With an old foe of Equestria returned nearly a decade before her birth, Twilight has never known anything but eternal night.

As she struggles along an unhappy life at her Empress' Unicorn Academy, disliked for her strange perspective and lack of real magic potency, she has yet to learn that true friendship can be the key to much more than just personal happiness.

When things get into motion again, with an unwilling Twilight straight at the centre, it is her chance to prove the world that utter darkness is perhaps the best place for new light to be born.
