Once upon a time, there lived a powerful ruler named Princess Celestia. She rolled the sun, she embraced her subjects, and made sure everypony’s happy... wait... I’m suppose to talk about Luna!? Aww.... but I don’t wanna.... fine... sigh....
Once upon a time, there lived some other Princess- Luna. She’s, I dunno, Tia’s sister or something. She kinda rules over the moon even know Celestia could perfectly do it herself... look, can I get paid already...? Gah... fine...
Ahem
With Celestia having more of the glory, and praise under her beautiful sun like she deserves, Luna dosn’t get as much- everypony sleeps under her boring moon or something like that. So, she eventually got angry, and decided.... to get a job!
Luna Get’s a Job
By Leonardo Oliver Osborn
Luna won’t you cry for me? I am as lonely as I’ll ever be! I’m am forced back into the start! Is there any way to fix a broken hear-
Slam!
Beep....
Luna awoke to the sound of her radio. It was 6:11 in the morning, the first day of her job hunt. With her magic, she changed her channel to the News while she got herself ready to face the day.
Beep.
GOOOOOOOOD MOOOORNING PONIES!!! We are done with Luna’s dark and tiring night and now we shall embrace Celestia’s morning sun! I’m DJ Pon-3, and Tavi and I are gonna-
Luna changed to the Celtic channel. She figured she’ll need to hear the News instead of her favorite station today, but she... had a mood swing. She brushed her mane slowly, savoring every moment of the soothing Bagpipes- today’s track is from Pychgoth, her favorite Pony.
Luna walked into the kitchen, ready to eat her favorite cereal- Bucky Charms, filled with all the divine marshmallows, but as a down side had those boring brown parts.
“Oh, Good Morning Luna.” Said Celestia, she was just levitating a spoon and a bowl with her magic when she noticed. “Don’t you usually sleep in the Day?” Luna yawned.
“Indeed we do, Sister. Tisk not a day like any other of thy days.” Luna explained.
“Oh really?” Celestia asked, arching an eye brow.
“Indeed. We hath noticed how our bits are but a bit short, no pun intended. So, sense everypony seems to rejoice your sun more than they do with our moon, we decided to have a job! We are going on a job hunt today!” Luna exclaimed, already feeling proud.
“Oh... good for you, sister.” Celestia causally said, pulling her cereal box over. Luna read the title with an arched eye brow.
“Celesti-os....?”
“Yes indeed, Sister.” Celestia answered with a smile. “A few nice Ponies said I inspired them, and that they wanted to make a cereal based off of me. Isn’t that nice?” She poured her cereal, the cover had with her picture on it.
“They thought about making one for you too- ‘Luna-Flakes’.” Luna hadn’t even sipped her freashly made coffee yet, yet she spit-take all over the floor anyway. “Oh, how lovely- look Luna, they even added marshmallows that look like my sun! Isn’t that lovely?”
Luna placed a hoof on her forehead, and sighed. She had her cereal and coffee ready, so she turned on the radio in the kitchen to the Celtic channel once more... but was soon changed to the Opera channel by Celestia. Luna fixed her a glare- a Mere wearing a blond wig and Viking helmet while singing with an ear piercing high pitched voice was not her cup of tea, but it’s Celestia’s, she was also drinking a literal cup of tea that had the word 'I (heart simple) The Opera' to prove it. Angered, she changed the channel back- Bagpipes are better... but was soon changed back.
“Gah! Tia, why dusk thou need’ist to change-ith the channel to that? The singing hurt’s our ears, tisk too high pitched!”
“Well, so are the Bagpipes.” Celestia replied with a smile, taking another sip of her tea. Luna puffed, her face turning red.
“Nigh!!! The Bagpipes are soothing!”
“Why’s that?”
“Well....”
“Luna, my taste is high-pitched, and your taste is high-pitched...”
Luna huffed, folding her hooves. After a little bit of eating, she decided to change the channel, but it was instantly changed back.
It was 9:11 when Luna finally left, after bracing the longest breakfast she had ever had. She had wore a brown fedora, a watch on her right front hoof, a white color with a black tie with her moon on it, and a suit case- the dress for success. She knew it was true because it rhymes!
Normally, Ponies would have to face Horse-Drawn Carriages traffic, but not winged Ponies like herself.
After what felt like forever, she managed to find a building with a ‘Now Hiring’ sign. She flew down. What was strange was that when she landed, no Pony bowed to her. That’s odd, everypony always bows in her presence on her outings with Celestia... wait... she shock her head, thinking her thought was a bit rubbish.
