Chapters Here I am laying in my bed. Not knowing what I am going to make of myself tomorrow. Am i going to go out into town, or I don't know study up on my duty's as an alicorn. All this seems so complicated to me. Someones opening the door I had better be quite.
"Roy are you still awake?" Celestia says as she pokes her head through the door.
"Yes." I reply trying to sound tired.
"I know our parents died, but i gotta tell you something they told me on their deathbeds when you were ou-" Celestia tries to finish, but i cut her off.
"What is it?" I reply in a tone that has a bit of impatience.
"Let me finish!" She spits back.
"Ok ok continue." I say trying to not get here too agitated.
"As I was saying Roy They wanted me to tell you after they died. That they had not figured out what you were born to do yet, so it's up to you to figure that out, but me and Luna are determined to help you figure out why you are here." She tries to explain in a caring tone.
"get out." I reply to her in a soft voice
"Why Roy?" Celestia asks wondering what has gotten into me
"Get Out!" I roar at her from under my blankets
Then and there celestia left me laying there with tears in my eyes. I didn't want her to see me cry, but why were my own parents unable to tell this to my face were they really that heartbroken they were unable to tell me so they sent celestia. . . I am unhappy with their decision I would have loved to see them in their final moments tell me they didn't figure out what i was supposed to do with my life, BUT NOW I'M LEFT WITH NOTHING. I scream out in frustration.
I woke up the next morning changed. I went grabbed my breakfast, and went back to my room locked the door with my wings and ate in silence while thinking to myself.
"Roy you sent for me, and can you open up." I look up with interest as the head of the guards finally knocks on the door.
"Sure" I reply trying to hint nothing to the plan I had just hatched.
I get out of bed and walk my way over to the door and unlock it.
"Why was the door locked? were you doing something?" The head of the guard tries to say this with a small grin popping onto his face.
"I was thinking about something." I replied thinking of how I should word what I was gonna say without hinting i was gonna escape during the rising of the moon tonight.
"About what?" The head guard asks with a bit too much curiosity.
"Learning how to fly." I finally tell him after thinking for 3 minutes.
"That is a difficult task my prince." He says to me a bit bewildered with what he just heard.
"I know it is that's why i want you to teach me." I tell him with the hint of plenty of impatience.
"Roy I don't think i c-" The head guard tries to tell me before i cut him off with raise of my hoove.
"It's an order not a suggestion." I reply with a tone of authority.
"yes my prince." Says the heard guard who isn't too happy about my decision.
So the head-guard takes me out to the fields that are just outside the castle.
"Ok Roy flying is a difficult thing to learn especially at your age you think you are up for the challenge" he tries to tell me this with a tone of this might be a bit too hard for you so why don't you stick to doing other things right now kind of tone.
"yes." I reply daringly.
"Good, so spread your wings a bit like this, because i know your wings are a bit stiff from no use, and stretch them out." The head guard tells me with enthusiasm since he now knows i'm not giving up until i learn how to fly.
I do what the head-guard tells me to do, and as i stretch my wings you can hear continues pops coming from the muscles that are screaming relief at last!
"That must mean they aren't stiff anymore."The head of the guards replies to me in a simple tone.
"They don't feel stiff." I tell him after the series of popping finishes.
"That's a good thing, because i want you to start jumping and fluttering your wings as hard, and as fast as you can." He replies to me trying to make it sound like a good way to learn.
"I feel like i'm going to look like a complete idiot." I say trying to not give up on this entire thing because i would have to do that.
"Many fillys feel like that when they start but it does work, so I want you to try it." He says as he sits down like hes ready for a circus show.
So there I was stumbling in the field trying to learn how to fly, but who knew the guards technique actually worked I was able to hover for about 10 seconds, but no more.
"I finally floated right?" I am barely able to sputter out as I start regaining my breath.
"That was just floating. Flying is much more difficult." He says while biting the side of his lip trying to not fall on the floor and start laughing.
"Uuuuugh." I say even more unenthusiastic than before.
"at least you have floating down." He says trying to cheer me up a bit more before we start the next exercise.
"Ya just give me a sec I need to catch my breath." I reply still with barely enough air in my tiny lungs.
"Ok but when you finally get your breath back i want you to throw your body weight in the direction your trying to fly." He says finally able to stop laughing and ready for another onslaught of laughter.
Once again i was looking like an idiot I could hear Luna all the way from a castle tower laughing her ass off. Oh how much I wanted to stop doing this, but it did pay out in the end with me being able to fly for a simple 15 minutes at a speed of 5 mph.
"Ok my prince that is all I can teach you, you must practice if your going to be able to fly longer and faster." He says walking back into the castle laughing like a maniac.
"I'm going to leave that for another time." I reply tired of being laughed at today
I headed back to my chambers being too lazy to close the doors behind me. I fell down on my bed with such a thud the guard at the entrance to my room peaked in. Luna walked in after sharing a few words with the guard outside, then walked in.
"HELLO ROY!" Luna says in her regular booming voice.
"MY EARS!" I scream trying to sound just as loud.
"My bad i forgot to stop doing that. . . . everywhere." She replies as we both hear the guard at the front of my room chuckling.
"As long as you don't do it in a closed area i'm ok with it but in my room you shatter pony brains while doing that." I say gaining my ear drums back.
"I said sorry." Luna replies with a sheepish grin on her face.
"I know just wanted to make sure you knew that you forget to stop doing that around me." I say reminding her of what she did.
"Enough talk of me shattering your ears and more talk about what i wanted to talk about. I saw you hopping around earlier." Luna says with her grin slowly spreading.
"Don't you dare." I say as she starts to open her mouth.
