In Brightest Day: The Second Front
Chapter 9: Agenda (Part 1)
Previous ChapterA few days had passed since the Sirens decided to put their plan into action, there hadn't been any major incidents going on in the city since the battle between the Crimson Dragon and Green Guardian against Diamante Elegante, there had been a few instances of missing trinkets here and there, but nothing too major. The only sightings of the Crimson Dragon being either late at night, early in the morning, or late in the afternoon, but while she was their target, Diamante was their first goal.
Based upon the stolen trinkets and objects around the city, Adagio put together that Diamante frequented downtown a lot as the majority of the more high-end retail shops were located there, over the course of a five days they managed to deduce that the best place to hold their concert was at the park nearest the shops. They set to work that Friday, using their power to "persuade" some vendors to provide them with an outdoor stage, sound equipment, and stagehands for their concert on Saturday.
Now the day had come, and it was right around the time when Diamante usually made her stealing rounds.
Adagio and her sisters were backstage preparing for their big debut, with Sonata peeking out through the curtain. The sidewalks had many people walking about, and there were a large number of people in the park as well…
…but only one among them would be the ring wielder that they wanted.
Not too far from the park, Sunset growled as she stormed through the city, she just needed to get out of that house and away from her family. She didn't need this grief, especially when they weren't even her real family from Equestria. They were just copies, fakes, and as such they weren't her problem, they were the other Sunset's problem.
Although that was a worry of hers, that one day the Sunset Shimmer of this world would pop in on them one day and screw up everything. 'So… so what if she does?! I have my ring, I don't need to stay there if I don't want to. She can have them, I'll just fly off and find someplace else to live and take what I want to live. It's not like anyone can stop me… well, maybe except for one person…' She narrowed her eyes as bitter memories of her first encounter with the Green Guardian returned.
She was powerful, skilled, and annoyingly self-righteous, all while acting like some sad excuse for a mentor or teacher, trying to show her the "right way" or whatever BS she was trying to shove down her throat. The Green Guardian wasn't just a problem, she was an obstacle, and Sunset knew if she was going to get anywhere that she needed to get stronger. She needed more power so that the next time that emerald do-gooder got in her way, she'd be able to stomp her ass into the ground, and then take her ring to add to her power.
The former Unicorn continued her walk down the streets, stopping by the park. Finding a nearby bench she sighed heavily and sat down, thinking about how to plan out her next move carefully. 'I might've been able to take down the yellow one on my own, but who knows where that ring is now. There's always the orange one, but she's way too unstable, and that damn ring of hers drains my power. The only benefit from that is that it does the same to the Green bitch, so she can't stop her either… but then there's the blue one…' Sunset groaned as she ruffled her own hair out of frustration. 'Ugh! No matter what I do, I can't take down any of these dipshits on my own! If it's not one thing it's a fucking other!' Taking a deep breath, Sunset slumped against the bench. "I am not doing something right? The ring came to me, I have enough rage to burn this whole city to the ground… so why is it not enough?"
Just then, something caught her eye.
A girl with purple curled hair, a powder blue blouse, and purple skirt was moving around the park erratically, looking as if everyone was going to steal something from her and was trying to keep from getting too close to her. Sunset arched a brow, she felt as if she knew this girl, or had at least seen her somewhere before. There was something else that caught her attention, something orange was wrapped around her right middle finger.
"Could it be…?" Sunset mumbled to herself as she stood up and followed her deeper into the park…
"Man, do we know how to bring in a crowd or what girls? The whole park is packed!" Sonata exclaimed in excitement. "It's been a while since the three of us were able to get on stage like this…"
"Heh, yeah. That was like, what? Three-hundred years ago?" Aria snarked, reading over their song lyrics as Adagio checked herself, her outfit, and her sisters' outfits.
"Try five-hundred, the Roman amphitheater." Aria gave an irritated growl as she let Adagio fuss over her clothes like a denmother, she then pulled Sonata from the curtains and did the same to her. "We have to make sure this doesn't end up like that. Or like the incident seventy years ago."