She looked up, the big sign on the shop titled ‘The Crafty Carvers’. She entered with the sound of a bell. Surprisingly, the inside was made out of wood, but the outside was brick- not only that, but this small shop appears to be bigger on the inside as well.
“Oh, hello? Oh, is it the lass with the messy orange hair again? Oh, about time you retur-” An elderly Unicorn Mere with a Trottish accent was swiping the floors with her magic when she heard the bell ring, but stopped when she saw the Pony she didn’t expect.
“Oh, looky here! What are you, a Unicorn or a Pegasus? It seems you can’t make you mind today, can’t you dear?”
Luna arched an eye brow- dosn’t she know who she is? “CRAW!!! CAN’T MAKE UP YOUR MIND! CRAW!!!!” Luna flinched, on her side was a par- wait, a Crow? Alright then...
“Ah... dusk thee know who we are?”
“Well, that depends- are you the girl with the crazy orange hair?”
“Well... no... but we-”
“We’? I don’t really hear a French accent, and I only see one of ya! And what’s with the ‘thee’s? I don’t belive I’m in the Dark-Ages, am I?”
She was starting to get angry her, “Dark-Ages’... what dusk thou talk’ist about?” -but was confused as well. The Mere started to pace back and fourth.
“Um... well... um...”
“GRAH!!! SHE’S ON TO US!!! GRAH!!!!!” The Crow yelled.
“YOU’RE RIGHT!!!! OUUUUUUTTTTT!!!!” The crazy old coot yelled, using her magic to aim a thousand knifes at her all at once.
“HULT!!! THOU DOSE NOT KNOW OF ME!? I AM PRINCESS LU-”
“I SAID OUT!!! SHOOO!!!!” She yelled, her magic somehow strong enough to push Luna away. Angry, she decided to go back in and arrest her. But when she opened the door, there was instead some other store inside. Odd, she remembered that exact door was the door to ‘The Crafty Carvers’. She backed up to check the sign, but was blown when she saw that the title changed ‘Michel’s Light-Bulb Repair Store: “You Brake It, We Fix It”'. She looked at the door, and saw that the ‘Now Hiring’ sign was still there. Perhaps maybe she can try to get this job?
She walked in, with yet another bell ring when she entered.
“Greetings, dear subject. We are Princess Luna, ruler of the night! We are here to find a job, for our bits had now run short! Dusk thou have a position for us?”
The Pony stared at her. “My. Name. Is. Earl.” The Stallion with a brown coat and darker brown mane said with a Zebra's accent.
“Why, such a strange name. No matter. We are happy to meet you, ‘Earl’.”
“My. Name. Is. Earl.”
“Yes, we had quite heard the first time.”
“My. Name. Is. Earl.”
Luna slammed her hoof unto her head for the second time that day. “Okay, thou hath lost our interest. We shall leave the moment and you will no longer be worthy of our presence if you tell me your name again!”
“My. Name. Is.-”
“Good bye, thy subject." Luna left the door, be wild by yet another strange moment. But that was just the beginning... she flew through Canterlot, still determined to find a Job. She found the most professional looking place she could find, ‘Ink Inc.’.
“So... it says here that you had defeated Discord with your sister, defeated King Sombra with your sister, and had been rising the sun and moon with your sister?” a tan Stallion with a short bright brown mane, wearing a white collared shirt with a black tie, smiler to what Luna’s wearing, and a few pens in his shirt pocket as well, and had a type-writer for his Cutie-Mark, as he read her paper.
“Yes, we had.” Luna replied with a proud smile.
“Eh... sounds like it was all your sister’s doing, and you were just... I dunno, there, I guess.”
“Well... no, we had done all of these things together! Without us, we are sure sister would never be able to handle the elements. Why, perhaps maybe if she sent us to the moon or something, it would be broken!” She laughed at her joke, the Stallion didn’t.
“Yeah... so, you know how to use a type-writer?”
“Well, we had made many a scroll before!”
“Eh, close enough- your hired.”
Luna jumped in rejoice. “URRRRAAAA!!!” She exclaimed, ready to celebrate Rossion style.
“Yeah... see ya at Ten sharp, alright?”
Luna settled down.
“Oh... um... yes...” She answered with an embraced smile, blushing.
So, it’s now 9:50, so what better way to pass the time than enjoying some relaxation at the park? During her walk, she found an Earth Pony Filly with a dark gold coat, and a dark blond mane and an hour glass for a Cutie Mark, crying near a tree. Luna walked over to her, a pitied look on her face. “Child, what hath ever is thy problem? Is there anyway we can do to help?”