""You looked so ridiculous i was rolling on the tower floor crying." Luna says as i lay on my bed staring at her laughing as she relives the memory
Then and there you could hear celestia's voice throughout the castle "LUNA COME RAISE THE MOON!", and that ended our conversation as Luna kinda stumbled out of my room, and as the moon rose i saw my chance because the whole castle turned pitched black then, and there I shot out of the room with all the force i could grabbed my pack, and jumped out the window.That is what i was thinking of doing in my room when it was locked. It was the only way I was going to get out of the castle, and find my purpose.
So with my small wings, and my pack I flew away from the castle in canterlot away from almost everything I owned away from my sisters away from safety away from my regular life away from who I use to be.
I am well away from the castle now I am sure I can hear my sisters screaming at my guards, and sending out patrols. From here on out I have to keep my head or else my efforts will be failed, because i'm in a wide open field flying while there are five dozens of patrols out looking for me let's just hope that I am small enough to not be noticed.
Today was a bit of a breeze. No patrols flew near enough to notice me, but it night time now and if i use magic to light up the area around me or make a fire i'm sure to be noticed, so I will have to wait out the night in the dark. Hold up I hear rustling in a few bushes nearby.
Overreaction it was just a small rabbit, but if there is rabbit here there must be a forest near, because fields don't have much plants to feed them other than grass.
There is a forest near me, but it looks way too dark, and spooky. At the least it will be a good ge-
"THERE'S THE PRINCE AFTER EM!" Says one of the guards in the patrol.
They found me my only options are either go into this haunted looking forest or just surrender.
"GOOD LUCK WITH CATCHING ME!" I yell backwards as i move fast toward the forest hearing them chatter about not going into it.
I plunge into the dark forest with no regrets, and no second thoughts about what I had just done, and what kind of hell I was about put myself through.
It only took me a few seconds to lose them. I wonder how sometimes but they must have lost track of me in the darkness, or behind a dark tree.
I have only been here for at least an hour, and i have heard many things other ponies screaming a clucking of a chicken, and the loud bellow of a horrifying beast was it the hydra my sisters told stories about? I head in the direction of the screaming ponies seeing if I could help at all. I peak through a bush at the screaming pony, and it doesn't even look like a pony it looks more like a big Alicorn with holes all through it's body doing some things I don't understand, like what is that 2nd hole in that things rear, and what is coming out of it? Then it finally spotted me
"CHANGELINGS AFTER IT!" She screams with all her might looking at me, and pointing with a hoove that has a hole in it.
In that split second of fear I changed from an alicorn to a pegasus saving my life from a lifetime of I don't know what.
"Oh wait it's one of us let him be." Queen chrysalis says thinking that me changing from a alicorn to a pegasus was a perk of being a changeling.
I poke my head out of the bushes and sprint the other way. What had I just done? Why am I not an alicorn anymore? I have no idea how to get my horn back i'm just hoping i can figure out how to get my horn back.
Later on after a few hours of walking I stop near a cave with a few torches in it. I stop by the cave sit at the entrance, and open my pack. While my horn conveniently comes back making me an alicorn again. I take out a large rounded apple and chow down until its nothing but core, after that I take out a canteen full of water to wash it all down. Before i could take a 4th gulp of water a furry paw takes the canteen from my magical grasp.
"Hey pipsqueak what are you doing here alone? You lost your mom? Your dad? Or are you just plain stupid." The first diamond dog said all this with a mocking tone that i didn't like while two of others came up behind him.
"Can I have my drink back that all I need and i'll be leaving." I asked wanting to leave these poor fools alone.
"Hey what did ya find?" Says the more chubbier of the three who clearly couldn't see.
"This pipsqueak sitting here drinking our water." Says the first one who greeted me earlier with a large grin.
"What do you mean your water." I say this with a statement and an air of annoyance. While slowly levitating a large branch behind one of the skinnier diamond dogs
"I see your an alicorn what are you doing away from the castle, or are you just one of those wretched changelings?" Says the one who hadn't talked the entire time.
"All I need is my canteen, and i will be leaving as i just said." I say with with a growing air of annoyance.
"Pipsqueak I'll be keeping this and you will be coming with me, because you can't just sit here lounging in front of our cave like it's some kind of hotel" Says the first diamond dog that talked to me.
That's when I finally ran out of every drop of patience I had.
"I'M NOT GOING ANYWHERE!" I scream at them from where I sat.
That is when i launched myself at the first one while the large stick fell on the two others heads. I could feel his large claws ripping at my skin until i started bucking him in the face with me hooves, and i may not have been the strongest but i kept bashing at has skull until i didn't feel any resistance. I looked back, and saw a terrifying sight. The diamond dog's face was completely caved in and pieces, and bits of flesh brain and face lay on the ground. After all this I looked down at my back hooves and saw they were completely covered in blood that was already drying. It felt different ending a life a strange sensation that felt good, and bad at the same time. I think this experience changed me more than it should have.
I found myself in the heart of the forest with all kinds of strange creatures. I heard a twig snap, and I snapped my head in that direction. The fear levels sky rocketed as i saw a horde of changeling coming my way. Instantly I bolted in the other direction fearing for what would happen if I stopped I got caught by surprise by a few of them cutting me off from the right, as they tackled me down I casted a teleportation spell that drained me of most of my energy so I did the only thing I could think of in that split second I flew high into the sky above the trees, and away from the changelings. To my surprise the changeling's wings could actually help them fly I was just a split faster than them though.
I have been flying for too long and my wings are about to give out while the changelings are still chasing me with no signs of tiredness. 30 minutes of flying has drained me. I cant fly anymore my own weight topples me to the ground through the branches, and through the top of a hut.