"Ugh, how were we supposed to know that that guy was going to start World War II?!" Sonata pouted defensively. "He was such a cute little guy."
"A cute little guy who grew up into a homicidal dictator bent on world domination." Added Aria.
Sonata scratched her head and asked, "Isn't that what we're basically trying to do?"
Adagio, having finished her fussing over their clothes turned to her youngest sister. "Ruling and killing are two very different things. That's why I'll admit that that was not one of our finest hours, and I do regret that to a degree. However, if we do this right, we can get that orange psycho to overpower anyone and anything that tries to stand in our way."
"Speaking of which..." Aria interjected as she held up a few papers. "...do these lyrics have to be so... on the nose? I mean, we're basically spelling out our intentions."
"That's why we have these costumes!" Sonata cheered as she gestured to her outfit. "Everyone will just think it's all part of the show, and once we really start using our magic..."
"...it'll be far too late for anyone to wise up." Adagio finished with a coy smile, her necklace sparking with energy. "And once our subliminal messages take effect later on, we won't have to worry about them turning on us."
"Heh. Now that's an actual plan." Aria snarked as she adjusted her twin pigtail hair. "Much better than what happened with this world's version of Magnus."
"Hey it was a moment of weakness okay?!" Adagio fumed.
"A moment of weakness? More like ten!" Sonata snickered, causing Adagio's cheeks to heat up. "Then again, he did look damn good shirtless-"
"Can we focus on the task at hand? Please?" Adagio quickly interrupted, massaging her temples in irritation before calming herself and slipped on a pair of spiked, fingerless gloves. "Besides, our adoring public awaits, and we'll soon to be one step closer to gaining back our glory days." The eldest sibling explained as she brought her sisters into a group hug/huddle, she brought their heads close to touch each other as she smiled and looked between them. "This is our first step towards our goal, are you ready?"
Aria and Sonata smiled sinisterly, Adagio was right, this was their chance. Their chance to finally gain real power over these humans, over this world, to no longer live in the shadows and become parasites that skulk in the background. Now they would be able to change this world to their liking, and it all started with one concert.
The first of many.
And in response to their resolve, the gems on each of their necklaces flickering with energy, ready to draw upon any and all energy from the large crowd outside…
It wasn't every day Sunset found herself attending such a... public event. Honestly, she'd have preferred to avoid such a large gathering if she could. However she wasn't about to lose the only possible lead she had. Sadly, this became even more difficult as her target started blending into the crowd. From what she'd been able to learn, apparently some group called "the Dazzlings" had announced that they would be hosting a large, free-to-attend performance at Camelot Park, which somewhat explained the crowd. 'Still, this is kinda weird.... I mean, I get having a favorite singing group… but these people didn't show up until this week.' She thought to herself as it became more of a hassle to pursue her target. 'Something about this just smells wrong... ' She thought to herself as she pushed past some people, the stage at the center of the park coming into view. The curtains obscuring most of the stage were various shades of deep orange, cyan, and purple with three crimson gems arranged in a triangle formation right above the stage at the center.
“Well, whoever put this all together certainly spared no expense.” Sunset thought as she pushed her way to the front of the crowd, but sadly she couldn’t catch sight of the purple-haired girl. Sunset groaned in irritation, almost ready to admit defeat, believing she’d lost track of her... however, her attempt to leave was quickly cut short as music filled the air and drew her attention.
The stage erupted with fireworks and smoke, capturing the attention of more civilians. Men, women, teens, people of various ages stopped to see the spectacle that was unfolding before them. The curtain opened up and revealed three girls dressed as Witches who seemed to be roughly her age, possibly older. Two of them she recognized right away, the girl with pigtails she had bumped into a few days ago, and the blue haired one was the one who managed to pull the other away before Sunset could kick her ass.
However she had to admit, the third one was strangely easy on the eyes.
