Sonic High: Rainbow Rocks

Sonic the Hedgehog burst through the statue’s base still in his normal form before colliding with a tree and falling to the ground.

Both Twilight’s group and Sonic’s group stared as the blue hedgehog transformed into his Canterlot High self. “SONIC!!” everyone happily exclaimed.

Sonic shook his head before getting to his feet. “Ugh…Long time no see guys. You too, Twilight!”

Twilight nodded and waved. “I had a hunch that you’d show up. Let’s head to Sugarcube Corner and we can discuss things there,” she said.

“Oh I do hate that you had to return in a time of crisis. We have so much catching up to do!” Rarity excitedly said.

“For starters, a certain blue-haired guitar player was just asking about you.” Applejack added.

Twilight lit up with excitement, blushing. “Flash Sentry was asking about me??” she then noticed all her friends staring at her with smug faces. Twilight composed herself and cleared her throat. “Isn’t that lovely,” she added before taking a sip of her beverage, trying to brush it off.

Rarity broke the awkward silence. “Perhaps you could give us just a little bit of gossip from your world?” she asked.

Spike spoke up with a doggie treat in paw. “She’s got an official title now!” he used the treat to pantomime a trumpet. “Doo doodoodoo! The Princess of Friendship!” he announced.

Sunset Shimmer smiled. “Wow. That’s really impressive! Guess you really were Princess Celestia’s prized pupil,” she commented.

“She’s even got her own castle!” Spike added with an arrogant smile.

Rarity grabbed Twilight by the shoulder excitedly, spilling some of the girl’s beverage on her magenta bowtie. “A CASTLE?? YOU HAVE YOUR OWN CASTLE?!” she asked, then noticing everyone staring at her. “Uh…Oh lovely!” she said, taking a cloth out of her bag and cleaning the mess.

“What about you, Sonic? Anything new from your world?” Rainbow Dash asked, turning to face the blue-haired hero along with everyone else.

Sonic smiled. “Just saving the world from Eggman and his evil life-sucking machine that almost destroyed the planet after his so-called “new friends” hijacked it and almost turned Tails into their personal robotic slave. To be honest, that had to be the most bizarre adventure I’ve been on,” he explained.

Everyone stared with confused, dumbfounded, shocked, and/or quizzical expressions.

Sonic gave a sheepish chuckle. “Hey, you were the ones who asked!” he reminded.

Twilight broke the silence. “Right…Anyway, what’s new here? I mean besides your school becoming the target for dangerous magical creatures from Equestria?” she asked.

Rainbow Dash put down her drink and pulled out her phone. “Yeah, so that isn’t exactly the only strange thing that’s happened since you left,” she said, pulling up a recorded video and playing it.

Everyone gathered around.

In the video, Rainbow Dash was seen playing a song with her band while pony ears, wings, and hair extensions began to appear.

Twilight and the others were stunned.

“Pretty sweet, huh? It happens to all of us when we play!”

“Play what? Instruments? I don’t know about the rest of you but that just sounds ridiculous!” Knuckles said.

Twilight pondered. “My crown was returned to Equestria but some of its magic must’ve remained here at Canterlot High! Now that we’re all back together, we can use that magic on the sirens just like how we were able to use it on Sunset Shimmer when she turned into that horrifyingly awful winged monster!” she said before realizing something. “No offence.”

“None taken. Heh, I’m used to it.”

Sonic grinned. “Guess I see no reason to be here then now that you girls got it under control! Although I will stick around to see those three villain wannabes get blasted by you girls!” he commented before taking a bite out of a chilidog.

Rainbow Dash stood up, just as pumped up. “They’ll never even know what hit them!” she exclaimed before throwing chops, kicks, and punches at the air, only to be stopped by Applejack’s waiting hand.

“We’ve got nothing to worry about now that Twilight’s back!” the cowgirl said.

Fluttershy frowned. “Oh…I’m pretty sure I can find something to worry about. But it won’t be the sirens!” she suddenly perked up.

Silver let out a chuckle.

“The sooner we do this the better!” Twilight said before turning to Rarity and Sunset Shimmer. “Any idea where the Dazzlings might be?”

Both girls shrugged.

Pinkie Pie got Twilight’s attention by waving frantically. She rushed to finish her drink then let out a refreshed “Ahh” before speaking. “There’s a big party tonight for all the bands who signed up for the showcase! That would include the Dazzlings!” she said, digging out any extra cream from her drink with the straw.

