The time was eleven o'clock, one hour before midnight and the small, lavender coated; unicorn filly was lying in her bed. She couldn't sleep. Last Friday, she was accepted into Princess Celestia's school for gifted unicorns, as well as getting her cutie mark. Her little magic seizure, that normally caused her problems, actually helped her get into the school by catching the attention of Princess Celestia's herself! Although the Princess knew she was already very talented because of the seizure, seeing the little filly turn her two parents into cacti probably sealed the deal. The shocks on their faces were priceless.

She was asked to start her new school on Monday, which, nerve rattling for her, was the next morning. She had less than twelve hours before it all started. She fidgeted under her blankets, trying to get comfortable and finally fall into the relaxing pleasures of sleep. But she couldn't, it felt impossible. She couldn't take it anymore! It was three hours past her recommended bedtime for a young filly, according to the book that she found in Canterlot library. She screamed into her pillow, loudly. "Ugh!". A high pitched, young filly scream was produced from her.

Meanwhile, in the living room, the father of the young filly, Night Light, rested his newspaper down on his lap and looked up in confusion and curiosity. "Did you hear that, Hun?"

The mother, Twilight Velvet, rested her book down and looked up. She looked towards the bedroom that the moan had come from, also in confusion. Suddenly, the door slammed open and the small filly stormed out of the room, down the hall and into the living room. She appeared very grumpy and had small bags under her eyes.

"Mom! I can't sleep!" She moaned. "How come I can sleep every other night, but I can't tonight?" She asked.

"Well, Twilight, you do start your new school tomorrow. It's just your feelings rushing through you and your mind thinking about tomorrow. Every young filly like you gets these feelings." Twilight Velvet explained.

"It's weird, Mom. I happy and want to go to school, but I'm worried too. Why is that?" Twilight felt weird. She had never felt these two feelings together before, except a few days ago when she did her entry exam, but she never really understood it.

"Ugh... I hope this isn't going to take too long." Twilight Velvet murmured. She heard a faint chuckle from Night Light over at the other side of the room. "Right, um... Well, that's called 'mixed feelings'. You are excited about starting a new school tomorrow, but you're also nervous about it because you don't know what to expect there. As I said, perfectly normal." Twilight Velvet explained again.

"But what will it be like there?" Twilight asked for the third time.

Twilight Velvet could feel a tsunami of questions coming along. She couldn't be bothered with the possible hundreds of questions that were about to be asked. It was Monday tomorrow, the day of Tartarus. Being tired on Monday was pretty much the definition is misery. Even she was late for the time she wanted to go to bed, she was just glued to her book and didn't notice, and now that she was pulled away from it by the curiosity of her husband, she had a chance to go to bed, but then her daughter comes running, playing an extended version of twenty questions.

"Well... I wouldn't know, I didn't go to that school. But it is a school that Princess Celestia has made and organized herself. She also picked out and hired the best teachers in Canterlot to-"

"What about the ponies there?"

"I'm sure they'll be nice."

"Will it be hard?"

"It will be hard at first, but as long as get stuck in and keep focused, a bright filly like you could be the best of the class!"

"But what about everypony else? Will they be nice?"

Twilight Velvet gave up, confirmed by another moan. "Ugh! It's too late to be doing this!"

Night Light gave off another chuckle and stepped in. "Your mother is right, sweetheart. Going to a new school is very exciting, but it's also very nerve racking. But you shouldn't be nervous. Going to a school founded by Princess Celestia will be a blast. I'm sure you'll love it." Night Light smiled, filling her daughter with confidence. "Now, off to bed and try to get some sleep. Otherwise you'll be too tired to get out of bed and you'll be late for your first day at school and that will give you a bad impression. You don't want that, do you?"

The color from Twilight's face drained. Things could go wrong before they even started. Twilight shuck her head. "Oh, uh... No! Defiantly not! Ok, goodnight mom, goodnight dad!" Twilight sang, smiling as she walked back towards her bedroom.

Twilight passed a room to get to her bedroom. That room had a unicorn stallion with a white coat and blue mane with a cutie mark resembling a shield on his rump, peeping his head outside the doorway, sneakily so their parents couldn't see. "Don't worry little sis'. Tomorrow, before the school day starts, I'll ask the headmistress to place you in my form class so I can help you around the place. She'll do a small favor for me. She trusts me because I'm the head of school council. “Her brother, Shining Armor whispered.

"Thanks, BBBFF." Twilight whispered back before skipping back to her room happily and shutting the door, quietly. She jumped back into bed and pulled the covers back over her, put her in a comfortable position and rested her head on the star swirl the bearded themed pillow. By the time she fell asleep, it was midnight. Seven hours before she had to get back up to start a new adventure at the new school.