I lay on the floor staring at black, and white hooves. Who is this pony, and why do they live in this accursed forest? She spoke to me after finishing whatever she was doing for a few minutes. "Who is this pony that has popped in through my roof for a visit?" She said in a curious tone. "You seem to have been going through the forest alone at such a young age my little pony." She says as she finally turns around to stare down at me. "Do my eyes fail me or is this the little alicorn who ran off from the castle the other day?" She said staring from my horn to my wings. With the little amount of energy I had left I replied "You can't take me back there. I would rather spend the rest of my life in this forest if i have to." I finish up my sentence with a huff and puff. "No need for any hasty movements your already in bad enough shape." She replied helping me onto a bed.
"So your name is Zecora, and your a zebra in Equestria. I thought zebras lived else where, and not in Equestria." I tell her while the feeling starts to come back from my numb wings. "Yes, and do you mind telling me your name little alicorn, and why you ran away from the castle?" Zecora asked mixing a few herbs in a mixing bowl. "Me, Celestia, and Luna's parents died, and the night after Celestia came to where i was suppose to be sleeping on that horrid night. She told me that my parents were unable to figure out what I was supposed to with my life before they died. What really got me angry was they didn't tell it to my face. My own parents were unable to, so there's your reason." I say all this in an unhappy tone that probably sounded a bit hostile to Zecora. "Now drink this up my little pony it will help you recover your strength, because enduring the everfree forest at such a young a age is a big task, so you will need all the strength you can get back right now." Zecora says dropping a foul smelling bowl of mashed herbs on the counter near me.
With no hint at all a blue pegasus with a rainbow mane and tail crashes through the window, and that pegasus is being tailed by a completely pink earth pony with a floppy tongue with purple dots on it, right behind is a yellow pegasus with a pink mane, and tail, tailing her were three other ponies, a purple unicorn with a floppy looking horn, an orange earth pony with a farm hat on, and a unicorn that looked like she had cut her hair into dreadlocks all around her body. "Zecora we may or may not have accidentally ran into poison joke again." Said the yellow pony or stallion in a male voice. "Step into the other room please." Said Zecora. They all walked by me, and only the pink pony with the floppy tongue gave me a curious look so i shrunk a bit under the covers.
After watching Zecora carry in a few big buckets of tomato sauce to the other room I started blocking them out and trying to figure out how to change my self from an alicorn to a unicorn. Through a series of sparks of pain from trying too hard my horn shrank back into my head. As I changed from an alicorn to a unicorn the pink ponies head popped out from the door, and stared directly at me while I had no idea she was watching.
"Zecora! You have a changeling in your bed! You can hear her scream this at the top of her lungs which threw me in a panic, and i kind of fell out of the bed onto my face. "No no pinkie this is actually a pony I don't see him as a changeling." She says this as she looks down at me without my horn. "Are you a changeling or are you not?" She says to me to confirm i'm a alicorn. At this note I nod my head slowly. "You see pinkie I don't know if he has any unnatural abilities or not but he is no changeling, because he was being chased by a horde the other day.
Finally all the other ponies I saw from earlier burst through the door at the hearing of a changeling. "I heard there was a changeling where is he and I will show him a good buck or two!" said the farm pony with the hat. Pinkie pointed down at me. "Would you please stop calling me a changeling I have had a rough time these past few days, and I don't need anymore struggles for my life." I say this in a tired tone which put them all in a state of confusion. Until they finally huddled together, and started discussing in hushed tones. While they were doing that I helped my self back into the bed. Until we all heard a loud series of thuds on the door. Zecora trotted over to the door, and opened it revealing a gray pony with some derpy looking eyes. She gave Zecora the mail, and Zecora bid her farewell. "Roy is this you?" She says as she hands me the mail. A look of complete horror creeps onto my face. "I want to see too!" Exclaimed the pink pony as she snatched the mail, and looked at it thoroughly with all the other ponies,pegasi, and unicorns. They all looked over at me with an expression on their face that said 'we know' which was not a good thing for me. So I did the best thing i could do at the time. I jumped out the broken window and tried to fly away, but apparently the blue pegasus was one step ahead. She grabbed me, and wrestled me back to the hut.
When I had finally settled down they dragged me over to the other room, and locked the door behind them. " So prince you thought you could get away." Said the blue pegasus with a small grin. "Yes" I replied plainly. "Zecora i'm going to take him back he needs to go back to the castle now." Said the purple unicorn with a worried expression. "Your not taking me back there!" I reply in a desperate tone trying to wrestle my way to the door, and out of the powerful farm pony's grip. "Why is that." said the white unicorn that has a purple mane. "Because I promised myself to not go back there until I figured out why I was brought into this world!" I reply after I finally stop struggling. "Well we can't continue this conversation today because we have important stuff to do so we will continue this conversation tomorrow, and we hope all your hostility will be out of your system by then.
They all leave the room, and out of the hut with me just sitting there to think to myself, and wonder should I stay in this hut or should I leave, and forget about this completely. The choice had to be made soon.
I debated with myself furiously that night wondering if I should stay, and risk being taken back to celestia, or jump out the window and get out of here while I still can. Judging from what happened that one night in the forest I decided to stay, and risk it all.
That morning Zecora approached me putting my mind half at ease. "Roy I am glad you have chosen to stay, and talk it out with those ponies, because I know them, and they won't take you back to canterlot. Unless something changed about all of them overnight, but I need you to do something for me right now since they aren't here yet." Zecora told all this to me in a reassuring tone that I kinda trusted, and I kinda didn't trust it all. "Whenever you can I need you to go pick an herb for me there is a sample on the counter near you." On that note she left the room. I raise my head, and pick up the strange plant with magic. It has a thick green bulb at it's tip, with blue spots on the stem,and a aroma of sweet syrup. I grab my pack, and stuff everything I have to one side after that I was on my way out the door.
