Just like any other holiday, while everyone was doing their normal holiday routine such as going on a vacation overseas or whatever stuff they might be doing, a teenage human boy was working alone in his dusty mansion's attic. With bolts and screws scattered all over the dirty wooden floor beside a rusty toolbox, he was working on a project. A project that nobody could EVER find out. A portal to an altered universe, just to make friends. He grabbed a wrench just lying beside him and stopped all of a sudden, rethinking the loneliness that he had in the past...
John Lewis was an ordinary teenager, also an only child in the family. Normally, the only child in a family would get the most attention and love. However, that was quite different in his family though, his parents were always so busy at work that they always hired someone to babysit him when he was little. Until he was able to take care of himself, they left him at home alone whenever they are at work. He tried to stop thinking about the past by continuing his work. He screwed of a bolt with the wrench held earlier. However, the images from the past kept appearing in his mind while he worked.
His parents were workaholics. For every festival, New Year and Christmas, every family events, reunions and gatherings, even his birthday, they always told him the same thing: "Sorry I'm busy, some other time, son."
"Sorry. No time for that."
"Really? It's your birthday today? Well, happy birthday son."
"Work, work, work... It's ALWAYS work! What makes that work is more important than family?" he scolded at his parents as they walked out the huge wooden mansion's door. Although John knew that his parents tended to work more is to make him live a happier and better life. But considering that he was already living in a mansion, with every room he could think of, a living room with a 90 inch flat screen TV, a soundproof music room, an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, an indoor gymnasium, he admitted that he lived a better life. However, he don't quite feel happier. That's the point that he don't get… All he needed was family time with his parents… However, his wish did not came true. He shed a tear and quickly wiped it away on his sleeve.
Besides that, John's parents do not bought toys for him when he was a kid. They said they wanted him to be self-disciplined and some toys may be violent. Whenever he saw a commercial about toys and video games on TV, he ran to his parents room, requested politely: “Mom, dad, can I...”
“If it’s about toys and video games, then NO!” said his mother. “We’ve told you a million times!”
“B-but I...”
“Son, go to your room! You know that we don’t buy toys or video games like any other parents because you may become violent and hurt yourself!” said his father.
“You guys stink! I hate you!” John shouted and stomped out of the room.
“You’ll thank us once you get older! We’re doing this for your own good!”
There's also one thing, John's parents were so busy that they even could not care less about his actions. Therefore, he was free to do anything he wanted. Well, anything that was legal. That included his grades. Whenever he got an ace or a fail, they either congratulate him or told him to work harder. Their attitude towards John made him became disappointed, he tighten both of his fists and ran back quickly to his room.
And because he could not had toys of his own, plus he had more freedom than anyone can get, he sometimes made toys of his own. And when his parents came to check on him on some occasion, he simply hid his toys by throwing them in the attic, where his parents would not bother to go checked on. As time passed by, since the time he could made toys on his own, he was able to make his own stuff, from plastic to wood to metal.
To avoid being caught in the act of making toys and playing with his creation, he thought of a better solution. He climbed up to the dusty attic in his mansion with a bunch of materials in his hands, and made toys using some tools inside a red toolbox just lying in the corner. However, he did not clean the place because he thought of his parents becoming suspicious when they went to check on it, consider that they do not.
Eventually, using the knowledge he learned from computer and technical classes, which was his most favorite and best subjects he learned during high school, he was able to build machines. Well, just simple ones actually, like mini fans and nightlights on his own. He could also make simple video games of his own. Strange at a young age, huh? He took a break from his work, remembered the time when he made the nightlight for the first time and he accidentally put too much batteries on the circuit that it became too hot and caught fire. Luckily, he was able to put out that small flame. Well, most people don't succeed on their first try.
As more time passed, he was able to build much more complex and wireless machines such as a WI-FI and advanced computer programming for virtual gaming and holograms until something made him decide to have a change in life…
Chapter 1: To the virtual world
A few years ago in December 2013, John started watching a show called My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. It all begun when he was watching his friend Nicholas' video.
At the ending of the video, Nicholas sort of "sang" a song called "Pink Fluffy Unicorns Dancing On Rainbows". Normally, John was a sort of a kind of person who could not care less. Just like everyone else he know, nobody would bother to search for some garbage like that. But this time, he was too curious about it so I decided to find out about the origins of this song.
In the end, he found it. Well, the cover animation by FluffyMixer, originally created by Andrew Huang. Instead of annoying he find it amusing. In fact, he became ADDICTED to that song. He annoyed most of his friends in school with that song.
