Cadance was lying in her bed, resting from the party from the previous day.
With the word "party" you must have imagined lots of ponies dancing, laughing and having fun, but it was actually just one of the traditional celebrations of the rich couple Michael Galaopp and Pearl Wings, Cadance's parents. Adoptive parents, actually.
Michael Galaopp and Pearl Wings were two very important pegasus in Canterlot; Pearl worked as princess Celestia's personal assistant and Michael was owner of the city's bigger hospital, maybe the Equestria's bigger.
Their parties were just a bunch of rich ponies drinking tea and talking about job, policy, you know, boring things.
The only reasons of these parties were promotion on job and, you, know, MORE boring things.
Cadance could not even think in participate in a celebration like this, but that's okay, her parents don't even want her to participate.
The couple adopted her just with the purpose of making her a rich and famous mare, turning them even more rich and famous. But they gave up when Cadance start to show disinterest on these things.
Of course Cadance was just a young filly, but they start to treat her like a housekeeper.
And do you know who was the responsible for almost all the party's organization? Yes. Cadance stayed the all party in the kitchen, making more and more appetizers,
Hours before all the parties start, Pearl always made a speech, and Cadance already know it in her head.
"Focus, don't talk to anypony, don't leave the kintchen..."
And after all that several hours making appetizers, she was VERY tired.
"When will this nightmare over?" she thought, changind her position in the bed.
And then she remembered it, her life's best moment...
It was a normal day at the orphanage, and then the kids were advised that they had a visit.
Everypony start imagining who was the visit, until SHE came: princess Celestia.
The little ponies stared at her. They have already listened histories about he beauty, kindness and knowledge, but they had never seen her.
She sads that she was there to helpe the kids. She have already donated money and she wanted to visit them to tell them were not lower to anypony, but they were strong and brave.
Everypony rushed to the princess and stardet telling things to her and asking her questions.
But in that momente, the happier pony was Cadance. She always wanted to meet a princess, and there she was.
She walked to the princess.
"Today's my birthday." She lied. She know lying was wrong, but that was the only thing she could say to call the princess' attention.
"And how old do you do?" Celestia said, smiling to Cadance.
Cadance blushed.
"Nine." She replied.
Celestia giggle.
"Are you nervous? Do you want to tell me why?" She gently said.
"Nothing." Cadance replied, embarassed. Some ponies giggle behind her.
"Would you like to talk alone with me?" Celestia gently asked, and guide Cadance to the exit.
"Wow, how lucky!"
"I wish I could talk alone with the princess!"
Cadance could hear some ponies whispering.
Celestia take a lily of the ground and give it to Cadance.
"You're a very special little filly. I noticed that in you. You got something that not everypony got. Do you want to know what?"Cadance nodded."You got determination. When you told me it was your birthday, I noticed that you just wanted to call my attention. But is this you told me true?"
" Well...no..." Cadance blushed and Celestia giggled.
" It's okay to tell somepony a innocent little lie when it is for a good cause!" Celestia smiled. " You will have a good future. You can be a princess just like me, or even most important!"
Cadance smiled. Of course she would like to be aprincess, but she knew that was impossible.
After all thet years Cadance still had the lily that Celestia gave her.
"Me, a princess..." She giggled.
"CADENZA!" Cadance hear her mother calling her. She hated when her mother called her that way.
" I'm going!" She screamed back.
Then she looked at her lily, sighed and left the room.
