Chapters My Spring Break in the EverFree Forest
Day one:
Well journal, here I am. I can’t believe I actually have to write in you. This stupid Spring Break Assignment. “Write down anything you find interesting over Spring Break.” This is a waste of time. Well, all assignments a waste of time. Ba Dum Tiss! Well, that’s gonna deduct my grade. Thanks a lot journal. Anyway, I have to go. I’m packing for camping trip with my dad tomorrow. Cya later.
Signed, Jessica.
P.s This is going to be a bummer...
My Spring Break in the EverFree Forest
Day Two, 9:15 a.m
“The plants grow…” Started Applejack
“The animals take care of themselves…” Continued Fluttershy
“ And the clouds move…” added Rainbow Dash
“All on their own!” all three said together.
How silly can those ponies be? Those are things that happen naturally. It’s like, if those ponies don’t have everything under their control, they go nuts. Freakin’ god complex. Oh, in case whoever reads this doesn’t know, I’m an avid watcher of “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.” That dialogue at the beginning is from that show. In the episode, they were about to go into the Everfree Forest which everything flowed naturally. Everything in our world flowed naturally, and we’re doing just fine. More or less. Anyway, those ponies need to calm down and chill out. There’s nothing scary about a forest.
Well, Journal, that’s enough about ponies. My dad and I are heading out to the camp grounds. I’ll write in you later. Wish me luck.
P.s Please pray that he doesn’t play any of his “classics” on the way there. It’s like a five hour drive. I can’t handle that much torture.
Needing your prayers, Jessica
(5:47 P.m)
So after eight hours of torture- curse traffic- we finally arrived at the campsite. The air was fresh, the trees were tall, and I forgot my portable charger. My electronics were going to die, and I would have nothing else, but you, journal. Why can’t you be WiFi compatible? I can say one thing at least. The view was beautiful.
I watched as my dad set up the tent. He struggled, journal. Oh did he struggle. Fell on his face multiple times. Hit in the groin with the poles multiple times. Even thought he was done until the tent collapsed on its self…multiple times. Within all his failures, he still had smiles on his face, though I admit, he began going a slower pace. Soon enough , I decided to go gather some wood fire wood while he struggled.
“I’ll be back,” I said to my father, “Gonna get some wood.”
“Alright. Get the fallen sticks on the ground. They are- Ooff!” My father fell on the ground as the pole hit him in the groan again. Journal, after today, my dad probably can’t have any more kids.
I’ll be back. Forever yours, Jessica.
(6:33 p.m)
Journal!! Journal!! You wouldn’t believe what I saw! Out in the woods! It was...small…yellow…had wings…it was Flutterhshy! I was in the woods gathering woods when I heard someone humming. I followed the sound for about ten minutes before I reached a clearing. In the clearing was Fluttershy feeding some squirrels. I watched her silently, but I stepped on a fallen branch. The snap alerted her to my presence. Once she saw me, she screamed…very softly…before flying away.
Okay Journal…you probably think I’m crazy. I’ve been talking to you for two days with no response, but I know you can hear me. I saw Fluttershy in those woods. Of course, my dad didn’t believe me. I guess I’ll just have to find her to prove to you both.
I’m not crazy, Jessica.
My Spring Break in the EverFree Forest
Day three. 7:01 A.m
Alright journal…I woke up this morning really early. I was alright; I’m a morning person. The only problem was my stomach. It hurt really badly. In hindsight, eating two bags of roasted marshmallows wasn’t a good idea. I see your glances. Shut up , journal.
Anyway, I need to find Fluttershy, and stomach ache wasn’t going to stop that. No matter how bad the sugar flowed in veins. I need you to protect me, journal. As we walk, you watch my back. Whoa…maybe I am crazy…talking to my journal…only a crazy person would forget to back lunch.
Okay. I’ll write in you when we get back to camp.
On the hunt with a belly ache, Jessica
(9:12 a.m)
I couldn’t wait to write. It gives me something to do in this barren, unsettled land.
I haven’t found Fluttershy, but I did receive a message on my phone. I was so happy because I didn’t get any reception out here. Then my happiness died…The message was from my service provider. We forgot to pay the bill. Ugh…It didn’t matter. I only had 30 percent power left. I didn’t want to waste that looking for signal. I might need it just in case a serial killer comes after us. Or to check Facebook when I do get signal. I wonder what my friends are doing. I bet they’re having fun not looking for Fluttershy.
There’s nothing out here. I’m heading back to camp. My dad’s probably worried sick.
Feeling kind of lonely, Jessica.

(2:00 p.m)
Stupid Racoons. They got into our food supply. This is why I hate nature. Instead of them going to the supermarket , they steal. And don’t say”They can’t go to the store. They’re animals.” I know how you are Journal. Always taking other people’s side. Fortunately , we had a some food hidden in our car.
My dad and our cooked the food had, hid the rest, and decided to find some local wildlife. My god is nature boring. So is this assignment. I mean, I like you journal, but this assignment is kind of stupid. Well, it lets me keep track of what I did. Bittersweet I guess.
We walked through the forest locating animals that no one really cared about. No one, but my father. He began naming animals and flora. I didn’t know he was this much of a nerd. I wasn’t listening, yet made sounds to show my faked interest. Then, I saw it…her. Two wide, blue eyes sticking out from a very fake looking tree. My father didn’t notice, so he kept walking. But me, I walked towards the tree.
