A Frontier of Spirits
Prologue
Load Full StoryIn this world’s distant past, long before the time of the royal sisters, a terrible scourge paved over the land.
A creature of pure evil, Luce, descended on the denizens of the world with malice. In response, three primordial alicorns tasked with the safeguarding of the world set in motion a plan to stop Luce’s path of destruction.
Calling upon ten heroes from the far corners of the world, the Primordials gifted these heroes with power over the elements that created the natural world.
Fire, Light, Ice, Wind, Thunder, Water, Metal, Wood, Earth.
And Darkness.
Wielding these powers, the Legendary Warriors faced their enemy, Luce, in combat. The battle lasted for seven days and seven nights and on the eighth day, in the first light of dawn, the Warriors banished their foe deep underground, into the center of the world.
The people of the world rejoiced and gave honors to their champions, but the heart’s of the Warriors were heavy with fear.
Could Luce break free from his imprisonment? Had they done nothing but delay his wrath upon the world?
Fearful of this, and knowing of their own mortality, the Legendary Warriors returned their powers to the Primordials and asked that they safeguard the powers so that should Luce ever return, the Legendary Warriors could be reborn anew to face their enemy once more.
The Primordials, grateful of the Warriors bravery, accepted this task. They decided to materialize the elemental powers in the form of ‘Spirits’ and hid them away in ancient vaults scattered across the country that would one day be known as Equestria.
To this day, the Spirits lay in wait so that should Luce return they may give their power to new hosts, to new heroes.
To create Legendary Warriors...
“...And save the world from the evil of Luce.” Belle finished. Closing the book with a smile, she turned to the young foal in the bed beside her.
“There. It’s bedtime now, Pip.”
Pipsqueak smiled at his mother as he pulled his covers up to his chin. “Do you know who the new Warriors are gonna be mum?”
Belle chuckled at her son’s innocence. “Sorry Pip. There won’t be any new Warriors. It’s just a story.”
Pipsqueak scrunched his face at this. “Aw. I think I would have made a good warrior. I could show that bloke Luce a thing or two.”
Belle gave a hearty laugh. “If Luce were real, he’d be shaking in his hole right now.”
Leaning down, Belle gave Pipsqueak a kiss on his forehead. “Sleep well my little warrior.”
Bele walked outside the room, turning off the lights and leaving the door open by a crack as she left.
Pip nestled into his sheets and closed his eyes, the image of ten brave heroes fighting an evil monster still on his mind.