The lead singer took the mic into her hands and announced to everyone, "Hello Canterlot City, I'm Adagio Dazzle, and these are my sisters, Sonata Dusk," She began, gesturing to the blue-skinned girl, who waved excitedly. "and Aria Blaze!" She finished, then gesturing to the pigtailed girl, who simply bowed in response. "We're the Dazzlings, and we're here to cast a spell on you! Hit it, sisters!" Adagio Dazzle announced she took center stage while Aria and Sonata flanked her, the trio striking a pose as they started to sing.
Adagio, Sonata, and Aria danced around the stage, with the lead Siren putting some extra sway in her hips as she looked out into the crowd with a sultry, half-lidded stare. She knew out there somewhere in that lake of people before her, their prize awaited them, the one who could give them the power they needed to rule this world. Their song wasn't just a normal song to stoke negative emotions and feed off of them, although they could, but that wasn't their goal. No, this song was meant to bring out the one with the ring, and somewhere out there she was hearing this.
Sunset was feeling strange, she didn't know why but she found herself just listening and staring at the lead singer. She wasn't very interested in these teeny bopper girl bands, but this band intrigued her, not to mention the lead singer. That girl was… was… mesmerizing, her long, curly amber locks, her sparkling orchid colored eyes, and those swaying hips, they were almost… hypnotic.
Sunset shook her head at that last thought, she was a fillyfooler back in Equestria, there wasn't a mare or stallion that didn't want a role in the hay with her. Both because - not to be narcissistic - she was hot as hell, and because she was the apprentice of the Princess of Equestria, so there was no shortage of ponies who were looking to ride her coattails to higher status, but she was too smart for them. She'd get what she wanted from them, and then leave them high and dry, well, not too dry. That being said, after living in this world for some time, she had started to feel some sort of way towards the human form, these hands did have their uses, but this girl, she enticed her unlike any of the girls at her school.
Adagio took center stage as the girls added some haunting vocals in the background, the smoke around the stage started to rise as Adagio swirled her hands in front of her, making the smoke gather around them. She looked out into the crowd again, her eyes giving off a faint red glow as the crystal pendant on her necklace glowed in conjunction.
Adagio then fanned her hands out, making the smoke she gathered flow out into the crowd, not knowing that her motion was actually sending out a wave of magical energy that washed over the unsuspecting spectators, their prey was here, she could feel it. Now she just needed to bring them out, hopefully.
In another part of the crowd, another ring-user listened intently, she was moved, deeply moved by this song, by the girls who were singing. It was as if they were singing to her and her alone, the rest of these plebeians be damned, they were singing for her. She wanted to devote herself to them, to be by their side, and despite the lyrics that were being sung, she could hear other words, the real message hidden in their song.
"Come to us, we know you're there…"
"Come and join us, there's no need to fear."
"Come and join us, show your power."
“Come and join us, now bring it all to bear…"
"Look at them all." A voice sneered as they watched the show from afar. "Scurrying around like rodents… vermin… if it were up to me I'd go down there and start tearing their hearts out one by one." At that they gripped their hand, the ring on them shining… revealing a strange but memorable symbol on it.
"But she has bigger plans… she always did plan farther ahead than most." They said with an almost zealous fervor. "I just need to be patient."
That being said, as she watched the display before her, she couldn't help but feel tempted by the various emotions that arose from the crowd…
A few snippets of joy…
...various forms of love…
…an immense amount of greed…
…a few small hints of fear here and there…
…so many vulnerable emotions, just ripe enough to be snuffed out by her hand… but no, patience was key here… she'd have her chance soon enough…
[NEW EMOTION DETECTED. MASSIVE QUANTITIES OF RAGE IN VICINITY.] Her ring soon spoke to her in a monotone but harsh sounding voice, as if a corpse was learning to speak again for the first time in ages.
"Rage…? Well now, that's rather interesting." The figure said to her ring before bringing it in close. "Any other emotion that's registering on the same wavelength?"
[ACCEPTABLE EQUAL DETECTED. GREED HAS SUDDENLY JUMPED UP IN AREA CLOSE TO RAGE. UNKNOWN REASONS WHY.] The ring helpfully replied before going quite once more.