I had to go pretty deep into the forest before I started finding any, and it only came in small bunches as in one or two at a time. When i had finally found a big clump of them I heard a rustling in the bushes beside me. It must be a bunny from last time I thought. I thought that until it tackled me onto the ground. When I had gotten a good glimpse of it I figured it was a changeling that was much bigger than me, but it seemed to not have a lot of stamina, because it's looked shriveled up to the point where you could tell the changeling hadn't eaten for 5 days. The changeling pinned me down fast, and placed a rough of hoove on my throat, and started to press down harder every second. Before the changeling could cut off my air supply completely I gained some self control and placed my back hooves on it's stomach, and flipped it over onto it's back. The changeling got up unscathed, and charged at me, but this time I was ready. I moved to the left before it could hit me, and I rammed it into a boulder. I turned around and prepared to deliver the finishing blow with a good buck to the face. The changeling knew what I was gonna do, so it placed both of it's hooves on both of my back hooves. We both entered a competition of strength, and stamina. Neither of us faltered for a complete minute, until the changeling finally started to pant, and his hooves started to wiggle with fatigue. I took this as a chance so I picked up a rock with magic, but the changeling cut off my supply of magic with it's own by putting a green ring of magic around my horn. While the changeling was distracted I pushed my hooves even harder with the determination of not losing this fight. With success I was able to send my back hooves into the changelings chest making the changeling vomit it's last meal, and a terrifying amount of blood along with the blood pouring out of it's chest. The changeling slumps to one side as it's eyes roll over telling me it's dead.
"Well I knew such a little colt had it in him." Said a voice from behind some bushes. I turn my head, and see six figures approaching me. It was the six ponies I saw yesterday. "What do you mean?" I reply in an angered tone. "What I mean is that i'm surprised a little colt like you could take out one of twilight's changeling clones like that." Said the blue pegasus emerging from behind the canopy into the clearing where all the blood was still at. "Are you sure that wasn't real, because there is plenty of blood pouring out of it's carcass." I tell the blue pegasus with a packet of salt in my voice. "Oh the changeling clone packs everything a changeling can do it's quite helpful sometimes." Says the purple unicorn that must be Twilight. "Ok then tell me why you tried to kill me with it!" I tell twilight while slowly walking forward quite annoyed. "We wanted to see if you were a changeling or not, and this was a good way to do that." Said Pinkie bouncing up, and down cheerful as usual.
"Could you at the least tell me your names before we continue this conversation." I asked all of them as we walked back towards Zecora's hut. "I'm rainbow dash fastest pegasus in equestria!" Said Rainbow in a boasting voice. "I'm pinkie pie the best party pony you will ever meet!" Said pinkie in a tone telling me she wants party. "I'm twilight sparkle Celestia's most faithful student" Said Twilight in a tone that explains nothing about her usual self. "I'm fluttershy." Said Fluttershy as she hovers above everyone. "I am rarity the most fashionable pony in all of ponyville." Said Rarity in a simple happy tone. "And i'm applejack of sweet apple acres." Says Applejack licking her lips probably thinking about apples.
We finally arrive at Zecora's hut, and she welcome us back in while taking the herb out of one side of my bag. "Roy what is that on your hooves?" Zecora asked me in a curious way. "Blood." I simply reply. "why do you have blood on your hooves?" Zecora asks me in a tone of what did you possibly do to get blood on your hooves. "Zecora it was a clone I made to make sure he wasn't a changeling." Twilight told Zecora. "Can we just get to discussing if you guys are taking me to canterlot or not please?" I tell them all in a tone that tells them I want to get this over with. "We obviously are not gonna take you Roy, because you easily outwitted that changeling, and you have already outwitted everyone in that castle once all ready so we don't need you getting celestia all upset again." Applejack told me with a tone that confirmed it was the truth. "Good now i'm going to sleep that fight drained me of all my energy." I reply in a tired tone as I leave the room and slip into bed hearing "Good Night!" behind me from all of them. Today was a day of approval, and I had certainly gained the approval, while achieving those six ponies trust.
What PinkiePie does for fun
That morning I was woken up by PinkiePie of all ponies it was PinkiePie. No matter, because she put anyone in a cheerful mood around. This is what she said when I had finally completely woken up after 5 minutes of vigorous shaking "Roy do you want to see sugarcube corner since you are always stuck in this creepy forest?" She asked me while hopping around shaking my room with ever more intensity with every hop. "Sure Pinkie I have always wanted to see a place other than this accursed place I happened to run in on my second day away from the castle." I replied trying my best to say it clearly with all the hopping, and shaking. "But there is one thing that prevents me from leaving." I said as she finally stopped hopping around making everything much clearer, and easier to say. "Well Roy it's a good thing I brought this!" Pinkie said as she threw a cloak over me that covered just enough of me, so you could tell that I wasn't the escaped prince. "ok Roy now since that problem is solved let's GO!" Pinkie said as she hopped out of my room, and out of the hut with me following right behind.
I finally see a small light out of the forest. The same forest that I thought had no end, because when we finally left the forest I saw a small cottage with many animals lounging around it. Pinkie led me into the town where I got many curious stares which got me a bit nervous to the point where I started sweating under the cloak. "Don't worry Roy no pony will figure out your a alicorn unless you unfold your wings." She said in a hushed tone next to me. After about 15 more minutes of walking, and 15 more minutes of getting strange stares we finally made it where Pinkie wanted to go. I let out a breath of relief as we went inside. It's a good feeling not being the center of attention all the time.
