Chapter 1: A Brave Old World
Load Full StoryNext ChapterThe smell of seawater and a faint sound of gulls in the distance project and odd sort of tranquility at Fort Of The Two Sisters Naval Base. The waves lapping against the boats at bay give a rhythm that contrasts harshly against the purpose of the base, a launching point for all operations west of continental Equestria. After an accumulation of land and arms by both The Kingdom of Equestria and The Unified Federation of Free Equestrians (UFFE for short) a Cold War had developed and between the two nations and politicians of both countries feared a full ground war. The time was seven years before the return of Princess Luna, Equestria was a different place filled with fear and a resilient hope for the future. It was on this day that a younger Derpy Hooves walked onto the Bay of The Two Sisters and would forever be infamously dubbed as Commodore Hooves.
"Commodore Hooves!", a young naval officer shouted as he gave a salute.
Commodore Hooves said nothing. She was as quiet back then just as she is now. The only difference back then was when she did have something that needed saying, her voice would reverberate with such authority that ponies would have to listen. Commodore Hooves continued to walk through the base, only stopping occasionally to pick up stacks of papers neatly filed away in folders. There was always chattering from subordinate officers about the competence of their new Commodore since she was the youngest mare ever to have reached such a high ranking title. All the rumors where quickly dispelled as she stood up on a platform in the briefing room and gave the overview.
"The class IV submarine, K.S. Pride will travel near the northern coast of the UFFE accompanied by the class III K.S. Valiant and K.S. Bravery. Our primary objective is to display a show of force to any nation that stands before the Crown. As you may have noticed if you read ahead in your report, the new class IV will be equipped with eight ICBM warheads attached to mid-range Vengeance Rockets. Every one in this room knows the importance that no mistakes are made near territorial waters. The fleet will depart at 0600 tomorrow. Gentlecolts you are all dismissed," Commodore Hooves said with a fire in her eyes.