Suddenly, a more familiar voice called out from the ring. "The moment we've been waiting for has arrived, but our method still requires a stealthy approach." The voice explained as the ring crackled with energy. "You may call in two of our elite agents, and carry out our operation from there..."
"Understood." The figure replied, narrowing her eyes with a rather devious smile before snapping her fingers, and in almost an instant two figures landed behind her...
The figure that stood by her right side was a rather bulky looking man whose skin was a muted yellow color indicating they were likely dead for a long while. His attire consisted of a no sleeve shirt over his body, a pair of fingerless gloves with a black ring over his hand, a pair of dark baggy pants that hugged his waist tightly, a pair of boots, and his hair buried beneath a messy gray wig while his eyes were hidden by a black domino type mask.
The figure on their left was more feminine yet had quite a toned body as well. Her attire was more of a short gray hoodie with the ring's symbol on the hood, a similar pair of fingerless gloves, a pair of skin tight pants, similar sleek boots as the other, and their face was hidden under the hood and a neck gaiter mask over her mouth and nose.
And over both of their chests was the symbol of the Black Lanterns.
The figure then gestured to the crowd below. "Two of our adversaries are down there, their lights must be snuffed out before they become a greater threat to our master's plan." She stated before turning to face them. "You both know what to do, seek them out first, and… "welcome" them into our ranks." She added with a malicious smile.
"Come to us, we know you're there…"
"Come and join us, there's no need to fear."
"Come and join us, show your power."
“Come and join us, now bring it all to bear…"
These were the words that Sunset was hearing as well, she wanted to power up, she wanted to show these three girls her awesome power, to gain their attention, their admiration, their affection.
However, she was beaten to the punch.
Just as the song ended, an orange light erupted from the crowd, blinding all those close to the epicenter. When the light faded, Adagio, Aria, and Sonata broke into wide grins, seeing that their plan had actually worked.
"We did it girls!" Adagio exclaimed.
"Huh, well I'll be damned." Aria smirked.
"Wow, it's Mandarin Orange Slice Psycho!" Sonata squealed.
Diamante Elagante was now floating above the crowd, fully donned in her armor, her eyes fixated on the three girls, her eyes only for them.
Sunset, snapping out of whatever little stupor she was put into, turned her head upwards and saw the greedy bitch had returned. The former unicorn looked about the area, trying to find the girl she suspected might be that orange freak, but if she was still there, the crowd was too damn thick to even see her. 'Whatever, first thing's first, I need to deal with that one! Ugh, but she can drain my ring's power… I need a distraction or-!'
As if by divine providence, a figure in a black cloak shot out of the blindsided the Diamante, sending the both of them crashing into a vacant spot just to the right of the stage. In response the crowd quickly started to panic and disperse, turning into a full blown stampede as they ran for their lives.
Sunset blinked and allowed herself a small smirk. "That'll work." With the distraction given, Sunset looked around for somewhere to transform, but the place was too crowded and there was no way she'd be able to make it to the back of the stage to transform.
That's when she saw her last resort; a portable outhouse, several of which had been set up for this impromptu concert.
'Fuck me, no… of all the indignities…' Sunset growled angrily as she shoved her way through the stampede of people and entered one
About a second later, the outhouse exploded in a burst of red fire that burned all of them down, and in their place was none other than the Crimson Dragon herself. "I am NEVER doing that again! Now then…" Sunset shot a fiery glare towards the two clashing ring users and grinned. "Time to claim a new ring while that greedy bitch is-!"
[ALERT! INCOMING ENEMY DETECTED! DEATH ENERGY DETECTED!]
"Wait, what?!"
In a similar manner as Diamante, another cloaked figure tackled Sunset from behind, throwing both herself and the assailant to the ground as they plowed through the dirt and grass for several seconds before Sunset angrily released a burst of her red light, throwing the attacker off her.
The Crimson Dragon quickly flipped around and struck the ground with her dragon head arm, using it as a means to slow herself down. After a few seconds she had come to a stop and shifted her gaze forwards to see who it was that attacked her.