Pinkie ran downstairs grabbed something, and ran up as fast as she could. Pinkie had a cupcake in her hand that smelled like it was just made. "Eat up Roy!" Pinkie said with a very cheerful tone. I spent the next few minutes enjoying the cupcake, and all of it's deliciousness. "PinkiePie were heading out now see you in a bit just gotta get a bit of supplies from fillydelphia." Said a pony who I didn't know who was blue with a yellow pony at her side with a very small filly, and colt on her back. "BYE!" Said Pinkie shattering any ears in the shop as she waved to the blue, and yellow ponies. "Ok Roy back to what I was about to tell you. Do you want to see how to make a cupcake?" Pinkie said in a tone as if she was trying to hide something. "Sure." I said not knowing what kind of pain I was about to go through from this insane pink pony standing in front of me.
Pinkie led me down a set of stairs when I clearly saw a kitchen upstairs. "Pinkie aren't cupcakes made in a kitchen." I said. When I heard no reply for a few moments I called out to her. "Pinkie?" I still got no reply from the pink pony. As I finally reached the bottom of the stairs a force launched me into the nearby wall with such force it shattered one of my ribs. I let out a soft groan not wanting my assailant to know what pain I was going through in that moment before the adrenaline kicked in.
The lights flicked on, and I saw the worst thing you could see from a cheerful pink pony. Corpses sitting in chair, heads hung like decorations, blood like party paint, and organs as streamers. Blood was everywhere, and on that note I was hurling everything I had just ate from now, and yesterday. "Awww Roy you think my decorations are disgusting. What a shame. We could have been good buddies knowing that you are able to hold yourself against things twice your size." The pink pony said stepping out of a closet wearing a suit made of pegasus wings,cutie marks, and a necklace of horns.
"Roy two can keep a secret but one of us has to die who will it be now that you know my secret?" That was all she said as she took a scalpel off a nearby table. I launched myself in the direction of the door, but she was bigger than me, and a whole lot faster, because before I got 5 feet from the door she had already shut it, and barred it closed. I had no choice but to hold my ground as the pink pony slowly came closer to me. When she was finally close enough she lunged at me with the scalpel in her mouth. She caught me off guard with more strength than I thought she had, and she quickly tumbled me over, and stabbed me on my arm.
I woke up later, because after I got stabbed I fell asleep quickly. The scalpel must have been covered in some kind of substance that put you to sleep. "Hello Roy it seems like you were not able to take me down so I guess I will be the one not dieing while you do." She said all of this with the most horrifying grin anypony could make scaring the living hell outta me. "Awww don't be too scared Roy I will just make this a slow death. A nice, and painful one too." Said Pinkie slowly advancing upon me while picking up a scalpel.
First thing she did to me was whisper a few things in my ear that I could barely hear, but I could make up a few words of it. It sounded like she said "Your Number" or something like that I could barely tell. She put the scalpel on a table looking disappointed. "Roy! I thought you had your cutie mark already, because I thought you were a prince. Apparently your a prince without a cutie mark. At the least I have never tasted alicorn before." I figured out what that cupcake I had tasted earlier was made of which made me vomit through the gag in my mouth. "Oh! It seems like you figured out what my cupcakes are made of now you really gotta die." Said the pink pony with her terrifying grin on her face growing larger.
She picked the scalpel back up, and plunged it into my flank sending waves of pain throughout my body. I couldn't do anything about it except let the tears of pain flow. I tried to use magic once but she dropped the scalpel, and took my horn in her mouth, and bit on it. In fear of her biting it off my horn, and wings disappeared. "Well Roy your full of surprises aren't you?" Pinkie said noticing my wings, and horn are gone.
Pinkie went to the other side of the room, and looked through a whole lot of cases. My horn reappeared as I feared for my life. I used every ounce of magic I could to unbar the door, and take this stupid gag off. Now here was the tricky part i had barely learned how to teleport with magic. Pouring every drop of magic, and energy I had into my horn I was able to teleport to the door as Pinkie turned around, and put on a look of pure rage.
"This is a PARTY you can not leave ROY!" On that note I hurled myself through the door, and up the stairs, out the door. I did all this with Pinkie right behind me. I through off my cloak to slow Pinkie down which surprisingly worked, because I heard her stumble a bit behind me. I made it out of the door, and immediately heard a pony exclaim they found the prince as my wings appeared on my side. I started charging forward not caring if anything was in the way, because after a few seconds of building up speed, and charging through things I hurled my self up into the air, and flew away from that hell hole they call sugarcube corner.
I had finally made it to Zecora's hut with no guards tailing me. I flew in through the door, and towards my room catching Zecora a bit off guard as she stumbled backwards. I closed the door, and locked it behind me. I went towards my bed, and I sat on it for a bit before I decided to close my eyes, and try to forget today.
I wasn't able to sleep long, because after a few minutes of trying to sleep a hoove clamped over my mouth, and whispered in my ear. "Ok Roy I see that you are smarter than you look, but if you wish to live longer, and not die right now in your bed I suggest you keep quiet about this, and everything that just happened to you. Got it?" Said a familiar voice that struck me with horror. I slowly nod before I felt a sharp pain by my mouth, and a wet tongue. "You don't taste too bad either." Is what Pinkie said before she left me there with blood dripping from a cut near my mouth.
With what happened the other day with Pinkie, and eating another pony I decided to avoid her, and the other 5 for awhile. So I spent most of my time sitting outside meditating learning more about myself while figuring out how to use my magic more effectively, and easily without much complications.
By the 5th day of meditation I was teaching myself how to locate living things around me with magic. It took quite the bit of energy to do so, but it did pay off in the near future. With locating things out of the way I decided to wander around the everfree for awhile. I did see a few unusual sights like a hydra facing away from me, a horde of parasprites, and the same diamond dogs that annoyed me on my first day into the everfree forest. A club came whirling at me, and hit me in the head knocking me out.