The Foal sniffed, and held up an ice-cream comb, with a disturbing lack of ice-cream, and pointed at the side walk, where there was a perfectly good scop of ice-cream, wasted upon the ground, only accompanied by a crack on the ground, big enough to make a careless Filly trip and fall. “Oh, tis' tragic. Perhaps we can buy thee a new one?” The Filly looked up.
“Really... you would...?”
“Of curse, it won’t harm us much.”
The Filly sniffed, and before she could thank her, her mother came.
“Oh, Little Melody! Look what I got you to cheer you up!!!”
A Trottish ascent Unicorn Mere with a light yellow coat and a dark red mane, with Bird singing with musical notes for her Cutie-Mark trotted over, a light blue Earth Pony Stallion with a dark brown mane and a Shield, Spear, and Helmet for a Cutie-Mark followed suit, holding something on his back, hiding it with his gray sweat shirt. What's up with the Trottish accents today? This is Canterlot, not Trotland.
“W-what is it Mom...?” asked the foal. The Stallion dropped his sweat-shirt unto the ground and revealed a stuffed plushy of Celestia.
“Surprise!!!” Exclaimed her parents unison, floating the Plushy to her. The Filly, or ‘Little Melody’, gasped. “I LOVE HER!!! THANKS MOM!!!” She exclaimed, holding her new toy tightly, entirely forgetting about Luna and the ice-cream. Luna felt a bit angered that it was Celestia of all things, but then decided to leave the happy family alone, smiling at the happy, heart warming moment. It was all the uplifting she needs, thus Time struck 9:59 as if on cue. She looked at her watch, and gasped. She spread her wings, and flew her way to the company building.
“I’m here!” Luna exclaimed, ready for her job. The Stallion walked over, a disappointed look on his face. “What... am I late....? Sorry, my Time must of been wrong! Curse this watch!”
“Yes, it must of. You are 17 seconds late.”
Luna had a unamused look.
“But, your close enough anyway. Most Ponies are usually 25 seconds late, or sometimes even a whole minute, so you did better.”
Luna didn’t like how impatient this Stallion was, but rolled with it. “So... we belive we hadn’t been introduced. We are Princess Luna- ruler of the night! And what dusk thy name is?”
“... Types-Worth, ruler of the.... type-writers.... come this way...” He lead her to a big room, filled with Meres with the same ginger manes, and mane style, all typing and pushing their stick thingys in unison every five seconds. He lead her to an empty type-writer, a Dictionary on it’s side. “So, what your suppose to do here is copy the ‘A’ section of this Dictionary,” Types-Worth explained, pointing at the said Dictionary. “And after that, your off for the day, and come back tomorrow to get started on section ‘B’ if you do a good job with section ‘A’, got it?”
Luna nodded. “How hath troubling tis' can be?” Luna asked.
“I dunno, pie? Speaking of pie, Apple Fritter! It’s launch time for me, where’s my apple pie?” A yellow coated Mere with a green mane pony tail and three apple fritters as her Cutie-Mark walked over.
“Yes, coming this way!” Apple Fritter said with a southern accent, leading Types-Worth to his office for his pie to leave Luna alone with a type-writer.
“Okay...” She said to herself- she cracked her hoofs, and started typing. It was quite a bit more challenging than writing with a quail. Normally, she can be able to write down every word in her mind by making each letter, but now she has to take three to five seconds to just find each key. After managing to write a whole sentence, she was stuck. It won’t work anymore. She started hitting keys, grumbling to herself in frustration. “We... are a capable mere...” she muttered to herself. “Thou... tis just... a FOOLISH TYPE WRITER!!!!” she yelled in anger, the type-writing refused to work. “WHY’IST THOU NOT WORKING!!!? I DEMAND THEE TO WORK!!!” she yelled with her traditional voice, trying to get the type-writer to fear her. It didn’t work. Soon, her boss came back with a half of a pie, wearing a bib, his face messy like he was in a pie eating contest- Luna almost thought he was.
“Okay, what in Celestia’s mane is goin’ on here!?” He sward. She wanted to yell at him for using her sister’s name in vain, but couldn’t afford to have him anymore mad than he already was.
“Maybe... this... would help...” said a greenish yellowish and light yellow striped Unicorn Mere with a light yellow and golden stripped mane with an hour glass for a Cutie-Mark, pushing the stick thing on her type-writer.
