Of God Eaters and Ponies

[Ruby’s POV]

"It was suppose to be a scouting mission.....how did it turn out like this?"

Was all I could think of while running as fast as I could from the bloody massacre. It was all my fault. All my friends were killed by Aragamis because of my fear and being so careless. We were not prepared for this. Especially me since I was the least experienced out of my friends. Memories of how I met my friends, from us achieved our God Arc's, to how we fought together in our first mission, and our first Type 1 Deusphage flashed across my mind.

“How could the Director do this to us? How could he send 4 unprepared soldiers ike us to scout and find Venus and Caligula? Why did are leader leave us when we spotted Venus?”

        All of this was overwhelming. I stopped after seeing the memories of my fallen comrades flash before me. Tears began to blur my vision as I fell to my knees and let out loud wails of agony of not only the realization of what happened to my friends being gone, but the fact that I was all alone. Even if I went back, nothing could change that. I would end up alone either way.

“First my parents...and now my friends. How could this get any worse?”

While I was sitting there I felt something wet hit the top of my head. I thought it was rain until I heard a low growl. I slowly turn around and with fear in my heart, I saw it was Caligula hovering above me with blood dripping from its fangs from the "meal" he had earlier. I rolled to the left and countered its attack with an Oracle Bullet before the beast could’ve attack me with its hidden blade. Before I could do anything to Caligula, the wall in front of me exploded, leaving debris everywhere and revealing Venus running towards me. I was able to activate my shield and defend myself from her upcoming attack. At least my fast reflexes were helpful for something. When Venus and my shield collided, I was thrown through the air before feeling five to six walls of solid concrete crash through my body. I would normally be able to handle something like that if it was from a Quadriga since they aren't that strong. However, seeing as how it's a new evolution of Aragami, it was twice as strong which means me hitting the walls only made things twice as worse.

I was then flung through the window after my body went through the sixth wall as I began to fall out of a building I was running and hiding in. I turned on my God Arc into a gun and shot an Oracle Bullet at myself in order to slow the speed of me falling to the ground down. Unfortunately, the gun didn't help me with my landing as I fell through the top of a rusty old car.

“The universe just loves to fuck around with my life, doesn't it?" I grumbled trying to pull myself out of the car. As soon as those words left my mouth, Venus and Caligula jumped down to where I was. "Yep the universe loves to fuck around with me." I was able get out of the car with the help of an Oracle bullet pushing me. Just as I was running out of the vehicle, the two Aragamis landed on the car, crushing it. The only thing I could do was run, seeing how the equipment I have couldn't break through Venus' and Caligula's armor-like skin. Going up against an enemy that no one knows about, especially someone with indestructible armor, is suicidal. With the weapons I have, I knew I wasn't going to stand a chance in beating them. I'd be lucky if I even survived!

As I was thinking of plans of trying to escape, a sudden particle of light passed by my vision. I looked around to find the source of the light and saw a bright ball of plasma energy forming in front of Venus. My eyes widened as Venus fired two beams at me. "Holy Mother of-" Was all I was able to say before getting hit by the beam that sent me flying through the air and into a rusty metal wall. I slide to the ground on my back as blood ran down my eye from an open wound on the side of my head. My vision was blurry from the hit I took as I slowly stood up. My entire body screamed in pain, but I ignored it and began limping away. I activated the S.O.S beacon, hoping for someone, anyone, to come and save me. Unfortunately, because of me being out of range, I knew it would be useless

I was limping backwards, almost losing my footing. I looked behind me to see the edge of a cliff and  a dark abyss. The abyss was so dark, that not even the sun could brighten it. I continued looking in the darkness, forgetting about my current situation. That is, until Caligula and Venus started walking towards me. Caligula had his hidden blades out and in a crouching position while Venus charged for another attack.

“At this point, I have three options. The first option would be to go out guns a blazing like how people do in the movies. The second option is to stand here like a dear in headlights and get what's coming to me. Or the third option; fall to my death," I muttered to myself looking at my situation. I let out a sigh of defeat, knowing that the first option wasn't my style. I know it would hurt like hell if I stood here like a deer and waited for my demise, but I'd  pretty much like to have my organs inside of me and not splattered all over the ground.

"Ricky.....Anna....Mai.....Johnny.....I'm sorry that I got you all killed because of my fear. I wouldn't blame you if you all hated me...." I limped backwards even further towards the edge. "I'm sorry that all I could do was just stand there and do nothing when Caligula ate you, sister Ricky." I take one last look at the Aragami that was ready to attack me. "And above all else, I'm sorry that.....that I couldn't say good-bye." Tears ran down my face as I softly smiled, leaning backwards and falling into the endless abyss.

'I know it's too late to say this, and I don't know if any of you will hear me, but I'll say it again......Good-bye, my friends....' Ever so slowly, my vision was covered by blackness, waiting for everything to be over. 'What will happen to me when I die?.....Will someone remember me.....or will I be forgotten....I guess it doesn't matter now seeing how the director can replace recruits like me anytime.' The only thing I felt was my body hitting something hard, a tremendous amount of pain, and then, nothing.