To her displeasure however, it seemed that the black robed figure had a partner, but this assailant seemed much bulkier compared to the other one. "Ah crap, not another one of you undead freaks!" Sunset groaned as she laid her eyes on the black ring.
"Ah don't particularly like fightin' girls. If at all possible, Ah'd rather make this as quick and painless as Ah can for Ya."The brawny Black Lantern sighed as his ring sparked with energy.
"Oh, isn't that sweet? A zombie with chivalry. But haven't you heard?" Sunset scoffed as she raised her right arm and opened the dragon head's mouth. "CHIVALRY IS DEAD!" She snapped before releasing a blast of flaming red energy, shooting the undead through the chest and blowing a hole through him.
Meanwhile, Diamente Elegante was busy wrestling with the Black Lantern atop of her. "Please don't make this any harder than it already is! Ah promise to make it as fast and painless as Ah can!"
"YOU'RE TRYING TO KEEP ME FROM THEM!" The Orange Lantern snarled fiercely as her body erupted with vermillion light, throwing the female Black Lantern away from her and into the side of a building. "I. WON'T. LET YOU!"
Diamante's ring then glowed brighter as she created two large, living diamond construct snakes. The twin serpents hissed as they bolted straight for where female Black Lantern impacted, smashing their heads in that direction to try and bite her in two. But the undead female burst through the roof before that could happen, the serpents were hot on her tail, but a blast of dark light from her ring made one of the serpents cry in pain as it fell from the sky and landed on the ground, shattering to pieces. The second serpent managed to strike the zombie with a tail whip, sending her careening towards Diamante. The greedy lantern concentrated the ring's energy and fired a large blast of energy at the undead, hitting her in the chest and causing an explosion that rang out through the area.
However, this was only a temporary setback as the undead Lantern burst through the cloud of smoke, but Diamante quickly erected a barrier, blocking the zombie from getting at her heart. The zombie had created a claw construct over her right hand, with said claw digging into the sphere of energy, making it through a couple inches at a time.
On the other side of the field, Sunset was in the middle of a shooting match with the male Black Lantern. Having healed from his wound in less than a second he quickly started firing energy blasts one after the other at each other, the two of them turning the place into a shoot gallery with multiple explosions going off around them. However, as the Crimson Dragon continued her firefight, she saw out of the corner of her left eye that Diamante was getting attacked by this Black Lantern's partner construct. While it would've benefited her to let the zombie take her down, thereby allowing her to take her ring, there was also the distinct possibility that Diamante could become a zombie and still be able to control her ring.
'And then I'll have to deal with three damn zombies and one of them is already a relentless nutcase!' She thought, deciding the cons outweighed the pros.
With little choice, Sunset aimed her gauntlet straight at the ground and fired off another energy blast, detonating it right below her feet and kicking up a dust cloud in the process. The male Black Lantern ceased his attack in confusion, not sure as to what the Crimson Dragon was planning.
Just then, the red construct of a chimera with two heads, one a ram and the other a tiger, and a snake-headed tail burst forth from the smoke and charged straight for the zombie. The male Black Lantern was taken by surprise as the ram's head of the chimera hit him square in the chest, breaking several ribs as he was sent flying in the opposite direction.
While this was going on, the Crimson Dragon bolted for the Diamante. The female Black Lantern's claws had broken through and half her arm was inside the barrier, with her hand mere inches from Diamante's heart. But just before she could get any further, Sunset landed hard against the ground, inhaled, and released a stream of her napalm blood breath upon the undead. The zombie hissed as she retracted her arm and flew away from Diamante, with her lower half melting from the acidic, burning substance.
"Why did you help me?! Are you trying to take my ring?! That's it isn't it! Admit it!" Diamante asked, looking at the red warrior with confusion.
Sunset groaned in annoyance at the obvious answer. "Duh, you prima donna! Yes, I do want your ring!"
"I KNEW IT!" The Orange Lantern snarled, aiming her ring at the Red Lantern.