Everyone smiled. “Looks like we’ve got a party to crash,” she said before cleaning Pinkie Pie’s face with a napkin.

Sonic grinned. “Hey! That’s my line!” he joked.

Later in the gym, all of the bands were gathered but instead of friendly chatting and mingling, students were threatening and annoying each other, gossiping and insulting one another.

Sonic’s group had gathered not too far from Twilight’s, being careful not to aggravate the other bands.

“Oh man…even the air feels like hatred. Those Dazzlings must’ve really roughed up the school huh?” Sonic asked with a spare chilidog in hand.

Amy nodded. “I just hope Twilight and her friends can return everything to normal. I feel as if I’m getting…really…ANGRY!!” she flared up just as a band passed her. “HEY!! DID YOU JUST GIVE ME THE STINK EYE?! HOW ABOUT I GIVE YOU A BLACK EYE!?” she threatened, pulling out a large hammer and swinging it around!

Sonic went wide-eyed and quickly set his prized food down. “HEY! Whoa there! Take it easy, Amy! If I know Twilight, she’s got everything under control! She is the princess of FRIENDSHIP after all,” he reassured. “And I’m a hundred percent positive none of them looked at you funny. Just chill!”

Amy took a deep breath and exhaled, all her stress disappearing. “Uh…You’re right. Twilight’s the princess of friendship. She’s done this before…get a hold of yourself Amy,” she told herself.

Sonic smiled. “That’s better. Why don’t you just go over and have some punch or have a few cookies?” he suggested before going back to his chilidog. Upon taking a bite, he noticed that it was now made out of plastic! “Ow! What the heck?” he exclaimed before noticing Snips and Snails laughing with the real chilidog in hand! Sonic ran after them. “Hey! Get back here!”

Amy sighed. “Boys will be boys,” she said before noticing the doors opening to reveal the Dazzlings.

Sonic and friends noticed as well before gathering to watch the spectacle that was the defeat of the Dazzlings!

“THERE ISN’T GOING TO BE A BATTLE OF THE BANDS!” Twilight shouted, getting everyone’s attention. “We’re going to make sure of that!”

Sunset Shimmer and Sonic’s group all smiled confidently.

Twilight and her friends joined hands. “Alright girls, let’s do this!” she said before the girls closed their eyes, ready to unleash their harmonic energy.

“FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC!!!”

Nothing happened.

Sonic and the gang all stared in surprise.

Rainbow Dash finally broke the silence. “Uh…weren’t there rainbows and lasers and stuff last time?” she asked.

“I don’t understand. We’re all together again. Why isn’t this working?” she wondered.

Blaze noticed Pinkie Pie’s mouth stuffed with cookies and chuckled. “It’s probably the cookies,” she whispered to Silver.

The Dazzlings grinned while everyone else in the room aimed stern and confused looks.

Spike poked his head out of Twilight’s backpack. “You really need to go ahead and do that whole “Magic of Friendship” thing now.”

Twilight frowned. “I’m trying Spike. I thought the six of us standing against the sirens would bring out the magic in us we needed to defeat them! That’s what happened before!” she whispered.

“Talk about throwing down the gauntlet! This group is obviously serious about winning! A little cocky though, aren’t they? Claiming we won’t win the battle! Seems they think they’ve already got this thing all locked up!” Adagio Dazzle exclaimed.

And that was enough to spark a school-wide riot!

“NOT THAT THE GREAT AND POWERFUL TR-R-R-RIXIE HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT!”

“WHATEVER TRIXIE! WE’RE THE BEST BAND AT CHS!”

“No!! The Crusaders are gonna win!!”

Everyone began to scream and yell at each other, claiming that they were the best.

The green fog appeared again and the Dazzlings smiled as their red pendants appeared to absorb the fog!

Tails frowned nervously. “C-C’mon guys…Let’s go somewhere more friendly…” he instructed before leading his friends out.

Adagio grinned. “I think we finally found what we’re looking for! Or rather, IT found us!” she said.

Sonata Dusk just stood there, clueless.

Aria Blaze facepalmed.

“MAGIC!” she yelled. “Everyone else has fallen under our spell but not these girls. These girls are special.”

Aria Blaze suddenly noticed Sonic pulling a frustrated Amy away. “What about that blue one?” she asked, pointing to the blue blur.

Adagio turned and raised an eyebrow. “Something about him seems…odd. But it doesn’t matter. Just like every student here, he’ll fall eventually.”
