems here in Equestria? Shaking my head, I scanned over the pages until I found the enchanting spell a few paragraphs below, both in singular and plural forms.
Feeling the power within us,
We shall defeat them all,
We will keep on singing,
Until our darkest fall,
Love us or hate us,
We shall rule them all,
Oh yes, we shall rule them all!
Memorizing the spell, I tore out the page and stuffed it deep within my mane, keeping it safe. Then I scowled as I saw the next page because there it was, as promised. How to: Defeat the Sirens. 'Really?' I frowned. 'Well, better to take out this page, too,' I tear it out, but not before reading the inscription with scornful eyes and a furrowed brow.
Legend goes that to defeat the sirens an opposing force will need to have enough sincere, magic, friendship, and love deep within their own planned counter-spell in order to defeat a siren, may it be one, two, three, or more. If one does accomplish it, you will need to make sure that the defeated siren must have both their broken jewel and necklace removed from their necks. Otherwise, if the certain siren keeps the lace, he/she will be able to re-power themselves much more easily than without it. Remember to keep all enchanting books away from everypony must any sirens go rouge.
I laughed deeply with pure villainy. How lucky are we that the little princess didn't know about this at all? She must have no clue! I bet-
"Adagio?" Sonata asks me from behind. Quickly stuffing the second page into my poofy orange hair, and turn around and put on an innocent smile. I regained my guard and I hoped that they hadn't heard my villainous cry.
"Y-Yes?" I call, also regaining my weak posture and slowly walking over to the two sisters. Brushing my tail over their snouts, I gestured to my hair with a tip of my head. They gave me wide eyed looks, then protruded large smirks from their pastel faces and continued their act.
"Hey, is Adagio your name?" Rainbow asked me as I sat down again, my purple dress making me look like a big orange, yellow, and purple party pinata. The pony had many questions, and I tried my best to not hiss with annoyance at her stupor tone.
"Yes?" I answered after a moment's hesitation. Did Twilight tell them our names? Will they be able to recognize them if she did?
"Huh. That's a cool name. Say, why don't 'cha tell us about where you're from about now?" Rainbow landed behind me with a large smack! of her body, and suddenly everypony in the room had surrounded me, Aria, and Sonata.
"Do you seriously think that we wouldn't get that you three girls are the sirens Twilight told us about? Didn't you notice that I saw those leather necklaces you had when I inspected your dresses?" Rarity shouted, as she teleported herself next to Aria. Her voice sounded distant for a moment as she reappeared just behind my compatriot.
Suddenly panicking, I did what I thought was best: I threw up my soup bowl dish right into the pony who was closest to me's face, which was luckily Rainbow Dash's face, causing her to scream as the hot bowl burned her now steaming face. Teleporting with all the energy I could muster, I found myself right at the door. Unluckily, I looked off as Aria and Sonata had been grabbed by the others!
"AriaaaaaaaaAAHHHHHH! SonataaaaaAAAAHHHHHHHHH!" I screamed, my eyes filled with sudden heart-filled fear for my dearest friends. I quickly decided to fight them in case they couldn't escape, and slid across the floor, ramming myself into Applejack as she caught her eye on me. I screamed right into her ear as Applejack flipped back and pounded me against the floor, making her wince in agony. I bucked her in the chin, and slapped her over and over again until she collapsed onto the floor, puffing. I heaved myself out from under her, panting with great effort and realization at what I had just done.
Rainbow Dash quickly let go of Sonata as she raced over to Applejack with the speed of a rainbow-tailed jet. "Applejack! Y-You monster! You will pay for hurting my friend!" Rainbow Dash quickly looked over her friend, then sprang up and kicked me square in the face, making me shriek. I heard Aria gasp in the background as Sonata got pushed down even harder by Rarity while Pinkie and Fluttershy took a hold of holding and pressing onto the purple mare herself. The yellow pegasus mare was even silently apologizing to Aria as she did so, trying to keep on a stern face with all her might.
Then I snapped. I couldn't take this anymore.
"WOO-AHH, WO-WO-AHH!!" I began literally screaming the first vocals, feeling pain as Rainbow Dash continued to hit me with pure rage. "F-FEELING THE POWER WITHIN US," I knew that this was probably, and most likely, hopeless, yet I began to scream out the enchanting spell anyways, for it was our only shot at gaining any of our power back. Maybe even, but just maybe, this crystal castle would somehow contain ruby in it's structures?
"WE SHALL DEFEAT THEM ALL!" I gasped as I slammed down onto Rainbow Dash and pulled hard on her mane, making her yelp with pain. I saw my reflection within Rainbow's eyes, and I surprised myself with my own looks of fury. My hair was becoming a mess, and my dress was ripped once more. My eyes held nothing but madness, pure, sweet madness. I was definitely looking like I was going to explode at any moment now.
