''Sugar! Wake up!'' came a yell of a mare's voice. A small filly stirred on her bed. She had a rather light goldish coat with a double colored mane of yellow and green. She was on her side, the side showing had a small golden wing. She stirred more and eventually opened her purple eyes. She sat up, revealing the other side of her body, instead of having a wing, it had a scar. Almost like the wing had been cut off.

''Sugar, hurry up, Sweetie. Breakfast will be done without you. Also, get Tootsie, she's not listening to me.''

''Okay!'' Sugar yelled back.

Sugar went to brush her mane so that it went to the side for her locks and the crest carefully moved around her neck. She picked up her saddle bag and carefully put it on. The saddle bags on a thin layer of padding just to be careful not to hurt the wing that was still there. As well as losing her wing, the other had been broken and thus couldn't be afforded to break again.

She ran out of the room, and knocked on her twin's room. When she heard nothing, she walked in. Her sister was asleep on her bed, half under the blanket, half out and one hoof off the bed. Her light bluish-turquoise coat glowed as a thin trail of light crossed over her bed from the window. The same happened her the purple streaked mane that her sister owned. Her cutie mark shone too, it was a pink flower symbolising her talent with gardening.

''Tootsie, wake up. It's morning.''

''Huh?...''

Tootsie opened her eyes to reveal a color only a few shades darker then her mane. She looked at her sister and blinked before collapsing back on the bed.

''Oh, Tootsie. WAKE UP!'' yelled Sugar into her sisters ear, making her wake up properly.

''Jeez, Sugar, for the younger sister, you don't have to wake your sister up like that.''

''And let you sleep in? Not happening, sister.'' said Sugar with a stern look on her face.

''Fine.''

They walked into the kitchen where two mares was. One of the mares, a light cream earth pony was cooking breakfast. The earth pony was a blue and pink bubblegum colored hair and kind blue eyes. Her cutie mark was 3 candies.

The other mare, a turquoise unicorn, sat at the table waiting. She had a off-white, turquoise mane and tail which was slightly messy and golden eyes. Her cutie mark was a golden lyre.

''Morning, mommy. Daddy.'' said the twins to their adoptive parents.

''Morning, girls.'' said the earth pony, as she carefully put the toast on the table for the family. The unicorn was the first to take a bite and was smiling instantly.

''Hmm, Bonnie. Your food is delicious.'' said the unicorn.

''..Uh, thanks, Lyra.'' said the earth pony, slightly blushing.

''Daddy's right, mommy.'' said Tootsie, with a smile.

''T-That's good..'' muttered Bonbon, trying to stay calm. ''Now off to school, you too.''

''Okay!'' yelled the twins, as they got up and bolted out of the door and down the road to Ponyville elementary.

They walked into the red colored building. The classroom was nearly full and Miss Cheerilee was smiling down at her students. The cutie mark crusaders and their three new members, Nyx, Dinky Doo and Twist were talking about cutie marks. Sugar caught sight of a filly sat in the back row.

The filly had a black coat, with a blood red mane. She was a simple earth pony but her eyes looked like the ones of Nightmare Moon, Nyx or of Princess Luna's night guards. They were a soft blue, however despite the scariness of the eyes, they clung to a sad glance.

Sugar shook her head. The filly was in her class last year. Her name was Dark Blood, rather a unique name for a young filly.Sugar signed and took her seat, on the right of the third row, behind Nyx.

''Okay class, today, we have a new student joining us.'' said Cheerilee with a smile as she had one of her mulberry hooves over a shoulder of a small unicorn.

The unicorn filly had a bright white coat. Her mane was very straight and rainbow. The four primary colors were laid equally on the mane, her eyes were pink and her flank was a bare as Sugar's.

''This is Aurora Star, please treat her kindly.'' said Cheerilee.

''Yes, Miss Cheerilee.'' chanted the class in unison.

''Now, there's a free seat behind Sugar Cookie. Sugar, put your hoof up so she knows.''

Sugar did so, and little Aurora slowly creeped forward and took her desk behind the one winged pegasus.

Break came quite quickly that day. The foals bolted out of the building so they could go and play. Sugar Cookie stayed behind for a bit, walking to the back row.

''Um...Miss Dark?''

''What?'' said Dark, without any emotion in her voice.

''Uh, wanna go and play with me?''

''Why?'' said Dark, now looking at Sugar, with piecing looking eyes.

''Um....I thought it be nice...'' said Sugar, wincing from the glare.

''I'm not in the mood, sorry.''

Sugar signed and walked off, bumping into Aurora who was just walking outside.

''Sorry!'' yelled Aurora, instantly help Sugar up. Feeling like it was her fault, she began to cry, expecting to get yelled out.

''You okay?'' asked Sugar, looking at Aurora with concern.

''Uh-huh...'' uttered Aurora, confused about why she hadn't been yelled out.

Aurora's horn glowed gently. It was a beautiful rainbow glow which weren't natural. Most unicorns have their glow resembling their eyes, this filly, however, didn't. Aurora's magic picked up the books that she had dropped when the two fillies bumped into each other.

Aurora carefully carried the books in her magic, then she noticed the missing limb on Sugar's side.

''Um...If you don't mind me asking....Why is one of your wings missing?''

''Oh, a accident happened when I was 5 and it had to be removed as there wasn't much point in me keeping it. The other actually happened to become broken in the accident but nothing happened to it.''

''I see....I don't suppose you gonna........ tell me exactly what happened.''

''No. It's painful to remember.''

''Okay....''

She begin to walk away from Sugar, but Sugar stopped her and smiled.

''Wanna be my friend?''

''You..want me as....your friend?...'' asked Aurora, worriedly.

''Yep.''

Aurora's eyes fill up with tears of happiness but she smiled, along with her new friend.
