Author's Note
Author’s note: This fic is going to have a link to a songs. It’s not necessary to listen to it completely, you can if you want to but it won’t affect the story, so do as you like. And this is an anthro story (anthro means the characters will be humanized, they’ll have hands, feet and will wear clothes, but they’ll still have pony ears, muzzle and/or wings/horns) but even though this is an anthro story, I’ll still refer to the characters as pegasus, unicorns and earth ponies. Also, minor shipping. Be warned. Hope you like my first MLP fanfic :D
Secret
"So, what do you think is taking Fluttershy so long?"
Rainbow Dash asked Twilight Sparkle while flying towards Fluttershy’s cottage. Pinkie Pie sent them to look for the yellow pegasus since Gummy’s birthday party had started an hour ago and Fluttershy still haven’t appeared.
"I don’t know" Twilight responded “It’s nothing new for her to be a bit late at meetings and parties,” she said remembering that one time when Princess Celestia visited Sugarcube Corner and the shy pegasus lost track of time taking care of her critters and arrived late “But still, she’s an hour late. I hope nothing bad happened”
“C’mon, you are not worried, are you? I’m sure she’s just fine. Maybe she’s dealing with Discord and his shenanigans again. Even after the whole Tirek thing happened, I’m pretty sure he’s never going to stop being Discord.” Dash said smiling.
“Yeah, I’m sure you are right. On both things” Twilight giggled and they shared a little laugh before finally reaching the cottage. As soon as they reached it, their smiles dropped. It was quiet. Too quiet. Even for Fluttershy.
Dash landed in front of the door and knocked three times. No answer. She knocked again harder. Still no answer. No nervous squeaks, no “Angel please behave” or “Angel don’t do that” or “Please Discord, would you kindly set Angel Bunny on the ground again?” Just silence.
Now Dash was getting a little bit nervous too. But decided not to show it and play it cool -“M-maybe she went to Cloudsdale to visit her parents” She said trying to sound calm.
“But she already knew fully well that today was Gummy’s birthday party. Pinkie Pie reminded each and everyone of us every day for a month. I know Fluttershy can lose track of time, but I don’t think she would forget something so important for Pinkie.” Twilight said as she peeked through the window only to see the living room deserted. Everything seemed normal, it was clean and ordered. But there was no one there. No Discord, no Angel, no Fluttershy, not even one of all the critters she took care of.
“I’ll fly around the cottage, maybe she’s in the back” Dash said and took off at full speed. Meanwhile, Twilight looked through another window and around the entrance to see if the key was hidden somewhere around there. But while looking for the key, Twilight realized they didn’t try opening the door. If the door was closed it would mean the shy pegasus went out of the house, maybe it would mean that she was on her way to the party, but maybe she went through other path. With that in mind Twilight stood in front of the door, placed a hand on the doorknob and turned it. And the door opened. Once it was completely opened Dash returned. “I couldn’t find her anywhe-“ Dash saw the opened door and stopped talking. “D-did you find the key?” The blue pegasus asked.
“No, it was opened” The purple unicorn responded, unsure of what to do.
She wanted to enter and make sure if Fluttershy was still here or not. But maybe they were getting nervous over nothing, maybe this was a misunderstanding and, even though they are friends, entering in somebody else’s house without said somebody’s permission was not right.
“Should we go in?” Dash finally asked.
“I don’t know, what if this is not what it looks like? What if she’s fine and we are getting worked up over nothing?” Twilight said hesitant of what to do.
“If that’s the case, we’ll explain to her what happened. It’s Fluttershy after all. She won’t be mad if we explain ourselves. I don’t know about you but I need to know if she’s okay or not” Dash said. She wouldn’t admit it, but she always felt a special kind of affection towards Fluttershy. She was just so fragile, kind and gentle, the absolute opposite of Rainbow, but that was what attracted her. She wanted to protect her. But she was also scared of how the shy pegasus would react if Dash confessed to her, so she kept it inside of her.