I woke up later in a cell made of bamboo or some other hard substance. "Look he finally woke up brother." Said a diamond dog that sounded a bit familiar. "I see, but what should we do with this pony who has killed our other brother?" Said the diamond dog sitting by the other chubby one. "I suggest we stick a knife in his rear, and watch him squirm." Said the chubby diamond dog. "Oh it's you two idiots again. Could you just release me so I don't have to kill you both as well." I said feeling already annoyed at these two diamond dogs idiocy. "Pony you have a lot of foolishness to talk to us like that." Said the skinnier diamond dog pulling out a knife. "You don't even know the way out of our tunnels anyway foolish pony." Said the chubbier diamond dog pulling out a sharpened throwing dagger. I tried to move to make an attack on them but I figured out my hooves were chained down. "Well seems your all chained down aren't ya? well we will make this a slow, and painful death you fool." Said the chubbier diamond dog preparing to throw the knife as the bars started to rise.
When the bars were unable to be seen he threw the knife. I was ready, and waiting for him to do that the entire time, because I used the magic I had been training for the last few weeks to catch the knife in midair, and slit his throat with it. The other diamond dog sat there stunned, but not too long to be unable to start running at me with his knife. I slid a few rocks in his path with magic making him trip, and fling the knife a few feet away from me. I picked up the knife with my mouth, and cut some of the chains while the diamond dog got back up only to be silenced by the throwing dagger in the back of his skull.
I got up when all the chains were cut off of me. I used the locating magic to see if there were any more diamond dogs coming my way. Indeed there was, so I took the throwing dagger out of the back of the diamond dogs head. I tested the sharpness of both the knife, and dagger, but the dagger had a lot more edge, and even more sharpness than the knife. I started hearing paw steps pounding down the corridor. Thinking fast I flew to the roof, and stayed there for a bit until I saw three diamond dogs standing, and looking at their fallen. I made my move while one of them were looking in my cell. I launched the knife at the nearest diamond dog with magic, and I fell on top of the other while hitting the cell's lever to close it. One of them dropped dead while the other was pushing me off. Before he could push me off of him I bucked him in the face until I felt no resistance.
I ran toward the direction of the light which opened up into a massive cave. At the bottom of the crater I could see many diamond dogs digging to make the place wider. I stared downwards until I heard a screech from above which meant that we were just below the surface. I sent small rocks into the middle of the ceiling trying to bust it open to see the light of day. I sent bigger rock after bigger rock trying to bust the ceiling open before the diamond dogs started noticing, but the stupidity of the diamond dogs didn't let them notice until I was hurling boulders at the ceiling with magical intensity.
The ceiling finally burst open as diamond dogs started making it onto the floor I was on. I jumped off the platform, and spread my much larger wings leaving this foul smelling place, and back to the surface I went.
I made it back to Zecora's hut after about an hour or two of walking. "Roy where have you been I have been looking for you, for days." Said Zecora picking a few plants near the hut. "I have been out training my body, and mind to handle this forest." I reply to her. "Well I need you to pick some herbs, because I am running pretty low from treating a little filly with the cutie pox." Said Zecora who kept moving farther away to look for herbs. "Ok Zecora it's the least I can do since you are supplying me with a home until I leave." Is the last thing I say before I grab my pack, and fly towards the area that is usually blooming with many plants, and herbs.
I had finally made it to the spot where I used magic to sense any presence nearby, but the life form I sensed was one that I didn't want to see today. Pinkamena walked out of the bushes with no weapons, or any hostility which felt a bit strange since she tried to kill me, and turn me into a cupcake about a month ago. "Well Roy your certainly shaping up into a strong alicorn, but I have figured out why you have been able to survive for so long at your age. It's not skill, not instinct it's more of a lust for blood you desire don't you?" Said Pinkie with an accusing tone. "I have been getting more accustomed to seeing blood around me, but I don't see why you accuse me of having bloodlust Pinkie." I say as Pinkie looks me over. "Oh Roy just admit it look at yourself you have blood in your mane, and on your hooves right now." Pinkie finally said after she finished her thorough investigation. "That's a different story I had to fight my way through a cavern of diamond dogs Pinkie i'm done here. Talk to me when you finally have sorted yourself out from being insane." I say as I pick my pack up that is full of herbs, and fly away.
Tour of the rainbow factory
I'm flying back to Zecora's hut with all the herbs she asked for the last time I was there, but I started seeing rain clouds gather above the everfree forest in less than a heartbeat, so I had to fly down to the ground to not get struck by lightning. On the way down though I thought I saw two figures flying through the clouds. I ignored the figures, because the figures were probably pegasi moving the clouds over the forest. I finally came in sight of the hut, before I use sensing magic to see if Zecora was inside. I sense two things neither of them are Zecora or anyone I know. I walk towards a window, and peek into it. Laying down on a couch was a tough looking stallion with wings who was wearing a suit with a rainbow over his chest talking to a pony in a part of the house I couldn't see. "What if he doesn't show up, before Zecora gets back from wherever she is at?" Said the stallion who actually sounded a bit worried. "Oh hush you work at the rainbow factory, and there is no room for weaklings, and if there were, we would never be able to get anything done." Said the pony who was moving closer towards the window. I duck down before she can peer out the window. "I could have swore somepony was just out here." Said the pony sounding confused. "That's, because it's who we are here for." Said a voice right next to me.
"Hello Roy." The stallion said before tackling me down. I wasn't able to push him off in time, before the pony who actually is a pegasus wearing a mask came outside with a pretty big black bag. I flapped my wings to get out from under the stallion which worked to a certain extent before the bag was dropped over my head, and over my body tied all the way down to where my hooves were.
I am still sitting in this bag unable to do a thing right now, but i'm just going to hope that these two pegasi don't take me back to canterlot where I would have to deceive everyone I knew again for the 2nd time which would probably shatter them.