“Oh... why hath we not thought of that...?” Luna asked, she had also taken notice of how this mere wasn’t as ginger nor did she have the same short mane cut as all the other Meres.
“... that’s it... Luna, time to send ya’ to office duty, kay’?” Types-Worth asked, obviously not wanting a ‘no’.
“Yes... perhaps we should...” Luna answered, then got up and followed Types-Worth to a hall of mini offices. He positioned her into her own, the only thing present was another type-writer and a phone on a desk with a chair.
“Kay’, whatcha’ do here now is answer calls, and take notes with the type-writer, got it?” Types Worth explained.
“Um... dusk thy mind if we can use a quill instead?” She asked with an embarrassed look. Types Worth had a very strait face about it, and sighed.
“... fine...” He left, and soon returned with a note-pad and pen. It was close enough.
“We thank thee.” Said Luna with a smile.
“Shut up.” Replied her boss, and left, ready to enjoy some more pie...
In a short montage, she waited patiently on her desk, rested her head on her hoof, starting playing with her pen with her hooves, re-did her mane in many forms while wearing a feather in her ear like the old tradition, rested her head on her hoof while holding her chest plate with the other, studying her moon symbol, found a clip dispenser and made a moon shape on her wall, shooting at it, started to chew on a pencil she found on the floor,
“Yes! It is us- we mean, I, Princess Celestia herself! And we- I order thee- you to... brush thy- we mean; your teeth and... eat more green food!” Luna hung up her phone, giggling to herself after her prank call with her impression of Celestia she uses when she talks to herself when she’s mad at Celestia.
In the end, she fell asleep, snoring ever so loudly, had a dream of a yellow circle-creator eating a blue, pink, red, and orange ghosts. That strange dream was soon interrupted with a slam on her desk.
“HEY!!! Don’tcha’ ignore me like that’! I said; ‘Your not suppose to be sleepin’ on the job’!” Types-Worth yelled. “For Celestia sake! What do I pay ya for, sitting around your desk and doin’ nuttin’!?”
“Yes.”
“Your fired.”
“Curses!”
Luna took all the clips off one by one, cleaned up her drool (Which she sward she didn’t make, and most certainly didn’t swear in her sister’s name, nor in her own), and cleaned up all the other messes she had created from her montage of boredom. Soon, she had everything gathered up in her magic, and she made her way to her ex-boss’ office.
“We had cleaned up the mess! Where do we put the cli-” She entered, and even dared to turn on the light. Types-Worth and Apple Fritter were... a bit too close, but of their muzzles only an inch away. The moment they heard Luna, they instantly jumped a few feet away from each other.
“Ahhh... Babes- I mean, Apple Fritter... ah... how about you... go get that... other pie... or somethin’... will ya...?”
“Yes sir... on it....”
Apple Fritter left in a hurry, blushing every so clearly.
“Ah... we’ll.... leave now...” Luna awkwardly said, having no idea what that was about- but it seemed weird... and disgusting... she soon found out on some other day when she had found something just like it on the telle’ when the royal guards left it on after their brake (Which soon had them fired by Celestia).
After a long day of finding jobs, just for it to end miserably each time, she had finally returned home exhausted. “Oh, Luna, your ho-” Celestia had greeted her, but to her suprized, was swiftly hugged by Luna.
“We missed thee... sister...” Luna said, tears in her eyes. “Twas’ a horrible... horrible day... we couldn’t hath stand it! Thy would never even belive what hath happened to us! We missed thee... we missed thee...” she sobbed into her sister’s shoulder. Celestia embraced her.
“I missed you to, sister... I missed you to.” Celestia said softly, slowly rubbing Luna’s back to comfort her. Even know they normally go twenty four hours a day without seeing one another do to the fact that Luna sleeps in the day while Celestia sleeps in the night, it was still felt like a whole thousand years for Luna.
In fact, Luna had missed her sister so much, that she was too tired to wait till morning to sleep, and she couldn’t be able to sleep on her own tonight- she didn’t want to. So, Celestia decided to let her sleep with her on her bed for the night, letting Luna cry her sorrow away onto Celestia's shoulder while Celestia sang lullabies to her to sooth her. That night was far better than the Bagpipes, in fact, Luna didn’t need Bagpipes to sooth her anymore- she now feels better whenever she is around her sister, for she loves her ever so much.
Celestia was going to ask Luna what happened to her that day, but decided that that was Future-Celestia’s problem. Instead, Celestia and Luna slept peacefully together, gaining a stronger bond that had kept them from arguing for a thousand years ever again sense.