After a long silence, Twilight finally responded -“You are right Rainbow, we have to make sure she’s safe, she’s our friend after all.”
“Yeah, friend” Dash said still thinking about how she felt about Fluttershy. But there was no time for that now. There were more important matters to attend to. “Alright” Dash said “Let’s go” And they entered.
They closed the door behind them and started looking around. Aside from the uncomfortable silence, everything seemed normal. Nothing was broken or misplaced so that was a relief, but it also raised even more questions. “I’m going to check out upstairs” Dash said “you look around here”
“Okay” Twilight said. But before Dash went upstairs she thought of something “Oh Dash?”
“Yeah? What is it?” Dash asked
“If the door to Fluttershy’s room is closed, knock on it first. You don’t want to see Fluttershy naked, do you?” Twilight asked smiling and raising an eyebrow. Dash’s face turned Big Mac red as she stumbled with her words
“W-wh-what the hay are you talking about?! I’m not a creep, I wouldn’t d-do that! And besides, how can you joke at a time like this?! I-I can’t believe you!” Dash said with a mixture of anger and embarrassment and she quickly went upstairs. Twilight giggled
“When is she going to finally confess? Everyone except Fluttershy knows already. But she’s right, I shouldn’t be joking around. This is serious” Thinking that, Twilight started looking around every corner of the house’s first floor. There was nothing suspicious around, everything seemed normal. Nothing weird on the kitchen either.  “How strange” Twilight thought “Doesn’t matter how hard I look around, everything seems normal… unless…” An idea came to the purple unicorn’s mind and her horn started glowing. With her horn faintly glowing she started looking around again. After looking around the kitchen again and half the living room she stopped in front of a certain section of the wall. There was a faint magic aura around this specific section of the wall, but even if it was faint, Twilight recognized it immediately. “This is Discord’s magic! Why is Discord’s magic covering this part of the wall?” While Twilight was wondering this, Dash flew back down the stairs
“She’s not in her room. And before you do a joke, yes I did knock on the door before entering” Dash said with an annoyed tone but stopped in mid air when she saw Twilight staring at the wall with a serious look on her face. “What’s wrong?” Dash asked.
“There’s a magic aura covering this part of the wall. It’s Discord’s magic” Dash’s eyebrows went up
“What… does that mean?”
“I don’t know. But we are going to find out.” And with that Twilight’s horn started glowing brighter and brighter. She knew this kind of spell, it was meant to hide a secret door or passageway. And it wasn’t too hard to break either, even if it was Discord the one who did the spell, it was pretty basic and it wasn’t too strong either. In just a couple of seconds, the wall started sliding to the side and behind it there was a small passage that lead to a stairway down.
“Wow” was all Dash could say. Once Twilight’s horn ceased glowing, she peeked through the secret door and went to the beginning of the stairway.
“I didn’t know Fluttershy had a basement” She said. When Dash finally came back to earth, she said
“Who cares about the basement, a better question would be why would she hide it behind a wall?” Dash said almost whispering.
“Yeah, I guess you are right” Twilight said. They both looked down at the stairs and then at each others faces. Now they were both getting really nervous. Dash couldn’t hide it anymore. It was obvious for anyone just by looking at her face.
Silently agreeing, they both started heading down the hidden stairway.
Light started fading more and more as they made their way down the stairs, they could see a faint glow at the end of the stairway but it was so faint they could barely see anything once they were halfway there. What they did notice was a voice coming from the room at the end of the stairs, they could barely hear it, but it was definitely someone’s voice.
“Doesn’t that voice sound familiar to you?” Dash whispered
“I can’t be sure. I can barely hear it” Twilight answered as they kept going lower and lower.
After going down some more they recognized the voice. It was Fluttershy’s voice. She was talking in her typical whispery low voice, so they couldn’t understand what she was saying, but she was talking to someone.
