Mutation Extermination

Soarin's POV

We were near the entrance, waiting for Twilights command to invade. Spitfire had found Riot, and when he learned that the mail pony Derpy was dead, he cracked, sobbing uncontrolably for a while, saying that he loved her, and didn't have the courage to tell her. I looked behind me, seeing Twilights signal, me, Fleetfoot, and Spitfire, entered. It was dark, but not too dark. I could see a few skulls in the dark, I could smell blood and death, and I felt as if something was watching me. I kept my head on, focusing on the task at hand. We were to scout out a large portion of the tunnel we were in, and determine if it was safe or not for every one else to continue.

I stopped when I heard something above us, I signalled for the others to stop. I looked up, seeing something falling down, I quickly rolled out of the way. It was one of the spider mutants that Twilight told us about. "Don't let it touch you!" I yelled, we avoided its attempts to attack us. After Fleetfoot avoided again, she was instantly covered in them, seeing that there were more on the ceiling, I did the most sensible thing. "FUCKING RUN!" I yelled at Spitfire, she nodded as she avoided another one, but just like Fleetfoot, they piled on her from the ceiling. I felt a few tears roll down my cheeks, I shot at them, realising that it wasn't doing much, I grabbed a grenade and pulled the pin. I chucked that little bastard behind me, not looking back as I kept runnin' and gunnin'.

I saw the light from the tunnel entrance, a few figures standing there. "GET OUT OF THE WAY!" I yelled, they started backing away as I got closer. I burst from the tunnel, tears rolling down my cheeks.

"Whats wrong?" Rarity asked as I came to a stop.

"In the tunnel! Their everywhere! Their coming!" I yelled, I turned around to see the spiders flooding out of the tunnel. Almost instantly, the air was filled with the sound of gunshots and screams. I took to the skys, looking at the scene below me. The spiders were still coming out, and more were being created everytime they touched anypony. I flew above the tunnel entrance, unclipping my bomb from my belt. I was about to drop it, but stopped when I saw a spider, literally flying towards me, with the wing bones of a pegasus. I dropped the bomb as I reached for my gun, hearing and seeing the explosion made me happy, knowing more were dead. I shot the flying spider, making it plummet back to the ground.

I saw a few more on the ground sprout wings, I felt a little sick from just watching it. I looked around to see a few more pegasi in the air. I kept shooting at the spiders, hoping my bullets would hit them from this distance. "NOOO" I looked left to see a mare getting swarmed bythe flying spiders, she started falling, hitting the ground with a suckening crack. I shot a few more flying ones, making sure I wouldn't meet the same feet.

I flew down to where Twilight, Fluttershy, Rarity, Riot, and Mak were. "What should we do?!" I asked when I was closer.

"We have to teleport in!" She yelled, the other survivors were closer to us, being pushed back by the swarm. "I remember a room, and I can get us there" she said again, a few other survivors were standing next to us, shooting the oncoming swarm.

"OK, teleport us!" One of them yelled, Twilight's horn started to glow, and with a pop and a flash of light, we were in the hive. I looked around the room, a giant sack of green stuff hung in the room, spikes stuck out of the walls in fours, and blood was almost everywhere.

"This way" she said, we followed her into the next room. I almost puked at what I saw. Piles and piles of dead corpses filled the room, the smell of death was strong, and body parts lay everywhere. "Oh my" Twilight said, looking at the piles. "This is more then the last time we were here" she said, looking at me.

"We must focus on the task at hand" Mak said, stepping in front of the group. "I can feel the hives core, the place we must go" she said, she started walking forward. We all followed her, weaving through many rooms and tunnels, avoiding all mutants, or taking them out as silently as possible. "Just a few more rooms" she said, after another step, her head was impaled by a larger then normal spike. Based on what I've heard, she only had enough mutant blood to regen slowly, not instantly.

"Shit!" Some one yelled, we turned around to see him pulled into the ground, then a mare.

"Eep!" Fluttershy shrieked, we looked at her to see that she was halfway into the ground.

"Fluttershy!" I yelled, diving forward and grabbing her hand, just as she was about to go under. "Don't let go!" I yelled, her grip tightened. I looked up to see a fighter, only it was a bit diffrent, making it stronger. It was heading straight towards me. "Help me! We have to pull her up!" I yelled, Twilight came next to me, grabbing Fluttershy's arm.

"No, you gotta let me go!" Fluttershy said, I stared at her in disbelief.

"But Flutters-"

"If you won't, then I will" she said, letting go of my hand. Having nothing to hold onto, I fell backwards. I could hear Fluttershys screams as she was dragged down to her death. I looked at the hole, seeing a spike right where my head was at. I pulled the gun off my back.

"Damn you!" I yelled, aiming the gun at the fighter, shooting it. It let out a pained screech, then jumped towards me with incredible speed. I quickly rolled out of the way, but was met with a whack from its tail. I landed a few feet away, rolling onto my back. I saw it coming towards me from above, so I put my gun up, blocking its mouth from clamping down on my head. It tried forcing my arms down, but I held them strong. I saw a flurry of bullets hit its head, making it fall on my right side.

"Eat lead motherfucker" Riot said, reloading his gun. He came over and helped me up. I looked at the fighter mutant, who was laying on the ground healing.

"Oh I don't think so!" I said, grabbing a grenade from Riot. I ran at it, pulling the pin. Once I was next to it, I shoved it into the hole that was in its torso. I ran back, just barely avoiding the explosion. I looked at the mutant, it was in a bunch of pieces, but its head was still intact and breathing. I walked over to it, putting the end of my gun to its head.

"Yhr...acrat....detah" it said, before I put a bullet in its head, silencing it forever. I walked over to the hole Fluttershy was dragged down, a tear rolling down my face.

"I will never forget that day in flight school" I said, pulling the pin on another grenade, throwing it down the hole. I heard the explosion, and the dieing roar of the napper. I turned around, Twilight, Rarity, and Riot stood there, tears on their cheeks. That day, all those years ago. The day she kissed me, will always be in my mind and heart.
