Princess Imago, destined ruler of the Changelings, despises her life. Like all Changelings, she feeds off love causing other species in the world of Equestria to hate her and her future minions. She wants to change that, and so Princess Imago begins a journey. A journey to discover what love is. Yet, how can she find love if ponies know what she is? How far will she go to understand it? Moreover, what will be the cost of her actions?

In the end, can she prove her people are not a Plague to fear?

Princess Imago paced the halls of her home. It had been a week since her mother, Queen Chrysalis, attempted to overthrow Canterlot so their minions can feed of the love the ponies held. Everything was going according to her Mother’s plans until that dreadful Twilight Sparkle ruined everything. Now, her people were injured and starving. It just was not fair; they did not choose to be like this, to be these ugly forsaken creatures, to have to feed off love.

Life must hate me. The young alicorn thought as she stretched her fly-like wings. With a sigh, her pacing stopped and the girl found herself in front of a large mirror. Holes in her hooves, wings, and crooked horn, she was a freak. Pink web-like mane and tail kept in the same style of her mother, contrasted deeply against her black skin. Then her stomach and back, shades of pink decorated the shell that protected her internal organs and wings when they were not in use. To top it off, she had fangs, fangs as if she was a bat!

What am I? Princess Imago asked herself, blinking and seeing only her violet eyes staring back. There must be more to life than this. I am not a monster. My people are not a plague to fear. Why do they see us as that? Whatever happened to “Don’t just a book by its cover?”

The echoes of footsteps in the courtyard interrupted her thoughts. The sounds belonged to the soldiers, mindless drones that passed through the lifeless and cracked ground. Deep down Imago knew why they were monsters, because only the Queen and the Princess had free minds. Just like bees, they are nothing more than pests to the world. They saluted her, their Princess. Did she love her subjects?

The idea struck in her mind instantly. Maybe she could runaway, runaway from this fate. No, she could not, it was her responsibility to care for her subjects and find them food. Yet, it was such a beautiful dream, to run off find out what love is, change the way Ponies viewed Changelings.

Yes. She decided. I can change the way ponies view us.