“Who is she talking to?” the smart unicorn wondered
“How could I know?” The daredevil in blue answered
“I wasn’t asking you, I was thinking out loud” Twilight whispered.
Once they were close to the bottom of the stairs they could finally make out what the shy pegasus was saying -“…so I hope you enjoy this. Oh, and if you do please let me know and I’ll do it more often” The duo stood still, shocked and confused at what they just heard.
“It… it can’t be. It just can’t possibly be that. Right?” Dash thought, scared that what she was thinking might be true. At the same time Twilight had the same thought
“Is Fluttershy with… someone? About to do… something?” They stood there like statues with a slight shade of red covering both of their faces.
After some seconds that felt like hours they heard another voice. It was a male voice whispering. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fVE8kSM43I)
As soon as the voice pronounced that last word, some kind of instrument started playing. It sounded like a keyboard. And after some more seconds a full band started playing, the male voice went from singing low and easy to a higher note to later become a growl and later leaving way to the guitars to play a catchy and heavy riff.
Now Twilight and Rainbow Dash were completely and absolutely lost. They didn’t know what the hay was happening. Without saying a word, they both entered the room and stared in awe at one of the most unexpected sights they ever witnessed.
Fluttershy was sitting infront of a viceo camera and behind a huge drum set. It had pretty much everything a drummer could ask for, but not just that, she was head banging wildly while playing said drums with unbelievable speed and precision. And to top it all, she had her hair dyed black and she was wearing a black costume, and a mask that looked like something you would wear on Nightmare Night. The duo stood there dumbfounded and watched their friend play the whole song.
Once the song was done Fluttershy stared at the floor for a moment and took some deep breaths before looking up again. Once she looked up she saw two silhouettes that looked a lot like Twilight and Dashie. But there was just no way they could be here. It was just not possible.
“Discord, are you playing jokes on me again?” Fluttershy said giggling a bit “I didn’t know you were so good at taking somebody else’s form. But why are there two? …Can you duplicate yourself?!” The yellow pegasus asked surprised “That’s amazing! Oh, now I remember. You can do that. You did it when you froze that lake. It feels like it was yesterday, doesn’t it? Though it wasn’t that long ago” Fluttershy giggled once more and fell silent. Why was Discord not responding to her? Why was he just standing staring with his mouth, or should we say mouths, agape. She was starting to feel uneasy -“Um, Discord? Why are you so… silent?” After a long uncomfortable silence, Dash decided to speak the truth.
“Because we are not Discord Flutters.” And with that, Fluttershy fainted and fell from the stool.
“Why did you do that Rainbow?!” Twilight asked as she held the unconscious Fluttershy on her arms.
“What? I said the truth, what else could I do?” Dash replied
“Maybe we could’ve pretended to be Discord so that she wouldn’t faint. How about that?” Twilight said with an angry tone of voice. Dash’s anger started to rise as well
“Well, if you had such a good idea then why didn’t YOU say anything instead of standing there with a dumb look on your face huh?!”
“Because I was shocked! And you didn’t look so different either. Oh wait, you always have a dumb look on your face” Dash’s face got closer to Twilight’s
“Oh yeah?” She said
“YEAH!” The unicorn responded. And then a third voice joined
“Wh-what happened?” They both looked down to see their pink haired friend with her eyes slightly opened.
“Fluttershy! Are you okay? Does it hurt somewhere?” Twilight asked concerned
“How many awesome me’s do you see?” Dash asked. Twilight slowly raised her head and stared at her rainbow haired friend.
“What?” Dash said.
“…seriously?” Was all Twilight said before going back to Fluttershy. The yellow pegasus slowly took a sitting position, giving her back to her friends, and rubbed her temples as the memories came back to her. And when she remembered what happened before passing out she turned around and looked at her friends with a terrified expression on her face.
“D-d-did- did you-? How? Why are you t-two-?” Her voice turned into mumbles and squeaks after that.  