"WE-AUGH!" I gasped as Rainbow punched me right in the gut, winding me. The enchanting spell flew out of my mane, landing -with what seemed by fate-directly in front of Aria and Sonata. I almost died with relief before gulping in more oxygen with my desperate lungs.
"We-E-" Aria and Sonata scanned their eyes over the picture of the siren's necklace and the words as quickly as they could. Just as they looked like they finished, both got slammed down by every remaining inch to the crystallized flooring of the castle. It looked pretty had it not been stained with the blood of the five mares and ourselves, the sirens hidden as ponies.
"W-WE WILL KEEP ON SINGI-" I heard a sickening thump! as Sonata passed out. I looked over as Aria shrieked, and squirmed as much as she could over to her sister. The girls looked like they desperately needed my help, and I made sure to go help them once I finally finished off with Rainbow Dash.
"Hey guys! Help!" Rainbow looked over to her friends for split second, yet that was all I needed. Ramming my head into her torso, yet keeping my horn clear of her vulnerable chest. I wasn't a ghastly murder, but I will give hurt to any and all of my enemies. I shook Rainbow off me, my hair sticky with sweat as I began to shout with exasperation once more.
"WE WILL KEEP ON SINGINGGGGGG, UNTIL OUR DARKEST FALLLLLLL-" I yelled with as much force as I could, and I heard Aria joining in soon after I began with another verse. I jumped onto Fluttershy, making her squeak with surprise. I gave her a smirk. With a single swipe of my hoof, I knocked the weak pegasus out. Just as I stepped off her body, Rarity turned and pounced onto me, making me in squeal in response. My eyes widened as I felt for sure that this round with surely be the end of this battle. My hope fell low, yet I kept snarling.
"You brute! You will be kept a lesson-!" Rarity spat, and I sniffed with disgust as her sparkling grey spit showered over me. In a pure flurry of mind a moment later I saw blue hooves almost stomp onto her cloud-white head. There stood Sonata, who was still grasping her head in a dizzily manner. Giving me a quick flash of her usual goofy smile, she gave a most inappropriate of times relaxed sigh and turned around. 'Did she think that this battle was as good as over?' I thought with a level of confusion.
My questions were soon answered as she practically huffed with rage. She had sighed because now this was for real. Her anger was brought to an entirely new level, one I have seen very few times before. I braced myself; this could get ugly.
"GET OFF MY SISTER!" Sonata rampaged as she mercilessly smashed herself into Pinkie Pie's sides. Pinkie fell down like a domino, as she let go of conciousness in defeat. All around her her friends lay, bloodied, sweaty, and heavily bruised. Aria gasped for air, her voice hoarse. "Thanks," she got onto all fours with many wobbled and shakes as Sonata and I heaved her up with both of our front fore-hooves.
"Let's get down to business, girls!" I exclaimed, bloodied, bruised, and huffing just as the ponies who represented Twilight's best friends at both here and Canterlot High. I picked up the ripped and yellowed paper sheet with my hooves. Taking deep, rasping, breaths, we started our song over again.
"Feeling the power within ussss, we shall defeat them alllll! We will keep on singiinnngggg, until our darkest faaallllll! Love us or hate us, we shall rule them alllll! Oh yES, WE SHALL RULEEEE THEMMM AAALLLLL!" Our voices rose as we sang, and I felt a familiar sensation pulse through me once more.
A bright glow emerged from the paper as we finished our song, making me gasp with surprise as I let it drop to the floor. The spell was working! Red beams shot out at each of the empty spots where our jewels once hung, and as I bet we had all hoped, I, along with Sonata and Aria, felt myself growing stronger. Not by much, but enough to feel it coursing through me easily enough.
My voice suddenly felt like sweet music as I absentmindedly kept on singing, along with Sonata and Aria. The song was being repeated as the spell worked it's way into our very souls. We were lifted up into the air, and soon became enveloped in a bright red cocoon. My teeth grew sharp and long, and I felt my mane being replaced by sharp spikes that adorned my back and ghoulish tail. We finished transforming, and my eyes held themselves blood-hungry as the rest of the negative energy filed in through the portal and into our pendants.
"IT'S TIME, GIRLS! WE'RE BACK, EQUESTRIA-SO PREPARE TO FEEL OUR WRATH ONCE AGAIN!!!!" I boomed in villainous joy. Aria and Sonata joined me, and I laughed as the horror-stricken faces of the little ponies caught my eyes. "THE AGE OF THE SIRENS HAS BEGUN!"
Author's Note
Oh wow, this was fun to make. Yeah, wow.
I REALLY like this one. I wonder if I will write more? Probably. But anyways, I just want to say that I really wanted to include my head-cannon about Sonata and Aria actually being like sisters since they acted so much like ones back in Rainbow Rocks!
I also really wanted to test out some sister magic in the story-I actually have a little sister myself who lives in Ponyville with me!
AS with the line in the song Love us or hate us, I think I got that from a song or something.
Ummm.....
Yeah? XD Anyways, I hoped that you liked that cliffhanger ending!