We finally stopped moving after about 4 hours of nonstop flying, and the pegasi don't sound tired at all in fact they sound like there buzzing with energy as I hear them chat about random stuff as we start walking toward something, at one point they started talking about pinkie's cupcakes those terrible creations that shouldn't even be possible to make or exist.
There is a large door opening i'm hoping that it's not canterlot's gigantic white doors. The bag opens up. With no warning I immediately drop on a hard metal floor, and let out a groan of pain. "I have to say RD this colt here actually did put up a fight." Said the stallion flying towards the masked pegasus, and who is this RD? "I expected nothing less from Roy anyway." Said the masked pegasus removing her mask revealing a blue pegasus with a rainbow mane. "RainbowDash you could have just asked me to come here you know!" I tell her unhappily. "Well if I told you what we did here you would never want to come here, and check it out." Said Rainbow who was busy putting numbers into a machine. "Ok Roy step this way please." Said Rainbow walking through a door that slid open as she approached.
We entered a room that had a lot of machines, and some tubes filled with bright colors from a rainbow. "Welcome Roy to a place called the Rainbow Factory. A place where we well you will figure out in the next chamber." Said Rainbow as she flew around checking things making sure everything is running properly. Rainbow walks into the other room, and signals me to follow. What I am seeing right now is terrible. Ponies being extracted of life turned into rainbows. "RainbowDash can you explain to me why a rainbow is made out of life? Can you please, because I am not understanding why you do this don't you weather pegasi have special rainbow making equipment?" I told her as I looked around the room as life turns into colors of the rainbow, before they are transported elsewhere. "Because Roy if we only used the special equipment there would not be enough rainbows in equestria." Said RainbowDash flying back to the ground after talking with an employee at the Rainbow Factory. "Well why did you bring me here if you already knew I would not like it." I told Rainbow looking away. "Because Roy we need you to not meddle in our affairs, and Pinkie already told us you know how to cheat death more than once, so we won't be attempting to turn you into a rainbow, even though a young alicorn probably could produce a multitude of rainbows by themselves." Said RainbowDash who seems a bit interested now. "If you don't mind Rainbow I will be taking my leave now." I said turning away about to head out the door. "Ok then I will have one of the employees let you out. Just don't get seen by any passing pegasi." Rainbow told me as she ordered someone to open the door for me to leave.
I walk out of the factory dazed by what I just saw. A factory devoted to killing ponies, and turning them into rainbows, and i thought rainbows were supposed to be happy.
Apparently not, because now rainbows mean nothing to me anymore if they are made from life essence from a pony.
I decided to fly low today, and heed Rainbow Dash's warning of not being seen by other pegasi.
I have to admit I was quite far from the Everfree. Farther than I thought anyway, because it took me awhile before I even came into view of it. I dropped downwards, and went back towards Zecora's hut. I heard things on the way back, but none of them fazed me anymore, because first time I came here I was scared of everything, but after awhile you get used to the forest, and you learn to cope with it, and all it's hazards. I see the hut, and I prepare to teleport to it, because my hooves hurt, and i'm tired for today.
Here I am sitting in a clearing in the middle of the Everfree Forest meditating. I was meditating in that clearing for about an hour or three before I got hungry, and headed back to Zecora's hut.
As I neared the hut I cast the detection magic, and no pony is there except Zecora, and a guest I think I don't know who though. I open the door to Zecora's hut, and see her chatting with a very bright green unicorn. "So your that alicorn who ran off from the castle." She told me kinda interested, kinda uninterested. "Well i'm not interested in alicorns, and such i'm more interested in anthropology the study of humans, so you have nothing to fear from me." She said as she stood straight up, and thanked Zecora for having her over, and she kinda just walked out standing up.
"Roy your getting too big to stay in my hut sooner or later your gonna have to either live in ponyville or go back to canterlot." Zecora told me as she got up, and walked over to the other room. She always says things at the most random of times I still kinda don't get her, and how long have I been living here? After grabbing my second pack from my room that was full of supplies from canterlot's castle I head back outside, and back to the clearing.
I got up, and thought about paying twilight a little visit, and look at some of the spell books she has in the library she lives in. I find my usual route out of the clearing. I start using the detecting magic, because you can never be too careful especially in the Everfree Forest. I detect a bit of changelings as in five or six to my right but they are too far away for me to have any trouble with them. Until a sudden ring of green appears on my horn shutting off my magic while it was in use building it's power up. I hear a few things coming towards me so I slip into a bush to hide myself. Two changelings came out of the canopy on the other side of this small area, and immediately started closing in on me. While I was busy keeping my eyes trained on those two from the inside of a bush the other four jumped at me from behind, knocking me through the bush, and into the other two.
They were most unhappy to have me on top of them they both pushed me off, before I could hit any of them. I got up fast enough to move out of the way of three of there attacks before I flew into the air where a changeling immediately grabbed my leg to pull me down. With their combined effort three of them pulled me out of the air I fell on top of two of them, but the third one bucked me in face. I pushed it back with my wings but the other two knocked me over. The other three changelings advanced upon me quickly biting one of my legs, back, and ear I shrugged them off, and flew upwards, because I could swear my head was about to burst full of magical energy, because this green ring stopped me in the middle of a spell.