“I know you’re there, Fluttershy…you can’t hide those eyes…” I said as I walked to the tree.
The tree began to shake; it also began to back away slowly. Though, I was taking much larger steps. Quickly, I got closer and closer. I almost had her until she exploded form her disguise, screamed a low scream, and flew off again. I was so close. Too close to let her go. I followed the almost inaudible scream as far as I could. Soon, I was lost. I wandered aimlessly until I somehow reach the end of the edge of forest and heard two familiar voices. That’s when I took you out, journal, and began writing.
“Twilight…I saw them.” Fluttershy whispered, “Out there just walking…menacingly.”
“Fluttershy please. We both know Hairless Gorillas don’t live in the Everfree Forest. They are located in Saddle Arabia.”
“Twilight…” Fluttershy began to shuffle from hoof to hoof, “They are out there, and one is looking for me.”
“Why would Hairless Gorillas want you?”
As they talked, I slowly pulled my camera out of my pocket. I slowly raised it to eye level, opened the camera app, and was about to take the picture when it beeped for a recharge. The sound resonated throughout the forest. I hoped that they didn't hear it , but when I noticed they were looking directly at me. Twilight took a step forward, and I took a step back.
"Don't be scared Hairless Gorilla." Twilight said as she walked closer, "We won't hurt you."
"I-I-I'm not a Gorilla!" I respond as I begin to run. I don't know why, but I did. In the process, I dropped my phone; I didn't care. I just had to get out of there. I didn't know if it was because I didn't know if I didn't want to mess up their society with my humanness, just too nervous, or running away from Twilight's magic cages.
I kept running. I kept running until I couldn't hear Twilight's yelling. Still, I sensed she was behind. I finally found what I was looking for, but it...I don't know. I just ran till I got to the camp. I think Twilight stopped chasing. Then, I heard rustling in the bushes. I shrank as the figure came from the bushes. Fortunately, it was only my dad. Well, this time.
Oh Journal...I'm pretty scared, Jessica
My Spring Break in the EverFree Forest
Day 5 , 6 a,m
Journal, we are packed and ready to go. My spring break is over ,and school starts soon. I rather have school than nature anyday. Five days without a decent wifi connection. Just terrible.
My father and I get into the car, and he starts the engine. Instantly does his music play. I turn my head away trying to drown out the sound when I see them. Four pair of eyes stare at me from the bushes. I know who they are. They couldn't hide from me. Yet, they weren't hiding. Both Twilight and Fluttershy walked out of the Bushes and began waving goodbye to me. Flutterhshy seemed worried about the situation but Twilight seemed glad. Like..she was learning about a new species. I waved back and continued to wave until they were out of sight. How my dad didn't see them was beyond me.
I began to think. Maybe...just maybe...if I wasn't crazy... what if the forest we were in was connected to their Everfree. That's the only way I could think that this could happen. The ponies did say the Everfree was a weird place, so who knew? If I keep thinking, I might just come up with an idea for a fancfiction to explain this. Nah, this is already crazy enough..
Signing off, Jessica
My Spring Break in the EverFree Forest
Day 4, 3:30 a.m
So, Journal, I couldn't sleep. I was too afraid they were coming for me. Yeah, I know the ponies are nice and believe in friendship, but still. Who knows what they might do to me? "An hairless Gorilla." Anything. I mean, all I know about there world is what I see in the show. Not what else they do. They could actually...pillage...beat...or even be cannibals. Who knows?!
Anyway, I'm laying here in my sleeping bag. My dad was snoring real loud. It was one of the reasons I couldn't sleep. While awake, I listened to the sounds of nature- wolves, bears, mating, and crickets. So peaceful. (Dang...I forgot I can't convey sarcasm in writings) It was terrible. The sounds of nature suck. I can't see how people fall asleep to them. Gotta be weird as hell heck.
Then, I heard it. The sound of clopping. Shut up, journal! Not that clopping. The walking kind. Two sets I believe. They got closer and closer until they were right behind the tent. I heard whispers, but not actual words. The hooves walk around the tent, their two silhouettes following along the tents outside. They stopped right outside the front. A purple aura surrounded the zipper, and it began to lower. My heart pace quickened; my breathing deepened. I thought it was all over until the zipper began to go up. The ponies set something down before quickly trotting off. I didn't dare go outside. Only lay there in fear.
I need to sleep and let off the pony stress, Jessica.
(10:34 a.m)
My dad finally wakes up. He seems refreshed and happy, but he didn't know we had late night visitors. He exits the tent , but stops. He reaches down to pick something up. He looks confused and reenters the tent. He gently nudges me to force me from my hard earned sleep. I awake-sadly- to him sitting my phone on my leg.
"Why did you leave your phone outside on the ground?" he said.
"I don't know...must have fallen out." I reply.
My father simply shrugs as he leaves to cook breakfast. I sigh in relief to have my phone back. Weirdly enough, it's fully charged. I go outside the tent to find any trace of the ponies, but there's none to be found. Just stupid nature. I'll write more later, journal. Now, I have to cook.
Maybe the ponies aren't evil, Jessica.
(6: 40 p.m)
Long story short. Nothing happened. I ate, we nature watched, Ate again. No sign of ponies.