After watching that video, John saw a thumbnail that caught my attention. He moved my mouse over and clicked the title: "Equestria Girls - Helping Twilight Sparkle Win The Crown". He kept his eye glued to the screen for the entire video.
At first, he can't quite put his finger on it that they look so familiar. Come to think of it, he did watched videos called "PMV"s. He remember that I thought that the orange colored pony with the yellow mane and the blue one with a rainbow colored mane are colts, consider that they had no lower eyelashes. He also did some research on them and found out that the two ponies were named Applejack and Rainbow Dash respectively. Generally, Jack and Dash were meant to be a boy's name, but somehow they were girls in this video, and he thought boys a girl's cartoon was meant to have upper eyelashes only. And after some more research on his computer, he double confirmed that Applejack and Rainbow Dash were mares in the original series and after he saw the Equestria Girls movie, he was eager to be friends with the wielders of friendship.
"And... Done!" John monologue to himself while he screwed off the last bolt. And to his surprise, he found out that the portal was making looked like a toilet seat with a slideshow projector stuck to the ceiling pointing down to the seat and a steel bucket on the table that would be helmet, all connected with cables and wires to an old computer. In fact, the machine IS made out of those things.
"Alright, time to go!" He programmed his virtual profile, sat on the so-called "toilet" and put on the steel bucket helmet. At that moment, he thought carefully about going to an alternate dimension that he know nothing of. After the long pause on the wooden chair, he made up his mind and decided to go there.
"Okay, here... I... GO!" He pressed the big "Enter" key on the keyboard. The projector on the ceiling erected a beam on light on he. At that moment he felt like he was going to perform on stage or something like that. Suddenly, his vision became white, like I was blind.
Swoom! "Okay, this is gonna hurt..." At that moment he felt that he was riding a rollercoster. It was either that or the when Twilight went to the human world and came back to the pony world by a swirly portal in the movie. "Ooooooh Goooooooooood!" After that, it was a blank for John...
Chapter 2: First day in virtual
"Hey..." a weak voice spoke. "Hey!" it got louder. "Unless you wanna get late for your first day at your new school, GET UP, THREE OF YOU!" a feminine voice shouted like a nuclear explosion followed by three "Oof"s.
Now remember the virtual profile I mentioned earlier? Well, here it is. I made three split personalities, each with different powers and abilities. All of them also had similar personalities, the only difference was their appearance.
I shall start off with the first one, Broadsword, a swordsman with inhuman strength and extremely high resistance to any attack, equipped with a broadsword (Duh!) with half the length of the sword that Cloud from Final Fantasy 7 and Auron from Final Fantasy 10 wield. He also had spiky blonde hair and blue eyes. His blade can also extend to twice the length when shone under the sunlight that I like to call "Blade Extension". Of course, he can only do that when he wanted to.
The second one was Jax Lance, an swift angel with a spear that goes "BOOM" when the spear was thrown and hit the desired target which I called "Javelin Bomb". He had short black hair with a long fringe which is combed to the right that almost covered his right eye. He was also quite boastful at some times.
And last but not least is Spell Caster, also known as Caster for short, a redheaded mage with a horn on his head. He liked to read books especially his "Book of Magics" that he held most of the time. He was also optimistic and had very logical thinking. He had very high reflex and "Six Sense" whenever danger was approaching.
Now in case you have not forgotten, I went into the world of the human version of "My Little Pony", which is the world of the "Equstria Girls", so all of the three splits had their powers concealed and can only summon their powers when there is any emergencies or nobody was watching. Even the virtual family cannot even know about that secret.
"Coming mom!" yelled Broadsword. The trios quickly got ready and scurried down the stairs.
"Here's your lunch boys. Make a first good impression at school. Don't get into trouble, understand?" said virtual mom.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever!" replied Jax impatiently while they walked out the door.
"Hey, guys! Hurry up!" shouted Jax from a distance.
"You know, it won't hurt to save your energy..." muttered Caster.
"Didn't you remember? He can't wait to meet Rainbow Dash in person." teased Broadsword.
"Keep your opinions to yourself!" Jax pointed Broadsword.
"In that case, we must hurry! Let's go!" said Caster.
"Yeah!" Jax and Broadsword agreed.
The boys arrived at Canterlot High School and stood by the big glass doors.
"Aren't we supposed to get a tour around the school by someone?" Jax became impatient.
"We better wait," adviced Caster.
"I'll have you know that I have better things to do than standing here like a total moron!" Jax folded his arms.
"By better things to do, did you mean meeting Rainbow Dash?" Broadsword mocked.
"Well, you're no better than I am! You're here to meet Applejack!" Jax mocked back. "And Caster here is going to meet Fluttershy!"