I decided to try using magic again with all the magic that had built up to over come the changeling magic. My horn started to glow with a brighter light that got brighter after every second of trying to cast a spell. The changelings didn't know what to make of this, so they flew up towards me to take me down, but the moment they all got close they froze in place, and started to shiver, and scream with terrible blood curdling cries of pain. They all started to float back down to ground along with me. When we all were on the ground I decided to see if i could kill them all with a bit more magic. On that note I started pushing more magic past the green ring on my horn, by that moment all the changelings were screaming louder than ever. One changelings head popped off immediately sending blood all over the ground as the body falls down after i release it from my magical grip. The second changeling started throwing up blood uncontrollably whenever i released it, it fell to the ground, and started to form a pool of blood. The last four slowly choked to death as I made my magic grip ever more forcefully two of their throats kinda exploded all over the place leaving bits, and pieces of lungs everywhere. Though there were now three heads rolling around on the ground, two dead bodies with no neck, one dead body with a clean cut from the neck, one dead body laying in a pool of blood, and guts, two dead bodies laying motionless on the ground after being choked.
I look at my self, and see i'm in no shape to marvel in my work, because I am covered from head to hoove from what seems to be the blood of the changelings. I run in the opposite direction of Zecora's hut to make sure I don't get seen like this. I found a spring nearby that washed off all the blood from my mane, and coat. "Well hello Roy didn't think I would see you here." Said a familiar voice behind me sounding a bit arrogant.
I turn around, and see Rarity laying face upwards in the spring. "Well don't just stare say hello." Rarity said with a bit of amusement on her face. "I really did not think I would see you this deep in the Everfree Forest Rarity." I said scrubbing the rest of the blood off, before she could look at me. "Why did you come to this spring anyway Roy?" Rarity asked curious. "Only reason why I would come to a spring to clean myself up after not bathing for awhile." I reply. "Twilight was looking for you earlier. Where were you?" Said Rarity changing the subject. "I was in the middle of the forest meditating in a clearing." I tell her getting out of the spring, and drying myself off. "So you were the big magical energy she felt weren't you?" Rarity asked me as she raised her head to see what I was doing. "Probably, because I was meditating for a long while channeling my magic to be stronger." I lied to her not wanting her to know the truth. "Well that's good alicorns should be strong, and I see you have also gotten much larger since the last time we met." Rarity told me after looking me over. "Yeah I have haven't I? Well I gotta get going I got something to go do." I tell Rarity before I leave. "Bye!" I hear Rarity call out as I ascend to the sky.
Leaving the Everfree Forest
At this point of my life I was about 17 or 18 in human years Lyra told me, and I was quite big for being that age. After Lyra left though I went into my room, and grabbed my pack. Zecora was right I am actually getting quite large to live here. I use the detecting magic to see if Zecora is home. She isn't, so I leave her a message with a pen using magic to write down the message on a scroll.
I walk out of the door, and head towards the exit of the Everfree Forest towards Ponyville where I know I can live in peace, and partially safety. I stop casting magic after I felt the first presence of a changeling, because I don't want to believe in pinkie that I have bloodlust. I stick to the canopy, and not the path to heighten the chance of me not running into any hostile creatures. My efforts were futile, because a changeling wandered onto the road, and started looking around, until it saw my darkened blue coat in the canopy.
When the changeling launched itself at me I was ready to stop it, because the changeling didn't come anywhere near me as I stop it in it's tracks with magic. I push it against a tree trunk with magical force. I controlled my magic to choke the changeling until it was dead, because I didn't want to get any blood on my coat, or mane to make sure I was presentable in ponyville so I don't look like a murderer.
I exited the Everfree Forest much later, after debating whether to be a pegasus or a unicorn. I did decide to be a unicorn since being able to levitate multiple things at once is more helpful than being able to fly.
I am on the outskirts of ponyville right now, and I can see that there are a few places uninhabited on the edge of ponyville, so i head over to one of the uninhabited houses.
There was a sign in front of a run down forge that read "700 bits to purchase" then an address to go, and pay for the home. I head on down the road to find the address to pay for the home. On my way there I sort out enough bits that I brought with me from the castle to pay for the rundown forge.
I found the address but no pony was home so I decided to just leave a note with the bits telling I bought the place in their mailbox.
I came back to the rundown forge, and looked at it before I started wondering to myself why I picked this place over all the others. With that as my final thought I began repairing the place to make it shine. I first started off buying supplies from the nearest markets. Supplies like, bricks,glass,cement,and wooden boards. I pulled out a paper, and wrote on it for awhile making plans to make the forge look better, after I had made the plans I started to get to work using magic to make the bricks fit perfectly in the right places, cut the boards with ease, settle the glass in the right places,and mold the cement to make everything stay firm.
"Seems like you have been busy." A voice behind me said to me, as I got a bit startled. I turn around to see Twilight opening her pack to pull out some books. "Here take these, I can't pull any more knowledge out of these books, but I will need them back once your done with them." Twilight told me levitating a few books that seemed to be spell books. "Thanks Twilight, but how did you find me all the way onto the edge of town?" I ask her getting back to working on the forge. "I found you, because you are using a lot of magic, which is easy for any unicorn that knows how to detect magic to find ponies easily." Twilight finished turning around, and leaving.
When I had finally gotten done with fixing up the forge, I moved a bed in to my room, and placed the spell books on a dresser nearby. I went back outside the forge to fix up the smeltery part of it since It was one of the main reasons I chose to live in the forge.
The lava was still boiling hot since no pony would want to move it out of the place, the armor racks were a bit bent along with the weapon racks, the hammers were just fine, but the anvils were broken into pieces. I checked one of the spell books on the dresser to find out how to restore things. I walk up to the shattered anvil, and tap it with my glowing horn, and move away as it reforms into it's usual look, I do the same to the armor, and weapon racks, after doing all that I set up a barrel full of water by moving a barrel with magic, then filling it up with water, and placing it in the smeltery.
In the end of the day I was completely drained from working on the smeltery for so long without rest. I slowly trotted my way over to my bed, and kinda fell on it, kinda fell down on it. I slowly close my eyes, and start to fall asleep without noticing I had finally gotten my cutie mark for forging weapons, and armor.