"BUT!" Sunset sharply and quickly added. "Neither do I want to have to deal with a version of you that's a zombie! So, for the time being, they are my enemies! You can either fight them and me, which I guarantee won't be easy! Or you can fight them with me, and once they're dead, again, we can have our turn!"
Diamante was skeptical of this woman, she hated her, she hated anyone who wanted what she had. Especially her ring. However, these creatures wanted her life, which was even more precious to her. If she was not alive, then how would she continue to collect more and more precious things, and keep them safe from thieves?! And if she died, her beauty would also be stolen from her! She'd be nothing but rotting, walking flesh! At least the thief in front of her was honest about only wanting her ring, at least she was a thief with honor. "Very well, we shall dispose of these ghastly things first and foremost! But the moment they are gone I will punish you for daring to try and steal my precious ring!" Diamante started firmly.
"Great, our shit's on pause." Sunset replied.
The Orange Lantern simply rolled her eye. "Tch, could you put it less crudely?!"
"Honestly, no, no I can't, and I don't give a shit if you find it offensive! Just fight these things and don't hit me in the process!" Sunset replied before spreading her wings.
While the mayhem was going on, the Sirens were backstage, watching the battle going on between the orange klepto and the red angry girl. This had exceeded Adagio's plans by a wide margin, not only one, but both of the ring wielders were present in the crowd during the concert, both their second and first choices were here. However, it seemed as if there were others. Their power felt… wrong somehow… like living death, as much of an oxymoron as that sounded in her head, it was the only way to describe them, well, other than another word she could think of. 'Is this some form of necromancy?'
"Okay, getting one of them was one thing, but this is ridiculous!" Aria exclaimed.
"Yeah, Mandarin Orange Slice Psycho and Angry Red Habanero, and… whatever the other two are… yeah, this isn't good." Sonata agreed.
"Agreed, but the orange one responded to our song first, so we might've gotten through to her." Adagio whispered as they watched the ongoing battle. "There's a possibility that we may have gotten the red one, too, but we'll just have to wait and see." A series of explosions took place close to the stage, making Adagio and her sisters back away. "For now, we need to leave! Those two in the black robes were not part of the plan! We'll just have to see what happens after the battle is over!"
Adagio, Sonata, and Aria began running out the back, down some stairs, and were about to head to the opposite side of the park, hopefully far away from battle… but just before they could get that far, one of the undead were hurled in their direction, crashing into a nearby tree, forcing the three girls to stop in their tracks. Adagio quickly put herself between her sisters and the monster, unwilling to let this monster harm her sisters. But before the undead could make a move for them, the Crimson Dragon descended from the sky and struck the Black Lantern across the face, but male Black Lantern dug his heels into the dirt and struck back with an uppercut of her own, sending the Crimson Dragon was sent hurtling towards Adagio.
The lead Siren quickly pushed her sisters out of the way just as Sunset barreled into her. Realizing that she and Adagio were about to crash land, Sunset dispelled the dragon head on her arm and grabbed ahold of Adagio at last second, flipping around and landing against the ground on her back, shielding Adagio from getting crushed by her or sustaining any injuries.
Sunset and Adagio both groaned from the landing, the Siren slowly propped herself up, placing her hands on the chest plate of the Crimson Dragon… and gulped when she locked eyes with her, Sunset in turn looked up at Adagio and gulped as well. Now that she was this close to her, Sunset couldn't help but find her face to be quite beautiful.
"Uh…y-you alright?" The Crimson Dragon asked, her cheeks heating up under her mask.
"Y-Yes, yes I am." Adagio replied, blushing nervously.
"Okay… g-good." Sunset stammered.
There was a pregnant silence between the two.
"This is awkward, isn't it?" Sunset asked, unable to tear her gaze away from the Siren.
"Yes, very." The Siren sighed.
"ADAGIO, LOOK OUT!" They both heard Aria scream.
The male Black Lantern launched himself into the air and bolted down towards them with a fist engulfed in black flames. Sunset raised her right hand and conjured a barrier around herself and Adagio just as the Black Lantern slammed their fist against the shield, the Crimson Dragon grunting as she felt the strain the attack put on her shield. The Black Lantern started wailing again and again at her shield, making the Red Lantern grunt in pain from her mind straining to maintain the barrier.
