//-------------------------------------------------------// Bad assistant -by RavenGear- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 Spike walked down the dark narrow hallway. Lights mounted over bland, metal doors on either side flickered gently, some more than others. The walls were a pale grey, the floor cement, the ceiling white. His small feet made a pattering sound as he walked. Square plates were positioned on the side of each door, the words written on them too faded to be read, but that didn't matter. Spike knew where he was going. "SPIIIIIIIKE!!!" Twilight yelled as the purple dragon rose from his sleep. Had he overslept? He looked at the small alarm clock resting next to him. 12:05. No, he hadn't. In fact, it was a far time away from wake-up time. Why was twilight yelling at him? "SPIKE! GET UP HERE!!!" Another holler sounded from upstairs before he snapped to his senses and ran up to the second floor. She had set up a great machine, wires and Pistons surrounded a great platform that was three feet across and wide. "What is it, Twilight?" He rounded the corner of the hall and started counting down the number of doors. He was getting closer now, he knew it. What was it? Third door down from the next corner? He stopped and shook his head. He was getting a headache. The doors were getting more sparing the further he walked, and there was indeed a corner in the hallway coming up... "Spike! There you are!" Twilight exclaimed. She handed him a oversized, dog-eared book and continued her work. He stumbled around, not accustomed to the weight suddenly put on him. "T-Twilight? What do you need? For me to hold this?" Twilight dashed around the upstairs of the library, bringing more books upstairs and throwing them on a ever-growing pile, before attaching more and more science tools to the great machine. "I would-d not call you up here just to hold a book, Spike. I am on the verge of a b-breakthrough in magic." Twilight said shakily. She motioned for Spike to stay there as she trotted over to a generator in the corner of the room. "But Twilight, what does it do?" He asked, only now noticing how untidy the alicorn was. Her hair was completely undone, and with dark bags under her eyes, which were twitching seemingly uncontrollably. "Oh, don't worry Spike... I'll show you..." He neared the door he was going to. He noticed, it was getting increasingly darker the more he walked. it was pitch black by the time he reached the door, the one and only source of light was the fluorescent light above the door giving off a glow. Then, he heard it. I hear my number-one assistant... Her voice was like he was hearing it through fifty feet of water, and it was coming from behind the door. "T-Twilight?" He asked, although he did not expect a answer. Twilight plugged in a massive cable, electric lights turning on all over the room. Steam began billowing from the huge machine, and to Spike's horror, stepped onto the platform. A triumphant smile crossed over her face under her narrowed eyes. "Twi! This can't be good for you, you need to get away from here!" A burst of steam coming from a pipe on the side of the machine silenced Spike's panicked cries. She was laughing manically now, as huge rays of light burst from the smoke. "NOW I WILL BE THE MOST POWERFUL UNICORN IN ALL OF-" she was cut off by the sound of a bolt popping. Spike watched in stunned horror as the entire machine tumbled around Twilight. As the smoke and dust cleared, he could make out a small, crumpled, smoking shape resting on the cracked surface of the platform. It was breathing. "Twilight? Are you ok?" He approached Twilight carefully. He could hear her raspy breathing. "Twi?" Suddenly, her head snapped up, sporting a insane grin, and she went into a full gallop out the door into the night. The voice slipped through the door into Spikes's ears. Spike... How is my number one assistant today...? She whispered. Even though every nerve in his body told him not to, he began opening the door. The raspy breathing from inside intensified. The room was made entirely of cement. There, chained to the opposite wall, was Princess Twilight Sparkle. "T..Twilight? It's really you?" Spike asked, although he already knew the answer. Twilight was gone. He didn't even know what was in front of him. He looked around the bland room some more, and spotted a small table, off to the right. Forgotten papers on its surface. You don't want to touch that, Spike. Twilight's voice once again floated past Spike, disoriented and echoey. That sealed his decision. He walked over to the table and hoisted himself up. He began reading the first paper. Name: Twilight Sparkle Charged for illegal black magic Captured by Princess Celestia with assistance of Royal guard 12:22 am Spike could not believe his eyes. You should not have read that Spike, that is not what a good number one assistant does. Her horn was cut off, and her wings clipped. But she still held some of her strength. She began to pull at her bindings, slowly edging them out of the wall. The noise of clinking metal and crumbling cement brought Spike to his senses, but as he looked up... You've been a very bad assistant Spike.