"Why was I dragged into your stupid argument?" Caster raised an eyebrow. "So what? At least I kept a low profile on it. Anyway, it's our first day in here and we don't want to make a bad impression for everyone, now do we?"
"Excuse me, are you the new transfer student I'm supposed to show around?" a familiar voice spoke. The boys turned around and saw... "Sunset Shimmer?"
"You know my name?"
"Uh... yeah..." Caster muttered. When John Lewis, also known as "I" from the Prologue and Chapter 1, creator of the three splits, is too busy making the portal, he forgot that Sunset Shimmer also lives in that world. Fortunately, Sunset Shimmer had changed her ways and become one of the good guys, and that is not a problem now for the three splits.
"Anyway... About the tour?" requested Caster.
"Oh, right. Just follow me."
"Now why do I think this moment looks awfully familiar?" Broadsword whispered to Jax.
Jax nodded. "Mm hmm."
After the tour, Sunset Shimmer left the three splits and went to class.
"Well, we best also get to class," said Caster.
Jax and Broadsword were not so amused. "Whatever." "Yeah, sure."
"Knew you guys would react like that... Wait till you see which class we're going to." Caster took out a piece of paper.
Jax took the paper and looked at it.
"Hey, isn't Sunset Shimmer heading to the class we're supposed to go now?" Broadsword leaned over to take a peek at the paper Jax was holding.
"Yup, and you know what that means..." Caster began excited.
"All the mane six will be there!" Jax also got excited.
"Well not all of them." Broadsword raised a finger. "Twilight is in the other dimension and there's another one but does not attend C.H.S."
"Does it really matter to you?" Jax raised an eyebrow.
"Technically no. But if we keep saying the mane six, wouldn't that be awkward?"
"Well, Sunset Shimmer is one of them now so it's okay that we keep saying the mane 6. Unless of course either of the Twilights came and we will say the mane 7 instead, um... or is it eight?" Caster explained.
"Forget about the that! What is this? A type of Mach speed? You know, Mach 3, Mach 4, Mach 5?" Jax joked.
"Yeah it's confusing. Who cares anyway? Well, we best hurry!" said Caster.
The boys rushed towards the classroom Sunset Shimmer was heading.
When Sunset Shimmer sat on her place, she was asked about the guys that she took on the school tour.
"...and they even know my name instantly when they saw me," said Sunset.
"Maybe it's because you are really good back at the Sirens incident, or back at the Fall Formal when you turned into that scary demon," explained Pinkie Pie.
"You know, nobody ever cares about the past. Unless of course they can't keep up with the present," said Rarity.
"Alright class, today we have three new exchange student that will be joining us from now on," said Miss Cheerilee.
The class gave a round of applause as three boys walked in and introduced themselves.
"Hey Sunset Shimmer, are those the guys that you took on the school tour?" asked Applejack. "Because they all look like just as you described."
"Indeed they are," she replied.
"They sure look quite good looking," said Applejack.
"Hey, if you like them, you better be quick, because Rarity had got a head start," teased Rainbow Dash as Rarity introduced herself to the trios: "Hi my name's Rarity and I...*blablablabla*...*yaddayaddayadda*...*over 9000 words (sounds familiar? Haha!)*..."
All the girls gave a look to Rarity. "What? It is wrong to make new friend?" she asked as she turned back.
"Ahem...... BOY-friends!" mocked Rainbow Dash while the others giggled.
"Why I yadda...... HMPH!" Rarity crossed her arms.
"If everyone is settled, we will start our lessons now," said Miss Cheerilee.
"Making contact, checked," whispered Caster. "Although Rarity may not be the one we like but it helps us to make friends with the others."
Jax and Broadsword smiled.
For every class the splits went, they always will be the same class with the mane 6. When it's time for recess the splits walked slowly to the cafeteria.
"This is great! We get to see the mane 6 in every class!" said Jax.
"Well, I would rather keep up with my studies," said Caster.
"We shouldn't have programmed you to be a total nerd," said Jax.
"Hey, do you think I want to be a nerd? When we came to this world our personalities are divided by our powers we get!" Caster pointed Jax.
"Uh... guys... where do we sit?" Broadsword asked as they walked into the fully-filled cafeteria.
"Oh, great! We are programmed to have unique powers, be in the same class with the mane 6 but we have not programmed to have our very own table at the cafeteria?" Jax raged.
"Just shut your mouth up and look for an empty table!" Caster scanned the area.
"Yoohoo! Over here!" The boys turned around and saw Rarity waving at them from a distance.
"I guess we don't have to look for and empty table after all, huh?" Broadsword gave a smile to his other splits.