Adagio, in one of the rare moments of her life, was scared, she couldn't die here, not now, not when they were close to achieving their goal. She had to be there for her sisters, they were lost without her!
Sunset glanced at the girl still on top of her, she could see the fear in her eyes… and then something burned within Sunset, and that something made her grit her teeth as she released a loud war cry. "I'VE… HAD… ENOUGH!!"
The barrier suddenly shifted as the ground below them rumbled. The Black Lantern ceased his attack as the ground below Sunset was torn apart, revealing the huge jaws of a dragon construct rising around the shield and biting down on the Black Lantern. Its burning fangs pierced through its chest, and rose higher and higher into the sky and then whipped its head to the side, throwing the Black Lantern into the roof of a nearby building before inhaling and bellowing forth a huge column of crimson flames at the building, sitting it ablaze.
"GO! BEFORE IT COMES BACK!" The Crimson Dragon ordered ss Adagio stood up, creating an opening in her shield.
"R-Right! T-Thank you!" Adagio exclaimed as she rushed back to the waiting arms of her sisters.
As Sunset picked herself up however, the female Black Lantern tried to strike her from behind, only for Diamante to smash her into the ground with a giant piledriver, having it rise up and down again and again like a hammer until a huge crater had formed. "If you're quite done ogling her, it would be lovely if you could FOCUS ON THE FIGHT!!!" Diamante snapped, earning a growl from the Crimson Dragon as she flew into the top of the dragon construct's head, forcing it to transform into a full dragon, with four limbs, wings, and a spike-tipped tail. In conjunction with Sunset, Diamante made her own construct, a giant hydra with nine heads that hissed as they glared down at the crater the female Black Lantern now occupied.
The male Black Lantern burst forth from the flaming rooftop and the female Black Lantern burst up from the ground, both of them floating next to each other as they used their rings to form a construct of a giant, black, three headed dog.
Not wasting a second, all three constructs charged at each other.
Sunset's dragon construct unleashed a torrent of flames at the cerberus construct, but the three headed canine dodged the attack and bit down around the dragon's neck. But as it was occupied with one construct, the hydra quickly wrapped two of its necks around its body and tore it off the dragon, hurling it into the air. However the cerberus managed to right itself in the air and landed atop the burning rooftop without much trouble, letting out a fierce roar that dispelled the flames.
The hydra's nine heads all opened their mouths and fired a barrage of vermillion energy blasts, forcing the cerberus construct to rush around the two, nimbly weaving around each of the hydra's beam attacks. The cerberus construct then skidded to a halt and opened all three of its mouths as it fired three spiraling beams of dark energy straight for the hydra construct. Diamante's construct was struck in the chest and thrown backwards onto its back, the cerberus construct ran for the downed hydra, but the construct dragon created a firewall in front of the hydra and landed on the ground behind the wall.
"Looks it's time tah even out the odds." The male Black Lantern exclaimed as their cerberus construct split apart into three dark hounds. Two of them rushed off in separate directions while the third remained at the front, shooting another stream of spiraling dark energy at the firewall. Sunset glanced to the left and right, watching as the two other dark hounds got into position behind them. The hydra construct managed to get back up and stood back to back with the construct dragon. Now they were surrounded, on three sides by the constructs.
However, just before the two dog heads could attack, both Diamante's and Sunset's rings went off.
[STRONG WILLPOWER DETECTED. HOPE DETECTED.]
[STRONG WILLPOWER DETECTED. HOPE DETECTED.]
Suddenly, two beams of green and blue light shot down from the sky, both beams swiftly intertwined with one another and combined into one before then splitting apart into two dual beams that struck the two separated dark hounds. Both constructs could only howl in pain as the twin lights of Hope and Willpower bore down on them and utterly shattered them to pieces.
Sunset and Diamante looked up, and so too did the hooded figure on the building across from the park, and the figure sneered.
"So… they finally showed up…"