The uncomfortable silence returned, none of them knowing what to say. Fluttershy was staring at the floor mumbling something her friends couldn’t understand ant Twilight did not know how to talk about what they just witnessed without scaring their shy friend. Getting sick of the silence, Dash said
“I never knew you were such an amazing drummer Flutters” Fluttershy stopped mumbling and after some seconds she slowly raised her head
“Am I good? Really?” she almost whispered
“Good? Good is not even half of what I just saw. You were incredible! I can barely believe it!” Dash said in an excited manner
“I- I’m still learning. I still have a lot to learn” Fluttershy said a bit louder and with a smile on her face. But her friends couldn’t notice it. Twilight finally joined the conversation
“Fluttershy, can I ask you a favor?” Fluttershy looked at her unicorn friend
“Oh, um, sure. What is it?”
“Can you please take off that mask? It’s kind of creeping me out”
“Oh! Sorry!” Fluttershy quickly took the mask off of her face. -“I didn’t know I still had it on my face” Fluttershy nervously giggled and fell silent again. But Dash took care of keeping the conversation going
“Sooooo… Do you mind if I ask why are you playing Slipknot songs in a secret basement?” Twilight turned her head towards her tomboyish friend
“Rainbow!”
“What? I just want to know”
Fluttershy simply answered “I always liked that kind of music” Rainbow and Twilight just stared at her friend, both absolutely confused.
Fluttershy decided to explain further. “My dad always listened to classical music so I took my love for calm music from him, and my love for singing too. But my mom always loved heavy music, when she was my age she went to all of the live performances she could. She saw Pantera, Metallica, Megadeth and she even had her own band with her friends from high school. She was the drummer so she taught me how to play and she made me appreciate heavy metal music.” Fluttershy finished her story with a smile on her face. After a small silence, Twilight raised her arm. Both of her friends stared at her “Yes Twilight?” Fluttershy said
“And why are you wearing that costume?”
Dash decided to tease her friend “Oh, so now you are interested aren’t you Twi?”
“Sh-shut up” Twilight said.
Fluttershy started talking once again “Well, I heard Slipknot was looking for a new drummer so I wanted to see if I could make it there”
“WHAT!?” Both Twilight and Dash asked
“Wh-what is it?” Fluttershy asked nervously.
“You were planning on joining Slipknot?!” Dash asked “What about your stage fright? They are a very famous band. Do you have any idea of how many people goes to their shows?”
Fluttershy giggled and simply answered “But in this case that wouldn’t be a problem”
“How come?” The unicorn and pegasus asked at the same time
“Because they wear masks. If I tell them that I don’t want anyone to know who I am, then we could invent a fake name, I would dye my hair black and with the mask no one would know.”
“Ooooooooooooooh” was all they could say. It was a pretty clever plan they had to admit.
“But there’s still one problem” Dash said
“What problem?” Twilight asked
“They are humans, you are an anthro. I don’t know if they would be okay with an anthro joining their band.”
“Oh, you are right” Fluttershy’s sad tone made Rainbow regret her choice of words, but luckily Twilight was there to save the day
“But hey, not all humans are mean towards us anthros, you can ask Lyra about it and she’ll tell you everything” Twilight said smiling.
“She told once me some of them adore us. They called themselves… I can’t remember. It was something similar to brownies I think… but anyway, not all humans are bad. Maybe you get lucky Flutters” Dash said while lightly patting her shy friend on the shoulder.
“Thank you girls. I hope so” Fluttershy said and they shared a small group hug. Then a question came to Fluttershy’s mind -“Oh, why are you two here? I forgot to ask”
Twilight’s and Rainbow’s eyes snapped open -“GUMMY’S BIRTHDAY PARTY!!!” And with that they started dragging Fluttershy upstairs towards the door
“B-but girls I have to turn off the camera, and I have to get the black paint off my hair, and I have to change my clothes”
“That doesn’t matter! We have to go! NOW!” Dash said
“I just hope Pinkie’s hair is till fluffy” Twilight said as a shiver went down her spine
